Title: Self-moderated topic-Users deleting posts without reason. What to do?
Post by: bitmover on January 24, 2019, 06:18:24 PM
These two users just deleted two posts of mine in a self moderated topic. They are probably alts, as they are doing the same behavior and both posts were deleted in a very similar situation:

Butterscotch Cartman (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2481380)
turtletime (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2024392)

The posts were relevant to discussion, and were even quoted. The quoted text remained, as it was relevant to discussion. They were not great posts, but I find that very annoying.

I was thinking if there was anything to do. I just left a negative feedback (i am not a DT, so there is no harm to him, but its like an alert to other users). Maybe leaving a negative feedback is too harsh?
One of them is already tagged by owlcats for trolling anyway... lol

Don't leave a neg for that, that's my opinion.  The whole point of self-moderated threads is for individuals to have control over what gets posted in them.  If you don't want your posts deleted, don't post in a self-modded thread started by someone you think might delete your posts.  IMO regardless of the reason they decided to nuke your posts, it's their choice and not something to be punished.

I agree that leaving a negative rating for deleting your posts is not appropriate. There's nothing about that alone which justifies distrusting that person.

Maybe now I understand what TheUltraElite meant when they said :

I dont understand why you all are getting so trigger happy with tagging people for every case.

I was thinking if there was anything to do.

If you don't like the idea that your posts could get deleted, then don't post in self-moderated threads. You can't be upset when the OP uses the tools available at their discretion.

Just move on, or if you feel really strongly about it - create your own thread.

Once upon a time I was really pissed about someone deleting my posts and I created my own thread... four years later the other guy is in prison ;D

Why should leave negative feedback for self moderated thread? There is a popups below the title;
Quote
This is a self-moderated topic. If you do not want to be moderated by the person who started this topic, create a new topic
Look on the bold part. Just avoid if you don't want to moderate by that users. May be he isn't agree with your post that's why deleted. You can't just leave negative feedback's to someone if you are not agree with him or just for delete your post. Forum give him right to make self moderated thread.

Honestly you should just carry-on.

There are a ton of members who won't even post in a self moderated thread, regardless of how on-topic or well they could contribute.

If you feel that strongly about a warning to users, there is a 3rd option with feedback to use a neutral rating. Honestly its like people forget it exists.

Personally I'd just mosey on, and refrain from their topics.

Coolcryptovator- I think you mean to say, your opinion is he shouldn't leave a neg. Saying he can't is wrong because again trust is not moderated and anyone is free to tag how they see fit.

I do find it promising since the new system that people are taking a closer look at their vendetta tags or hurt feeling tags. Overall we may be heading towards a more uniform idea of what is negworthy.
