Title: I have bitcoin coming to my waves wallet for some reason
Post by: ridertiger on October 23, 2018, 04:41:14 PM
So, here is a record from LATEST TRANSACTIONS in my waves wallet at https://waveswallet.io/
Date: 10/22/2018
Type: Incoming Mass Payment
NAME:   Bitcoin
RECIPIENT:   n/a
FEE:   0.051 WAVES
UNITS:   0.00011680

However, when I go to my portfolio in the same wallet, it shows 0.0000408 bitcoin.
How come my total bitcoin is less than what is arriving?
I dont where the bitcoin is coming from.

This is certainly a technical error from the blockchain because bitcoin is running on a different code while waves wallet is quite different. It is only the developers that can explain what happened. Meanwhile I do not think it is even possible to use the wave blockchain to transfer the money to your own bitcoin wallet. It will not go through. Technically you have lost that money. what a day my brother.

Did I just read "technical error from the blockchain" LMAO ;D ;D
To the OP: The waves blockchain and the bitcoin blockchain work completely differently. Somebody might be playing with you by sending you some fake coins naming bitcoin.
Do post the transaction Id so that we can trace what's going on with your wallet.

I didn't understand Bitcoin was sent by you or someone else. If it was sent by someone else, it might have gone wrong. Otherwise, if you mistakenly sent Bitcoin to Waves address, in my opinion it would be possible to come. Because I had mistakenly sent MNX to Bitcoin address and it was possible to seeing this transaction from explore, but due to this was an exchange wallet i couldn't get the private key.

People rarely make mistakes in recipient address during transactions. And since the two blockchain operate differently, it could be that the sender was playing around with a currency dubbed bitcoin.
As to why the amount received is less than what was stated in the incoming transaction that could be an error.
It happens to me sometimes when receiving ERC-20 tokens.

Maybe there was someone who send you a bitcoin token, but i still don't know why it shows only 0.0000408 bitcoin on your balance. But it is weird that you don't know where is the bitcoin came from.

if i give you a $1 bill but with a magic marker write "bitcoin" on the dollar bill, in that case did i give you bitcoin or did i give you dollar?

that is what's happening here. you have received Waves which is worth about 400 satoshi but someone with a "magic marker" wrote bitcoin on it as a comment! hence the "NAME:   Bitcoin" part. that is also what the tokens do, they use the name bitcoin in their name to throw you off.

Waves is an altcoin right? So it's not really Bitcoin it's someone naming that transaction as Bitcoin? If the waves wallet doesn't have a Bitcoin receiving address it can't receive it, it's an entirely different coin.

It's like ethereum, where you can build tokens upon it. So op probably received token named Bitcoin.

Thank you very much, I think this is the most likely explanation. Now, what is the exchange where I can sell these waves tokens called "bitcoin" for real bitcoin?

I also noted that small amounts of the Bitcoin token - WBTC are regularly sent to various Waves wallets from this Waves address  - https://wavesdesk.com/account/3P7awoHBQvJSgRqYdmkoTBdrhiQtAeAZHf2
When you go to the WBTC page  - https://wavesdesk.com/asset/8LQW8f7P5d5PZM7GtZEBgaqRPGSzS3DfPuiXrURJ4AJS
a warning  to be careful appears.
I think that the so-called Bitcoin token can be used by hackers to gain access to other people's Waves wallets, so you should not use it.

These tokens called 'bitcoin' are worthless.
They are not related to bitcoin at all. Someone just named a senseless token 'bitcoin'. Probably to scam other people.

It is the same approach as with all of these shitforks (bitcoin cash, bitcoin gold, bitcoin shit, bitcoin XXX, etc...).
All of them have one in common: They are using the name of bitcoin to attract newcomers. That's their way of making money.

Keep away from any tokens / forkcoins which have 'bitcoin' in their name. There is only one bitcoin (BTC).
Anything else which uses the name of bitcoin is shady and should be avoided.

If you've two different types of coin in the same wallet then you might face this problem. Also the problem might be technical too. Either the transaction was faulty or the wallet isn't just showing it that way but the coins are there.

it's possible to get it from airdrop, sometimes there is an airdrop that gives tokens to all wallets evenly, it also applies to ERC-20 platform tokens
they do that as an effort from their token promo so that people are interested in looking further

This is a technical error from the blockchain. Because bitcoin is running on a different code while waves wallet is quite different. Somebody might be playing with you by sending you fake coins naming bitcoin.
Maybe that is not true and trying to trick on you. When you do not understand the block chain, you can't get it. You have to ignore it and do not be stressed by it. That is not true bitcoin though, if someone has to give you a bitcoin, he should ask for your address first and know what it is for even for free.

Just like others said this was a token created with the name of bitcoin but I don't think that also possible.OP may read the name of the coin wrong because we have lot of altcoins with similar to bitcoin even I hear we have an altcoin or token named BitcoinX,so make sure that name again and if that name of bitcoin then it is not because the addresses are different if we try to send bitcoin to other address we may lost it permanently.

that is a real bitcoin asset/token (WBTC) in waves platform
the units amount shown (0.00011680) in that transaction is the total amount transacted
you are actually only receiving 0.00000120 per transaction, and there are multiple incoming transactions
take a look at the last airdrop http://wavesexplorer.com/tx/8YsMxdDkJg4BDj6FG3D78GYhkVognA9ztaVftxKVid1T

I dont where the bitcoin is coming from.
I've been wondering the same too but still can't find a clue who airdropped it and why
one thing for sure that address 3P7awoHBQvJSgRqYdmkoTBdrhiQtAeAZHf2 airdropped WBTC and cryptogram

In the crypto markey, it is unlikely that any one will send you Bitcoin by mistake. Though, there is no explanation for the 0.0000408 btc balance in your account, you should ignore it. From the look of it, someone is trying to prank you. Ignoring it, will be safe option, of course.

Waves and Bitcoin are completely different and in no way would it be possible to get Bitcoin in the transaction. It might be some other coin that is being renamed to Bitcoin and sent to you. My advice would be to would be to ignore the name since it seems like someone is trying to prank you.

It might be a technical problem and I will urge you to consult the support team on it and find a possible solution it rather than something bad happening to your main balance. This hithces should be reported so that in case future compromise of your wallet , you can get a reference.

I'm receiving those small btc transactions in my waves wallet too. I've changed about 4400 satoshi into about 0.14 waves, just to see if this strange airdrop stops.

For those who say that you can't have btc on waves platform i have a question: have you ever used waves wallet!?!?  On waves wallet you can store even other cryptocurrencies.... Just give a try before giving false information: https://client.wavesplatform.com . Offcourse they are stored in tokens form, so for example the satoshi i've exchanged wasn't real satoshi, but was worth the same as real satoshi at this moment.

Anybody knows where that strange airdrop is coming from???

no, it's not worthless. WBTC is the real asset/token which represents bitcoin on waves platform
in fact, we can make deposit of US$, EURO, BTC, LTC, ETH and more through official waves gateway
in return we receive appropriate token representing such coin/currency on waves platform
we just need to be careful because there are some fake assets with similar name

@ridertiger on waves wallet dashboard, if it's the real WBTC you will see the amount on your BTC balance
there is a minimum amount if you want to withdraw to your bitcoin address, something like 0.01 BTC I think

First, calm down. Waves's platform is a centerless platform. Therefore, a large number of token is produced. I've got 1000 Bitcoins recently. Don't be fooled by what Bitcoin wrote, it's just a Waves token. If you look at the explanations, you will see what Bitcoin wants. Don't send , of course. It is completely fake.

It's probably sent randomly to random addresses and these coins won't do anything if they'e there. Keep it or transfer it to an exchange to have it disposed. Lucky you if you get coins that do have value lol. I've been receiving a few coins i haven't even heard of in my erc20 wallet but i just disregard them.

As everyone has said, it is most likely a TOKEN based on Waves that was named Bitcoin,,, you can always verify the token by checking the details, and whether it is is verified or not. But one thing people have also failed to say is that Waves Wallet is a multi crypto wallet and it CAN accept Bitcoin.

So what happened is you got a token called Bitcoin but is not Bitcoin, but you actually CAN receive BTC at your Waves address.

Waveswallet is a wallet made for only wave contracts coins. So its not possible for you to receive bitcoin through waveswallet it must have been an TOKEN made by someone because it is just easy and cheap to create a coin with few million supply using waves contract

Probably an alt-coin named as Bitcoin since Waves wallet cannot receive BTC, someone is sending it to you on purpose just ignore it or sell it off if it has any value.

So, here is a record from LATEST TRANSACTIONS in my waves wallet at https://waveswallet.io/
Date: 10/22/2018
Type: Incoming Mass Payment
NAME:   Bitcoin
RECIPIENT:   n/a
FEE:   0.051 WAVES
UNITS:   0.00011680

However, when I go to my portfolio in the same wallet, it shows 0.0000408 bitcoin.
How come my total bitcoin is less than what is arriving?
I dont where the bitcoin is coming from.
Waves is an altcoin right? So it's not really Bitcoin it's someone naming that transaction as Bitcoin? If the waves wallet doesn't have a Bitcoin receiving address it can't receive it, it's an entirely different coin.

NO! Waves is not a just altcoin! It has a cryptocurrency wallet in its platform. So you can deposit, hold and withdraw BTC in it.

But unfortunately, It is not a Bitcoin which came in this friends wallet.

Waves has a complete decentralized platform. So you can easily create a Waves token in its platform. And there is no limit including names. Because it is completely decentralized. So, some people are trying to fool people with this. They are creating token and named it a popular coin like BTC, ETH, or anything. Then sending all Waves wallet freely. And they are writing note that transactions. If you send more Waves or any crypto them, they claim that they will send back more BTC to you. (if you beat it.)

Don't believe them!!! No one send free BTC to nobody! It is over 5000$ now!!!

From what I recall the WAVES platform is having issues with spam transactions, so this appears to be someone sending you spam named "bitcoin." From what I recall WAVES is working on combatting spam.

Waves and Bitcoin have two altogether different types of Blockchain and different protocol and networks. What has happened with you is that someone has created an altcoin on the waves platform which he/she has named as btc. So the bitcoin you are receiving is this bitcoin and not the one on the main blockchain

I agree with you. People here keep talking about waves but probably they have never open waves platform.... even once.

On waves platform there is a cryptocurrency wallet where you can also store other cryptocoins, including btc. Offcourse you have to trust waves platform if you do it, like you have to trust exchanges if you deposit on their wallets.

I am reading the comments but I guess there are confusion about waveswallet.io.

First and foremost waveswallet.io is not just a wallet it is an exchange and a platform. On this regard what we have inside the waveswallet.io are not just token but also coins such as bitcoin and ethereum. They call the exchange in that website as DEX or decentralized Exchange.

The only thing left now is where is the bitcoin coming from since according to the author there was no one sending or he have no idea where is the bitcoin coming from. We can only make some assumptions it is possible that;

1. somebody have sent bitcoin to a wrong address
2. The receiver have forgotten any website that he registers that send him bitcoin, etc
3. Maybe a person or a friend wants to give him a gift.

But anyway it is not important where it comes from but what is important is that he is receiving bitcoins in his wallet. It is free money.

Anyone here get bch to their wallet?  Have very tiny amount.

you should be very carefull a lot coin named the same are just spam coin, on waves desk is many spam project, never seen so many sheet coin anyware!

It's probably sent randomly to random addresses and these coins won't do anything if they'e there. Keep it or transfer it to an exchange to have it disposed. Lucky you if you get coins that do have value lol. I've been receiving a few coins i haven't even heard of in my erc20 wallet but i just disregard them.

you guys are lucky if you manage to recieve some tokens on your waves wallet . i dont have a waves wallet so its obvious that im not recieving any but i have an erc20 wallet and lately i noticed that i recieve some coins but idk if this was due to the airdrops that i joined on the past  .  i cant tell if im lucky or not because some coins that i get for free does not have a value while some do have but it was little  to less   .

As far as i know waveswallet.io was the old platform... Don't even know if it's still active...

The new platform should be client.wavesplatform.com .
