Title: Operation Fabulous updates
Post by: edd on March 09, 2014, 02:58:10 AM
What, you haven't heard of Operation Fabulous (https://www.operationfabulous.com)?

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. For an advertising platform, we've done a lackluster job of promoting our own product. We've also been rather neglectful of incorporating features and improvements that many of our customers would like to see. Well, that's all about to change.

We built a new stats system in the backend and a new views and clicks graph on the ad space page. Within a few days we will also add a "top referrers" table to the ad space page that will be useful for advertisers to see if an ad space is placed on more that one site. We also plan to overhaul the publisher site listing in the coming month to allow searching and filtering instead of a long list which might not be sorted in an ideal way for advertisers. This will also give publishers a better visibility of their ad spaces.

Additional improvements are planned, but we’ll provide updates on the official Operation Fabulous blog (http://opfab.net/blog/) as we address them.

Operation Fabulous, serving the Bitcoin community since 2011.

Hello skorek,

We hope as soon as possible. We started a domain transfer from Kalyhost (which has the same mother company as MtGox), to ensure our service in the future, last week. The timing that it went through is very unfortunate in respect to our update post. I've tried to contact maplesyrupghost (who is handling the transfer) to get it reachable again, but no response from him yet.

The DNS record has been updated, it should resolve to the right server in an hour or two.  Sorry about the delay!  At least now we won't have to rely on KalyHost/Tibanne/Mt.Gox...

If you want to attract more attention, you really should redesign your website.

I couldn't agree more with this.

I couldn't agree more with this.

This is also part of the plan and will be implemented gradually over time. The current design is from
a time when we were the only advertising platform for bitcoins, so we could afford it then to have
a not so nice design. ;)

The current idea is to have all the functionality we want implemented first and redesign the site when
we have all that available.

One thing that always makes me uncertain is to how much javascript should be used. Personally I don't
like javascript that much, because from a security point of view it is a huge risk (for the website visitor).
Currently we use a small bit (mainly statistics), should we use more or do people not really care about it?

I'm pretty sure people who care will just use NoScript, but the majority (around 97% I think) won't. Just make sure the site still functions without scripts and you should be ok.
