Better invest in crypto currency, or gold. But not in precious stones

If you're from the U.S - https://www.gia.edu/ (https://www.gia.edu/)
Or just find any gemologists, they sure know about the industry of precious gems.

The problem with your plan is as soon as you try to sell the gemstone, you will have to sell it at a loss as "second hand" or you won't sell it. Buy it for a piece of jewlery for your significant other/yourself, but I don't think this is a good business plan.

Yes, I agree. I've heard about cryptos being backed by Gold, but up to this point, there hasn't been a cryptocurrency which is backed by gemstones. That would be awesome, since you'd get to invest into Diamond, or other valuable gemstones without actually owning them. It would be some sort of a digital token that would live in a blockchain (either Ethereum or EOS) which can be exchanged to physical gemstones at any time or viceversa (similar to Digix DAO).  :)

Thanks for the tip! I've thought that gemstones were a good investment after all, since some of them are extremely rare (like Diamonds). What I've noticed is that depending on the color and size, will be the valuation of that specific gemstone. As far as I know, transparent diamonds are the most valuable (please correct me if I'm wrong), followed by other colors such as Yellow and Pink.

An online store or marketplace which would allow us to exchange crypto to gemstones would be ideal.  8)

Any other recommendations of places where to buy genuine gemstones will be highly appreciated. I'm interested in buying gemstones online for investment purposes. But the key is to determine whenever a specific site sells genuine gemstones or fakes.

All in all, I'm open to any suggestions.  :)

Well; pretty much any established retailer with physical address from EU, USA or Canada should be selling genuine gemstones. Are you in pursuit for raw or cut gemstones?
Here is a short list of some of the established retailers (I ordered something from edelsteine.at once and everything was OK; I don't have the first hand experience with others):

https://www.crystalclassics.co.uk/
https://www.irocks.com/
http://www.johnbetts-fineminerals.com/
http://www.topminerals.cz/?lang=en
https://www.edelsteine.at/en/gemstones/top-gemstones/

Also worth considering is investing in Moldavite - although it's not  a gemstone (it's a tektite); the supply is limited and the price should go up with years...
But; you should do a research on your own - I gave you the starting points...

I'm looking for cut gemstones. I'd prefer online dealers for convenience, than visiting a store physically. I will check the given links closely to determine which store is suitable for me. As long as, genuine gemstones could be shipped to my home with ease, I'll be investing into them periodically. Thanks for this, and for letting me know about Moldavite. I'll investigate more about it later.  ;)

Its quite difficult to find a source for real stones. If you find a website that is legitimate and selling to the general public, the prices are going to be exorbitant. Your best bet is to look for local gem shows. I can't say the prices will be fantastic there either, but you can make the connections to finally get what you want.

It also might be worth checking with your local gold refiners. When people bring in broken jewelry, they cut the stones out and sell them to dealers as well.

Shopping at online stores is indeed sometimes dubious. But, if I may advise you to find out about a gemstone called BACAN, this gemstone is an original stone from Indonesia. This stone also has its own uniqueness where every year the strokes in this stone and the color of this stone can change, many people say that this stone lives.
