Post by: russ5555 on October 24, 2018, 11:23:11 PM
Hi guys. I am a total noob at this. so i have a mining cave riserless rig that came with smos installed on a 120 gb ssd. i have windows 10 on a bootable usb. when i boot my rig to try to get to the bios to change the boot, i can't seem to find it. it just goes to a bunch of code. Any ideas. i am trying to do this so i can bios mod my rx580's. unless there is a way to connect my cards to my laptop to bios mod them. any help is appreciated,

Thanks

How are you attempting to access the bios now?  I would think Google would be your friend here.  I took a second to find this, but knowing more about your specific situation and what you've been trying would probably make for a more accurate search and discovery process: https://www.techadvisor.co.uk/how-to/windows/how-access-bios-in-windows-10-3681505/

Before I forget this thread has some great people on it that can be super helpful in these situations. It's in the Alt coin mining section; normally I would say search or create your own topic there but it's tough to navigate at the best of times.

To try and help you here. Are you only trying to boot Windows to MOD the cards? Or are you planning on running Windows permanently?

I'm no expert I run 1 rig, and have swapped between HiveOS and Windows which is where I stayed for what I'm mining at the moment. It would be awesome if your Smos where on a USB ( you only need 8GB I think) and you could just have the SSD loaded with Windows and swap between them freely that way. Is that something you could do to make your life simpler??

If nothing else when you turn on the rig you should just have to hit Delete key if I'm not mistaken to access the Bios from there you can select the what to boot from.
