Title: CardCash
Post by: figmentofmyass on January 05, 2019, 10:07:41 AM
anybody used them? i'd love to hear some reviews before i give them a try.

https://www.cardcash.com/

like purse.io, people with gift cards they don't want sell them at a discount to buyers. there's a wide assortment of cards, although sometimes there aren't many available. they accept bitcoin and have been around for a few years. i'm not sure how much of a problem fraud is---they have a 45 day guarantee on purchases.

any input is welcome, thanks!

The service is reputable but you won't be able to find Amazon for example. and even with the ones available, they're either out of stock like you said or the discount is very insignificant.

I would still recommend P2P platforms like Paxful for this kind of transactions. There might be a risk (I got scammed once but I got refunded and the user was banned), but I think If you manage to find someone old in the website and have high trust ratings, you should be fine If you're worried about the chargebacks.

@OmegaStarScream
I visited the website and the discounts look decent. That's the usual discounts you find from sites to sites, I have even seen some very high discounts. The only thing is most are out of stock as you said, and the site targets Tier 1 countries mainly.

I don't know how the Money Back Guarantee helps here. If the gift card has been bought with a stolen CC they won't help you. The code will work yes but what about if in 3 months you learn that you used stolen funds...

that's what initially caught my interest. there were some gift cards i actually wanted that were listed at 10-40% discounts.

within 45 days, they will (so says their FAQ). they'll issue a refund if the balance gets revoked.

i figure it's the same danger as purse.io, right? if you're using lots of fraudulent cards over the course of years at really high volumes, the police might eventually come knocking. but gift card buyback companies are a pretty legit industry. there's others like raise.com who have been around a long time. i wouldn't do crazy volume (just a hundred bucks here, a few hundred bucks there). i also probably wouldn't load these cards onto accounts linked to my identity/physical address.

sounds like no one around here has used them. i guess i'll be the guinea pig. :-X

Yeah, it was my point, compared to Purse.io the risk is the same. The money back guarantee will work if the code is wrong or already used, but for anything else, I am sure they won't do anything because they can't.
If you don't load these cards onto accounts linked to your identity/physical address you won't receive the items (unless you're buying a digital item). Don't even think to use a Re-shipping service as it won't help at all.
Even if you do low volume transactions, you don't know how the card has been used before. If the real owner complains you can be sued even for a 10$ shirt.

I had thought of creating a site like this but wanted to remove this risk. The buyer loads bitcoins and receives a gift card bought by the site previously. No risk for the buyer, and more stores to choose from. But I didn't find a way to offer such a discount rate so I don't think people would be interested.

i'm thinking gift cards to brick-and-mortar stores or gas stations. there's no KYC, you drain the gift cards at the store and throw 'em in the garbage can when you're done.

i'm pretty sure the guarantee covers anything for 45 days. they verify the identity of sellers (they pay them by bank transfer) so their fraud rate might be low enough that they can do that.

Even if you do low volume transactions, you don't know how the card has been used before. If the real owner complains you can be sued even for a 10$ shirt.

i don't think so, because you bought it from a 3rd party seller. if anyone would get sued, it would be cardcash.

yup, the discounts are either nonexistent (gyft) or very small (e-gifter).

I missed this part. Sellers are paid by either ACH deposits or via a check so yeah you're right. So even if there is a fraud it' will be easy to track the person.
A lot better than Purse.io so.

Just to ask, are you planning to give it a try it? Would be nice if you post a feedback after. If there is an affiliate program send me a PM with your link I will surely use it.

I've always used sites like Paxful for buying gift cards as well, and the discounts on this site don't seem as significant for certain gift cards compared to the ones on Paxful, but I assume the sellers on Paxful are acquiring the cards through fraudulent methods and that's a reason for the discount. There's always going to be a risk buying gift cards for Bitcoin, but generally the cards with higher discounts are likely fraudulently acquired.

i plan to try it sometime over the next couple weeks. i'll report back here with feedback. i've been expecting a short term rally, so i'm waiting for higher prices before buying anything with BTC right now.

am i crazy, or is paxful's interface really hard to use to search gift cards? you have to choose from a dropdown menu with hundreds of user-input options. it was a total headache so i just gave up.

paxful's interface works for things like paypal and bank transfer but it seems like a nightmare if you're trying to buy a half dozen discounted gift cards to different shops.

I've been using the site for a while for more popular payment methods so I haven't ever had a need to scroll downwards much, but I also agree that there's just so many options on the site and crappy organization on the site's part. You could always try using CTRL+F and enter in the name of the gift card you want or go to this Any Gift Card Code (https://paxful.com/sell-bitcoin/any-gift-card-code) section to buy cards a bit easier though.

i gave cardcash a try. the checkout experience was a tad wonky, maybe because they launch the bitpay invoice as an overlay rather than a pop-up. my browser (firefox) crashed on the first try.

it worked on the second try and i got a decent discount out of it. 2% savings on every order for using bitcoin, which is nice. i also found a coupon ($5 off first order) that didn't work but they quickly gave me a new one when i mailed support. ended up paying $92.12 for a $100 gift card.

will report back if there are any issues, but as of right now i definitely plan to use them again. i might try out some of the deeper discounted cards next time.

Seems like I got an issue with cloudflare, I'm always getting this error in every visit:

There was an issue communicating with the captcha provider. More information may be available below.
Guess I need to use my mobile to visit later.

By the way, what are the other Bitcoin payment options other than bitpay, P2P?

2% discount on Bitcoin transactions -- not bad. I might try them out. However, I'm not a huge fan of physical cards because you need to provide them a mailing address and take delivery, and that's most of their inventory.

No issues accessing the site here. But for anyone thinking about using them from outside the US, I found this in their terms (https://www.cardcash.com/tos/):

Is it possible that this is why I'm landing in pages saying "out of stock" all the time? Even If the card says "4 in stock" for example, I click, it redirects me to a page saying out of stock regardless of the card chosen.

@figmentofmyass

Good to know, can you send me a ref link if there is any. And where did you get the first coupon code?

Too bad, I wanted to buy a Lacoste gift card since last time I visited the site because it had a nice discount (like 8%) and they are out of stock.
I need to buy some swag.

just a quick update on this---shipping was fast, arrived discreetly in my mailbox in like 3 days. the card worked fine. so this seems like a decent option for cashing out here and there with a small discount.

i'll send you the link. it should get you a $5 coupon once you sign up (they'll email it). if the coupon doesn't work, shoot an email to support and they'll sort it out.
