I don't use any special glasses, but this free program F.lux (https://justgetflux.com/) does the job well; all you have to do is download and install.

It adjusts the color temperature of your screen throughout the day (you can adjust). You might take a while to adjust to the temperature changes but trust me, it's something I can't recommend highly enough!

I do not use any of the above,as I do not have any issues with looking at the screen of my computer for a while, there are special apps that aid you to protect your eyes from the screen of the system, and you can search online for them,as it'll be helpful to you.

I exercise my eye muscles by holding my hands in front of my face with the fingers slightly apart. I then move them rapidly through a range of about 6 inches whilst looking at a light source.

Is that better than moving your head to see things around you from time to time? Tho in a work cubicle that might be a nice trick...

I wouldn't use a "blue light" filtering lens as that would probably affect the color gamut of things...

I think they are actually red-light apps. The red drowns out the blue-light.

Think of how military uses red lights outside  at night to be not detected.

Anybody else have some info on this?

No, that's infrared, same thing security cameras use, you see the light in the monitor but not with your eyes.

The military does use true red lamps for lightning in some (emergency) situations, but that is meant to make it quick for the eye to adjust to total darkness. If you go from white light suddenly to dark, you see nothing for a minute or so, but if you instead of bright go from reddish dim light to dark, you get to see things faster.

Imagine you are under attack at night and your facility suddenly loses power, then you'll be a minute in blindness, enough for a tactical team to pwn you... And that is also the idea behind flash grenades (usually also accompanied by a deafening bang sound that leaves your ears ringing and hearing nothing for a minute or so as well).

I was just thinking about this today. I'm usually around 10 hours in front of the PC working or playing games and never thought of using glasses. Recently I started having headaches and eye burning, I think these are the indicators that I need to wear some screen protection glasses.

Is there any science behind these glasses. I have never tried them but they seem like just a quick way to earn a buck from companies?

I do have friends that use these glasses but I never have, I have already formed a habit that after an hour being online working I go out and walk for 15 mins. It not only helps with my eyesight but refreshing my mind and stretching out my legs, I come back energized to keep working hard.

No it's just red light nothing special.  The local astronomy group of telescope people use red lights at night so their pupils do not dialate.

If you guys want to make some bucks, let's build a computer screen similar to Kindle, you know how it does not burn your eyes? That is the future.

After using contact lenses for over a decade I decided to switch to glasses. There was an option to add blue light filters to the glasses. And after using the glasses for over half a year now, I can say that it is very effective, since the screen time is such a large chunk of the day. I am less tired and it is slightly easier for the eyes. In the end it was a good investment.  :)

In order not to spoil the eyes you need, you must not forget to blink your eyes, and not look at one point. Most often this causes all eye problems.

I use several monitors on the table, and I must admit that it is even better for the eyes. When you use some monitors, you do not look to one side, but always rotate your head, your eyes do not stagnate as a result.

Thanks for the responses. I will look into the glasses.

Instead of glasses, is there just a simple translucent blue light screen shield to put over laptops?

No, I don't use blue light glasses. Actually I didn't knew that such glasses are available before I saw this thread. When I work in front of computer for a long time, I'm trying to do short breaks when I feel that my eyes got tired. I also doing eyes exercises sometimes.

I bought a pair like 2 weeks ago and I have to tell you that it makes a huge difference. I used to try to sleep while closing my eyes would cause a strong burn feeling, let alone the headaches. But make sure to buy high quality ones because cheap ones can damage your eyes.

Anyone here that can recommend me some good glasses, I see a lot choices around the net but you know things go there. Anyone that currently is wearing them? Do you feel the difference? Do you get the headaches?

I don't need them currently, good lighting in my office, optimized night light and the monitor brightness at around 20%.

Last I heard, the blue light glasses have minimal effectiveness, but I haven't looked into the scientific aspects of it. Perhaps a blue light filter on your laptop/desktop screen could work better?

People suggest "f.lux" app but it does not work on my iPad or iPhone?

It is a red light app

Most new devices that are available in the market right now has a built in blue light filter like the phone I have. Blue light or anti radiation glasses are more common to those who work at nightmare hours in the front of PC. But if you're just an ordinary person, you could have save a lot less if you just control your usage of devices especially if it's pass of your bed time.

I just bought my glasses which come with blue light protection. I can barely notice the difference, but if I pay attention, I can see the more "yellow-ish" colors. It works fine so far.

I thought iOS had a native "night mode" that "lowers" the blue light? I use the 3D touch on the bright panel and it just shows a bubble to enable/disable it.

Light filters on the screen are the best for me because after my day job, late night is the only time I could do ICO projects on the pc.

Same here. I have a day job too that's why we should take care of our eyesight as much as possible because it will affect our performance as well. Stay healthy ! And since you're also interested in ICO projects, I heard that Bitrus (https://to.crwd.cr/z7G) will have a new exchanger that you can check out.

I do not really use any type of glasses, but I think it is something that should be taken into account, especially when it is on the computer for so long, I have seen that many people begin to fail vision due to age, so it is highly recommended to start with vitamin treatments for the body and eyes from the early ages of youth to protect vision.

Windows has a setting called Night Light. I keep this on all the time to take the damaging blue out of the screen. Also, I adjust the brightness according to the amount of light in the room.

I am started to use specs lately which comes with radiation reflector coating so which is better to wear while we are surfing the display for too long but for sure it will hurt the eyes but we can eliminate the radiations entering into ours directly.

You also can buy one without any powers on it.

Even though I stay in front of a computer of phone most of the day I don't use any special glasses or applications to prevent hurting my eyes. So far I've never had any problems with my eyes but I'm imagining that if I continue like this in a few years things will not be the same. I think in the future I will start using some applications to reduce blue light of my phone screen but for now I'm good.

I used to back when I was younger.  I got out of the habit of wearing them though and my new eye doctor has never felt I needed to replace them.  They had a rose tint to them to help combat the fatigue fluorescent lights and computer screens can put on your eyes.  Of course that was back in the days of CRT's too, so...

I am planning on buying one for myself since I am always infront of computer or on my phone,
Does this glass really works or is it just another scheme for people to buy it?
My head always hurts and I read that it is because of long exposure to the computer or phones and the glass could help a lot and also to your sleep.
