Title: How can I get rid of all my rigs at a decent price?
Post by: GPU Farm on December 27, 2018, 07:20:00 AM
Considering selling my rigs piece by piece via Reddit or looking for a bulk sale. Anyone have any recommendations on going about?

Seems like ebay would be the most logical choice....

People will only buy your "decent priced" gpu if the same person will be getting decent return, gpu gaming possible, mining not possible. If I were you, I would wait eth price to return to 800 usd or so, so you can get a better deal.

Yeah, eBay would probably be the best shot to get rid of your rigs. Also, depends where you are from, but often times there are forums dedicated to PCs and their parts. Finding a forum like this could also solve your problem.

Still, eBay is probably the easiest way. Though one should be a bit careful when selling there, watch the feedback that buyers have. I have seen multiple counts where the buyer is a filthy scammer and still wins a dispute that an honest seller has initiated.

New GTX1060 costs around 300 dollars at the moment. Your cards are not in good condition after mining that's why the price will be not more than 150 dollars per card. I'd recommend you to continue mining Ravencoin, Zcoin or Ether and use the heat from rigs for something useful. If you don't use heat from GPUs for space heating, then you have to find other solution to have additional profit. For instance, there are some homemade upgrades for mining rigs, serving for indirect heating boilers. But, frankly, earlier or later, all of us will sell our equipment sometime.

That might not be a very good idea; Ethereum's rebound to $1k could take more than a year, ultimately resulting in much more devaluation of the GPU cards.

@GPU Farm, IMO, you should first of all figure out that which GPUs are in absolutely perfect condition, not overclocked, and able to reach their standard (first-use) benchmarks. You'll most probably find gamers for such GPUs (especially since they're all nVidia) and get a much better rate.

I just bought a bunch of 1060 6gb for 75$ because market is so flooded with mining rigs.  If you sell now you will not make much.

Do you have any access to *very* cheap electricity or just bought them for mining in upcoming months?

You can create a post on Marketplace section: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=75.0
Remember to use an escrow.

eBay's a decent place to sell if you've got some existing reputation on the site and you set the correct restrictions on your listing. I suggest setting restrictions on where you can ship your rigs or cards (e.g only the Lower 48 US States, etc.), as some people do try to buy items from far-away countries and that's a hassle for the seller. Generally speaking, eBay isn't a bad place to sell, but there are occasionally scammers on the site that intend to get products for free, but obvious scams are pretty easily spotted on the site.

I have about 700 rigs already running and own a 4mw data center but no, not very cheap as I am in USA, just a believer and don't often pass up good deals.   :P

I don't know about all rigs but if you make up a sale here in the hardware section of your GPU-s I think there will be people interested to buy of course if your price is priced to sell. Having so many GPU-s and if you want to get rid of them it is only logical that you will sell them with a really good price and I am sure many people would be attracted to buy them.

The RVN(Raven) is still the best option to mine with Nvidia GPU-s and this forum is the best source to sell your equipment, but ebay and amazon are next best choices.

OMG, that's quite an achievement! :o

4 MegaWatts and a single person?!? I think that makes you the biggest individual crypto miner in the world!

Lol, I think I may have sold you my cards!

I ended up staying clear from ebay after speaking to some friends. From what I hear, they do not treat first sellers very well. Did not want a hassle with chargebacks/disputes with 17+ rigs to unload.

Found some nice dude on the plus note who bought my rigs for a tad over 75$ per card and I am going to re-invest back into crypto. The other 17 rigs I have are going to be sold via Reddit.

It is better to wait for a few months when the mining is recovered from current lows.

I had the same issue liquidating GPUs back in 2014 after the bear market started and people were pretty much giving away R9 280X.

What you need to do is wait until the massive supply is absorbed. Eventually most will eventually get bought by gamers and the prices will improve.

Another thing that might happen is, GPU mining might be profitable again and then you can easily get rid of them, or just mine with them.

Why not just sell in this forum ?

I have sold out some of my rigs in my local social group, all members there are miners!

You know you can sell the individual GPU cards to those gamers get more money backs!

I sold some of mine on Facebook marketplace accually. But selling 200 GPUs is hard at this time with the price being what it is. I doubt that miners are buying to grow their mining biz. But what do I know. But try Facebook marketplace!

Sell as soon as possible ,mining is becoming obsolete and more and more new projects are turning to other consensus mechanisms.

eBay's going to likely be the best option for you to get rid of your rigs, as Amazon generally isn't as good for selling used components. Putting up a post in the Computer Hardware (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=75.0) section of this forum could also work, though you're obviously going to get more product exposure on a site like eBay. Make sure you accept the use of escrow here so both you and the buyer are secure, and you should be good. I used to have issues very commonly selling on eBay, but most people here are friendly and extremely easy to work with and there are plenty of people looking to buy parts at the right price in bulk. Good luck with your sales!

If you are not really in a hurry, I could suggest you to wait until btc/ETH price to recover and then you can decide If you will continue selling  or reuse them instead. Either way it's a bit win win for you.

But how long? This is a big question for him. My suggestion is don't sell his rigs, turn off his mining if he cannot pay the electricity cost and then wait until the market recover like above me said. I am sure in that time when he starts mining again, and he can pay his electricity cost and also he can get a profit. And if he decides to sell the rigs right now, people will offer a low price because of many people selling their rigs too.

If you got alot of time on your hands and really want to sell your gear for top dollar then one thing you can do is basically built it into a gaming PC. And this way you can charge alot more for it selling as one part.

A friend suggested this back in the bear market of 2015, but actually building a gaming PC and selling it as one was easier to sell the GPUs than selling them one by one.

You already got a good motherboard, maybe your CPU is good unless you got a Celeron/Sempron, you have to have a good PSU, just need a case, keyboard, mouse, etc.

that's a ton of work and extra $ though.  I'd just hold onto them if at all possible and turn back on later.  if you cant and you don't want the hassle of selling one at a time peeps out there will buy in 1 shot for like 65-85$.

I think I can hit up the same guy who bought a 102 cards of mine to buy some more if he'd be interested.

I am willing to do the ''extra'' work to sell piece by piece.
I have PM'd the ones interested in this forum. Do know, I am ONLY using an escrow/middleman. Safety for both sides.
Trying my best to avoid PayPal as-well.

the easiest way to do is to use eBay. but it would be quite risky because many scammers roaming even be in eBay at this time. I think it's better not to rush on the conditions that exist today. getting a decent price is not easy even though it's on eBay.
