2018 WAS A TERRIBLE YEAR BOTH FOR HUNTERS AND INVESTORS TOO MANY SCAMS AND FRAUDULENT TACTICS USED BY CHILDREN CLAIMING TO HAVE SOME IDEA WHICH THEY NEED A FUND RAISER FOR...

As a bounty hunter.. the worse thing that can ever happen to you in the crypto space.. is promoting a scam ico unknowing to you it's a fraudulent company

I AM CREATING THIS THREAD TO HELP SPREED THE AWARENESS OF FRAUDULENT PROJECTS WASTING OUR PRECIOUS TIME AND STEALING THE HARD EARNED MONEY OF INVESTORS..

PLS KINDLY PUT DOWN THE NAME OF ANY COMPANY YOU THINK ITS SCAM AND NOT WORTH INVESTING ON AND GIVE REASON WHY IT SHOULDN'T BE TRUSTED

THIS WILL HELP BRING BACK THE TRUST WE ONCE HAD IN THE CRYPTO SPACE AND MAY ALSO GIVE LEGIT ICOS  THE CHANCE TO RAISE ENOUGH MONEY AND KICK START THEIR PRODUCT

As for me there is no legit ICO at the moment. If I'd plan an ICO I'd better change my mind after the SEC statement about their standpoint on ICOs which were and will be made without their approval. So just forget and avoid them.

To be honest not many projects that are raising funds at the moment are trustworthy, just see how many legit and real projects were there in last one year and we all know that most of the projects are on hold, dead or not showing up for unknown reasons, only a handful projects have produced a working product or are under development with timely updates and transparency so i would say that we should be very careful now both before promoting a new project and investing.

It's not actually a bad idea to put up stuff like this against scam ICO,  but I also know some guys will abuse this thread by dropping even genuine projects. 2018 was the worst year with regards fake ICOs, making crypto enthusiasts extremely skeptical about investing in them. However, there are still cool ICOs but please before you make any investment, do proper research since investment like this involve risk taking.

Bounty hunters have got a lot of responsibility in detecting scam project. There are investors who have interest in investing in ICO, but do not know how to go about carrying out research to know if it is scam or not.
We promote projects for investors to see, so we should try to give them safe project that will not cause them their hard earned money.

Great list you can add Konios after distributing their coins to bounty hunters, they are not updating anymore, their channel has no update and we never hear from the team anymore, the ICO failed but they are now listed in LATOKEN.

It is difficult to define when an ICO is a scam. For example Desico project seemed to me a legit project but  when
the  bounty ended they decided not to pay the hunters only thanked them that they were promoting the project
for months. So, from the perspective of the hunters DESICO is a  SCAM.

We already have a section for the scam but for better awareness I'd like to see one here, not many members are reading the scam sections so they are not aware that the ICO they are promoting is already tagged as a scam site, I see the list going to hundreds in a matter of days.

Thank you for informing us about fraudsters. But we bounty hunters alone do not resist scammers. You need to stick together and maybe then there will be fewer scams.

Bounty hunters will not promote a scam because they will not get paid from it. It is better to spread awareness on how to identify and avoid these scams so they won't be promoted by anyone

Title: Re: FIGHTING AGAINST ICO SCAM

Its not just the fraud/scam ICO that you need to warn each of us but all of the hunters must have the guts to ask for the escrow. This should have been a mandatory or else you don't promote them. The DESICO scam will keep on happening if we don't ask for escrow. ALL the participants think they are very legit of course they but in the end you can't just force them to pay but if the funds are escrowed you'd feel safer.

we really have to fight the ICO scam project players, besides harming the investors they are also just wasting time and work on bounty hunters for a long time and testing the patience of the bounty hunters. Therefore, in order for this situation to not continue, we must unite to fight the perpetrators.

Ingot Coin is the first ICO that came to my mind. They announced that they were able to reach the soft cap and then announced at a later date that they never did. It was all for PR to attract investors. I believe they ran a more than 20 week bounty campaign.

If you really want to fight against scam ICOs than you will need to be vigilant by deloping your skills about the cryptocurrency market. Before investing in project or supporting any project as hunter than you must check each and every thing about project in brief like team, social media, roadmap, partnership etc. Last time I saw several projects which had 25000+ members in telegram community and there were only 10 to 20 peoples active in the group which raised huge questions to me, how only 10 to 20 peoples are active this group have 25000 members in telegram community??? Later I found those project may have used both account to show the strength of people on their social media community. Same thing was observed with twitter account of the project.

I suspect two projects, Ethereum Limited and Ethereum Classic Vision. There has been a case of disappearance of the Ethereum limited team which is currently been discussed in their telegram group. It is very difficult to identify a fraudulent ICO until it is over. In 2018 I was cheated by ICO https://www.glitzkoin.com/, after the end of the bonus program they hid spreadsheets and stole money from bounty hunters. The glitzkoin development team are scammers, stay away from the project https://www.glitzkoin.com/.

for the future, maybe we will need a system rule that allows it to reduce the many ICO Scams, this will certainly be very useful. For example the results of ICO sales that are not directly to the wallet belong to the developer so that this will reduce the possibility of a scam because their money is held by the agency in full responsibility.

Putting an end to scams in our world is similar to stopping the sun from shining. In everything we do on a daily basis, there are always people looking to rip us off and I say this because I'm in a part of the world where corruption is prevalent.

Limiting scam ICOs requires each and every one of us to be vigilant by making conscious decisions to further understand the crypto market. I do a lot of ICO investing and promotion and I don't take the part of doing my research lightly. The moment I sense a red flag, I pull out. Don't let the population on telegram or number of Twitter followers fool you.

Right now their are so many ICO that is not legit or a scam. I think the possible solution was we need to know who is the campaign manager that no case of that project was scam and a respectable manager for us to know that is legit or not.

No, the normal regulation of the activities of the ICO is possible only by government agencies that will act on the basis of the relevant regulatory act. Any public self-regulatory bodies of the effect in the fight against fraudulent projects ICO will not give positive results. Check the ICO team for fraud is possible only with the powers of law enforcement. In the activities of ICO, clear rules of the game, the establishment of rights and obligations of the parties are needed. Without this, investors and bounty hunters will not feel protected; the permissiveness of ICO teams must be strictly limited to regulations.

Fraud has happened very often and this has caused many people to suffer losses. I agree that we must oppose this fraud, but as long as there are no definite rules regarding the new ICO, it will certainly be very difficult to eliminate. There must be rules about standard ICO so that everyone will be more comfortable.

for now like that it is very difficult, choosing ICO at an uncertain time is like gambling, because sometimes projects that we take for granted, it could be a success and vice versa. Whitepaper, the Team can no longer guarantee that the project will be successful. However, for now, we can only trust on that already proven that projects are worthy.

Strongly agree with your idea, we must fight scam projects. In my country just a case of a scam project, and now investors are chasing those project people. Hopefully there will be no more scam projects, for the bounty participants, they have worked seriously, and the results have been zero. What is very sad is to waste valuable time.

what should we do with the SCO ICO? by not investing in the project?
there should be a continuation of the law to those who commit this fraud. isn't this a very clear fraud and theft?

Creating a thread like this to keep posting just any project that one feel is scam might not be too good, because some people might abuse it.
Take for instance, someone who is not satisfied with a project, out of so many participants. He might come to spread a fake news about a genuine project.
I think it is best to use the scam session of the forum to report such project individually with reasons.

I understand how difficult it is to find ICO that has a future in many other ICO projects. in general we aim to develop projects to get prizes for tokens or we can develop our own products. Unfortunately in 2018 there are many ICO scams that are very worrying for investors. we need people who have serious ideas and projects in the future.

When people say it is a scam, it is not just a hunch. It is just really a scam ICO and therefore, there is a proof already they are a scam ICO. People will not randomly report any ICO without providing some proof therefore, their claim wouldn't be valid after all. Mostly bounty hunters will report on such scam ICO after finding out that they really wouldn't pay for the participants after all.

Them biggest scammers of the year 2019

____4new .... http://4new.io ... this guys are so greedy it seems they didn't scam off enough money from investors by claiming to have a mining plant which does not exist... they decided to destroy a legit project named Airwire... Airwire.io by dumping off their token on exchange after a successful partnership... Airwire noticed what was going on and decided to call off the partnership

____swissalpmining ... http://swissalpmining.com

Alot of users may know of this one... https://shitcoinoffering.com/dead-snow-the-swiss-alps-mining-scam-ico/
Read above article for more clarification

____Giracoin ...

Same swiss scammer  from swissalp mining...

____Tipbot .... http://tipbot.io ... Same user who scammed off users from a project named dividend in the year 2017 to 2018.. you can search out the word dividend from the search bar an see what comes out

More scam projects incoming
If Airwire could fall victim of such scam project through the partnership, it then shows how difficult it is to detect scam projects.  $new successfully listed their kwatt token. At first, i wanted to invest in their ICO. I did nit do that not because i suspected they were scammers, but my instinct was not just going with them It is such a pity that Airwire became a victim.

This is not easy though, because scammers are being very smart nowadays! They copied website web design from the successful project UI and then they make an infographic ICO timeline to make people believe about their fundraising! So, better is avoid ICOs and I already start promoting only STO and ICO project who have real products or news in big media. Everyone needs to research hard to avoid scam ICO projects.

In fact, most fraudsters are easily brought out of the shadows, which does not require any knowledge. There is a branch where suspicions are published, and I see that, as a rule, fraudsters fake photos and profiles. Therefore, each investor must first of all independently evaluate the project by analyzing the data.

The only tool we have for now as investors, is our personal ability to be able to recognise scam project, until there is a regulatory body that will help to protect against them. Those who got exposed to projects of this sort in 2018, now have enhanced or improved knowledge on how to recognise some of these projects. Although, it is quite unfortunate that these type of projects are many, even much more than the genuine ones. Notwithstanding, we can still recognise them.

Hello,

Really not a bad idea ! with the bull run too many projects, too many ICO, too many "easy money" birth project without nothing after.

With the bear market we have less ICO and lead to some purification of the market which is not bad.

One serious verification structure could be good and could really limited risks.

The rate of fraudulent or scam ICOs in the crypto space continues to increase rapidly thereby making it hard to find good project. I believe the beat way to curb or stop ICOs scam is to allow in some form of regulations. If regulations are allowed into the cryptocurrency Space, ICOs will rarely be fraudulent and it will help the whole market by bringing in new investors into the cryptocurrency market since they will feel protected by the law.

ICO projects are indeed very minimal in supervision and when the ICO project is found, it is fraud and there are still many participants who promote it. They knew the project was fraudulent when they felt the project was finished. And I agree that we must oppose the fraud project because it has made many people lose money. There are several ICO ranking sites that provide information about several fraudulent projects and you can see them.

Its not that easy to do. Just reading the whitepaper won't help you judge if that ICO will pay you or not. Failed ICOs mainly does not pay their bounty hunters cause why would they pay them since they already failed. And their terms are always changeable. If you read them properly, most of the terms of agreement says that they can change it if needed without any prior notice. So there is nothing much you can do if they add something new to the terms after you join the ICO.

The usual problem of bounty hunters. Campaigns have that statement that they can always change the rules at any given time. If only users will not participate in their bounty programs to show that it's not really fair how they treat them. Very difficult to identify if the project is scam at early stages. Normally, you will know it once they disappeared along with the funds.

Well, not paying a reward is a Scam, too. If the project does not pay awards for bounty it already makes sense to refer it to the scammers.  I'm sure that without paying the reward to the hunters, the team is considered to be scammers.

Its too hard to accused one project without any single evidence or proof that will will do scam or run away your invested money. but before joining them on ICO be sure to read and learned first there whitepaper is it original or copied from other icos (extensive research). the dev team information should be transparent. and lastly too think more than once if its really good to invest and ask some advise from crypto experts. INvest only what can you afford to loose..

As some of them can pretend to be a good one while still in a early stage then after collecting enough funds to runaway that's the only
time they can be identified as scammers, there's a lots of things that makes it hard to point out which is which and how they can manage
runaway with investors funds.

MOYA TOKEN: their project is to provide cable wires under the sea for AFRICA internet connection
DRONE TOKEN: this is not actually 100 percent scam but a failed project, after sending tokens to participants they are gone.
IDA: this one is created and run by CHINESE team, the project is good and running with exchange but never paid any participants of bounty!

The only workable solution at the moment is STO, that will provide more security for investors.
For myself, do not invest in ICO since middle 2017 and happy about that.

one of the problems many bounty hunter follow join and promote ico based by ico rating site. in many ico rating in my opinion. some even plunged the community. the ico rating they review seems the rating can be bought or ordered without actually being reviewed according to the facts. this is one of the problems that makes the ico scam can be fertile. Ico rating should provide information that is independent and trustworthy by investor or the bounty hunter.

If fighting against ico scam is not not properly planned I don't see it leaving the crypto only for more scam to pump in. I think there should be an organization even if not from the government but voluntary organization who will verify any ico before being promote if not we are still not save.
Public voluntary bodies will not be able to effectively resist to fraud in cryptocurrency. Fraudsters such bodies will simply ignore. The most effective way to get rid of fraud in ICO projects is government regulation of ICO activities. Although fraud is a crime and the state is obliged to quickly intervene and punish criminals, they are in no hurry to do so. Apparently, in this way they want to discredit the very idea of decentralized cryptocurrency. However, they will soon be forced to do it anyway.

In recent months, the number of fraudulent and useless projects has increased significantly. And bounty hunters until the last moment believe and hope for the prudence of developers and in the end often give up and silently leave. Do not be silent, it is important as soon as possible to share with the rest of the gullible participants in the chat rooms, using real arguments. I am convinced that the problem of fraud will be resolved very soon, because we all need a legitimate ICO for the effective development of the cryptoindustry.

It become so obvious that many just jump in believing the year will be like 2017 as a point and other also did to get rich quick which some really achieved but to my own understanding, investors need to be away from ICO now and also the hunters.

I think we are having a save hand now compare to normal ICO with what we have now as IEO which gives more rest of mind to investors and that will put an end to ICO soon while hunters will also need to look else where to get their earn.

We should all join hand and report any suspicious  scam ICOs and warn potential investors or bounty hunters from falling victims of those scrupulous and fraudulent projects in the name of ICOs. in fact this is one of the main reasons some would-be cryptos investors get discouraged in investing in some of this project because of fear of being scammed.

True, if OP find something suspicious on the project and on the ICO, make a scam thread on that section and after that warn other people on the project ANN thread and their bounty thread. If the bounty hunters still promote the ICO then it is their fault, they only do for money and never keep up date about the project.

It is difficult to define when an ICO is a scam. For example Desico project seemed to me a legit project but  when
the  bounty ended they decided not to pay the hunters only thanked them that they were promoting the project
for months. So, from the perspective of the hunters DESICO is a  SCAM.
it can be called a Scam in the sense that they do not fulfil their promise and if such project has not indicate that they might not pay hunters prior to when the bounty campaign is launch, We may say they are not. And if not then it is a scam because they do not have any agreement that bind their intentions. However if such Thing happens to hunters then investors too need to get worried because one day, they are also going to be cheated just like the hunters.

I read one of the post of yahoo62278 and I realized reason why many people are taking advantage of blockchain technology to scam people by creating scam project. The cost of setting up a project is very cheap and this is exactly why we have so many scam projects. more than 50% of the project are using fake images of people as team member with copy and paste whitepaper. Also the regulation on ICO is really weak, it's like there's no protection for any investors and they could be tricked by the complicated terms and agreement. I know people are always thinking about the idea of being decentralized but without regulation it's just as good as a slum for scumbag people.
It's always better to have some kind of authority to every ICO that's going to be held.

even with the bear market they will still be here. there are still investors who send money to a very obvious scam project yet they choose to send and worse is that they shills for it. they may be part of the scam but it always makes people who read the comments and believe to it.  collecting just 10BTC for creating a website, whitepaper and fake profiles can be worth just $1k, thats the motivation for them.

This might be a very good stepping stone into reviving the ICO again if we can all join hands in spotting these projects out and discussing them on these forums provided some people don’t end up using the forum to spoil other people’s business because of the strong competition among them.

Aside ICO scam too, we also need to be able to help ourselves in researching and also spotting our projects that has no future or product and may end up getting dumped in the long run because a scammer might also come up with a bad project to make it look like they are real.

The best way to deal with a fraudulent ICO is to not participate in it. Every year it becomes more difficult to find a strong honest team of professionals who sincerely believe in their product and successfully promote it in an unfavorable market. Such projects are and will be, you just need to learn how to find them.

And how will this put a stop to scam ICOs ? Listing them number to number won't bring any changes to ICO scams even if one is detected today this same criminals will create another one ,the only thing we can do to help people especially newbies is to warn them to avoid promoting scam projects

According to my knowledge, the ICO, which requested KYC for investors, was used to find out the people who invest in it. and for the ICO problem, it is better if there is suspicion immediately to make a thread which contains evidence of suspicion of ico projects

Nice thread. But also not just put a name of the scam ICO but prove it by those poster.  I suggest you post it by having a self moderate option to clean up some spam post here. Then only those legit post with matching on the OP will retain in the comment box. It's alright to delete some messages or feedback. Im just thinking it will more cleaner and probably be always get visit by others.

Not all ICOs are worthless just look at projects like Ethereum and EOS who successfully raised funds using this method and are now top ranked platforms, however, you are correct in highlighting the fact that this form of crowd funding has been exploited by scammers and professionals who lack the necessary skills or experience to launch a startup and is no longer a popular avenue of raising funds, but all this is starting to change with IEOs and STOs gaining popularity that can offer more protection for investors
Ethereum and EOS started when scammers has not hijacked the system of ICO from real projects and real developer but now, most of the upcoming projects we have now or the ones recently completed and not up to a year old are scrap.

Though we still have lots of projects that I have been working on that I strongly believe are very reliable and coming out with quality projects. The invention of IEO is really going to be a way forward to earn the trust of more investors because STO might face a lot of setback, even thoughit’s built on blockchain but will still be operated within the centralized market system.

To be frank with you, most of the current projects raising funds have shown some sense of credibility and accountability. I think the level of scam projects in the industry is reducing everyday as many investors are more smart than before, so it is those that have shown some level of credibility that are getting investors for their projects.

it is true that KYC can be used for good things like some ICO do for investors participating in the ICO, but there are some naughty ICOs, they sell investors' identities to others and that is a practice that often happens in online markets such as that.

The fight against the scam is a very, very difficult thing that is being conducted today constantly, I think that there are a very large number of crimes that are being committed today, but theft is the most frequent crime.

Putting those ICO's here who scammed bounty hunters is useless. See the bounty page. There are lots of Bounties still running and there are lots of bounty hunters falling into their trap.

What must be the way to stop? Bounty hunters must stop joining in these stupid bounties. These is the only thing that I know that will completely stop ICO's. We know that bounty hunters play a big role in the ICO as they are advertising their project on various social media platforms. Now if the bounty hunters will not join then it will be hard for the ICO to advertise their project. Bounty hunters must stop joining in the bounties.

Not only from ICO but also from airdrops, they sell their airdrop participants KYC information on dark web. I saw it before.

There are so many scam ICO out there and it's quite easy to detect it, check it by yourself before join an ICO. Repeated project is mostly will ended with not reached softcap or even scam.

Only 3% of ICO investors directly from social media and bitcointalk signature campaign. So, they don't play a big role, in my opinion. However, I think we should be aware of scam ico and spread this awareness among others too. We should create some threads on how to detect scam projects.

PLS KINDLY PUT DOWN THE NAME OF ANY COMPANY YOU THINK ITS SCAM AND NOT WORTH INVESTING ON AND GIVE REASON WHY IT SHOULDN'T BE TRUSTED
..

THIS WILL HELP BRING BACK THE TRUST WE ONCE HAD IN THE CRYPTO SPACE AND MAY ALSO GIVE LEGIT ICOS  THE CHANCE TO RAISE ENOUGH MONEY AND KICK START THEIR PRODUCT

ICO Scams ripped the cryptocurency market apart in 2018. But gratefully, the IEOs came with a strand of insurance for investors and induced confidence. This is why 2019 is seeing some crypto resurgence and if IEOs keep performing up to expectations, the market will be fully revived

nice iniciative!
It is actually difficult to run a list of scam ICOs because of several reasons, especially because "scam" is a relative subject, sometimes it is a blunt scam, sometimes it is more elaborate and people will just think that the project failed...
There is also the problem that most scams are identified only after the ICO has finnished and the damage has been done...
But we need to start somewhere and this is a good place...
ODEX -they had very strange reaction to questions about info from the team. They are supposedly based in Marocco, I live close by and offered to pay a visit to the headquarters.... got kicked out .... never paid for ANN translation work
OCTUS - never paid and there were several scam accusations
among others....

I hope this will help to identify scam projects before they are going to launch their token sales and to protect investors from taking part in them. The numbers of scam projects are decreasing, but there is still a lot of work to do.

It is very easy to resist the scams ico if we are wise to look for the truth, It is easy to know if it is true that it is only a review of the ico that will be involved. Those who are often foolish are novices in the cryptocurrency market. They need a assistance om how to choose a good ico to invest.

Review about ICOs are also complete non sense,we can't make sure that we are investing on a legit or scam just by watching a review but when we are wise enough to evaluate a projects and about their team then we can find them.
