Back in 2017 I believe we have lots and lots of millionaires and billionaires in the crypto atmosphere, now back in 2018 we really have a terrible happenings like for e.g the drop down of bitcoin, ICO no longer paying up, funds get missing either on Exhcangers site or investment. I believe we have lots of encounters in lost of funds

Now what is your own side you ever lost your funds?

you have no way of knowing that. not back then and not now. this is simply your guess.

Quote
ICO no longer paying up,
ICOs have always been bad. and that is why they have always failed no matter what they initially gave you. some of them started at the peak of the hype so obviously they were better "bets" than others but they all end up dead eventually be cause of their uselessness.

funds get missing either on Exhcangers site or investment. I believe we have lots of encounters in lost of funds Now what is your own side you ever lost your funds?
you don't lose your funds for no reason! you have to get hacked. and although hacks are common but it is not like they are happening every day!

So far,I've lost 30$ worth of bitcoin buying some shitty non-working "make money online" guide on this forum. ;D
I haven't invested in any ICOs and I've never deposited my coins into a crypto exchange that eventually got hacked.

I have lost some bitcoin and ethereum on some ICO's, i dont know the
exact amount but it isnt massive at all.

Since then I have liquidated almost all of the tokens back into bitcoin
so in the future they will grow and show a profit.

I havent lost anything on hacked exchanges because i dont or havent
left funds on them for any length of time.

We lost 95% of our portfolio wealth in 2018. We never invested our own money but we worked trading a little and doing bounty jobs, investing in ICOS etc form the proceeds for nearly two years. We were primarily holding and not day trading as such, so in the crash of 2018 we literally saw everything fall before our eyes and were helpless watching our portfolio and dreams dissipate. Now we want to do things differently so we have started all over again. I do not know if we will succeed but so far we are doing a little bit better this month than the previous year, so if we can get ahead and collect some good coins and tokens with potential upside through consistent good results from day trading and the passive robots, then we might be doing something right for a change.

I can understand your thoughts in general. But before we discuss this, we need to know a few things! What does Bitcoin mean to you first? Is it an investment instrument or a means of payment? This is really important! Then your thoughts for Bitcoin is 1-2 years or long term?

If you see it as an investment tool, take Bitcoin or any cryptocurrencies and wait. One day you will definitely earn money. If your preferred crypto is based on an accurate project.

If you see it as money, it's no problem today or tomorrow you can use it any time you want to spend.

I'm sorry if you see it as a short-term investment. In the long term, everyone believes in Bitcoin.

I think what is Bitcoin before you decide? How does it proceed? You have to read on a lot of topics like what might be in the future.

I had lost 0.4 BTC on 5 Dec 2017. I was transferring my funds from my bittrex and while I was transferring BTC the address that I had copied to my clipboard was changed by a malware and my btc were transferred to the hacker..... When I searched the address on google I found article where people had written that they were also affected by this and it was a hacker using that address. From then I have been extra alert during my transaction.

Now recently I read that there is a new malware which can even hack your 2FA along with your credentials:

Never lost any cryptocurrency since I started using it regularly since 2012.

Just by using common sense really. I don't keep my coins on any exchange, no matter the reputation it has.
I don't partake in ICOs or airdrops and I'm very careful whenever I send cryptocurrency to someone.

Aside from that, I like to think that I have pretty decent security.
I browse the internet with NoScript turned on, never run any sort of sketchy plugins and I don't just randomly download/run software.

you don't lose your funds for no reason! you have to get hacked. and although hacks are common but it is not like they are happening every day!
Well, you don't lose them in this sense unless you are hacked, but this person is also talking about losing an investment. I, for instance, had around $1k worth of btc when it was ATH. I didn't sell by bitcoins, so due to the huge drop I lost a very significant amount of it. As the months went by, I needed money, so I has to sell that amount for much less than $1k. So yeah, 2018 was not a very good year if we talk about cryptos for me.
Now what is your own side you ever lost your funds?
I know it was my own mistake not to sell when I had the chance, and I got over it. I believe in the market, I hate FUD and panic-selling newbies, and I am pretty sure cryptos will not be forgotten for a long time. We are still at early stages here.

I already lost huge amount of money because most of my funds are in bitcoin and ethereum which now have low price in the market. After the falling price of bitcoin and ethereum I still not regain all my losses. I lost thousands of dollars because of falling down and now I still hoping that I regain it.

I'll just take the experience as one hell of a fact that what goes up must come down.
I still have some funds that I save for the winter so I'm still good but then I wish all the terrible things that is coming from now on are going to be ignored so it won't cause panic. Still content with the price right now so long as it won't go low as $1000

Losing some btc with ico projects who completely scams investors money, I have that with amigo coin the project give a promising offers
where I was to lazy sending my btc and holds my share of coins, only to realize that there's nothing that will happen to this project, I take
it as charge to my experience and will not happen again, I'll be wiser to assess carefully before investing again.

While at that time I never bought directly either through exchange or ICO, I never felt a loss of funds that I had gotten from hard work, but sometimes felt sorry for being late to sell when prices could still make a profit of 100-300% from current prices.

Well, the crypto space was pretty much fruitful back then. The unsustainable predictions attracted lots of late comers who got disappointed. Always expect the worse in whatever you do..
I know of prominent crypto personality who knew ahead of time that this was going to happen and he/she sold everything.

One thing that you have to know, although most bitcoin investor had suffered a lot of losses but they still stand for investing and they are still loyal to keep spreading a good thought for many people to use bitcoin at least in this forum.

For myself, I once bought an altcoin that was experiencing price increases at that time. Maybe you've seen how the altcoin is being pumped, the price will increase many times but after that the altcoin has decreased dramatically more than the initial price, and until now I still hold it. Maybe it was my regret being a cryptocurrency investor, losing money and losing time for sure.

I lost my dream home, which I was planning to build years ago. The sudden peak in the price gave me the strength to initiate the work. All that went away in a very small period when I made everything done with the design. Once after that I dropped the plan and still living in rented home. Hope my dream for a home gets fulfilled at the earliest.

That's what we call cycles. The problem is that not many has witnessed the last bear cycle, majority entered during the bearish trend of 2017. They FOMO, but didn't have the mindset to protect their funds, they just let it sit on exchanges, and not securing their accounts.

Now what is your own side you ever lost your funds?

Personally, I was a victim of these so called bitcoin doubler in the beginning of my crypto journey. But so far I have learn my mistakes and haven't lost anything in either exchanges or in my wallet. Although I have invested in a couple of ICO's early in 2018, was able to get out and just lost a couple of hundred (around 1300), but I'm cool.

The year 2017 was a very good year for those who had the luck to invest early and leave at the right time, ie who bought the $ 1000 and sold in over $ 19,000 make profit. But most people bought back when the price dropped to $ 7000 and at the current price these people are at a loss. What I want to say is that there are very few people who make a profit

Now what is your own side you ever lost your funds?

I've had a lot of losses

But the fact says different, I'm almost loss about BTC 15.000 because of downtrending.

Feel regret ? Of course
Still interest on crypto ? I still believe and will continue to hold !

I believe anyone who joined cryptocurrency in 2017 upwards must have had an experience that is is not so palatable except otherwise you already have basic knowledge of cryptocurrency and how the market works.
I joined late 2017, invested in some coins, unfortunately I invested at the time the market was bullish.
I was glad I finally made some cool cash until I woke up one morning to discover that the price of the coin I bought has fell with over 90%.
It was crazy .
I cried my heart out.

In my opinion we don't lose the object, but lose its value temporarily. I have also never lost a small amount, but may only lose a number of junk coins that failed to be registered on the exchange site. I believe that prices will continue to fluctuate, so it is better to wait for the right moment to return the lost funds.

The long bearish treand  of  Bitcoin does not mean, Bitcoin is dead, Thou I lost  quite over60% of  my portfolio to the bear market trend, the cryptocurrency community is  not a get rich quick platform, the future is positive. Thou I panic at time but glancing through the past price trend  of  BTC,  confidence comes alive.

The lost of found can be so diverstating but we can not deny the fact that this loses are caused by human errors, most a times the exchanges never dime it fit to upgrade their security software and also individuals failing to guide they crypto assets from frauds. But at that we can not deny the fact that the cryptocurrency market have always been so profitable both in 2017 and 2018 till this time the ICO market is also recording some level of success.

where there are always criminals. if we ever feel cheated, this can not make us understand more about the mode that is always used, so far, bitcoin business people are rarely exposed to similar cases, so we are always careful to examine things that are considered suspicious, so we should report it to the authorities. do not easily believe in something that offers high profits without spending large capital.

you mean mining ? there are two types of them . one is cloud mining and other is normal mining   . i believe cloud mining you are refering with , because almost all of them are doing a scam exits  . popular cloud mining sites are also getting shady because many users do have alot of complaint to them  but if you will be mining coins all by your self i think you will be more safe because no one can scam you  .  you are the one that make your profit   .

For me,i have joined several ICOs but only few of them have paid well.I've realized it is very important to know the ICO well or else it will only turn as a scam and all our efforts will only be worthless .

yes . you cant just joined any ico's  that you see online because not all are legit but most of them frauds  .

For now,i'm still into some good ICOs because they are still giving me some profits

oh good for you because you still manage to choose a good one and you do continue earning on them despite of the dump market condition .

Maybe i'll do trading once the market turns green again.

this is the best time to do trades because the coins are still cheap and that does not also mean that thier sell price is cheaper . of course you can still sell them for a higher price  after doing some tricks's

Maybe now people don't have any choice beside join ICOs because market still not good to do trade. But as a result, developers not think about market or maybe develope their project after listed on market anymore. After get big money, they will develop their project as they want.

you say "now" as if it is a new thing!
this has been going on for as long as altcoin market existed. there are people who aim to make money from thin air, to do that they have to put the least amount of effort into creating a useless coin and then sell it to the gullible newbies who pay for anything. you saw it in 2017 and partly 2018 in the form of ICOs but that is only one form of this type of scam. before it was something else and soon there will be a new form.
and as long as people idiotically give their money to them, they will continue coming back.

Because ICO is in a completely free growth environment, unrestrained, will naturally let many "bad seed" projects drill holes. Popularly speaking, it is the project that first calls some well-known people into the market as "bankers". In fact, the project is not perfect at all. It can not develop "bad seeds". With the platform of spokesperson, many retail investors will enter the market. When a certain scale of retail investors are gathered, they can "cut leek". Before cutting leek, the banker had already stopped, and the pot was full of money.

Such a cycle, there are four or six do not understand the entry of retail investors, ICO rich a few, most of them still lose money, or give money to bankers and enterprises.

The reason is still a very simple sentence: few investors have the ability to really understand the block chain project, ICO investment has a very serious information asymmetry.

"Bad Seed" company disturbed the pot of ICO soup, so that the main theme became: ICO is just a high-tech enterprises and celebrities endorsement of the money game, nothing to participate in ~!

They were only millionaires on paper, because they did not sell the coins to be millionaires. <or used it>  ;)  A lot of them still have those coins, so they might become Billionaires in the future, if they use or sell those coins when the price recover.

An investor has to make difficult decisions to become successful and not selling everything when the price is at a all time high is one of them. Most of us have a long-term hoarding strategy and nobody knows if this will be successful or not, but we are willing to take the risk for a possible huge reward.

I had some losses due to crypto gambling, lending and trading if I were to combine these three it would add up to 2 BTC(estimate). Bitcoin was still cheap few years ago I remember the price slowly rising from $300 to $600 when I started losing. Even though I lost some BTC i've already moved on from the past and plan on staying until the end.

I believe it will continue increase more than $ 20.000 so that's why I keep hold it.
But the fact says different, I'm almost loss about BTC 15.000 because of downtrending.

Feel regret ? Of course
Still interest on crypto ? I still believe and will continue to hold !
Am I reading it correctly BTC15,000? or BTC15  Either way it's an insane amount to lose.

until now I have never lost, because I did not buy the token via ico and only bought cryptocurrency through an exchange with a long-term investment, but I have not yet bought a cryptocurrency, because it will still drop at the lowest

I lost money with falling crypto prices, but I wasn't too pessimistic about that. The loss problem I experienced, I prefer to call it profit delayed, and I still think that in the future there will be a recovery so that there is an opportunity to make a profit.

The price drop does not mean that one has lost a lot. If you think about the coins only, they still have the same amount of coins now when compared to the coins they had when the price almost reached $20,000. So this means they did not actually lose anything unless they sold it for cheaper value.
Fortunately i haven't lost (not counting the price drop or anything related to that) anything so far. Never fell for a huge scam or didn't lose any coin on an exchange.

Yes, these situations are unfortunate and I've lost my money so badly.. Let me explain how I lost my money i buy altcoin bought and $ 100 thousand fell to 28000 dollars,  then I bought from Astorgame ico  buy token ( 1 bitcoin = 15.000 usd )  The project has been asleep for 1 year...  And I lost my last $ 10 thousand on leveraged sites... Finish.

I did not lose, but the decline in crypto prices made the profit opportunity narrower, and I would be more patient in enduring waiting for conditions to recover.

I do not think that this is an accurate statement.

Losing money as an investment is not consider losing unless you sell the asset you are holding, right now my portfolio is in big -% USD but it still has the same amount of Crypto it had before since I never sold any of my holdings so I still not consider myself in loss unless I sell, for example if I have 1 BTC  before the huge downtrend I still have 1 BTC now nothing changed for me.

I had some losses at the begininig when I first started dealing with Bitcoin. I made some wrong judgements and bad investments but I've learned my lesson. This was years ago and know I'm much more careful. Also, I never invest in ICOs, for me this is the waist of time and money and almost definite road to accumulate loss. But don't forget that when you active deal with Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies sooner or later the loss will come, the question is only in what extend and how fast and successful you can recover it.

I hope that you can achieve your dream and start building your dream home sooner or later. I believe that bitcoin will increase again, we just need to be more patient and to never give up with this crypto, because I think the future will be based on crypto, so I have still the hope for that. In my case, I think my I didn't take a good decision to cash out when bitcoin in the top in December 2017, maybe it's a bad thing, but also it can be a good thing if bitcoin will increase more  than 20k$ in the next few years.

I think if you never sold your coins, you do not lose but if you sold the coins, you lose some money especially in this bear market. You never know until how much the price will drop, and it's better to use this time to buy any coins while it's at a low price. And if I were you, I will spend small money to buy potential coins. But before I bought one or two coins, I will research to see if I have a chance or not to make a profit in the future.

I haven't invested in any ICOs and I've never deposited my coins into a crypto exchange that eventually got hacked.
LOL, good for you, you only lost a little amount compared to me. ;D I think I lost more than $10,000 to $11,000 US dollars investing on a new Crypto Currency way back at early 2018 when the price of Bitcoin is still, I think the price is around $15,000 to $17,000 US dollars when I invested. Today if I sell that coin that I bought it is around $300 US dollars and lost 97% of my investment if I will sell it now. But I won't sell it now because I'll hodl it until it recovers back(I wish it will). :)

I don't know but I feel very lucky when it comes to hacking. Before Bitgrail have done the hack or exit scam, I managed to withdraw all my funds there and now in Cryptopia, where I sold all my tokens before it happened. But still the sad part is I sold all of them with huge losses.

I just lost a reasonable amount of money in BTC to a scammer. He claimed he has a mining farm where investors can invest and make some profits every week. I sent my investment through blockchain .com on the 9th February and till now he claimed that my money did not reach his wallet. I sent the TX which confirmed that the transaction was successful what he did next was to remove me from his Whatsapp group.

Sad story but you learned to spot scammer with this experience. In order to stay away from scammers you need to do your "homework" before investing to idea/project/site. Mining profits decreased drastically with market downtrend and profits are not covering the costs caused by mining farms. Good old days are gone and noone is offering such deals if there is no interest coincidence.

In late 2017 payment from bounty projects was awesome, it was much much more than my salary, I did not feel lack of money that time, this bear trend took it all.

I already lose some of my investment coins but gladly, I don't sell them right now. I cannot remember how much I lose, I don't calculate too details. But I still believe that all of my lose will be change in this year or in the next year because cryptocurrency will get a bull market later so I don't think that I will still lose in the future. Holding some altcoin is pain but we have a chance to see it increase again so even we are lose now, it doesn't mean we still lose for the next year.
