Bitcoin cannot die under any circumstances. Ever!

Why? Because Bitcoin is an idea. An abstract idea. It cannot be destroyed.

I wanna emphasize this because a few days ago I posted a thread on the Economics section asking people if they thought Bitcoin was over.

And I've thought a lot about the answers I got and continued to reflect.

I don't agree with that. I definitely believe in Bitcoin's future. But it is not certain that Bitcoin never dies. It may! But it won't possibly.

Bitcoin has a many risks. But yes it has a great community support.

There are many futures in bitcoin and definitely I believe that it has come to stay why will it die. Now let's look back in the history of money as of today. Bitcoin is the future.

'Maybe we should just see how far this collapse goes, and what is left when we’ve reached a new kind of equilibrium', the Harvard graduate said.

'I think we will come back a few years from now and say how could we ever have gotten into this situation where we believed this kind of a fairy-tale story.'

Hansson isn't the first high profile government official who expresses his concerns that cryptocurrencies can be used for illegal activities and that financial instability issues may occur if links between virtual assets and the regulated financial sector are starting to increase, and he won't be the last.

However, his opinions seem uninspired and are nothing cryptocurrency investors haven't heard before.

Perhaps, in 2019, we can take these kind of non-constructive opinions for what they actually are, which is clearly FUD.

As analyst and crypto investor, Joseph Young pointed out to his almost 95K twitter followers: 'Less than two weeks into 2019 and already seeing "Bitcoin will die" statements from high profile government officials.'

Quarrels, just like in any relationship, is healthy and is needed for a thing to continue. Bitcoin needs to go through the struggles before it can sure fire. Anything needs time for adoption.

But the hype is dying down now for the industry

Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency coin so its possible to destroy but need to same other currency like this. I hope bitcoin will be back soon but it so risks because people cannot think bitcoin price down under 4000$ this year or price up 20000$ in 2017.Bitcoin do anything because nobody cannot identify or control bitcoin prcie and transaction.

Bitcoin's current system can end at any given moment IMO, but the idea of being a separatist, especially from a government and a financial institution won't. The idea of anarchy is already there, but the creation of bitcoin only made things clearer for most of us here that don't believe in disorder and have been believing the government for as far as we can remember. We have too many interpretations on what bitcoin is, and we also have our own different way of looking at things such as this, but the way you look at it, so far, is my favorite, considering that bitcoin itself has helped sprout tons of cryptocurrencies 'hoping' to replicate what bitcoin achieved--aside from obvious monetary success, of course.

I took it a step further and said Bitcoin is an idea of freedom. It represents our inner desire to break free from our financial shackles. I know people living in nice countries won't relate to that but a lot of us do.

Most people only think of BTC when we say Bitcoin and I understand why. It is old but gold, not weak. The misconception there is that people think bitcoin is actually prioritizing speed. No, it is prioritizing decentralization. Speed will come later. Lightning will make it happen but its still unable as of now.

I also think that this will never happen because Bitcoin is firmly entrenched in its positions and is unlikely to cost zero

internet and no interest.

Obviously if there is no internet we cannot function and if people stop

For Bitcoin to die, everything that has been implemented into this ecosystem will have to fail drastically.
We would have to see a major sell off from whales and many other big timers would have to remove themselves from the space.
As a worst case scenario, it may be safe to say that the price bitcoin could fall back below the $ 3,000 and take time to recoup but dead, never!

Which hype are you talking about? If you mean the "bitcoin" craze thing, then yeah good it is going down. We don't want to price to be inflated just because of some stupid "hype". Those hype only does harm, as people does not know what they are doing or why but just jumps into the hype train. We are better off without those people.

Bitcoin can be the future money, unless there is project superior to it. Perhaps a few years later, there will be a better project than BTC. Perhaps Quantum computers will be created and there will be no such a Bitcoin encryption. Paper money has also become innovative according to time but we do not like it now.

Yeah I get where you're coming from. In my experience though most people on the internet get very aggressive when someone else sees things differently from them. Like Roger Ver, he is too aggressive. In debates, we don't get to find common ground between BTC and BCH because all Roger cares about is pushing his agenda and destroying everyone that comes his way.

Quarrels do happen and debates makes the discussion firm but if its too much and you are feeling not good with that anyway its best for you to stay away from any discussion.

Just think on how internet was also debated during 90's and people are very skeptic to it. And now, what's with internet today? biggest businesses needed it as their primary weapon to keep on operating.

I'm glad you said that because I'd like to inform you that the Bitcoin blockchain is being broadcasted from space via satellite. And it has coverage for the whole world except Antartica and Greenland.

as we've all realized, but for a great community support, the Bitcoin idea and initiative wouldn't be possible. Fact is that even amidst te major crushes and bubbles Bitcoin has endured, it always had the last men standing that ensure the survival of the tech, and that's why we're still hanging around. Bitcoin is a successful outcome from the potential blockchain technology. Until now it has died infinite number of times, because at a same time different users come with different thoughts. One describe the fall in value as death while the same is mentioned by the other as the time to stabilize and so on, so death happens virtually and the usage continues making it grow.

It could gonna die but take long time for that. For the meantime let's enjoy having it though it is risky to invest with. It is beneficial to have it. It is the very potential blockchain which is popular in everyone. It is being use for fast transactions as a currency rather an asset which is the goal of creating it. Cryptocurrencies as such will not go anywhere. Bitcoin will hold the first place for a long time, because people believe in it. We cant know for sure what kind of coin can replace bitcoin, but so far there is no such coin.

Yes it is impossible that bitcoin can be easily wiped out of crypto market. Today everyone is familiar with Bitcoin and most of the countries started accepting as for trade buying anything and paying through wallet in btc. so it is very rare case that happen but i don't think bitcoin will be completely vanished out of market.

Logically, Hyping is not necessarily what Bitcoin needs for now, and Over hyping is one of the reasons for the current state of the market, I mean people are either expecting to make 10x profit in short period or waiting for a bull run at which they can cash in out their coins at the end of every year. I'd rather see a steady use and gradually but lasting increase in the price Bitcoin than another hyped bull run which could lead to a much more longer bear market.

Bitcoin started as an idea, that has been corrupted by the ultra rich.

In the beginning , almost anyone could mine btc and support the network.

Now only the Ultra Rich and their warehouses full of asics can maintain the network.

Technically bitcoin could cease to exist, but I agree the ideology could survive. The idea of Bitcoin is way ahead and superior to any financial institution. Any government entities are keeping an eye on the cryptocurrencies especially Bitcoin because it could make massive destruction for centralized entities.

Ideas cannot just die. They will endure forever, most often beyond comprehension. Take for example the flat earth idea. I cannot imagine how perennial it appears to me. Well, Bitcoin is actually not an idea. It is an offshoot of an idea. It is an innovation that was born out of an idea that will definitely outlive Bitcoin itself. Decentralization is the foremost idea Bitcoin is trying to translate into reality. Decentralization will not die. Freedom is another. I guess the thing itself that maintains Bitcoin's life despite all the FUDs and restrictions and deadly dumps is the idea behind it.  

Bitcoin can die for sure if people stop using it and if miners stop mining it too,it will become useless and little by little it will fade away ,but I guess that's never going to happen

Reality wise bitcoin can be use in replace to payment process, though there's a lots of doubts coming from government institutions and fear that it can destroy the original process, if being well implemented it can also be a good lift for institutional form, there should always be a good intentions and not for the sake of few peoples who can dominate the system, it will not die might grow much wider bigger in this coming future.

you are wrong because you are only focusing on one part of bitcoin. it is true that bitcoin is an idea but also bitcoin is a currency, a payment system that is working globally and this system like any other system can die one day and disappear. the idea isn't going anywhere and it will be built on but the system itself can go away.

If bitcoin is not used anymore or maybe it is not trusted then bitcoin is worthless and can be said to be dead. But seeing now that bitcoin is growing well and giving a good future, so that thought does not need to exist. The crypto community must increase every period so that it can run well and stay alive.

It is now impossible because people are continuing patronizing bitcoin. Bitcoin will not lose its value if people are continuing buying and using it. The bitcoin community is continuing growing over time, bitcoin has now enough support to overcome its challenges in the market.

As a bitcoin holder and trader, I agree with your thinking and also believe it. Bitcoin has just started its journey in the world economy and become popular among the world population. Because of some issue, the Bitcoin price was decreased and some people spend rumor about bitcoin. So I think bitcoin will survive for a long time.

To turn off large instruments will certainly require a lot of strength and that is the reason why Bitcoin is very difficult to die and only the internet can make Bitcoin die because all transactions can be done if there is an internet connection and if the internet goes extinct then all digital money will be extinct and for now this Bitcoin will remain until the internet doesn't exist.

This reasoning makes perfect sense, but what most people don't factor into it is that Bitcoin itself is still a work in progress. If something were to render Bitcoin obsolete at this point, it would take revolutionizing the blockchain approach in such a way that Bitcoin development can't keep up. I simply don't see that happening anytime soon. True scalability hasn't even been achieved yet.

It can die though. The question is of its likelihood. The idea is for a decentralized payment network; that can be achieved by other coins, or maybe even something else that's entirely different.

If the system dies but the idea is alive then people will just build a new system with the same idea perhaps different properties. So bitcoin really cannot die along with BTC.

Yes, Satoshi did not just release a piece of code onto the internet, he dropped a bomb in the financial world, by injecting the idea that Fiat currencies are not the only reserve currencies and that Crypto currencies can replace reserve currencies, if the people wanted that.

The idea sparked a whole new way of thinking about governments and reserve currencies and what decentralized payment networks can be, if you cannot take it down.

Bitcoin will not die so soon If God's will, however if you say never die. everything in this world will die and will be forgotten as time past everyone will make another technology to surpass the idea of bitcoins and the like of it. and someone gonna tell again that this new technology will not die and so on so forth. let's face it.

I don't think it is like that, bitcoin can die at any time, because I see Bitcoin does not have the legality of all countries in the world, so the possibility of death is still there, even though that death in my opinion is difficult.

Who says it will? Most crypto experts said that, "what we’re experiencing right now is just a lot of more of what has already happened". This was very true. I can't remember just how many times i've seen and read in the news that Bitcoin died. But every time, this cryptocurrency battle it out for survival -as always- ultimately rebounding in a very impressive way. Even with all the hypes, Bitcoin is one coin that have proven to be a real deal.
That up to this day, Bitcoin is still the most valued cryptocurrency with the largest market capitalization. Will it die? I don't think so.


 

I really agree with you.  How can a great discovered like blockchain technology die.  I think bitcoin is the future of our financial system and though we have not gotten the full grep of it I believe that we are going to use it seriously in future.

Yes obviously bitcoin is the great  which is built on blockchain technology and it is very decentralized and secured in nature which changed the financial system and can be replaced easily with fiat currencies. It is very easy to use and it is the digital money which cannot be theft. There are lot of features of bitcoin it cannot be easily depreciated from the market.

Bitcoin can still die and it will still be destroyed if the big guys want this. We are small investors and very few holders of Bitcoin. People who hold a lot of BTC with huge amounts of money always have a huge impact on this market, they can destroy it any time.

Also, I don't think purists (the ones who are actually concerned with the idea of Bitcoin) are at all worried that Bitcoin is going to bite the dust. The only ones worried about this are the ones who invested for financial gain.

Bitcoin is dead or not all depends on the community and also the market, no one can kill it unless people have never used bitcoin again for transactions and bitcoin is the only history. But now bitcoin is growing and moving so that it benefits those who hold it.

But why do we need this idea if nobody uses it?
BTC may die. But it can die as a tool, as a cryptocurrency. But the idea of BTC itself will never die, here you are right.
But this is not a guarantee of the success of BTC. There are many different ideas. But nobody uses it. And it can be considered dead. BTC can have the same path.

You have a solid conviction on your opinion regarding the death of bitcoin or let us say the whole cryptocurrency industry. Indeed I agree with you that it is now impossible for bitcoin to die even if many are literally killing bitcoin by their own way of killing bitcoin. You are right bitcoin will never die under any circumstances, we can see from the beginning of bitcoin created there are many times that makes bitcoin pass the circumstance until right now, so we should believe that bitcoin will never die under any circumstance

The main reason that it won't is because it is a technology. Technology don't die, they just evolve into something better but if you are talking about bitcoin itself then I will sa yes, it may die someday. Many factors could be the reason like improvement in technology. People nowadays are searching for more efficient type of algorithm in which bitcoin couldn't give.

It cannot die but people will not going to like either imand it will end up like a half dead.

I think because bitcoin is indeed like something that's natural or develop by being influenced by various things to fluctuating from time to time, it makes it not die or can be said to be less likely if it really die. In my opinion, this is like one thing that's indeed destined to be created to fill the future of more modern life on the financial side.

if people stopped focusing on bitcoin's life and death and the possibility of it in some imaginary future and instead started focusing their energy on what bitcoin is doing right NOW and the things that this revolutionary decentralized currency is offering us, then we wouldn't be at this very low rate of adoption! we could have been at at least 10% adoption by now and funny part is that their "profit dreams" due to the price rise would have also been satisfied.

Those powerful person in  the cryptocurrency market ehich are the whales, they will never let the bitcoin lose its value. The demand is continuing to grow so it is impossible to see that the bitcoin will lose its value.

There is no circumstance that will make bitcoin die in fact its absolutely impossible, everyday more people get to know about bitcoin invariable got interest into it and possibly invest, personally I have introduced bitcoin to many people while some had started investing into it and its obvious elsewhere there other people investing into on daily basis, more so a lot of traders also trade bitcoin whose market capitalization is in billion dollar hence its can't die.

I definitely agreed that Bitcoin will not be gone at this point of time, and we never know how long it may take to exist in this business industry. All we knew so far Bitcoin was too popular worldwide were some of the nations are already adopting its system and connecting into blockchain technology.

Of course without a doubt it is impossible for bitcoin to die and Bitcoin price is down and we all see that but I don't know why many consider it is on its path to die because now only it has started to recover and progress than in the past and I say that because few years back bitcoin was just a trading asset for greedy people who used to make quick money and nothing productive was done using it but now if you search the internet there are many options and facilities to use or pay using bitcoin and that is strong evidence that it is going in a successful path and if its users smart enough they should understand this price drop is just temporary and bitcoin will never die

I completely agree! Bitcoin will live as long as it is needed. For those who have forgotten: Bitcoin is an anonymous free currency, that not controlled by states. Bitcoin is primarily needed for ordinary people who are tired of fearing for their money, which are run by governments. If this would be the end of Bitcoin, we wouldn't have talked about it now, but simply forgot about it  ;)

I agree with you. Perhaps it will happen that bitcoin will be replaced by another coin, but I think that there will still be those who will believe in bitcoin. And as long as these people will live, bitcoin will also exist. So I also believe that bitcoin will not die. It's a great idea and a new technology that will bring great changes in the future.

the idea is indeed an absolute unity and will never die, I agree with that, but bitcoin is only partially or one representation of many ideas, and I think it is very possible for bitcoin to die someday, but dying does not mean ending, maybe it will new, more unique and innovative ideas emerge or efforts to continue to develop bitcoin from other aspects of needs.

I really also didn't believe that the bitcoin will die. As long as there is a price and value bitcoin will never ever die. If we put basis on its price maybe bitcoin has still many believer and bitcoin is still the most trusted coin in crypto, we can all put basis on the price chart if bitcoin falls down it will rise again and vice versa so there is no need to worry if we are in the huge dip because it is normal to bitcoin and it is really normal for bitcoin to rise up high after the huge dip. But the worst thing is that we don't really know the exact time or maybe date of its rising so I think we need to be more patience on it for good.

You are correct about it! Ideas do not die but unfortunately project does. In reality bitcoin as a physical system and not as an imagination or idea, it may have limits or perhaps will have revisions to fit the current needs. If people as time goes by would think they may no longer need it, then most probably it will be gone. In my opinion, for now Bitcoin doesn't die even though the price decline is very deep, but we don't know that in the future Bitcoin will experience what fate it will be. So I personally won't admire Bitcoin too much, because everything will end, there will be death in everything in this world.

Nothing is impossibe I would say and so for Bitcoin too. It's not impossible but rather hard. Bitcoin is increasing in supplies, meaning we need more miner to make the network stable. If the miners are not enough to make some transactions, then there's a possibility that Bitcoin would die because there would be a lack of profit in it.

I believe Bitcoin controls more than 80% of the cryto market and with the death of BTC, crypto market may come to an end. As an idea, a bitcoin will live for a very long time (in my opinion), but there is always a chance that a new idea will emerge that will better meet the needs of that time. And then, over time, the Bitcoin idea will go into oblivion.
