Hi guys
I'm in touch with a seller who accepts only bitcoins. He asked me to pay dollars to his bitcoin address, and he gave me  a alphanumeric address. I have neither any bitcoin nor a bitcoin wallet.
The question is: How can I send money from my bank account for example to his bitcoin address?
I'd like to have some sort of step by step guide

First: don't get scammed! Don't trust anybody who may send you a private message on this forum. Inexperienced Newbies are often easy victims.

The possibilities to buy Bitcoins vary per country, and it also differs depending on the amount you want to buy. So if you can start with a bit more information, we can help you better.

One more warning: not many sellers accept only Bitcoin. Unless there is a specific reason not to accept any other payment method, it is possible you're getting scammed.

It largely depends on where you are based. If you're in the US, for example, the steps described by ETFbitcoin could be translated into:

1. Buy Bitcoin (BTC) from Coinbase.com using your credit card.
2. Download Electrum from Electrum.org and set up a wallet according to Electrum's instructions -- withdraw the coins from Coinbase to your Electrum wallet.
3. Send the required BTC amount to the sellers Bitcoin address.

That's a very simplified verion of what you could do.


In reality you have a large selection of exchanges with varying trustworthiness, availability and ease of use:

Be aware that when registering a new account with an exchange you'll likely have to get verified first (ie. provide them with personal data, verify your bank account, etc) which may take a few days.

Be aware that you should backup your wallet, do not share your wallet file or private keys with others (essentially anything that isn't a Bitcoin address) and note that if your device is hacked, money might be at risk (ie. if that's more than just a one-off transaction, consider looking into cold storage and / or hardware wallets).


And especially, heed LoyceV's warning -- there's a lot of scammers out there, so buyer beware! Bitcoin transactions are final and if you don't know who you're dealing with they might just make a run with your money.

Hardly anyone will agree to do that. PayPal payments are reversible while Bitcoin transactions are not. You can try your luck here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0) but I guess that nobody will be interested in your offer since you don't have any trading history on bitcointalk.

This isn't the board to ask for currency exchanges. Can you start by answering the questions in my first post, so we can help you get what you want?

Yeah, if you truly need help, be transparent with your situation. Lot of people willing to help you get what you want done on your own. Teach you to fish, and all that. If you want to start using Bitcoin, I'd suggest some initiative on your part. Learn to use and control your own money (some say the whole idea of Bitcoin) and you'll be glad you did.

If you insist on using Paypal, quickest route to get what you need done:
1. Open an account on Localbitcoins. Verify it.
2. Find a Seller and choose Paypal option.
3. Complete the trade.
4. Directly withdraw the Bitcoin from Localbitcoins to the address you were given.

Note: Paypal payments have extremely high commissions due to risk of chargeback. Expect to pay $120 for $100 worth of BTC. Also, be sensible and let these guys who've bothered replying know what it is you want to do exactly and the nature of your transaction. Way it all sounds at the moment, you're opening yourself up to a potential scam.

As users say, you can try localbitcoin with paypla because here that can end on scam...

Another service i would like to recommend if you want to buy bitcoins with paypal is Virwox, there you can buy up to $3k with paypal, the only problem they have are the high fees, but they make it possible.

After you get the BTC in virwox you can withdraw direct to the seller bitcoin wallet, and skip your own wallet steps.

Guys the nature of the transaction it's not an urgent matter, all you need to know is that there's nothing illegal going on.
I tried registering on coinbase but they asked me to send my ID card photos 5 times and 5 times I got refused so I was annoyed of this and quitted.
Is localbitcoin easier and faster to do?
I don't know why he accepts only bitcoins, but he also mentions on his page that he's going to accept only BCs.

edit: I registered on localBC. Questions:
1) the guy wants me to send 100 dollars, but I'm in EU. Should I buy 100 dollars or 100 euros? Is AMD the US dollar?
2) how can I make the 100$ go to him ?

Localbitcoins is basically trading with other people in your local area face-2-face in most cases (lower risk of getting scammed). You could also try looking for Bitcoin ATMs but they are still rare, especially in small cities. I used to buy Bitcoin directly with my debit card but many websites which provide such service have a minimum amount of dollars which you have to spend. CoinGate (https://buy.coingate.com/) is a pretty solid one but they also enforce some kind of verification. You might pass it, though.


You have to talk with the other person about it. 100 dollars is obviously not the same as 100 euro. PayPal payments are reversible so that's why some people might be reluctant to trade with you.
