Original post (edited for consistency):
I was in two minds to post this when Gox imploded, mainly because I have a large scale business plan that I wouldn't want tarnished by what might seen as opportune parasitism, so I put it off until now.

Personally I like the idea of commemorating (commiserating) the Gox debacle. And I'm a big proponent of lemons into lemonade. So who knows perhaps this is a cathartic process for me and my potential customers? And besides if people find this offensive, I can change the design.

With the great uncertainty upon us concerning MtGox, I was inspired to design and mint a commemorative coin of an event that which will no doubt go down as part of bitcoins rich and exciting history.

The coin's face primarily represents the uncertainty surrounding gox, with the now common slang term for gox's questionable actions. After much consideration the obverse will be blank- which I think is appropriate since for many hours Mtgox's website was nothing but a white screen. I will not go as far as to compare it to their balance sheet, as nobody truly knows the state of play at gox right now.

Perhaps gox's failure will go down as nothing but a blip. Perhaps it will be a point of contention for years to come. One thing is for sure though, wether it is an important event for us to look back on or not, it is surely  an important event right now for many of us.
Good or bad, as a community we should learn a lot from what has happened. While I have my own views and concerns of gox's failure I do feel it is important to remember our mistakes with our successes.

Will this usher in an influx of regulation? Is this a victory for the free-market or a catastrophic result of hubris or government intervention?
My idea is perhaps making these coins a present idea for someone new to crypto, a memento for those that saw this coming. A humble reminder for those that perhaps knew the risks and decided it  a risk worth taking.

These coins are NOT meant to poke fun at those unfortunate customers of Mtgox that have funds residing somewhere out there on gox's systems, hopefully in a cold wallet- after all I am one of them. I truly feel for friends and others that have lost significant amounts of coin. Nor is it meant to be a malicious lampoon of Mark Karpeles, but it is an acknowledgement of his involvement. It is in no way my aim to offend anyone.

They will be limited to a single mint run with no more than 500 coins being struck in the plated version and 500 of the silver version, each will contain a mint number card and the option for coin capsules will be added.

For payment I will accept any cryptocurrency, I will also setup a paypal in case people are not able to pay with cryptos. Alt-coins will be dealt with on a case by case basis should anyone wish to pay with a lesser known currency.

I'll accept the current exchange rate, which is why it is priced in £/$ while I'm not really interested in transacting in fiat, though I will if requested.

As to trust please check my profile and my rep thread is here, please check it out and if you are a customer, I'd love to hear what you think of the coins:

Beautiful work, I'd love to see the finished product.
I'm cheaper than mr krabs though so I'm not sure if I'd buy one...
Nonetheless your coins will be in the national Bitcoin museum, which opened in 2040.

So what's the price for each excluding shipping? Will be really nice if there are enough orders for copper coins.  I think I will pick up 15 coins myself.

Thank you for the compliment.

I will be getting probably up to 100 struck in the first run, and depending on what the mint tells me, I'm hoping that I'll be able to strike using copper straight away, though I'm sure the silver plated zinc will look great too.

The prices are in the listing, £3.99 for a single GoxxedCoin :)

Right now the prices are somewhat organic until I settle the final quotation and metal material. But they shouldn't fluctuate much from these prices.

I'll be posting on this thread as soon as I get either the first 100 or test strikes from my manufacturer :)

Just got some info back from my coin maker. Copper is a go! Updated original post.

Love to hear feedback from anyone concerning metals and plating. I'm liking the idea of some part of the minting being plated gold or silver despite going with copper which has a nice hue and tone to it already.

I forgot to mention in my reply there is a discount for 10+ coin and 20+ coin orders.

Would be interested if they were made out of silver or gold. Gold probably just 1 or 2 and silver probably in 20 to 50 range... Depends on price...

Hi lucko, do you mean plated? I have plans for making a certain percentage of the run plated for people and promotional coins.

I think he means solid gold or silver.

I would like these in solid silver

Solid silver is certainly something I can take into consideration. I'm trying to get some better quotes right now, I'll look into PMs too.

Pure silver now available.

Of course, well I've looked into silver in between work and it is something that is certainly feasible, but probably a very limited run to begin with. I'll update the thread when I know more.

See OP.

Good to know! I'm corresponding with a new supplier and I've been thinking about making nice simple design for the obverse. And making the strike bolder and a little more detailed.

Enjoy.
Oh and don't try and work around that too often or the new wife may lay the law down.  LOL

Samples are now in production, should be getting those in a weekend or two. My marriage and honeymoon may clash somewhat with delivery of the first 250 odd coins, but I'm sure I can work around that.

I like the coin! Good luck with your sales and thanks for accepting UNO as payment.

If you ever decide to produce a physical UNO coin, be sure to let me know. There's been talk here off and on, and I know there's interest. It would take someone with your Sr Member status to gain the trust to pull something like that off.

I would love to do something with UNO, it's one of my favourite cryptos. I will certainly keep that in mind for the coming weeks and months and would love to experiment with new strike styles and finishes.

To add variety to the coin I am considering filling a portion of the 500 plated number with gold plating. Does this interest anyone? I know that there is significant interest in a gold coin, but would love to hear thoughts on it.

On the other hand I am loathe to change my stated goals as this is not good business practise. Perhaps it would be more appropriate to do some gold plated as a very limited run for those interested?

I didn't see pictures of the copper.

Are any of the coins stamped with content?
- Meaning, I didn't see the 1 Troy Oz - 9999   anything like that.  (picture of the back?)  (Diff between the plated and the pure?)

Slight interest in the gold strike as well.

Maybe adjust OP for price in dollar and/or btc?

I could read through again; however, on quick glance, I didn't see escrow options.

PS.  I like the idea.  Makes me wonder if I could sell my YubiKey for even a slight fraction for what I have in Gox.  Any interest?   :(   (jk)

Technically the standard coin is copper-zinc (brass), with silver plating and painted. It's more recognizable to put copper in the title.

The coins are not stamped with content- this is something I should have done probably on retrospect. I could film or record the results of an official test if you like?

I'm still in correspondence with my supplier about gold strikes, these would be a new design, with numbers laser etched, purity and weight stamped too.

No escrow is listed, I am happy to use escrow though. Frankly, the sales I have done so far have not merited escrow use, with my post and reputation no one has asked for escrow yet.

I want to keep my gox yubikey as a memento :)

I hope this answers your questions, please let me know if you have any more.

As I wrote somewhere before, I have a simple idea for some UNO related coins. I can start looking into them soon. Thanks for the interest. I'll start thinking about material and design and bounce some ideas around. I'd like to move on from my stencil-like design here and have something simple, memorable, but with more depth than my vector art so far :@)

I admire you for donating 10% to charity. It might not be much, but I think that every person that had BTC on Mt.Gox should be thankful that you are doing this. I love it when people give back to the community. So, thanks a lot for doing this.

To tell you the truth, it will be shipped first thing tomorrow morning! On a Friday I tend to mark items as shipped that I post on Saturday.

I'm glad that you're excited about it, I've had a great time making them.

I know it's not much, but I'm just starting out. I'm hoping that as I build momentum, I'll be able to donate more. It takes a few grand in total to help free an individual from NK. My aim is to raise at least that much in the next year or two for Liberty in North Korea through my projects and donations.

As to people being thankful about me doing this. I and a few of my friends had BTC in there, this project wasn't about poking fun or getting revenge, but about awareness, reflection and perhaps a little humour actually ;)

You and the community are welcome. It's been great fun and I appreciate your purchase.

Ah, no worries man. No problem at all. It won't arrive before I get home anyway, so that isn't a huge problem :P

Well, every bit helps right? We have a proverb for that in The Netherlands: Wie 't grote niet eert is 't kleine niet weerd? (https://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070703123949AA1vJ1s). It sucks that you lost BTC in that bullshit exchange and I hope you can earn a bit back with this project (and upcoming projects). Because you deserve it as well. I wish you all the best!

I would love to mint coins myself, but I have no idea how to do that nor do I have creative mind to think of something nice. ::)

I hope that my small donations help. That's an interesting saying :)

It does suck- but it was my fault for still using them. I knew better, but I was greedy with all the crazy volatility. I actually warned my friends against using them myself! Should have taken my own advice, so should one of my friends in particular!

I appreciate your kind words. If you're interested I'd be happy to share the details of the designing and manufacturing of my coins with you. I had no idea how to go about it until I did this project. It's been a great learning process but I think the best thing has been meeting lots of new people in the community.

We are a interesting bunch of people. Haha.

And yeah greed is one the things that will make you do stupid stuff even if you know of better. I know how it feels as I have gambled a lot on the past.

I would be very grateful if you could share some parts of the process. I would appreciate that a lot. And yes meeting amazing people in the community is great. I meet up with NewLiberty last week. He also makes coins (the cold hard cash ones). Was a great experience

Greed is definitely something that destroys or taints so many good things.
This coin is the start of something good.  :)
Finally as well the review should go live next week and a draft will be to you by sunday.
That should help as well.

With all the news about how people lost their money with MtGox and the ongoing madness with it I saw, a while back, a concept for the Goxxed For The Last Time a (Commiserative) Coin.

Goxxed For The Last Time, A Fall of MtGox (commiserative) Coin
Goxxed For The Last Time, A Fall of MtGox (commiserative) Coin
The coin is a commiserative coin created by Jonny (BigTimeSpaghetti) to commemorate the fall of MtGox.com and its effect on us all. MtGox, the “Bitcoin exchange” that is currently in bankruptcy caused by the loss of millions, has brought back the need to be careful of where you keep your Bitcoins. Mark Karpeles and his shady history did not  make them people think twice about trusting their bitcoins to MtGox. Now we have exchanges proving their solvency and working to be more transparent to assure people that they will not lose their bitcoins. The Goxxed coin brings a bit of solidarity to the MtGox disaster.

They are great coins.  I cannot wait to see what he has up his sleeve for his next coin.

Putting Mark's face on a coin is the last thing I would put on a coin.

Madeoff should have had his face on a coin if using the same logic

First shipment
The first thing I saw when I opened up my package was a piece of laminated paper containing my coin number and the autograph of the creator. It looks quite good and quiet professional. After that I unwrapped the coin and placed it gently in my hand. The first thing I noticed is that the coin itself is quite heavy, way heavier than I expected. Another peculiar thing is airtight case it comes in. Why you ask? Because it's not flat like most cases. This one is a bit rounder on the top and the bottom. I like it, even though it took me a while to adjust to this concept.

You know what I also received today? A shipment of Coin Stands, which resulted in the following picture.

Second shipment || Website payment
Well, this package was a lot larger and heavier (even though it said "Featherpost" on the back). Getting the coins out was a real challange (https://i.imgur.com/5iVCrcu.jpg). This time I received a Silver Goxxed Coin and 5 Fine Silver Plated Error Coins. I had a hard time figuring out what the silver one was, once I unpacked them all. The only way you could tell is if you look at the thickness of the coin. The Fine Silver Plated ones are a lot thicker. After that I checked out the error coins with my first coin and I couldn't find any errors (except a splash of paint on the side of one of the coins). But that must be me, I bet that bigtimespaghetti could spot them in a second. Anyway, I am, currently, the only one that has these error codes. They are number 301 till 305 and I like them. I am glad that I got paid this way.

I tried to pack them securely, the silver is lighter and should have been labeled for you, but probably got ripped up from the packaging.

And yeah, they were definitely packed securely. So secure that it was really hard to get them out, hahaha. You did mark it, but after I unpacked it, the coin got mixed with all the other coins when I tried to make pictures. Whoops :-X

Hi Guys!

I have 2 pure silver coins left from my initial strikes- these are numbers 19 and 20 and will be the last 'unnumbered' coins sold. They come with certificate of authenticity. After this all my pure silver strikes will be laser engraved with their numbers. I will probably reduce the number of these strikes significantly as the initial aim of 500 was a little high. There will be no more than 100-250 of these coins struck.

With the silver price the way it is these rare and unique strikes should be a nice addition to your collection :)

Let me know if you're interested!

I'm tempted to buy the #21 error coin just because it looks like he spilled mustard on his suit.

There are 17 Goxxed coins left (including 4 discounted smudged coins). I'm also open to negotiating a bulk discount for these before I get another small run numbering 45+.

The bars are technically available now, but I need to get stickers and holograms ready for the UNO community for them, but if you are interested in them for investment purposes, I can arrange a discount for the bars to be sold as they are, I'll be getting a run of about 20 bars ready soon, there are only a handful readily available right now, there is a video preview here:

Been very busy with moving to Amsterdam lately, but getting settled.

I have a great sale on all my silver coins.

Regular strikes are now only £23.50 each.

Further discounts can be applied for bulk order, for example I would be willing to go as low as £21 each for an order of 5+ coins.

Only around 12 regular strikes left (see OP for numbers).

and I have 2 slightly smudged coins available at the super low price of £19 each.

Plus shipping.

I'm based in The Netherlands, so shipping in this country is free, any other country applies +£3 for shipping, bulk orders (5+), the shipping is free.

Send me a message and we can work out a deal!

Also available for face to face transactions in Amsterdam.

Please help out if you have the spare cash to try and get more people out of that terrible country:

Liberty in North Korea (http://www.libertyinnorthkorea.org/)

Or you can pick up some Goxxed For The Last time pure silver coins! :)

I just checked this thread and saw the price of the silver plated coins in the OP. The solid silver is one of the coins that have been on my To-Buy list for a minute now (along with one of your UNO bars), but at the moment I have to double-down on saving for a second bundle-of-joy to be joining our little family in April!  However, I can afford to spend £5 worth of BTC for one of the silver plated (+ Intl. shipping to US), and I'm itching to buy a new coin!

Please let me know if you still have one of the plated you could sell, and if so please shoot me a PM with a Bitcoin address & quote for £5 equivalent. It will be promptly paid and shipping details will be provided!

I'm sure the plated version still looks beautiful, and it will be a nice stand-in/reminder for myself to get the solid version ASAP.

Thanks!

Just wanted to pop back in here and say that I received my coin days ago and love it! The shipment was quick for international and the coin arrived in great condition!

The Silver plated coin I received is very nice and a steal of a deal for the price! I recommend it to anyone who is into physical crypto coins and on a budget- grab one for cheap before the last ones sell out! And I will be back in due time for the solid .999 version of course!

Here's some quick pics, already had camera and gloves out to take pictures of some bullion coins for eBay when I received this package.

Can anyone clarify the mintage numbers for these coins?

The encyclopedia lists the solid silver as having 500 made with an additional "3" made for the anniversary coin.

This seems off, as I have a few of the solid silver anniversary here.......

There will be no more than 100-250 of these coins struck.

http://s26.postimg.org/4msf1ix2d/20140704_092148.jpg (http://postimg.org/image/4msf1ix2d/)

With the silver price the way it is these rare and unique strikes should be a nice addition to your collection :)

Let me know if you're interested!

Hi minerjones, I've been meaning to put exact mintage numbers up for a long time.

There were no where near 500 actually struck in the end - that was just an upper limit. And also the encyclopedia seems off to me- must be a mistake. I do not think that more than 100 pure silver strikes were made off the top of my head.

I will compile them and put them up here and disseminate the numbers, while also putting them on my site soon. I have time this weekend and since you're interested this is probably the best time to do it.

Shout out to minerjones for poking me to get these numbers out finally.

After double checking my notes the mintage is as follows these numbers include error/smudge/unique spilled mustard (lol) coins:

180 'original' - silver plated, unnumbered
20 pure silver 'original' - unnumbered
31 pure silver numbered (numbered from 21 onwards)

120 silver plated commiserative numbered
120 gold plated commiserative numbered

Total: 420 plated, 51 pure silver

I'll be first to admit my book-keeping was not stellar on this, so apologies for any mix-ups. But these are checked against my notes and manufacturer orders.

Please also note that numbers have been rounded up as approx 50-80 original plated and silver/gold plated and commiserative were never sold and will be melted down when I buy a new smelter (last one shorted out and have not purchased a new one, crappy chinese made).
Bringing the actual plated amount in circulation to closer to 350-370

Open to any corrections but I believe these numbers to be fully accurate.

Will update the thread with the 'melted/discarded' coins when they are turned into ingots or something. I'll provide a video of it for veracity, but this may be months down the line yet, like I wrote, need to source a decent smelter. Have my eye on one from the UK...

Submitted another update to the mintage in the above post- missed some notes and it has been corrected. Turns out the mintage was actually closer to the 500 limit than I thought.

I will submit final mintage in circulation when I have melted the unsold coins.
