At lest you should have mentioned the top 12 in the OP. Here they are:

1. Bitcoin BTC 2. Ethereum ETH 3. Binance Coin BNB 4. Stellar XLM 5. Ripple XRP 6. NEM XEM 7. Litecoin LTC 8. Komodo KMD 9. Monero XMR 10. Verge XVG 11. Tron TRX 12. Pundi X NPXS (taken from https://coinswitch.co/news/12-best-cryptocurrencies-for-long-term-investment-2019-edition)

I don't know what to say except that the most secure long term investment is Bitcoin. All the others may fail. How did Verge and Pundi X got on that list is beyond me.

I met the crypto money world a little late, but I saw for sure that the long-term investment in this market is never wise. Hold BTC and increase your BTC amount with little trade ways.

Seems like you have mentioned those as per your wish, but no research you have done. Why have you mentioned Verge there, I am confused. Verge is total trash. It has faced 51% attack couple of times too.

Surely, two coins from the ones listed by you are not a safe investment. I'm thinking here about NEM and Verge. Both projects have very big problems and I do not expect that they can guarantee any profits. I am more afraid that investors will lose a lot on these coins.

The author may be right for others on that list but why NEM? I like that they have been active in development but I still do not see them recovering yet especially after that shake up.

They didn´t provide a good reason to buy this coin. For example: You should buy Ethereum because it is the second largest coin.. Come on, is that a real reason?
And do not care about these articles, you will always find another coins than you own and you will start to thinking about selling them and buying new coins that you found in some article.  ::)

This down trend caused by the bitcoin because it was getting a lot FUD from the regulators. but there is a little insight about the future of bitcoin after the commissioner of SEC said there was a chance for ETF to be approved.

Good list of coins. Each of them, in my opinion, has a huge potential. If a person believes in this industry and technology, then I think that it is necessary to invest in these coins, but also to follow the trends in the market as he quickly undressed.

Why not put the list on this thread? Not all of us would click the link given by a newbie member.
Anyway I saw the list commented by the other member and I say that its almost the top 1-20 altcoins in the market and I agree about that.
best choice is still bitcoin though.

I know almost all of them, they are all big coins and of course it is a smart idea to hold the big coins because they are literally the biggest and best coins out there. I just don't know two of them, first one is komodo, I read that its a bit similar to monero like system where hiding your transactions is a matter of importance but when we already have monero I do not think having komodo on the list as well is that smart, you already have one with the same idea why add a second one as well.

he other one is Pundi , I understand it is a brand new technology and having a point of sale with crypto currency is really important but the best case for Pundi is being a bit more known and than getting its technology copied by bitcoin and than forgetting about Pundi all together. So its really a top 10 list for me but all that 10 coins are really smart picks and amazing.

a good coin to invest long term in my opinion is a coin that has a top 20 rating in the market. because it has a large volume and clearer concept, and has a good team that is able to develop the project to date.

I think there's something missing, there's no EOS and Cardano. even though these two altcoins are good for now. EOS and ADA are very suitable for long-term investment. so I just want to suggest that try to buy these two altcoins and see for sure you will get a profit.

I totally agree with you the coins you want to contribute has very good potential but  Neo I don’t think that NEO can achieve this target soon,Now I’m waiting for NEO touch 10$ then I will put all of my assets in and hold for next year. I’m not sure 2019 gonna be a good years or not but 10$ for NEO will making profit for me in long term.

What is your opinion?

BTC is the must whether it is short or long term. One should always stay invested in it as it is the market leader. Also would recommend along with it is the XRP, ETH, Neo etc which can be the good bets for the long term as well.

You have to know that tokens roadmap and market supply as well as. You also have to know the price of that coin and how many exchangers exchanging that coin. I think if you search those things correctly you can choose your best coin for investment.

Firstly, you have to decide whether you want be a day trader or a longer term investors/ holder.
With this settled,  however, the cryptocurrency analysis concepts that every altcoin investor should be familiar with are Total Supply, Circulating Supply, Coin Price, Market Capitalization (popularly known as Market Cap), and Coin Price. Researching these will give you a better understanding of what is happening with the market.

Thanks

Of course, it's better to trust your gut and research than believing everything we read.
Not because they're on top necessarily mean that they are good to hold, especially those who are just built by hype. There are a lot of promising token/coin that are still living in a shadow.

I want to know what is the basis of this ranking, btw.

Friend, to be a master in the act of trading, firstly, you must start from the basics and ask questions from those that has acquired lot of experience in trading. To be a successful trader requires other inputs from experience people and not only self. It is very important for everyone to trade and gain experience. Self-analysis is not an easy task, but this skill is well rewarded.

unfortunately none of the coins that were mentioned are good for "long term" investment. they are all mediocre at best and most of them won't even rise in the long run, instead they go down. the main problem they usually share is their huge supplies that is going to always be a preventing force for their long term rises and instead put a dumping pressure on their market forever.

I am a bit disappointed with your list because I expect a surprise. I think most of us already consider that top 50 coin are the best for long investment. From reading the title of your post I expect something about new coin, maybe a review of coin outside of top 100 and the reason why we should consider them as long term investment.

there are a lot of potential coins this year, because it is likely that this year will be the year of increase as the bitcoin increases, other coins will go up. I prefer to hold eth, eth, eth, btc, trx, xlm, maybe that's just because holding lots of coins will make us confused and difficult to understand the market for each coin

the idea of having a total number of cryptocurrency and sending them across as the best to invest on is not really an ideal situation even though there is a disclaimer that states that it is not a financial advice, but then it is best to do  a personal research and also study on coins that have good prospects based on what you understand

These are the top coins on the coinmarketcap so the prediction is very simple. I saw the potential of garbage coins when their prices were too cheap and there were always unexpected pumps. But it also carries risks if they are delisted

Awesome list of cryptocurrencies to hodl! I would definitely advise the same ones except maybe just only XRP)) And just because I have some personal rejection to it) But what do you think about NEM on your list? Lately there was very bad news about this coin going bankrupt. And now when the whole market is growing a little bit, NEM is standing still without any move...Do you think that the situation will change?

The coins that I have so far was Tron, Pundix, Nem, Binance, Xvg, and stellar. Then the rest is I don't have,
maybe in the future.

Among those 12 coins, I agree to the most of them especially Bitcoin and Ethereum, no matter what happens they are still the most reliable coin to be invested in. However I found some coins that in my opinion is just a pump and dump coin, or shit coin, I mean the project of this coins does not really solve any problem nor needed by the crypto community. Like Tron, there are many coins that better than Tron such as IOTA  and Waves, or even EOS is better than Tron I think. And also I don't think you can put XMR and XVG together in the same list, those coins have exactly the same function. If one of them succeed the other will not, so you better choose one of them, for me Monero is better, but XVG is not bad too. But, I still don't think you can put them together in the same list.

You have mentioned really good list of some profitable coins but my choice is bit different mate, I prefer investing in one coin which is good in potential and has good market value, in this regard I would like to name one and only BITCOIN, it is really suitable for long term investment, there is no risk of loss but it is all profit.

It seems to me that today we should consider the only correct strategy for long-term storage of all cryptocurrencies, as well as investments in more promising projects, at our discretion. Thus, we save ourselves from loss if we sell assets at a cheap price, and also attract more funds to the cryptocurrency market, which will increase the capitalization of the cryptocurrency market and, accordingly, increase the level of its stabilization.

https://coinswitch.co/news/12-best-cryptocurrencies-for-long-term-investment-2019-edition
Fortunately I am already holding most of the coins listed in that article. Basically I never believe into corporate hence I never consider XRP and stellar are the choice for long term holding. In that list verge is a surprise inclusion I rarely do hear about it. I do see many people are suggesting binancecoin but not sure how far it may grow. If it will continue then it may beat ethereum too but not sure it will get that much investors world wide.

Usually I do not believe into other's suggestion as I always prefer to have my own due diligence. But, when a list of suggestion coincides with my research unable to resist to comment on them.

Great list you have found there. I'm investing into or doing swing trade with the first 7 coins on the list. The rest if the coins on the list I would not invest into, not saying you can't do some great trades with them.
For really long time holding, for a longer periode  than just 2019, I would only hold bitcoins and maybe Litecoin.

I don;t know, I just have the feeling within me that the beautiful ones have not yet being born. Thank God for last year bear market that help to bring sanity to the valuation of these ICOs, and from what Grin team did, we have seen it is possible to create a coin without ICO, all we need is a great team and community will support the project.

The list is good like bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin,  ripple and Komodo but I don't think the other coins is good for thw year 2019 only for me base to my reseaexh that information I got. I have the other coin last year but I already sold it because I don't see any reason for me to hold it but depends to the person if they are going to buy all in the list.

It is the first quarter of New Year 2019, and we can already see the rising trends of different cryptocurrencies in the blockchain industry. 2019 is going to be the year which is set to change the picture from bearish to bullish. Historically, people use to watch the stock market trends in terms of wealth creation, but now the focus has shifted to top long term cryptocurrencies. Like the previous year’s report, Bitcoin has once again topped the list of the world's most valuable and popular virtual coin by market cap.

Though Bitcoin faced major fluctuations in 2018, it is still the most accepted crypto coin and the most-traded virtual currency by merchants and investors.

Keeping Bitcoin as an exception that always is on the top, let’s explore the following list of the best long-term cryptocurrency investment 2019:
https://coinswitch.co/news/12-best-cryptocurrencies-for-long-term-investment-2019-edition
I do not understand how the analysis of these coins was carried out, in the world of crypto-currencies it is very difficult to guess the best coin, such a list everyone has his own and only time will show who made the list correctly)

Surely, two coins from the ones listed by you are not a safe investment. I'm thinking here about NEM and Verge. Both projects have very big problems and I do not expect that they can guarantee any profits. I am more afraid that investors will lose a lot on these coins.

It is  very difficult to determine the future of cryptocurrency because cryptocurrency is always unstable in nature and market vary from situations and time. so you start your own research and do your investment. I think time will tell whether it's a flash pump, but I really hope that it is not.

I don't quite agree with the above list especially on XEM, TRON and PUNDIX.  There are better projects out there that has yet to gain attention from the public.  I am looking at AION, QNT and XBA.  Perhaps you can check them out.
TRON, Pundi X, XEM is good altcoin. Even these are the best altcoin at the present time, and the three altcoin you list has no potential in the future and it doesn't really have a good product

Many changes have been experienced by digital currencies from year to year, this may be the worst year because all coins are low and Bitcoin has dropped dramatically after the old Bearish market. Crypto is growing rapidly and continues to produce new quality coins, but few have survived, if for the long term I prefer high-quality and clear quality coins like Ethereum, XRP and EOS that have a good future.

BNB may not be a good option because it is getting popular in the recent days due to the more people trading on Binance so when there is a new exchanges gets more features than Binance then everything will get change so it is best for short term only.

4. A logistics-focused coin

I would invest in crypto that pushes forward the use cases of a cryptocurrency.

BTT is actually a great investment having read through their whitepaper and carefully studying the team behind the project but my only challenge with BTT is that they airdrop a lot which I don’t see any logic behind that because if we keep getting the token for free and money is not being exchange, how will the project be able to keep up and not fail even though I am fully aware that bittorent has been on for a long term and still the largest torrent network for now. So for me, in as much as they want to stay relevant, the number of airdrop they do should be limited.
