hash wars don't happen because of people paying attention to shitcoins like these two. hashwars happen when they pull the hashrate they own from bitcoin and put it elsewhere. and also it intensifies when they pump that shitcoin so that it creates incentive for miners to switch.
you can't prevent them from pumping their altcoin, the whole altcoin market survives on pump and dumps anyways. it just happens that pump of bitcoin forks have additional damages.

The Dump is being driven by the CHINESE BITCOIN MINERS SHORT SELLING their own coins, because their mining is unprofitable,
and they need the fiat to keep the lights on.

I dumped my BCH back on Bitmain in return for a couple of S9 Antminers.
Hindsight it might have been smarter to just buy some more BTC.
But hey the Antminers are making some BTC, so the ROI is already 100%.. ;D

I agree. The thing that so many people fail to understand is that pulling away hash power from Bitcoin is detrimental to the entire cryptocurrency market in the short term as well as the long term and the current Bitcoin cash debacle is the perfect example to demonstrate this particular problem.

I don't get why people fail to realize that Bitcoin cash suffers from heavier manipulation when compared to Bitcoin or any other altcoin for that matter, but people still continue to invest in it for some or another reason.

Yes, I have also read everywhere if this hash war triggered the collapse of the market, but I only believe if the collapse of the market as such has become something in the scenario to prepare for the second big increasing. I just hope it will become a dream come true in next year.

the problem is that most people have trouble claiming their free BCH fork coins since there is no decent simple wallet to use for dumping it and they are also afraid since they have been scammed with a lot of malware from all these fork coins in the past year. otherwise the BSV and BCH prices would have been dumped a lot harder than this after they forked.

There are many factors affecting bitcoin price, not just the hash war. Even if you could restrict BCH and BSV trade, there is no guarantee that BTC price will rise significantly. Thus, your argument is false.

Furthermore, in a free market, people are free to buy and trade whatever coins they deem worthy. Don't worry too much about this bear market. Just do dollar cost averaging, plus go for the long position, and you will be fine.

Stop buying altcoins would be a better way, not just bch, all altcoins are actually dilutions of bitcoin.
If we can't stop buying altcoins, then the same can't stop people from buying bch.

I couldn't agree more with the post above. The statement in OP is more valid when it comes to the other altcoins then about BCH and BSV.

If everyone sells the altcoins they got, and I'm referring to the ones that literally has no use (and believe me, there are many), the forked coins will have no impact on the market anymore.

The market and everything crypto is really a confusing stuff. There are too many fronts to fight - Government, Whales, and now infighting. It is commonly said that a house divided against itself will not stand. It is looking more like the killer punch of this crypto war is rather within than from outside.

The idea of SV is to keep the Bitcoin protocol on purpose and clean, open to onchain scaling as much as economics and tech is able to allow. Why is that bad?

Only a minimalistic protocol (like smtp, or TCP IP) is really able to bootstrapping world wide and removes all sorts of middle men including protocol devs.

Nothing can stop Bch and SV, both of these coins have been circulating in the market and the market has received it, maybe the time is giving an answer. Indeed, when bitcoin is down and needs time to recover, be patient, everything will go according to the process and promote bitcoin again it's worth doing.

as for BCH it is pretty on paper that if you stop buying bcash it stops affecting bitcoin but in reality you are talking about the market. when they pump bcash you can not stop traders from going in wanting to make profit.

Bitcoin will always do well, some times the market has gone way ahead of itself, and last year was the perfect example of that. What people have a problem with is how the price has gone down a lot in such a short period of time. I'm certain that if the decrease to where we are right now was more of a slower downward spiral, it would hurt way less.

We can clearly see that this is another way of market manipulation by the people who has lot of control of the hashes. Whales, mining farms, huge investors are into this business for them to profit and earn more money. They don't care whether it's bitcoin or an altcoin as long as pure profit is achieved, that's business.

Bitcoin cash is one of the altcoins and later will also have the same value as the others. Bitcoin remains the parent so don't worry about the small shocks of bitcoin cash, all of this will pass and bitcoin will return to its peak.

Dumping your BCH was your choice and whatever reason is that, you just did it because you know to your it was the right thing to do. But I think  it is more likely good to have an Ant-miners that will produce Bitcoin for use where the ROI is surely will give back to you. And in terms of buying  other altcoins for the future savings it is really much good and better to save your own bitcoin and store it to your wallet then hold or be a bullish.

I didn't know Bitcoin needed saving but, yes, I have never bought and will never buy those two anyway.

I do not like those men that run Bitcoin cash and bitcoin SV, you can tell they had a fight with original Bitcoin developers and now all they wanted to do is go out on their own and make more money out of all of us idiots. The evidence behind it is extremely circumstantial. Bitcoin's drop in value slightly coincided with the Bitcoin Cash fork, which also coincided with a mining crackdown in China that made several mining farms unprofitable. No one really knows if these are just coincidences or if one directly affected the others, so everyone's entitled to their own (however educated) conclusions.

The possibility of achieving this is very small, nobody decides for anyone in this ecosystem i.e decision is also decentralized in the world of cryptocurrency. Most investors and traders are attracted to altcoin that have the tendency of being pump.

Hold our bitcoin also can become the best way to stop the decreasing price of bitcoin. I don't see anything bad happening in the hashes. I see it as a short-term problem and will not affect the future of Bitcoin. People will soon realize that the forks of Bitcoin cash is just another way to manipulate the market and prolong the pump and dump scenes.

Indeed the bch incident made the value of bitcoin go down and almost all altcoins followed it. We survive to improve bitcoin, so we will continue to do this for the sake of future bitcoin. But no one can stop the bch, and later will be the same altcoin as the others.

After years of watching the interchange of Bitcoin and altcoins since I arrived in 2013, it doesn't seem like people will ever stop investing in altcoins. There's something about boring markets and bull markets that makes bitcoiners want their coins to work for them. They're always looking for ways to speculate or gamble and increase their stack.

In some sense, at least perceptually, altcoins dilute Bitcoin. However, I think their relationship is more mutually beneficial than that. It can't be just a coincidence that the hash wars occurred at exactly the same time that miners stopped mining bitcoin, and the btc price went down 50%. Bitcoin is the original cryptocurrency, without Bitcoin there will be no other cryptocurrencies available today. Satoshi Nakamoto left Bitcoin even though he has some plans for it. The reason Bitcoin Cash was made, because it was the ideal Bitcoin that Satoshi is wanting. If investors want to buy Bitcoin Cash, that is fine since we can't stop them from buying things they think will be profitable in the future.

It is indeed the cryptocurrency community already aware of the lies that spread the Bitcoin Cash community, and many of them already have a well understanding of what going on. The problem is the newcomer that does not know anything about it, they are eaten by the propaganda that Bitcoin Cash team spread to achieve their own profit.

In general, the whole situation with Bitcion cash is very stupid. Bitcion cash is a Bitcoin fork in itself, but they managed to make 2 more forks from Bitcion cash. This is some kind of absurdity. I really do not like these stories and I don’t invest in Bitcion cash. They have no clear idea, no understanding of further development. I do not understand why you need to use Bitcion cash and not Bitcoin. At one time, it was enough just to think about increasing the speed of transactions and reducing commissions for transfers. It does not matter whether we buy bitcoin cash or not. If we invest in bitcoin, then there is nothing wrong with that. The price of bitcoin can change for many reasons, with this we cant do anything, unfortunately.  To support bitcoin we need to invest in it and spread the word about it.

You cannot dictate other's here to stop buying BCH or any other crypto dude, as long as there is buyer and seller it will always have a repetition on this in the market. What breakup? I see people defending many altcoins especially ETH and XRP but there's really not many BCH supporters out there and it's reflected in its price. BCH is gaining value only when Bitcoin does and when Bitcoin loses value BCH loses much more at the same time. I agree with this. We should not buy bitcoin cash so that the market price of bitcoin be back to green. The demand for bitcoin will increase. The price of bitcoin is currently red in market now. We just have to continue using bitcoin transaction in order for it to become lively.

Bitcoin cash has virtually ended and we have two new coins... Bitcoin ABC and Bitcoin SV. Both are fighting for the mining power, and both coins have no real use. I don't support that theory. What is the reasonable explanation that by not buying Bitcoin cash we could "save" Bitcoin. I don't see any connection. It's true, I didn't see the sense in forks when all this Bitcoin derivate coins appeared but now they are here at the market and you can't stop people buying them. But they don't influence Bitcoin directly and they don't represent any danger for Bitcoin so I can't see the point in that.

I think that Bitcoin was able to defend against BitcoinCash attack  . Most people understand that Bitcoin Cash is a fraud and do not buy it.

I agree because it will help to decrease bitcoin competitors and also help lesses the hash wars. The demand will not subdevided instead they will focus on real bitcoin with higher value.

The competition between hashes is really important to the growth of bitcoin as we know that the greater of percentage of hash a coin have will be the dominant force above the other coins. The value is not always depend on the hash a coin is generating but on the demand of it as it grows  stronger in the industry market. I think that external factors don't really affect Bitcoin as much as the internal factors. Another coin will get the treatment as it deserves but while talking about Bitcoin, we need to focus on improving the adoption of it as well as the utility value of the same. Legal recognization would definitely help for the growth in the adoption rate but users should put some efforts to explain this innovation to others. Anything else is just secondary in my honest opinion.

Newbies that type in bitcoin.com thinking it's the real Bitcoin portal and get to press "buy Bitcoin" see 2 buttons and the top one says buy bitcoin cash, while the bottom one says buy bitcoin core. If you are a newcomer, chances are you'll get confused and buy BCH.

That's a great question. I don't understand why people would buy it. What is their motivation? Nobody uses it for anything and its just as speculative as coins 100x smaller in size. Over the course of the last year its been dying a long, slow death, which was somewhat accelerated after the fork.

I know Ver sold a lot of BTC to buy BCH and that's what pumped it and kept its price from tanking, and Wright probably sold BTC to buy BSV. There is some truth to your statement but the fact is bitcoin has far more actual real world utility than any other crypto -- probably 100x more such utility than Bcash. So, compared to other currencies or traded items, yes, BTC is mostly speculative. Compared to all other cryptos its the least speculative. Bcash is a failed experiment and more of a get-rich-quick scheme, just like SV is currently proving itself to be.

For example, if only 0.001% (or let it be 1%, if you disagree with my number) of all bitcoins is actually used for anything other than speculation, while Bitcoin Cash is not used at all, technically you could say that Bitcoin has 1M times more utility than Bitcoin Cash. But Bitcoin's use would still remain negligible, no matter how negligible the use of other cryptocurrencies is. Just being more useful than the rest of the pack doesn't make Bitcoin more useful on its own

Well this suggestion is true in some aspect because new forks of any original coin always reduces the market cap of the original coin. Anyway i really don't like the idea of these hardforks in generating new coins because they always ruin the market and i believe if we should all decide to stop investing into these forked coins it will help increase the value of bitcoin with time. But yet opinions are like noses and i believe some folks would definitely not buy this idea.

There's no question that more of BCH's price is speculator-driven than BTC, and that's why it's constantly sinking in price compared to BTC. Its a doubling down on inferior tech.

Many people do not realize this and especially the traders. They  (traders) think that to gain profit is their only target and no matter from which coin it comes. Well, failure to scale has driven tons of early adopters away. I'm not saying they would have sold for dollars, maybe they would have invested more heavily in ETH, maybe they would have joined the first exodus from "Store of Value" bullcrappery in Dash (although I'm not a fan of how Dash started at all).


Adding "there's no question" to the beginning of your statement does not make it true. BCH was heavily pumped simply because many people sold BTC for BCH at once - and being early adopters they held a large quantity of it. This is not speculation, or at least not intended as speculation - as those people are not at fault for being in BTC since 2010 and owning large quantities of it.
Also I'm not saying BCH price is not specualtive - I said all of the coins are overpriced, read my post again.
What I meant is that BTC price is determined by what speculators of today think the speculators of tomorrow will price it at.
Whereas BCH price is determined by what speculators of today think the adoption rates will be, driving future price increases. And I'm not a BCH defender - as you can see those speculators are pessimistic. Hash wars and instability have taken their toll. Maybe bitcoin as originally intended is dead for good, who knows.

I don't think that anyone buys bitcoin cash because they still believe in it. At least for me it is pretty clear that it is just a trading instrument. You can short or long it and make some BTC profits. As I said that's my take on it, Bitcoin remains the king and I'm sure everyone will dump BCH and other copycats once we get back into a bull market.

Like the other BCH defender up there, I'm also not a fan of holding the actual coin as it's overpriced as is (15000 transactions is pretty pathetic, even if it has the fundamentals to scale).

BCH is not a copycat, it has its own roadmap that's better aligned with the economic system outlined in the bitcoin whitepaper. You're free to disagree with it, but they have every right to claim what they're claming given that the economic incentives in the system are more closely related to the WP than those of BTC. Bitcoin should be cash, and since I'm not really invested in either BTC or BCH - good luck to LN proponents in achieving cash status, I mean it. But I was also quite disappointed by the "SoV" narrative during the 2017 split.

BCH is also a HORRIBLE trading instrument, because its main fanboys are the early bitcoin community of 2010-2011. If they decide to buy, it's gonna double, maybe even triple in price simply because the market cannot sustain their huge riches.
If they get discouraged, it's gonna dump to $5.
And you can't predictany of this. So how can you trade something that can go in whatever direction it wants at any point in time, you're just gonna lose your money (or make money out of sheer luck, but good traders don't rely on that).

 I guess the reason why bitcoin failed to ascend last year is because of the alternative coins that increased simultaneously with the bitcoin last 2017. Let the market decide the value of Bitcoin. If Bitcoin is the best coin out there, then neither BCH nor BSV will be able to negatively impact upon its exchange rates. And the crypto-users will always go for the coins which are more profitable to them. The same can be said about the miners as well. Calls for boycott are never going to work.

People invest in BCH for the sole purpose of getting rich and multiplying their wealth in multiple times fold and most of them think that BCH will someday overcome Bitcoin and replace it in the top one spot in the future just like my friend who invested on BCH and he thinks that BCH will be more valuable than Bitcoin in the future but I don't think that way. :D

Although this is an old post,  I would say this school of thought is rather naive.. Each currency in the crypto market work independently of each other..  People should be allowed to invest in whatever they wish and lastly I believe there is room for both btc, bch and bsv in the crypto space.. Let's stop the bad mouthing..

I also think that some money was distributed on other altcoins on market and not on bitcoin, but also is true that a lot of bitcoin was selled and people cashout money, either because of need of money either because they make profit or lose patience.

Do you really think that bitcoin money can somehow influence bitcoin? I just hope it will be a dream come true next year. :)

That could be a big reason why bitcoin is not getting so much attention recently, because there are some many altcoins available on the market and some of them seem to grow even when the market is red or in stagnation mod. Investors have dozens of options to choose from and some of them choose altcoins because they are cheaper and can get them a faster profit.

Can't stop laughing because of this post buddy. Buying Bitcoin cash rather than BTC to me  think can't change anything about BTC. Now BTC has widely been accepted more than Bitcoin Cash and it's a must that it can never surpass its price or anything about it. All we have to do is to stay focused on our mother coin and accumulate more of it and that's all....

People need money to sustain their daily living so we want prevent that to happen in every instances mate. Selling bitcoins is a part of a normal trend which we're going to experience day by day, and we can stop those traders who still buy bitcoin cash. The economy will still circulate even though bitcoin was still going to decline during volatility.

I don't think that a lot of the users here have purchased BCH from the exchanges. I received a significant amount of BCH in 2017 after the hard fork, as I was holding BTC in my Blockchain.info wallet. I haven't sold any of these coins, and they are staying there for the past 2 years. And this is the advantage for BCH. A lot of people own BCH, and this includes those who hate this coin.

And in case BCH becomes worthless suddenly, then all of us will be left heart-broken.  ;D

well, I also feel that BCH will not really affect bitcoin. that the quality of bitcoin is still very much better. but, however, BCH is indeed quite good as a trading tool because the price is truly unstable. but, I think people's interest in bch will not reduce the quality of bitcoin.

Comparing Bitcoin with Bitcoin cash is manipulating the market and therefore both of them suffering, pulling Bitcoin cash back will hardly affect the Bitcoin and people will still invest in it for some of the other reasons.

Bitcoin will still be the best coin and have a vast market. So I'm not worried about bitcoin cash.
Bitcoin has its supporters and I am sure that many people use Bitcoin as their main currency in the digital world.
So Bitcoin cash is not an obstacle because Bitcoin has the power of hundreds of times better and has support that is thousands of times better than bitcoin cash.

In this way, Bitcoin Cash doesn't take so much from the regular Bitcoin, which people mostly use as a store of value as well as a long-term investment (I mean both the unbanked ones and typical investing folks), as it takes from Litecoin. But as there is always a silver lining to anything, we can now use Litecoin (as before) and Bitcoin Cash all along as assets instrumental for profitable speculation (while holding tight our real bitcoins)

That is absolutely right, bitcoin cash is not a treat for bitcoin or even other altcoin. Generaly people buy altcoin for their investment which meant that the safe point is bitcoin or fiat. Even the best altcoin (ETH) is only a tool for people who want to send their token, ETH will not survive without it's token. Bitcoin cash will not survive without investors who invest in it and hope that bitcoin cash price is rise in btc-bch pair, bitcoin is much more better than bitcoin cash.

Now, they do depend on Bitcoin. I do not think that if we invest much in Bitcoin cash, we ruin Bitcoin. BTC is a powerful cryptocurrency which regulates their prices. However, the idea to invest in BTC more is good.

The position of BTC cannot be so far undermined by any cryptocurrency. And I fully agree - investing in BTC is making whole crypto industry healthier.
And reputation of BTC is what makes it superior.

Bitcoin Cash came from Bitcoin and all Bitcoin hodlers, when the hard fork is done years ago. We can't control people to buy or not to buy other alternative Crypto Currencies because they are free to do what they want and Bitcoin is created for freedom, freedom to choose. I also think that there is nothing wrong if there is a lot of options to choose from different kinds of digital assets in this speculative industry.  8)

It was free to create segwit. but u've to tell Clients / Investors that it's different now from the White Paper tho and not original bitcoin any more.

Why single out BCH? Why not Ethereum, Ripple or Litecoin? Right now Bitcoin dominance is around 56% and the remaining 44% is composed of various altcoins, including Bitcoin Cash. Every one of these altcoins have poached on the users of Bitcoin. But at the same time, we should remember that despite many of these coins being technologically advanced and supported by big names, they have been unable to dislodge Bitcoin from the top position. And in the near future also, this situation is likely to continue.

Agree with you.BTC is the best decision because of its instant Stock quotes growth and capitalization increase. By the way Monfex stated that the price is starting to consolidate near the $11,800 mark.The fast EMA (200) is starting to make a sideways move, but still showing momentum for Bitcoin .

I don't support bch but it ain't the reason for dump as many believe in the shit , and panic to sell which is an opportunity for great mind people to come in and enjoy the price hike , as we can see now the price as come up now and Stoll going to blow soon again but who never loss will not gain is for those who sell forget that those that bought are also human .
