With no trust usually the OP will ask for a deposit.  That usually works out just fine.  Makes other bidders feel more comfortable.  Good luck.  This is a beautiful coin!

To ensure that you're a serious bidder, I must ask you to place safety deposit of 0.2 BTC to 1739GEWKubK3yuSzjXTnbXkSV8gdf5uqmF. This will count as a payment for the winning bid if you win, or be returned to you if you do not win the auction. Upon not completing a winning bid payment as a winner of the auction, the safety deposit will be forfeited.

Your bid will be valid when the deposit is done.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Joe1823 has informed me that he's unable to make this safety deposit for now.

Therefore, his bids are not valid and the current highest bid is 0.75 BTC by greenplastic.

Offense,  after one conversation via PM, I can confirm anonymousminer is a tool

Lol. Thank you.

I’m guessing it was wrong of me to ask you to quote your PMs so I knew what you were talking about because I get several daily?

Maybe it was that I didn’t want your dirty fiat through eBay?

No, no, no, it had to be me ignoring your ignorant comment about your eBay sales being worth more than my net worth.

You got me.

p.s. no deposit.... hmmmm.  Looks like i helped.  I could care less if you are offended and I’d be willing to bet nobody else here cares either.  Take care and have a nice day.  ;D

Because we have been having this topic of newbie bidders and trying to establish how we want to self govern here I would say that because greenplastic was bidding over someone that can not provide a safety deposit to confirm his bids were official that either you move greenplastic's 0.75BTC to your minimum increment overtop of comit's bid (the actual last valid bid) or let him take the first bid and replace the problem bidder. (in this case it is the same bid)

Don't mean to derail auction but its going to mean that the auctioneer's need to nip these issues quicker.

Guess you are not familiar with cold storage.

This crossed my mind also. That bid by greenplastic could have been kept valid, but it was on top of an invalid bid, so was lowered to a minimum bid after last valid bid. Can't really choose both to keep it at bidded value and lower to minimum. I think more fair option was to lower it to last+minimum than to honor "maximum bid" at 0.75.

What are f you all talking about, I was willing to pay 0.8 for the coin no problem with escrow from Miner Jones/ Og Nasty.
There was no rule of newbie dposit 0,2 so

You're right there are no rules at all for this board. We self govern. You could not fulfill a 1/4 of bid deposit to validate yourself hence you were politely excused from the auction. At the time there was still two hours left(three now counting extensions), you could have gone to your safety deposit box or wherever you keep your cold wallet if you really really really wanted this coin. There will be future auctions and there will no doubt be Cas Silver Halfs around, I recommend you be able to fulfill whatever is asked of you because it will be asked for again in order for your bid to count.

This was a 4 day auction. You had time if you were watching. An auctioneer taking a lower bid while there are higher unverified bids out there goes to show you the importance/value we place on trust and ease of transaction here. There have been trainwreck auctions for a long time in here and its just a cover your own ass kind of thing now, nothing personal against newbie/unfamiliar bidders but you will be asked for things like this.

I don’t want to interfere, but even with cold storage, you could have made the deposit if you really wanted this coin. Just make sure to keep some satoshis at hand for the next one to avoid similar issues.

Cheers!

1. There was NO rule where newbie should deposit 0.2 this was implemented during action, changing the rules.
2. When funds are in cold storage, you can't just deposit them.

Again I was willing to pay 0.8 and even higher but that water under the bridge now.
I will obtain a 0.5 silver no problem.

This is common practice; no rules necessary.

Horrible management practice. Just leave it, and remember next time to have a safety deposit ready.

What are f you all talking about, I was willing to pay 0.8 for the coin no problem with escrow from Miner Jones/ Og Nasty.
There was no rule of newbie dposit 0,2 so
Now Anduck gets 0.75 congratulations to you guys!

I did several bids, nobody complained.
Then when it seemed like I would get the coin, the rules were changed.
I wanted the coin and would have paid 0.8 for it.
But sometimes it goes like this.

From now on it goes like this.

Why so hostile, I just wanted to buy a coin.
Keep your skirt on jeez.

But I won't bid on y'alls auctions anymore, don't worry.

Feel free to PM Lauda multiple times daily if you have any more questions. They'll be able to assist you in the future. Grown ups are trying to do business here still.

I'm sorry for the caused inconvenience. I do understand that some wallet setups may not be accessible in such a short notice.
That being said, I do think it was a fair call to discard your bid, because you have no history here. The common practice in these cases is to ask for a safety deposit.
There have been cases here where new non-established members, members without history, have trolled and even wrecked auctions by bidding and not honoring bids. It would have been unfair to other bidders to let you bid without a safety deposit due to that. I do think that you're a legitimate member. It's just that certain status or safety deposit is required to make auctions fair for everyone.

You are right that auction rules do not state anything about safety deposits. But as Lauda mentioned, it's kind of a common practice around here to ask newbies to provide safety deposit. I'll be having this notice in my future auctions. Also, I should've mentioned this to you earlier, but it simply didn't cross my mind, and I'm sorry for that. I hope we'll see you participating in future auctions.

@ joe, There is a proper way to join a community, be the new guy, and be viewed as someone who can follow through with their bids. Maybe try to plug in a bit more first & even buy lower priced items. The members here will always have their guards up from unknown outsiders and that wont change. Theyve seen and heard it all, so dont take offense.

Well said Jack. Not only that but we are also wary of shill bidders.

We have seen it all and it does make us think of the worse case scenario.

New members are always welcome..after all we were newbies once too. ;)
