Title: Bitcoin Lightning
Post by: PoS on February 06, 2019, 08:37:40 PM
So read the Dash news it it claims Bitcoin Lightning reaches $2 million capacity.
Why does CMC  not list it as altcoin with own marketcap, it has its own nodes, own network, own use-case.........

Lightning is made possible with Segwit developed by Pieter Wuille

No way it will be listed as an altcoin. It is the same currency (BTC) and no, it doesn't have a separate marketcap. You don't create new bitcoins out of thin air. Even though the lightning network is built like a separate system, at the beginning and at the end (when you open a channel and when you close a channel), you have to settle the transactions on the main bitcoin blockchain (network). The LN just makes it easier and cheaper to transact.

I will not fall into arguments like it ahould be listed separately or it is an independent altcoin, as far as it helps btc and other major coins to get rid of scalability issues i will accept this technology as it will have good effect on overall crypto market as well.

Lighting network is a off-chain scaling solution for bitcoin, litecoin and others that has the promise of making micropayments very fast and almost free.
It will help is mass adoption and use of cryptos.

I think he is talking about a bitcoin fork. It is a low value fork, and is not listed in any reliable exchange, that's why it's not listed in CMC.

Coinmarketcap only recognize some exchanges, not all of them. Once it is listed in those exchanges it will be showing in cmc.

Yes, I also read about this. But Bitcoin Lightning is the same BTC, it can't be an another altcoin so it can't be listed on coinmarketcap as another currency. I think that in the near future bitcoin lightning will be developed.
