Title: Is it possible for the newbie to get merit??
Post by: sarwoedi on November 11, 2018, 07:18:18 AM
This merit rule has long been applied, but for so long we as a newbie to get the merit even though it's only one merit.

Rank                  Required activity            Required merit
Brand new                    0                            0
Newbie                         1                            0
Jr Member                   30                            1
Member                       60                           10
Full Member                120                           100
Sr. Member                 240                           250
Hero Member              480                           500

maybe getting merit is not impossible, sooner or later you might get it, but in what way can a NEWBIE get it? do you have to buy? it doesn't feel fair and doesn't need to be done, but many people who say improve your posts in order to get merit, but what kind of posts do you deserve to get merit? because there is no standard for that, I am a newbie even though later making good posts in my own opinion is not necessarily according to other people and if good according to others it is not necessarily he will give merit this makes the newbie desperate even though there is a lot to learn from the bitcointalk forum this was like a bounty but what a rank newbie limited me to study it.

But for newbies keep working hard to get merit the right way. believe me someday you will get it as well as me!

There are a lots of user who started with 0 and already ranked up to full member, sr member. Ddmrddmr even got 1000+ merits from 0. Therefore, it's nothing so hard to find what kinds of posts deserve to get merit.
The very first thing-
Act like a normal user, not a merit hunter. If you think about merit, you are not gonna have it. Browse the forum for which it has been made of and merit will easily come to you.

Checked your post history. Got 3 in English where you only have talked about merit. Again, I want you to remember the previous line- " Act as a normal user, not a merit hunter."

Hello.

For your laziness (not bothering to search) and your greed, I have tagged you as someone who will probably abuse this forum.

Don't worry about merit - you don't need it to post.

Of course it is possible, it happens all the time! I don't understand where this myth is coming from. Of course if all you care about is merit to get into bounties, you will probably find it difficult to get merits. But that is on you, not some mean forum members.

If you wanted to know and study this forum, you could have scrolled back a page or two and you would have seen this question answered about a million times. It is not rocket science.

That is because you were too LAZY to do a bit of research and see that newbies that copy/paste WELL KNOWN stats do not get merit.  :/

I put you on ignore as well, I'm going to make a special category for (potential) spambies who quote that merit requirement table. That includes the ones who quote posts containing it as well.

So to answer your question - yes of course it is possible, and I'm on the hunt for new members to award with merits at this very minute.

why are you Mainlbem laughing at me not properly behaving like that, doesn't a senior have to help or tell the newbie? please don't be like that because your rank doesn't reflect who you are, because you didn't need merit to become sr.member.

Aha, so you have researched the system... your claim you did not know better is probably a lie.  :/

Dude, I checked your Local board posts. You are Indonesian. Indonesia is the easiest local board to get merit. Is it difficult to write a high quality post in your local language?
You shouldn't complain, you are wasting time in this thread enough to write a good article in the local board.

Code:
Total Merit	Local board
574 Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian)
420 Deutsch (German)
371 Pyccкий (Russian)
339 Türkçe (Turkish)
246 Português (Portuguese)
184 Français
153 Hrvatski (Croatian)
144 Español (Spanish)
137 Italiano (Italian)
132 Philippines
120 中文 (Chinese)
100 日本語 (Japanese)
77 Nederlands (Dutch)
75 العربية (Arabic)

After months of inactivity this account, this account was revisited today and already making posts about the merit system (and in English compared to its previous posts which were all in local boards).

This sort of posts would only get you on the ignore list of other members.

do you have to buy?

That is not an option as far as I know.
And would only get your account red tagged.

Apparently you're aware of this, then why come up with this sort of post, instead of getting to work, and working hard just like you said yourself...
It's basically almost impossible to earn a merit with this sort of post you just scribbled out here, it'll more or less earn you a place in most of our users ignore lists...

IMHO,i will advice you lock this thread as soon as possible, and get to work trying to earn a merit the normal/right way

I almost thought that theymos has introduced some new merit requirements/restrictions. There are currently 15 active topics on the first page about merit.  :o

Well, I couldn't find anything which leaves me to believe that this is just the monthly talk merit cycle bitcointalkers goes through. HELP!

Checked your post history. Got 3 in English where you only have talked about merit. Again, I want you to remember the previous line- " Act as a normal user, not a merit hunter."
Words of wisdom right there.  Newbie members who make threads like this expressing deep concern about earning merits/ranking up usually are the ones who don't do any reading and only want to earn more money by attaining a higher rank.  Once they figure out how difficult it is, they'll either get frustrated and quit, resort to plagiarism, or engage in merit trading.

It's possible to earn merits by posting in Meta (which is where I think I've earned the vast majority of mine), but you have to know what you're talking about--and being able to express yourself clearly helps a great deal.  A lot of noob posts in Meta are near incomprehensible and most are just attempts to earn merits.  If you don't speak English well, sticking to the local boards is probably the best advice you can get.

I almost thought that theymos has introduced some new merit requirements/restrictions. There are currently 15 active topics on the first page about merit.  :o
Nah, just another batch of new users from faraway lands who heard about the amazing money-making opportunities bitcointalk provides.  I'm telling you, that grapevine they hear about the forum through ought to include some facts about the merit system and how to earn them.

There's no secret and no magic advice anyone can really give to someone about this.  You either have a knack for writing (or very useful knowledge to share) or you don't.

Well user like Ddmrddmr has an exceptional skills in posting here in the forum. There is no doubt about it and that prove already when Ddmrddmr has reached more 1000 merits for a legendary rank merit requirement. He is already a legend.

Anyway, getting merit may hard for when you do a quality post reviewing it all the time should be done before posting it. I bet you can meet many users here that has expertise and will scrutinize your post (base on my experience).

For now, since you are new on this forum it might be good to participate in discussions and just do not mind gaining merit for it will come in the right time. Just cling to the forum and be patient until a merit source will acknowledge you in your posting skill. Some of the merit source will consider meriting post even if your english looks bad as long as they will get your point, all of your activity are not spam, and you have dedication and time to learn in this forum.

Well here it is, the problem is to get (Merit) in this case if we really strive and give aspirations that benefit others (Merit) come alone do not need to ask and beg. As long as the ideas we develop are truly conducive and useful.
which is your problem, now I think that you see your posts mostly (quote) that rarely the idea of your results permanently comes out of your mind.
Example:

[your post?] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1409262;sa=showPosts;start=20)

I think to get the best for you to do a unique post that gives something to other members, what you want is sure to come..

For the OP,
Why not be able to rank up with merit system?
There are dozens of guys who even ranked up to Senior Members months after the implementation of merit system.
Case studies for your interest are:
- iasenko
- coinlocket$
- MagicSmoker
- DdmrDdmr
- zentdex
- hugeblack
- and so on.
You should use the search feature of the forum to find them, then learn from them.
There is link to how to use the forum's Search feature.
