Title: NOT ENOUGHT SPACE IN MY MAC
Post by: oliverspot62 on November 07, 2018, 04:43:00 PM
HELP

I downloaded Bitcoin core in my Mac, i have 251Go HD memory.
It took almost all the space but it's worked.
I received and sent BTC few times.
When Bitcoin core start to synchronize last week and suddenly told me that i don't have enough space.
It's arrived to 78%progress, i erase almost all the documents and programs in my computer to free space but it's not enough.
What can i do???

Thank you for your answer.
I don't found how to run the prune mode.

Regarding:
"If you insist to keep all blockchain data, then move blockchain to external storage or add/replace with new HDD to your Mac are the only option.
Just move whole bitcoin folder to different location, make sure there's no bitcoin folder on default location and run Bitcoin Core again. Bitcoin Core think it's first time you run Bitcoin Core and ask you to choose directory location, then you just need to choose location of moved bitcoin folder."

I don't really know how to do; could you detail me the way to do it please?

What approach do you want to choose ?

1)
To enable pruning simply navigate into the bitcoin data directory (default path: ~/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/) and edit the bitcoin.conf file.
If it doesn't exist, simply create one with this content:
Code:
prune=N

Replace N with the size (in MB) you want to have stored on your hard drive. 550 MB is the minimum possible.
So, for example, if you want to have 5 GB stored, choose 5120 MB.

2)
If you want to keep the whole blockchain, move the bitcoin folder to an external drive (again, standard path: ~/Library/Application Support/ to an external drive).
Only do this while bitcoin core is NOT running. Then start up core and it will ask for a data directory path. Point it to your new path.

1. Settings > Options

2. Enable "Prune block storage" then input storage size

Easiest guide that i could find https://bitzuma.com/posts/moving-the-bitcoin-core-data-directory/ (https://bitzuma.com/posts/moving-the-bitcoin-core-data-directory/)

P.S. External HDD isn't best storage option since there's higher chance block/wallet corrupted.

First of all, your poll doesn't really give us options:

My recommendation for you is to upgrade your internal Hard Disk because if you use an external HD you will have to plug it every time you want to use your wallet and that sound as a plain in the ass.
