A friend of mine started to save money in BTC for his son.
Now he is in worry about the idea because of this last dropping months.

I told him to re-load some BTC up to lower the average.
If you have any suggestions about this please share

Its BTC a good way to save money for our kids?
Will this pay them a car? the university? a house? nothing at all?

I think yes. Because all we know that bitcoin is a good investment or we can say that bitcoin is good for a long term investment because it's value will make us compare tk gold's value. In our kids future I think this is practical because our kids need a better future and bitcoin is the key for a better future for them. Even it is risky we need to take a risk but I think it is mlre practical that while you are saving bitcoin,you will also save a real money as a security. Play safe because your kid's future is very important. And I think you need to save and teach a bitcoin knowledge and learnings also for your kids.

To be honest, Bitcoin is a part of the wild crypto market and no one can predict the accurate future and hence there is no right or wrong answer to this question. However, considering the potential of Bitcoin/crypto industry and the growth of it since inception, I believe that this thing is here to stay but again, that doesn't mean I should invest my entire capital in it. I would go with diversification method and invest various parts in multiple sectors/forms rather than keeping all the eggs in the single basket. Thus to conclude, I would say that Bitcoin is one of the good ways to save money but not the single method.

for me yes because if we kids don't know bitcoin, the real money is us even though the ones who run out we still have bitcoin to make money and be saved

It's not for somebody else to decide. If one wants to save some Bitcoin for one's child, one has to decide it oneself.
I personally would do that in the future but I would not save all the money in the form of Bitcoin. I'd definitely save some of the savings on fiat too just in case something bad happens to my Bitcoin wallet.

Well, we should expect that not at all times the market trend is the same. Somehow drought will happen, rainy season will come, and summer and winter and harvest. Preparedness is one way to handle the long bearish trend. I hope your friend is still okay and wouldn't give up in crypto.

I am a believer of cryptocurrency. I always believe that Bitcoin/Crryptocurrency have a bright future. and I believe that saving money in bitcoin for my kids is really good things to do. but sometimes we have to be realistic, I will not save all my money in Bitcoin because that is really risky. 

Sounds like your friend doesn't understand the basic concepts of this market. If you're friend can't handle the fact that bitcoin is highly volatile and anything can happen at any time (for instance, a massive dip), then the cryptocurrency market isn't a place for him/her. You need to know what your getting yourself into before getting involved in this market, tell your friend that.

Seeing how volatile a crypto can be, I wouldn't take the risk to bet the money for my kid in something so "not sure". It's the type of money you need to place in a safe place (ie your saving account). At least any decent parent should think twice before taking their decision, especially in some countries like in The US where universities cost a fortune.

yes I think so because the previous kids did not know bitcoin only children know youtube and games I think if real money is spent by the child itself is not a problem but he does not know about bitcoin

Bitcoin is very volatile and we certainly don't know whether it will be valuable when our children grow up. Savings in a stable currency will be better than in bitcoin. Do not risk our child's future on something uncertain.

Exactly this. You haven't said how old his son is, but I assume he is looking at holding bitcoin for 10+ years to pay for his son's higher education fees or a deposit on a mortgage. In the last 10 years bitcoin has gone from fractions of a cent to several thousand dollars. There have been multiple all-time-highs, and multiple "crashes" of >80%. There have been bear markets of several years in length, and bitcoin has been "declared dead" by the media probably a thousand times.

If he is getting this stressed out about a small dump over the last few months, then the amount of stress he will experience in the next 10 years could give him a heart attack. He either needs to stop checking the price and come back in 10 years, or he needs to sell and choose more traditional investments.

Agreed. Saving money for OP's friend's son's future in bitcoin is a great idea, but because of its unpredictability, he can't put all of his money in bitcoin alone. Better to save some in the bank as well, and perhaps sign up an insurance for his son. Start early so he will have a bright future. Plus if he eventually inherited the bitcoins, he will have stable life financially for sure.

I think saving Bitcoins for kids is a good idea of your friend, one should not get panic of this market crash as such crash are normal in each financial market but investment should be safe means one should invest only the amount which he/she can afford to lose, higher the risk higher the reward, bitcoin investment may give a good return in future.

I think that something as important as the future of your children should not be in the hands of the volatility of cryptos, it is important to have stability to ensure the future of your child, something that cryptos are never going to offer, I would save for a car or a house, but I think that the future of my children is something much more delicate to put there.

Well...months ago, bitcoin proof itself to be one of the asset and a way to save money for our future kids in fortune but if most of us look at what's happening in the market,  one might or will be discouraged and look else where. Nothing so speculative as BTC is good way to save it may be good way to trade but trying to save in it you basically gambling. Although if we are talking about small part from all amount you are saving for son to BTC it could be effective.

I have personally save upto 3 Ethereum and 0.5Bitcoin for my kids future and this asset are not to be touch nor use by any.
This will help my kids grow with the knowledge of cryptocurrency.

If your friend is investing what he/she can't afford to lose then better stop it or he/she will regret it someday. There are many ways to stream your funds not only saving it for the future. Having a business is one. But placing your future on to something that is quite unpredictable is risky, you might end up with nothing at all.

What's wrong with saving Bitcoin in the future? I don't see any bad things if we do it,  especially now Bitcoin is the best of all crypto currencies and Bitcoin was on top of them too. Although the its value so far is not good but I am sure in the near future or one day it will be bounce again like just what happened last 2017. Besides, some of the members here had already invested a house, traditional business because of bitcoin.

That could be a good idea for saving. Make at least a half to invest on digital currency because it is very high risk to put all in one when there is many way where you can make money grow. I'd do the same. As of right now fiat money still in use and i have no children. But if i do, i'll save half in cash and half in BTC because if in the future the price is up. You still have cash to invest and more profit to your wallet.

I think it's a personal decision but if I were to say if I can, I'd say no. Just look at the battering bitcoin and other coins have received in the last week, nobody knows for sure the direction the whole crypto market is heading so personally I don't see it as an alternative to save funds for the future.

Bitcoin prices have never been stable, and bitcoin is also not necessarily very valuable in the future, so it's better to save with banknotes that are clearly more stable than bitcoin, and have a future that is definitely not like bitcoin whose future is unclear.

You can still save some of your money to Bitcoin but I still suggest to save money into another investment asset like Gold or property. So, if Bitcoin fails you still have another asset...

It does not have the stability needed for such things.

That store of value nonsense was just to trick the newbies into buying it, btc can go to zero if the network dies.

if you talk about bitcoin now, you must be talking about uncertainty, as you know yourself, that at this time the condition of BTC is very vulnerable, the price goes up and down irregularly, the last news I heard (20 Nov 06.50 UTC) bitcoin price is 4500 USD, down about 30% from the previous price of 6500 USD / BTC
if you buy BTC for your child now, the possibility is that BTC will be 2000 USD / BTC in or even 0, depending on your luck

Bitcoin is a digital currency which can be converted as cash. Saving those money that are converted would do. Preserving bitcoin for a long period of time would be a risky because bitcoin value is unpredictable. If you wont monitor its price maybe you can loss a profit which is literary not saving.

Saving in bitcoin for the future is very risky because bitcoin is speculative. The price is volatile and not stable this makes the venture risky and not suitable for a child savings investment. There are other investment portfolios that can be used for this type of future savings for posterity. You can use stocks, treasury bills and other government's bonds.

it is true there will be a big risk when we decide to invest in bitcoin because the price is unstable and no one even knows what will happen next to the price of bitcoin in the future. Man, this is a great idea, to be fair I have never looked on bitcoin as an alternative of collecting money for children. Imagine you deposit money on child's account, what can you get max in developed countries? Four percent a year, it's very small. Now imagine everytime you have additional money for child, you buy bitcoin. We all know that price will rise, current fall has nothing to do with it, this is just an opportunity to buy bitcoin and hold in future. This way you won't have to wait years to receive 100% of your deposit, you'll get possibly 1000% of your deposit.

I dont think so for now, but I am very aware with the things that Bitcoin can eventually be improved and innovate, but for now it is probably impossible since there was still limited entities who accepts Bitcoin as their medium or payment or even part of their system but it doesnt mean it will remain the same and stay as it is, we should wait for more regulations and expansion of this community.

For me, No, because no one can predict the price of bitcoin,, although can manipulate some BIG whale, but its not guarantee you can earn profit after you invest, like now bitcoin is dropping down. I suggest IF she/he earn profit from bitcoin its better to save in bank for the future of kids or other company higher interest .

According to me it's not a bad idea because its value going up. and its valuable. i think its definitely going to help your kids in future. No doubt it's very risky but if you need profits you need to take some risks.

Yes, Bitcoin is a good way to save money for kids because by the time they grew up, blockchain technology will already been widespread so it's better to let the kids to understand what is it for and the benefits as it will take quite a while for some people to understand how this blockchain and bitcoin works.

Yes, I think he makes a good way to save bitcoin from now on and he should not worried about anything unless he doesn't learn more about bitcoin. And if he can buy much bitcoin right now, probably he can use some bitcoin to trade and search another profit with bitcoin or altcoin because I see that we have a chance to increase the amount of bitcoin. But if he doesn't want to trade, then he only needs to wait for the bitcoin price to go up and sell some bitcoin to get that money. Indeed. It is a good way to save money for our kids simply because once you have a lot of bitcoin kid future will be have bright future. But, if you save money with bitcoin you should store it in a safe place. You should also tell to your kids about it so that they can really use it in the near future.

The avarage is the best tip you can give him. I would suggest him to put ALL college funds and school funds into btc. Not only because the price is "low" ( it can goes lower) and it will be much higher, but basically because the school is just a debt and a waste of time. debt vs asset, do you really need to choose?

But how can you be so sure that bitcoin wont leave us ?  What if the price of bitcoin continues to decline  ?  Do you know you actually consider these consequences ?

In my case i will prefer banks over bitcoins because banks are already guaranteed that can last a lifetime especially if  im planning about my future and my families future .

Bitcoin is not good for saving purpose because bitcoin is not stable and with every minute passing its price fluctuates which mean your savings are in danger so always choose stable currencies for savings like fiat/dollar. Dollar fluctuates but not that much fast as bitcoin so dollar is the best option for savings.

For me it is a good idea to save money for our family / our kids (if we already have any) since it is for the wellness of our future. One reason is I thing basically BTC is going to get expensive in decades order.

We all knew how volatile bitcoin so definitely NOT a wise move. There is a 50/50 chances that his son would go to college or not. Why don't save a more stable currency which is fiat where there is a guarantee other than having risk on something that has no assurance.

Wow, it sound scary recently of saving bitcoin for our future. I don't know why but i really feel in doubt since notice the market getting worst day by day.
For my suggestion is hving bitcoin is okey but i prefer to sell it when the price is going to the moon not for holding in long time. It's really unpredictible market.

I would say yes. But please know that there will be risks involved. But as there are risks involved, so are there rewards, great rewards. But please be aware that it is not like saving something in the bank where your deposit is insured up to a certain amount. However, the reward for taking the risk with Bitcoin is that it will not only double or triple or quadruple and so on, your Bitcoin savings will be multiplied in value thousands of times.

But, what's going on here is that the OP's friend to save his money for his kids rather than putting more effort to it by doing a business. Saving here means to save his money and leave them all alone for quite some time and let them grow in value. By building a new business, isn't it ruining the whole purpose of saving?

I am not sure that this is the best way to save money for kids. Why do I think so? It is because its not stable price and it is not 100% guaranteed that btc will be used in the future.

Yes.I know we can't really predict our future but i think with bitcoin,we can really save big for our kids if the price will keep on rising.But knowing it's price is not stable due to it's high volatility,i will choose to save in bitcoins and with fiat too.So that if bitcoin may fall,i still have my fiat left.
