Title: How to find a mentor for trading
Post by: clover12 on February 05, 2019, 04:53:30 PM
How do I find a mentor that has lots of experience doing this stuff?

Online and also in person. ;)

Somebody who knows what they are doing for a long time now.

Before anything else, do you have ideas on trading by now?
I mean, it is better to have knowledge first right?

Now, regarding where to find a mentor, then you are already on a good track. This forum have a lot of people who knows what they are doing.
The thing about learning in person will be a problem.
You will need to filter all the people here who are near you.
Better go to your local section first to find people who are willing to do it.

There are lots of traders around but I don't know if there's someone willing to spend time mentoring you day by day. As you know, we have different chores in our daily life.

Why not seek on your local group at any various platforms? Whether here or social media crypto groups.

But you know, every stuffs are now available on the internet. You just have to read and understand what you read. It's not that you will just do self study all the time but on the way as you progress you can asked questions where you got stuck or having a problem. In that way, you can have a specific answer to your trading question and not to the point that someone will teach you from zero knowledge.

The basic prep is up to you - new books and videos.
Then you could try to message Top Authors from https://www.tradingview.com and negotiate something. My advice is to not try mimic anybody, but to develop your own trading style. And start small!

How about learning from Youtube? There could be a lot of mentoring programs online but it would cost you a chunk of money. I think it's better if you're going to learn it by yourself by studying videos or even books as well. Regarding this community though, I'm not really sure and I don't know if something is willing to share his/her "secret trading sauce". Treat this whole crypto trading as a journey, starts with baby steps and always be positive.

you should learn first. have the basic idea of what trading is all about. what you want to trade, pairs, signals, lines and patterns. there are so many thing to learn before you seek the hands of a mentor. then it will be easy for to learn from the mentor. Not all mentors are professional. some need to make money from you. you have to be careful.

Not sure if this is the right move here. If you don't know someone in person that can help you trade, then I'd probably just try to learn alone. Personally, as much as possible I'd stay away from having sort of "online mentors". Since you really don't know the person personally, you really don't know his/her intentions on why he/she is willing to mentor you. He/she might be doing it for personal gains and such. If you still want to do it though, I just suggest that you keep your eyes peeled, and be skeptical about everyone.

So,

You suggest just keeping your trading activity a total secret?????????

If you trade full time, do you not tell anyone what you do for a living?

You can learn to trade on your own and at zero cost, youtube already full of free videos that touch everything related to trading whether it was Forex or Crypto and there are videos for every strategy too and you can combine that with making an account at Tradeview and observe the top traders, then you can apply what you are learning on your free account from Tradeview and start to measure your performance and then move to real trading. experience is what really matters.

What? Please re-read what I said. You definitely missed what I was trying to say. What I was saying is that you should be cautious on choosing a "mentor", especially when talking about looking for one online; because they could end up having to mentor you with bad intentions.

You do not need a mentor for you to learn and understand how trading works. Actually, I didn't have any mentor before when I was newbie. It is better if you will the one who will teach your own self for you to understand more how trading works.

It is really hard to find that kind of person nowadays because those kind of traders are busy doing their own tradings, but if somehow you know a friend who also trades good then you are lucky enough if he or she teaches you.

In this forum there are many people who have long been trading, and many of them are experts in trade. Maybe you can make them mentors so you can study in trade. The best mentor in my opinion are people who have long been trading because they already know the development of fluctuations from year to year, so we can learn from their experience. If I want to study trade, I always ask my friends who have done trading, there I can take knowledge from the experiences they have been through, this is an efficient way in my opinion to be able to learn trade.

In the first place you can be a good trader if you will prove to yourself that you have a passion and happy doing it, no matter how hard it is.
Because trading is not an easy activity like what you are thinking. It can help you out to have a prosper life but it can also push you down too financially. So I think reading most of time in the forum especially in trading discussion is one of the things you can do, also you watch and listen in youtube who are discussing about trading, then you can check cryptonews updates about in trading too something like that.

Mentor just for trading ?

Now it's actually very easy to get any information, including how you can become a good trader so you don't need to find a mentor just to teach you for trading, also market of crypto is very volatile and you just can't apply past method at the current market.
After all, it would be more useful if you are looking for a mentor how to do business outside crypto, just in case crypto doesn't take you as expected

Trading is not just easy to gain money, you need to dig more and absorb knowledge at least in basic trading techniques.
You know your self how far you can do in trading, just remember these words before you engaging into trading and probably you are fully knowledgeable. "No bird soars too high if he soars with his own wings".

I remember when I was new here, I am really curious what is trading and how do I earn a profit, I didn't have any Idea. I stick on this section and keep reading until I've learned. Just what I did until now, if I were your shoes now mentor is not necessary for trading, you need more research and watch a tutorial on youtube if needed.

Are you going to invest in millions in the crypto trading,if yes then look for a experienced trader to be mentor or if you are just new and going to start with small amount then you need to be your mentor as well because no one is going to make effort for you to make money, everyone is selfish here.Ask for the suggestions and do your own research about what other traders were doing.

Normally, people learn trading by reading books and practicing. If you are finding a mentor to teach you trading, it is better to find a reputable one and be prepared to pay. IMO, learning by yourself and use the fees for practicing will be a better option.

Finding a mentor for trading crypto currency should not be a problem because there are so many people out there with versed experience in trading crypto and other stock exchange. The bottom line is that what work for Mr A may not work for Mr B and that you must be your own mentor by reading and researching for knowledge.

no need to find mentor mate.  Make a research!  Indeed all of the experts and trader that have enough experience already share a tutorial around the internet to help others especially on youtube .so try to search and educate your self no need to pay for mentor.

Isn't hard to look for but the problem if they are willing to teach. May a simple complement and service charge will absolutely work for these. But you wanting it to be free, then you can learn it through online research or just call help for your friend but never expect to have a full time teaching with.

You( OP) can learn it through actual trading and such a time you'll find your own strategies.

It seems to me that self-education will help you better than any trader. Some time ago I also became interested in trading. I watch tutorial videos on YouTube, subscribe to subject groups in Telegram. Now there is a lot of information on the Internet, the main thing is the desire to find it.

I don't like to follow anyone while trading because people have intention to manipulate us so just following ourselves will make more benefits to us.But making our mind free while doing trading will be good to make the better decision so you can follow some things which can make you to be relaxed.

unfortunately when it comes to financial matters there is nobody that is going to be helpful to you in my experience. specially if it is someone you don't even know yet. you either get someone who doesn't know anything who will mislead you more and that is damaging to your pocket. or you get someone who is knowledgeable but will mislead you for his own benefits, he may even take your money from you in the process.

My friend, the best mentor are the Books, although I do not deny you I did a great training with a Latino Youtuber, which, I learned to understand the market and the losses stopped, but the fundamental thing is to read books, I recommend Wyckoff, Livermore, Warren Buffet, Even Random Walk by Wall Streeth ..

That's right, is just the hardwork and being committed to the job. I've just learn trading through reading and in trading sites, trying to understand on how it works, watching tutorials and many other ways. Is just us on how work for it, mentors will only just guide us of what we do but we have our own decisions. Learning is not instant, it is a step by step process, so take time.

If a trader can earn in this bear market, why would he even thinks of wasting his time to train someone?
He'd rather trade on his own never bothering whatever all the rest are doing after all, he can stand on his own without any of us. If ever you can find someone who will train you being a mentor, be cautious because I doubt that man is up to get your money without even teaching you any terms in crypto trading.

If you have trading experiences then it would be easy for you to cope with the rest of the lesson along the way. You may find the person you are looking for in any online courses or in your hometown. But the problem is the person you are looking for is not really free to teach you, because for them they invested their time and effort just to reach to that point. So, you have to pay them if you really want to learn, though there are free courses and information on the internet already.

Just like this one: https://www.cryptotradingschoolonline.com/home-2/

I forgot his thread here and I'm too lazy to find it right now, so take your time.

Your personal experience is your best mentor in almost everything, so learning a lot, piling it all up and using that knowledge to gain something extraordinary (above just results alone) be it trading or real life challenges.

He's been into giving signals and managing trades since early 2018 when BTC was at its peak, he predicted the fall so accurately it saved many traders from losing their asses off, and had since been adding many new people each day in his army as the bigger, the better. He, with his few other partners, released a newer version of BCW where we can share our sentiments towards market movements and learn from the already provided great content or can also write for them and get paid for the same if the community likes it. If you suggesting the YouTube it is not a right guide for trading because they give only direction, so we only follow the steps in trading platform. But mentor is not perfect for all because trading is unpredictable profitable area so we must take effort our own. Surely we will improve ourself.

Dont look for someone who want you to pay them to give you an advise. Its not you who will, but them for giving something that is not 100% guarantee that will make you rich or earn in trades. Instead INVEST in reading books about trading, join group sessions attend seminars that can help you learn more about how to read charts and trends. In other words, before you invest in something else, invest in your self first through learning.

First, you have 6-month or more experience in trading than go to mentor otherwise you can lose a huge money, A mentor can harm you just as much as you can gain it depends on your mentor, An experienced mentor can do a lot better for you, But if you can be your mentor, then that is the best.

You have some points there but mentorship is something that will let you to fully excecute your strategy in a proper ways, reading and watching will give you ideas with what possibilities while mentors can give you the exact outcome talking about real experienced one, it's hard to find that without paying big with their capabilities.

Mentors could be really good while starting but also terrible for advance stuff. Most of the people that have been trading for years or any long periods of time usually have their own system built and whatever they found success in they will teach you about it but that is it a very shallow small percent of how trading is done.

You would require a lot of mentors to show you all kinds of different ways of trading so you would actually know other options as well, you can't have that luxury with just one mentor who teaches their own way to you and skip all other options. If you want a mentor, you should focus on getting a lot of them even from early on so you do not have a bad start that you will have hard time trying to challenge your mind to forget and look for other methods later on.

I think it would be difficult if we asked someone to teach us to trade online (although sometimes there are some who do it smoothly). But it will be easier for us to find friends directly who already understand about trading so we can ask or share freely.

Today, to trade in addition to their own participation, there is an opportunity to trade with proven bots, but the chances that it will not be buggy a little. Give your money in trust or trade with a mentor, I think less profitable than learning to trade yourself.
Good mentor on the ad will not find and all the recommendations are not confirmed, so here only time will tell.

Well, if you are pertaining to a "mentor" like a person who can teach you on how to work out things, I would say that it would be difficult to find because of the reality that every trade has its secrets, and sharing that secret would be detrimental for the one holding it, especially if its working out for them. That's the risk a person whom is willing to be a mentor would have to juggle with, whether he would share and help others or keep his strategies in order to make himself successful. I think for the term "mentor", it would be better to find resources that you would study on your own in order to learn the secrets of the trade. I think that's what most people did in order to learn how the market works. If you would treat mentor like that, I think there would be plenty you can  find.

Title: Re: How to find a mentor for trading

It's very tricky to look for a trading mentor. That someone would probably ask to get paid for advice and mentorship and you can't never be sure if he is really guiding you well and working for your profit or for himself. And I think there are only few people who would really like to help you because they are good and like to help others.
So instead if that you rather work on your own trading skills, learn and collect experiences, be patient and at the end you will have results.

So many claim to be experts at trading, and end up giving out advice and strategies in exchange for payment, and this strategies are not always correct, itd better to study online especially via YouTube and learn all there is to learn without actually seeking for a physical mentor.
Most times it could even be risky as one could be tempted to give out personal informations to this very expert which could be used against them

Well i think even with our own research,we can still make a good trading in the future. It's not necessary to find a good mentor.Everything is already available in the internet. If you have some questions in your mind, then raise it in this forum.I'm sure there are a lot of experienced traders here who will give their best ideas for free. You just have to be resourceful and always be patient too.

How do I find a mentor that has lots of experience doing this stuff?

Online and also in person. ;)

Somebody who knows what they are doing for a long time now.

Ask first your friends if they know about cryptocurrency. Maybe they are just hiding it because of anonimity. With this you can have a buddy or sharing of experience which can broaden up your knowledge. If he's a trading expert then good for you. If not, try finding some menthor here in the forum but its hard if you wanted to meet him in person.

In other words, before you invest in something else, invest in your self first through learning.
right and I strongly agree with what he says, it is better that you can find information in several media to find out the correct trading method and can always benefit because if you ask someone else you will be told to buy a coin that will makes you trapped there.

Everyone basically has good skills in trading, all they have to do is keep trying to trade. That way, everyone will have additional skills and experience, this is what will become someone's main capital in bridging them to become successful in trading. Trading is a thing that can be learned, explore our abilities and we will get what we want.

Finding a good trading  mentor is not an easy task to accomplished a lot of them prefers doing there things on their own while the few ones will prefer you joining their social media chats for trading calls others will prefers selling their trading strategies, my advice is that get enough materials on YouTube, google and babypips you will learn a lot of stuffs about trading and practice with time you have headway and progress in your trading adventure.

Trading looks simple thing for common people but its not,it involves lot of statistics and analysis to make profits from trading or you can just do it as gambling to make money but still it is not going to work when you simply believe your luck for long term so learning and practicing will make us perfect.

we can get counselors by means of friendship, because if we don't know each other it can be dangerous, because we are getting improper guidance.
before entering into crypto trade we should have friends or relatives who already understand the crypto world, we cannot enter without a guide who can direct us so we don't fall into a big loss.

Yes we need expert trader to teach us how to become proffesional trader that possible to earn good profit with less risk, like learn more about trading plan and risk management. We can join trading cource offline or online. And also we have to learn others thing like knowledge of technical analysis by self from google. Just spend more times to learn it so we will have more knowledge about trading.

This forum provides the right solution for traders or mining who are still learning and still do not know how to trade or mining well, some threads can help to answer all trading problems that make you confused, but never ask about prices because there will be no who knows the cryptocurrency price movements.

Did you try posting in our services (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0) board ?
Because, I remember there was a topic which was about hiring a mentor for learning the basics of trading or offering the services to guide newbie traders. Sorry, could not recall exactly but I am sure if you try, definitely you can get some professional traders to guide you properly through step by step learning process.

I assume you are ready to spend big as we cannot expect people to dedicate their precious time on educating ourselves. I guess when you are not affordable with this, you may go for slow learning by making use of all the resources available through out internet. I guess youtube videos are more effective than mentors you are expecting.

Try to find them in the trading group that you meet, but before you ask them to teach you try you must be friends with them because not a few people can only use other people. That won't be difficult because I'm sure you already have a number of friends who you can trust that have long joined the crypto world.

Do you think you can trust people in a decentralized market? They can easily send you fake information about him to scam your money and make false statements about the market.
I think in the stock market there are real trading advisers. They will use all their knowledge to help you. In the crypto market, I advise you not to trust anyone. because the way the market works is that no one knows its direction.

It would be very expensive to find a mentor to teach you, most of the traders here are learning through self education.
Nowadays, it's already easy due to some good technology we have, a simple search in google, you will already see a display of articles
about trading and what you like to know.

Watching videos can also help, it's more reliable.

You can never expect to be profitable if you rely on someone, they'll just teach you the basic and theory, you'll still be the one to initiate it.

Having direct communication with other traders is more than enough facility a trader may need all the times. Because, this will help you to have all the needed information at any time you may need. I am also part of many telegram groups but whenever I ask any doubts, hardly people do reply me.

I can understand that everyone is busy with their schedules and this is the reason I am also thinking like a paid mentor will be more helpful at more emergency times.

I know a lot of people  were knowledgeable in crypto trading but some of them are taking advantage to those who are still learning and mostly likely they will just want to scam them. It is hard to trust someone during this time, especially dealing into unknown identity. If wanting to have a mentor, better to ask your friend cause we could rely about this or by doing research.

There are few trading mentors here in the bitcoin forum that are giving reliable information. Actually, I have a mentor before and it is the reason why I able to handle the risks in the trading. But it is hard to find a mentor because some of the mentors are asking money in exchange of their lessons and information that you can learn.

Is there any YouTube love mentor you know? There are many trading guidance video on the YouTube but I didn't know anyone give guidance on trading by sitting live and do that.

I suggest go with the trading site community like their telegram or discord to learn and get the tips on trading on the moment of raise.

Why would you need a mentor? Use your own intuition. Practice self learning. Its the best. You will make mistakes if you learn by yourself. And these mistakes are crucial for you to master yourself in trading (exaggerating a little too much by using the word master haha). Or you can read other peoples progress on trading and how they are doing it. You will find tons of blogs and videos out there.

We can actually do our own even without mentors that will guide us, but it can be easy for us to understand if there is someone who could help us.
It is our own adoption with the market and how open our minds to understand it without even the help of others.
The most important in trading is to understand the basic and develop our minds into more learning by doing it in actual scenarios.

Correct, it isnt really necessary for you to have a mentor since we can able to self-learn but it isnt bad to have those people to add up on our guides.
Accumulating ideas and trading way on each situation you would able to encounter along the way.If you are really longing for someone to guide you then its your choice.

That's partly true, but the OP asks about a mentor or teacher. not trading signals? yeah, to reach an expert trader is certainly not easily achieved, moreover if you study alon? You still need a teacher so you know what your mistakes are, and what to do, of course mentors can be a method to speed up your learning. and you can search for it in various telegram groups, there are many groups about learning to trade there

Reading information on the internet is indeed a very useful thing, but be assured that our experience in making every decision will be far more valuable. Experience in the world of trading will be able to determine whether we succeed or not, the greater the experience we have, the more intelligent we will be in analyzing a coin.

So keep doing Trading and when we fail, don't give up, what we do will be useful to make far better decisions in the future. Try it continuously, don't give up because what we do will definitely be useful !!!

I've met so many people in the sector that I'm not sure what to say about which one. Therefore, I want to continue my message by making generalizations and giving you advice. First of all, I would like to point out that you will not find a fully efficient or successful consultant in the market. If there is such a consultant already you can claim in a matter of seconds you can earn. In other words, it is useful to stay away from people who are advertising because I can help you with the following fees or give investment advice. This will be a step that will help you both your psychology and your budget. The other advice I can give you is that you don't deal with someone else's ideas and suggestions because you never get experience with the success of others or someone else's failure and you will stay where you are. For this reason, instead of consulting, I advise you to develop yourself, do research and learn to trade with a low budget in a professional way.

in fact, it's very difficult to find someone like that, because basically many people are looking for a mentor to trade. maybe very much for forex, but sometimes they also fail. however, I found some people who were great at trading on social media, and they taught me quite well. but you're right, learning with experience alone is the best.

No doubt your idea is too good. But I think that in trading the most important thing is that you must have good experience. Experience is the key to success. We can see that those people who have spent a lot of time in market they are more confident and always know the right time to invest.

I think before starting regular trading we need to spend some time in market with low investment which is important for becoming a successful trader.

Before looking for a mentor, read a couple of books, I recommend Wyckoff, Livermore, Warren Buffet, why? In this world there are many people selling smoke, they teach you technical analysis without understanding the market, and that is very dangerous, the figures are just that, there is no indicator that defines well the emotions of the people, much less the Offer-Demand, a bot only does what you program, if you have a bot that you buy is worse because you will not know who programmed it and under what technical analysis conditions you have, now if you understand the market because you have read some books and decide do a course, you will have your own criteria and you will have more analysis tools, but most academies what they do is show you all the indicators and do not teach you to analyze the market as it should. ;)

Before looking for a mentor, read a couple of books, I recommend Wyckoff, Livermore, Warren Buffet, why? In this world there are many people selling smoke, they teach you technical analysis without understanding the market, and that is very dangerous, the figures are just that, there is no indicator that defines well the emotions of the people, much less the Offer-Demand, a bot only does what you program, if you have a bot that you buy is worse because you will not know who programmed it and under what technical analysis conditions you have, now if you understand the market because you have read some books and decide do a course, you will have your own criteria and you will have more analysis tools, but most academies what they do is show you all the indicators and do not teach you to analyze the market as it should. ;)
People do really teach different ways but actually giving out the same indicators specially on technical ones but the thing here is that people do have its own way on how to apply these things.
Dangerous if you do just follow their method without even knowing on what you are doing. You are just burning your own pocket on this case. Finding mentor will actually depend on you if you do really
like but I would rather prefer to be independent on my own since we can learn things without the need of a mentor.

How do I find a mentor that has lots of experience doing this stuff?

Online and also in person. ;)

Somebody who knows what they are doing for a long time now.
Go to youtube. Find a best trading tutorial you see, then look for their description link if they are offering online course or membership fee for their community. There are also some trader that travels in different state/countries to teach his/her students in trading. It's better if you'll be able to pick a good mentor which will teach you personally rather than online.

Correct, you don't need to go elsewhere, we can utilize youtube and learn free trading techniques.
If we can watch non sense videos in youtube, I'm sure we can spend time learning how to trade because our aim is to be successful.
It will certainly take a lot of effort to learn and be effective, but if you love what you are doing, that will give you a good result.

I usually get trading mentors in my community. and they are rarely to provide an insight into more silent trading. and indeed we must try to get our respective mentors. but at least we understand basic trading

luckily me! I have a mentor and he is my friend. he has been learned about crypto since 2012. And until now he still survives. Or as friends have said that there are many groups about signals or trading news. And remember trade is depended on your passion.

People with experience spend their time on their business, that`s why they have a lot of experience. They can teach others, but you will have to pay for that. Most of the people who ask for money are scammers. I think the best way is youtube, or some other site, where you have traders who live stream their trades, some of them are making videos, why to not watch all of them for free and in the same time compare them and after some time you will sort them and you will know whom to follow.

Everybody is busy earning their own money. Unless maybe you have a friend in crypto

Many people are also offering their services to teach trading. You can also learn from them if they have some time and does not charge you much. But you should beware that there are few people who first give you some lessons on trading and suggest you to hand over their money to you so they can preform trading on your behalf. You should not accept such an offer as these people get people money and scam them.

There are many good people here in the forum who are very accommodating to those who are inquiring here about in trading.
if some give their response it means that person are capable to be your mentor mate, especially if they give link referring about
in trading too.

I doubt you'll find anyone that is just willing to hand out their secrets for free.  It takes a lot of time to acquire the knowledge and skills to be a successful trader and unless you have something to offer I doubt you will find anyone willing to mentor you.

There is no specialized investigation strategy that is optimal. Great approach to end up an expert merchant is time and experience. Market perception sufficiently long. Practice is the most ideal approach to learn. If you just need to learn and won't go out on a limb and begin practicing, you will experience the ill effects of data over-burden and never accomplish your objective to wind up a fruitful trader. The just two things that are critical are the means by which to control your feelings and mindset and from where to get the best-Trading signals.

You can try out books or go through online course but I would say experience is biggest tutor bcz when you will start trading and face dump and pump phase then you gain a lot of experience how to handle stress and have patience while trading,it is something no one can teach unless you experienced it.

Having a mentor is important because they give you a direction where you can go, but if you want a mentor to make you a million or billion that's not a good idea. Use a mentor to motivate you. I read an article that even if they don't have a mentor they make million through trading a stock and other investment by reading a BOOK and watching  tutorial video, so why not to try that also.

It depends if you know someone who is willing to spend time teaching you about the basics of trading. As for me, we could still learn a lot about trading online through reading and watching useful videos. It is just for you to look for tools that could help you gain more knowledge.

Developing our own knowledge with trading isn't easy when you don't have the proper tools needed, in order to acquire skills that's very important when you're at the current activities involved. If there's somebody who wanted to spend a lot of time, I guess it can be your best friend who also knew trading, but it's hard to find it because the number of people knowledgeable about trading was only selected. Probably we can seek help from online research and from social media chat groups who happen to learn trading basics by group ideas, sharing through person to person communication.

I prefer to work with friends in a secret group. I formed a group to communicate and share about trading.
this is better because there is good communication and will add to the experience.

He just need to look around here and he can already get so many insights towards crypto trading. I would say, hard to find a single individual that can really dedicate his time to teach you. Study and read, maybe that's the best approach for now.

I just watched a lot of YouTube videos about trading. Then I chose those I liked the most and listened to their opinion. Also, many of them have their own chat in telegram, where you can contact them and ask all your questions. That's how I chose a mentor.
