Title: Did Bitcoin actually died ? Yes, more than 320 times already
Post by: AlternativeFill on November 29, 2018, 06:18:32 PM
A certain disillusionment is affecting the crypto-active markets, while Bitcoin prices are flirting dangerously around $4,000. Since the record set in December 2017, its value has fallen by 78%, causing the American economist Nouriel Roubini, Bitcoin's well-known opponent, to say that "the mother of all bubbles has now burst". To say that he is going through a difficult period is a euphemism: it is no secret that a crypto winter has been installed. Nevertheless, Bitcoin's history has shown that every time he was promised death, it emerged stronger.

In traditional finance, a crash is generally defined as a fall of at least 10% in a single session. For Bitcoin, the volatility is such that it is not interesting to count them as it is customary to observe such variations. It is preferable to focus on correction periods, named after these more or less sudden downward movements, stopping a general upward trend, affecting assets that are probably overvalued. They may lack fundamental reasons or simply obey a profit-taking by investors. Here are all those that have exceeded 30%.

The worst correction observed occurred between November 2013 and January 2015, causing Bitcoin to lose 87% of its value in 411 days. This collapse is similar to the one currently underway, but 2014 was also marked by the bankruptcy of MtGox, at the time the world's leading trading platform (nearly 80% of flows). Many users had lost access to their Bitcoins, throwing a great wave of pessimism into the area. Nothing to do with 2018, as favorable news from Wall Street is accumulating.

The question now is how far will the 2018 correction go? Can it go to zero?

In the case of a company, even if it is bankrupt, the value of its walls or machinery prevents it from reaching this threshold. For Bitcoin, you have to ask yourself what its core value is.  What value can this have in Europe? Almost nothing, given that our banking system works relatively well. But the question must be asked differently in other parts of the world, such as Venezuela, where Bitcoin is increasingly being used to escape hyperinflation in the bolivar (the IMF expects +1,000,000% over the year). In Caracas, it is perceived as a store of value and a way out of an authoritarian state.

Bitcoin's weakness lies in the effectiveness of its protocol, which allows you to send value online without the need of a trusted third party. The level of his course is ultimately of enormous importance.

Tl;dr - bitcoin is never going back to zero. With the number of rise and falls bitcoin has had in its entire existence, it's not surprising anymore to see such steep falls and insane climbs. No matter how many financial experts state that bitcoin is dead after a steep fall, the market always decides otherwise, and we see it climb after a short while. With the number of infrastructures established and organizations involved, it's almost impossible for bitcoin to fall to zero no matter how hard the crashes be.

With the growing number of infrastructures and institutional investors in Bitcoin, I think it possesses substantial market value.

After ten years of staying in the market, Bitcoin has already proven that it is here to stay, and the market movements has become very common and should not be the reason for talks about bitcoin dying
I don't see it's value getting to the zero mark, it may not have physical value, but there are lots of supports which would keep the price above that range.

Bitcoin did not die and will not die. At least, not in the nearest future. The usefulness of bitcoin is not just in its worth as a store of value but also as a medium of exchange. It is worth much more than its daily fluctuations in value.

It will never go to zero unless there are zero miners available for mining bitcoin till the time bitcoin is minable. But that is never going to happen. Bitcoin price has always been fluctuative since its inception. Those who have invested during late 2017, are probably crying foul if they are not identifying the current opportunity.

No one knows how far the current situation will go. In fact no one will be able to tell you for sure! All we can do is speculation. So I would refrain from doing that but I am not loosing my hope on bitcoin.

That's right even though the price of bitcoin is decreasing it does not mean that bitcoin will die because this year not only does Bitcoin fall but all the coins also experience it, and I'm sure also later Bitcoin and other crypto will recover and soar too

Bitcoin will die one day for sure but the fall from 6k to 4k can't be called as death. Just like the author says it died hundred times already, if to count every drop as death. I do not know when bitcoin will totally disappear, but what is happening today is not the end for sure.

Blockchain does not care about the price of Bitcoin or what the media is saying about it - it just works and continues to create a new block of transactions every ten minutes. Until it stops, he is alive. It just keeps moving forward, one block at a time, step by step.

How did you say that bitcoin died 320 times? Do you have basis? Or your basis was the dumping of value blog bitcoin?  Because if dumping is your basis you are wrong that is not the basis of being bitcoin died and bitcoin will never die. Bitcoin or cryptocurrency  was always fluctuated and this is normal and not the sign of 320 times died. You didn't understand what are you saying.

And this is the truth that has happened a great number of times:

I am surprised that people are so surprised that the price has dropped by 80%. Just look at the historical charts to see that it has happened several times and I am sure that it will happen many times more ...  8)

Yes, you correctly noticed that bitcoin has already experienced such falls when the news was even worse. But now we see what he's capable of. Even if this fall takes a long time, we will still come to growth. Don't even doubt it.

I don't even know what else can make people believe in bitcoin. Enough to see what he had achieved. With each drop in prices, many are beginning to bury bitcoin, unfortunately it will never end apparently. But I still believe in him and I have no doubt that he will survive.

when you look at the history you can always see a lot of topics on this all over the internet where they talk about bitcoin's death just because price has dropped down! and so far at least 90% of them have been posted by those people who wish for the price to go a little lower so that they can buy more bitcoin.

at times like this, there is always a lot of topics doing the same under a different pretense while they try to hide the FUD with a mask.
as soon as rise starts this becomes more severe as they miss the opportunity to buy since they were waiting and then it vanishes suddenly as the same FUDers start FOMO buying.

No bitcoin didn't die, hasn't die and won't die.
Even if we say bitcoin has died, then we shouldn't been still hearing about bitcoin or neither will it have value in the market again but will read -0.00000000..... with negative value, but it isn't and that says it didn't die. Just that, there's a very bad plunge in the price over month's.

Agreed. The only way that Bitcoin will go back to zero is when everyone loses internet access around the world or if everyone dumps Bitcoin which are both totally unlikely which is why I always say that Bitcoin is here to stay.

The question is how many alternate cryptocurrencies can survive in the long term? My answer is that it is a small number(Less than 200 most probably) which is a good thing in hindsight since only the strong and popular coins will survive.

well in my opinion people define "survival" wrong when it comes to altcoins! as you can see there are currently more than 2000 altcoins in the market and they have "survived" in the long run. many of them were created years ago and now are so cheap that you can't even buy then with bitcoin. you have to pay something like 1 Dogecoin to buy 100 of it. that is how cheap they are!
well that is not survival. survival of a cryptocurrency is when the yare used as a crypto-"currency" which is not the case for 99% of them so 99% of them are already dead although having high ranks in market cap.

this is not a correction anymore. this is more of a manipulation and because of that you can not predict its bottom. but the only thing you can be sure about is that no matter how strong the whales who are manipulating the price are, they will never be able to crash the market as much as bringing it to 0.

Bitcoin will also be declared the 321st death, the 322th... As with every prediction you see, the various prophets will always use such sensational headlines to attract our attention.
I have ignored the unrealistic predictions, they have no real value and are not worth reading.
I think that I believe in my own judgment and believe that the future of crypto is enough. As for the future price, we will only know when it happens.

Bitcoin will never weary, nor has he ever died, that is the current state that will improve over time and come to a state like it used to be.

Do not trust the banking system. If we knew how it works, it would be long gone. Bitcoin was invented to exclude intermediaries, with which he copes very well. Transactions are fast enough and without locks. I know a lot of people who use bitcoin to transfer funds to relatives and friends in other countries. You underestimate the digital asset too much. His success is yet to come. It is not necessary to listen to various experts on Finance. They don't know what they're dealing with. Bitcoin is unpredictable now. I firmly believe that bitcoin will take its place in the modern world and we will see its flourishing. However, I do not dare to analyze its value.

when bitcoin falls to a low value or at least down to 50%, surely everyone immediately says that bitcoin will die but the fact is bitcoin is still alive today. so there is no reason to say that bitcoin is dead just looking at the market that the price is falling. soon the price of bitcoin will definitely rise again, because now it has entered the final Q4 and soon will enter Q1.

Any fiat apologist can write any article against the bitcoin to suit their capitalist masters milking the people their hard earned income by way of cooporate robbery. But these guys will secretly be amassing bitcoin via a proxy account and laugh in the secret at weak hands when the bull run sets in. I really don't pay attention to such trouble makers because sooner they will retire into their shells when everything stabilizes.

Everything changed since Bitcoin futures were introduced. When was it? A little over a year ago, right?

Well, I do not consider a decline in price as death of Bitcoin, if it is death then Bitcoin might be immortal because it goes back to life after such death surpassing its previous milestone.  I believe these kind of terms is just to sensationalize the news.  To have more impact and catch more interest of the readers.  Oh well, that is how news goes, not spiced  word will not cater interests.  News publishing is a business after all.

But it haven't died and will never. Maybe the price never arrive $20.000 levels but will survive for sure. There are millions of people invested the bitcoin billions of dollars, and every new day this community getting bigger. So you need to trust little bit more to bitcoin.

it is normal in the sale or price of bitcoin to go up and down as any time it goes up and down it gives different opportunities for people to come into the bitcoin business in terms of purchasing bitcoin and anytime it increases in price it gives investors a reason to cash out and make much more money.

Exactly, according to some people Bitcoin has died a countless times so far. That is why all this threads about Bitcoin being dead are actually going on my nervs.
This is not the ideal situation, the price is low, it's possible that it will go even lower. But that is how Bitcoin is functioning, it's the essence of volatility and that also means that price can't go up all the time. But that still doesn't mean that Bitcoin will vanish from the scene.
But it looks these days like only few will have enough patience to wait for price to recover.

Yeah I agree with your opinion mate. Bitcoin won't die instead multiply as adoption is quiet increasing nowadays by merchants, businesses, countries anywhere in the world. When we say "die" meaning there is no signs of life in that particular coin it's value and volatility will not tell us about it's status when it become a dead coin as long as people keep on holding, using and trading Bitcoin then it is alive and could someone give me reasons why Bitcoin will die and when?

You really can't say it is dead just because the price went down a little or the price went down really hard. If you're gonna ask me, I think the basis for saying that a coin is dead are things like people have no interest in the coin anymore, no one is investing in it, and the price is stable in a negative way.

Hear hear! But don't get too complacent about Europe and your banking system - they keep the QE going and sooner than later you'll be reevaluating Bitcoin's core value for Europe.

What does "die" means for bitcoin? I always see this kind of thread. I am not sure if they are just spreading FUD, for their own interests or whatsoever reasons. Is the death of bitcoin means going zero or no value at all or death means also decreasing its value to the most unbelievable downtrend? As for me, means no life at all or zero. If bitcoin goes to zero and people just neglect bitcoin this is the time that bitcoin really dies. Sonetimes i dont like to read the whole content of an article, its just creating confussion on me.

HOpefully bitcoin will not going put to its end. For all I know that other countries are already accepted it and regulated. However, there are big and developed countries that are not because its ideology is opposite to their ideology so it will not going to work well especially in the USA where the US government had implemented some strict regulations of their citizen on joining cryptocurrency.

If we knew how banks work, we would have stopped using them long ago. As for bitcoin, it has undergone many changes over the past year. About all can be read in the official sources. In addition, a lot has been done to further bitcoin was as a full asset for all citizens. More and more developments are in favor of institutional investors. In addition, the traditional market is not in the best condition. It is possible that another crisis is coming. Given all this, bitcoin has a very good future.

Now Bitcoin is getting more difficult to return to ATH than ever before, because in the past Bitcoin was only popular among a small group of people, and the bull market in 2017 undoubtedly made more people attention Bitcoin, but Bitcoin’s decline of more than 80% in 2108, I bet that many potential investors have been scared away.

The fact is that even after such a correction BTC stilll holds almost 3x the value it had before the last bull run... and everyone in economy knows these things go in cycles... so mr. Roubini... go preach somewhere else...  ;D

For some people, bitcoin is a tool that will not lose its price, bitcoin already has a market and many people in this world have bitcoin and trade in it. Surely, this is a reason that bitcoin will always have a price, regardless of the price decline. And also, technology is always evolving, there will be new things to develop the technology so they believe bitcoin will continue to be valued.

when bitcoin falls to a low value or at least down to 50%, surely everyone immediately says that bitcoin will die but the fact is bitcoin is still alive today. so there is no reason to say that bitcoin is dead just looking at the market that the price is falling. soon the price of bitcoin will definitely rise again, because now it has entered the final Q4 and soon will enter Q1.
Bitcoin is not doing well at the moment on the crypto market. As a matter of fact, this is not the first time that bitcoin has dipped in price, so we are all hopeful that bitcoin would bounce back strongly than ever before.

I still have hope on bitcoin. Bitcoin has been seen from inception that it price stability cannot be determine by any expert either by speculative or by influence but bitcoin choose it ways of operations when it come to market price. The bearish market for 2018 is just a repetitive incidence that happened back in 2015-2016 before the bull run in late 2017, so, bitcoin will bounce back for another bull.

the correction will clearly continue until the spring of 2019 until there is a process of calm and investors will not have an interest in the cryptocurrency again.

What do you mean about die? Because for me the meaning die is do not have any worth or easy to say that there is no value on a certain thing. In addition, I can't see any image that bitcoin die and I think it is not possible that the top 1 cryptocurrency will die.

I think the decline of bitcoin this year might be the result of its high growth abd the cryptocurrency js just following a cycle. This current decrease of bitcoin's value will give us also the opportunity to buy the coin at a lower price. I'm no longer new to some people that claim bitcoin is dying because it is been proclaimed dead many times in the past.

Op most likely meant that btc dropped to concerning lows a lot of times already. Not actually die as in literally lose value. In btc's 10 years, there have been a lot of times it happened, and you can include the recent "crash" To that. Though historically, bitcoin has risen quite well from every death 😁

Bitcoin is not dead and will not die. It is very unlikely that bitcoin will fall even lower now. At the moment, stabilization is observed, after which rapid growth will begin. Most likely growth with the buildup. Even if someone disagrees with me, this is absolute truth, because everything is subject to the simple laws of the market.

We cannot be sure about it yet .  right now the value of btc is still going down and we dont know if this will continue until the value reaches to zero  but we cant also say that bitcoin is dead because we can still see that it has a value .  instead we can only say that btc is experiencing a difficult situation but this is only normal and it is only part of the crypto cycle .

At the end of the day we should not worry at all because this only a test for all of us . this can easy tell if who is the weak handed or the ones that have a solid faith in crypto .

I agree. It doing good in the market and adapt as payment method on some stores specially online. I do not think that it is going to due that easily. The continuous growth of crypto is just because of bitcoin and it came into the huge adoption of the community.  Even of how many dips to come,  I don't feel any worries cause it recovers again.

bitcoin did not die becauase if it died then why it has a value and still working properly ? what did happen on the past and including today are only a market correction or market crash on where the prices have fallen after a price increase  . bitcoin wont die because it is the main crypto and it is verry useful but other coins can possibly die because no one will have an interest on them  . they dont have a real world usage aside from an investment alone  .

This is a fairy tale and I know where the OP is going with that. Bitcoin has taken so much beating that it is no longer news to get the level of negative criticism and bad press on it. Nothing can kill bitcoin now.

Why a fairy tail? It is more like a non-fiction book, and a series at that.

Bitcoin are still continuing the series despite some people that are not actually watching it wanting to end it, though it will not happen. Its supporters will continue to support it until their lives end. I don't think it will be a fairy tale since we will not be knowing if the ending will be a happily ever after kind of ending. I'll just enjoy and take advantage of it while it is still around, and I hope other people will be doing the same.

there are many ways for people to buy bitcoin at low prices, one of them by spreading the word bitcoin will die but instead on the contrary bitcoin remains alive even though it continues to be reported dead will even grow from before.
be a person who has a strong belief in crypto in order not to get carried away easily when seeing bad news about bitcoin.

In most cases, statements about the death of bitcoin are associated only with the fall of its price. But few people understand that the price level is not the main indicator of bitcoin's success. It is much more important how technology develops and how firmly it is strengthened in the world.

One thing is for sure, if bitcoin hits the bottom it will not last on that level for at least one day because many investors will be more happy to buy bitcoin on that level. We died yet we are still kicking right now and as we move forward, the price will become more expensive.

A crash cannot be called a death because it's temporary and will only last for a small/long period but at a certain moment it will start going up again.
When a bitcoin crash takes place the economy will be affected and that's normal since we are talking about billions of dollars, but think about when the price goes up like it happened when it reached a new record. I'm sure then the economy was much better since it grew with almost 300% in a few months and everyone started buying bitcoin. So a crash is definitely bad, but keep in mind the there are not going to be only crashes and Bitcoin has proven that.

Bitcoin has been announces dead so many times now, that no once really takes any new dead annoruncesment  of the bitcoin blockchain serious anymore.
We are talking about of a currency with a price of more than 3.000 dollars just for one coin. That doesn't looks like a dead currency to me.

People who believe in false information are only people who have weak psychology or they are newbie and they only joined this market recently, they have not understood bitcoin and its movements, that makes them panic and sell when they constantly hear the news of death with bitcoin. But they will soon realize this mistake because these rumors are too often appearing, the main goal it aims at is new people and weak psychology, and people who are happy and controlling after this story are whales, they want to take advantage of ignorance to earn extra money

Well the temptation of an extremely cheap buy would be too much for investors so yeah you're all right that that's one factor that'll keep bitcoin alive. And time will probably come when people will see beyond just bitcoin's monetary value. There's still a long way to go with so much still yet to happen.

We can not know if Bitcoin will die or not because this currency is part of a decentralized system that can not be controlled. Enough might know what could happen in a decentralized system? It is clear that the currency has a tremendous potential, and the price drop does not have to panic. If we talk about the price drop for Bitcoin as the death of the coin, then Bitcoin died 320 times, but he also rose 320 times.

Bitcoin is going through a bad time. It's not always that Bitcoin has passed through a bad time. If you notice a little behind, then you will realize that there is a bad time and good time also for Bitcoin. But bitcoin did not always keep us in frustration. Millions of people brought their lives to bitcoin. At present they now have good positions in the society. So they have always been in peace, but they have to do many straggles. We have to go through this difficult situation now. Because the need for patience to get something good. Be patient. Believe it.

I came to know this recently and it gave me a good believe that no matter how it keeps dying it's keeps coming back strong and big many won't understand now but in due time we will all know that bitcoin is really a strong coin.

Blockchain does not care about the price of Bitcoin or what the media is saying about it - it just works and continues to create a new block of transactions every ten minutes. Until it stops, he is alive. It just keeps moving forward, one block at a time, step by step.

I disagree with this thought. The miner mines and gets reward if the reward is worth nothing then he would not mine invest in mining power and other infrastructure. The somewhere or the other way Bitcoin price and the Blockchain mining are interlinked.

This is ridiculous. How can bitcoin actually die for 320 times? Sometimes I wonder how people speculate false information regarding bitcoin. Perhaps they know little or nothing about it. Bitcoin will forever survive.
Right now, Bitcoin has grown very much in its dominance. This is even the flip side and it turns out Bitcoin - Sunday this summer.
Because of that high dominance, it's impossible that bitcoin will again die, otherwise it would make  altcoins worthless.
When bitcoin dump, people think that bitcoin is gonna die but these newbies has no idea how many times bitcoin is declared dead and bounce back every time, that's how strong bitcoin is and it only died because it was still in the early phase and manipulation is very rampant, in fact, it's like you are gambling here if you don't trust and don't know how to hold patiently.

Newbies and investors should bookmark this page, I check it often like what I'm doing with Coinmarketcap, to see if they added another list of record, this is a big proof that whatever FUDS and bad news they created, Bitcoin is still strong and moving steadily.

Most times, I have also seen many times that bitcoin had really die d and you could think that is really the end of bitcoin, and then within few days, it rises back. There are some cases where a very bad new will even rise up about cryptocurrency and you could think that would cause major damage for bitcoin, then you see bitcoin not even responding to that bad news about and it is when there is actually nothing going on that you see bitcoin making some surprising moves, which is why till date.

Bitcoin can still not be completely predicted by anyone no matter how experienced the person may claim to have been in the industry. Bitcoin will never die and the more people pronounce it dead, the stronger the adoption of bitcoin becomes.

Fortunately it cannot ever go to zero but considering the highest price it had it could easily be taken as zero even if it is close to 1k $ , real zero and physiological zero when it comes in terms of stocks and cryptocurrencies are different ...
Also at the same time it is more than 320 , 320 is the time someone actually noticed .. what about the times no one did ? We have all seen how it struggled for years before it came out to the top ..at the same time there are times when the whole nation wasn't allowed to use that so it's dead for most of the people living there ..
It is already depending upon the time and place ...

What will happen to the world if the main cryptocurrency disappears is a topic that becomes more and more relevant every year. However, very few people discuss the greatest dominance of Bitcoin now, which can be dangerous.

Bitcoin has many negative critics and of course they do not believe on the things that Bitcoin is standing for so they can easily conclude that Bitcoin can be dead every time the coin experienced some problems, obstacles or challenges. Well, to me, this just means that Bitcoin has become some sort of celebrity with supporters and detractors at the same time.

Indeed, bitcoin has become a legend when so many times people predicted and thought it fell into the path of death but within a very short time, it continued to rise and reject the scythe of death, the number that the statistics so far is probably many times, and a scenario that is repeated repeatedly for many years. Bitcoin still trampled on all the bad rumors and kept going forward, I used to think that Bitcoin would die but the truth convinced me and made me continue to believe in bitcoin.

I am also fully convinced that bitcoin will not die, because I believe bitcoin will also continue to grow this year, because now bitcoin price growth will continue to increase
Bitcoin still has a very great future ahead of it, it has not even been regulated and it has gained this relevance, with more big firms coming in to use it as solution, with big financial institutions adopting it now and even the likes of Facebook all coming into crypto space, it only shows that cryptocurrency is just about to begin its growth journey, and bitcoin being their leader will be the greatest coin that will be affected positively, so we could only say that bitcoin has come to stay for life, and just with time, many countries now will start adopting it, and even those ones that are creating their own currency like china would realized that it is not about the coin they will create, but what makes people attracted to bitcoin is because of its decentralization.
