Title: Forum is now Deleting Negative Posts - Imagine Reality if the Negative Stayed?
Post by: btc-room101 on December 16, 2018, 10:55:21 PM
Well current situation reminds me of last Dec 2017, every negative post on this forum was deleted or poster banned, and that didn't stop the price fall,

So now we head towards xmas, and once again the 'gods' of this forum delete negative information on hopes that the collapse of btc to zero will cease.

Just pointing out the obvious that in the worse of times the 'gods' do the worst of things.

That the forum just be a 'confirmation circle jerk', as not to be the original goal of bitcoin, that now the only mission of this forum is price support it telling that China, Bitmain, Antminer, Alibab-Amazon OWN this forum. Note also this forum is hosted by amazon-aws, who work directly with Antminer which is owned by Jack Ma, a major share-holder of  amazon, richest man in china, and new head of chinese communist party.

Not just Negative Posts, they censor anything they don't want to be known.

Provide links proving N@S is pure fiction , and the entire topic gets deleted.

Show Valid points of problems btc devs have never addresses, and the entire topic gets deleted.

And they wonder why their ad revenue is dropping, they kill all of the interesting posts with their cover ups.  :P

First rule of bitcoin, never mention 'Jack Ma' the owner of BITCOIN COMMUNITY, and head of Communist Party China. Never mentions the ties of Alibaba & Amazon, and that Amazon hosts this forum, but Alibaba owns BITCOIN +90% by virtue of owning BITMAIN and a majority of chinese mining pools +90%

Show me some examples?
Make one (a thread) and PM me the thread link so I can watch and see if it disappears..

Move this to meta..

The founder of this forum is also a crator of bitcoin and ofcourse negative news for bitcoin are not helpful for those people didn't know about bitcoin as currency so it's better to delete negative post than to spread to people especially if the news is fake and unsubstantial support all about cryptocurrency markets.

What exactly do you want to say? Are you suspecting the forum that this forum is partnered or connected to aws-amazon?
and how do you know that Antminer or Bitmain owned by Jack Ma?

Your theory is invalid they are not connected they use amazon-aws to make a static IP and hide the real IP to protect the forum from attackers.

If your old account was being banned due to plagiarism this is not a right place to bring your dissatisfaction.

Ok,
The Nothing at Stake Myth is pure fiction , it is no threat whatsoever to a Proof of Stake coin.

CONCLUSION
For both cases of fork with honest nodes and cases of forks with malicious actors, there is in fact “something at stake”.
For the particular arguments presented against Proof of Stake,
it can be said that Proof of Stake may actually have more robust incentives for its peers and proof holders to stay on the main chain than does the Proof of Work system.
What is worth more, a person’s entire coin holdings for Proof of Stake miners or a few minutes of electricity consumption for Proof of Work miners?

Was this in the altcoin section or Bitcoin discussion?
It could rightfully be deleted if it wasn't under the altcoins section.

I don't get the connection for that information being negative or bad for Bitcoin either. Vulnerabilities in POS coins if anything are a positive for BTC.

There is a big difference between deleting negative posts and deleting posts that are just rehashed versions of previous posts, I don't believe that posts are deleted just because they are negative. It would be nice if we could have some originality in the original posts not more of "bitcoins dying, bitcoins a scam etc etc"
When you consider the number of posts and replies to them, the moderators do a pretty good job but naturally they may miss some that need deleting and delete some that don't.
I would like to see more discussion on how we as a community can promote Bitcoin and explain to the uninitiated that Bitcoin is here to stay and is the future.

Horseshit.  If the rule about low quality posts was being fully enforced, most of the topics on the front page would be deleted because they're just worthless merit bait and every low quality thread seems to spawn ten more saying exactly the same thing on the same issue, making the forum virtually useless for actual discussion.

Give some examples of high quality "negative" posts which have been deleted if you want to prove that this is happening and get people to join you in opposing it.

Actually Mr. Asshole, it was in a discussion on PoS & PoW in a technical forum where it was posted.
And it was relevant to the discussion because morons like you keep bringing it up like it is real , when it is pure fiction.

I don't discount the statistical probability that, of the many dozens of times you've posted about PoS, you might have managed to do it in a relevant thread on at least one occasion.  But it's usually in topics where it doesn't belong, such as this one.

FIAT USD is backed by murder, if columbia doesn't sell its cocaine in USD, then the CIA goes in and changes cartel heads,

If saudi doesn't sell its oil to the world in USD, then CIA goes into Saudi and finds a new family to run the concession

At this point in time, BTC has no mercenary army to threaten death upon the world for failure to adopt.

Do the people  here really want BTC to be back by murder, like the US Dollar?

No, the infraction that the OP got a post deleted for was making two posts in a row in the same thread, (The posts can have different content.) not for making duplicate posts in separate threads. If someone feels that they must add more to their thoughts, they should just edit their current post or wait for someone else to be able to respond. Also, if someone wants to respond to more than one person, they should consolidate all their responses in one post, rather than post a string of separate posts for each response.

I'm not certain if the posts that you reported are against the rules. the only rule that I could find that it is close to violating is this one:
Quote
12. No duplicate posting in multiple boards (except for re-posting it in the local language boards if it's translated).
However, both posts are in the same Board.

Bullshit.
We need all of even the craziest theories to keep the mainstream in check. If those in power could just label anything they want a "conspiracy theory" then they could silence any dissenting opinion they wanted.

Limitation of speech is the worst enemy of mankind.

I would have battled alongside this OP if he had a case..

Bitcointalk is not not a government entity and can control the content anyway that it sees fit. If I submitted a "letter to the editor," to a newspaper and they failed to publish it, are they infringing on my free speech? If I submitted a book to a publisher and got a rejection letter, would my free speech rights be infringed? I don't think so.

Sorry bud, but meta has only ~366 pages of posts.
the Discussion forum has over ~1236 page of posts.

Everyone reads the discussion forum, very few users actually waste time reading meta, it is just too boring.
Which is why it is a good place to bury / hide a topic if you want to keep the general reader from seeing it.

1 second , you claim btctalk has no obligation to free speech, only censored speech their mods approve of,
the next second, you claim they can refuse because of the rights of the press.

Next thing that you will be spouting will be that the "ignore" feature is a gross infringement of people's freedom of speech.  ::)  People can blather on all they want. It does not entail an obligation on my part to read or listen. Want to post here? Ewww you are defending censorship, gross...

Yes Theymos can censor anything he wants because this is his private property and by US law he can do about anything he wants on his private property (except all of the freedoms the US gov takes away from you even on your private property). Just because it is legal doesn't mean it's right and certainly doesn't mean it is parallel with Satoshi's Bitcoin.

"It's fine that the forum is censoring anything negative about Bitcoin, it's their right" - Really?

I think Theymos strives to set a better example for freedom than just what the US law provides.
The US law is one of the best currently enforced, sure, but it is still a far cry from ideal (depending on who you ask).

Would your really be alright with moderators censoring any and all negative facts and opinions about Bitcoin?
I'd be gone..
But it doesn't, so I'm here, and OP is just full of shit / trolling..

For OP.

It's not that hard to figure out and follow the rules or you will be moderated accordingly. This forum is extremely lax in rules, and enforcement for most of them. You can see that in the response from theymos where you haven't been issued a ban but have been given a warning and an explanation.

Sounds like multiposting is your issue, if you realize you have more you want to say just learn to use the edit button, it's super easy.

AFAIK (for what it's worth) none of the mods have engaged in systematic censorship of content based on a poltical agenda or the desire to shape the perception of an event / entity /concept / etc. in a certain way. We do routinely moderate stuff that hinders other people's ability to follow and / or participate in a discussion though - see the rule thread (stickied in Meta).

As for whether it's free, there is no on/off switch when it comes to platform moderation censorship - otherwise 99% of platforms used for discussion would fall under the "censored" category. If I had to place Bitcointalk on the scale, it'd definitely lean more towards the "free" side, probably more so than quite a few other forums.

And as with all of these "sovereign citizen"-like meme beliefs, a relevant xkcd is in order:

https://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/free_speech.png

(source https://xkcd.com/1357/ (https://xkcd.com/1357/))

P.S. I am not implying that the expectation of Bitcointalk being a platform open for all kinds of discussion is a ridiculous idea (on the contrary, it's size and direct association with Bitcoin sort of obligates it to hold itself at a higher standard of freedom of discussion). I'm merely highlighting the fact that expecting the forum to not have any moderation is naive, if not moronic.

P.P.S. As for the Hitler comment, see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law)

Hitler felt the same way.

That is a slippery slope you're on.

"Freedom of the press" also involves the right of the press to refuse to publish anything. Otherwise, the government can insist that they publish propaganda, or else...

Deleting it would be proof, so they just hid it in meta,
ie: plausible deniability
Trolling  ::)

Anyway, I was more responding to the comment "Conspiracy Theory is the worst enemy to man kind." in general than to the OP.

How is it trolling , when I have personally witness the mods delete entire topics to censor what they don't want known.
*Their is a difference between moderation when rules are broken and pure censorship to hide information , when no rules were broken.*
*The mods that delete/lock entire topics merely to make sure their false propaganda is never challenged. *
*Sad those mods don't know the difference. *

Imagining it seems to be about as close as you are likely to get to reality!

Conspiracy Theory is the worst enemy to man kind.

It isn't the theory that is the enemy, but the conspiracy itself.

I feel like I should chip in here since I reported several of btc-room101's posts yesterday, which were all marked as good. As pointed out, several were for multi-posting, and a couple were for whole threads in the wrong section - one was a thread speculating on the price by Christmas posted in Bitcoin Discussion, for example. I have never reported a post simply for disagreeing with it, and I have never seen a person who complains about being censored on these forums having an actual case - they are always breaking a forum rule.

The fact that he regularly churns out 5 new topics and 20 new posts in the space of an hour, all with the same jumbled, barely comprehensible word salad, peppered with calling everyone else on the forum a moron and batshit insane, and that 98% of his posts aren't deleted, is proof enough that he isn't being censored for his opinions, but only when he breaks other forum rules. The fact is that his trolling would have resulted in a ban a long time ago on many other forums - the fact he is still allowed to post the same nonsense 20 times a day about how we are all retards, bitcoin is dead, and the Chinese own everything is testament to the non-censorship policies and moderation in bitcointalk.

Regardless, if you are really having so much trouble following the few rules we do have, and think that that somehow equates to being censored, you are more than welcome to go and start your own forum.

Both btc-room101, and Zin-Zang are alts of other already banned (and/or neg. rated) trolls. The irony here is that the forum is actually way too liberal, not the other way around. I wonder what hilarious and mprep are waiting for with this case.

They probably wouldn't reach a post count of 10 elsewhere given the ridiculous amount of lies that they're posting.

Post should be deleted if it breaks any rule. I do not think admin or moderator is deleting/will delete any post if you say something negative. There are a 1000s posts where people said provided negative opinion.
