Title: About New MEW Interface Apps and The Old Ethereum Wallets!
Post by: vycl87 on February 20, 2019, 02:18:49 PM
As many of you know, MyEtherWallet has begun to fall behind the day, and we've been forced to use MEW for some needs. At MEW, they must have noticed that by making an upgrade, they made the platform richer.

As always, web wallet (https://www.myetherwallet.com/) serves as the MetaMask for those who want to continue with the new interface MEW CX Chrome Extension (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/myetherwallet/nlbmnnijcnlegkjjpcfjclmcfggfefdm?hl=en) and also on mobile Android (http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myetherwallet.mewconnect) and iPhone  (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mewconnect/id1391097156?mt=8).
[NOTE: To avoid events like before, please be careful of "phishing" and do not enter your Private Key and Seed without checking all links, including the links I use here]

Up to this update, a different solution has been developed for mobile wallets with the JSON file and / or Private Key. Now mobile wallet application can be installed with seed key which can be used as mobile wallet hardware wallet.

Most of us, including myself, were having problems with the use of existing wallets in this mobile application. Because when you install the wallet, you can import your old account with the private key, not the seed key. I didn't know how to change this, so I sent an e-mail to MyEtherWallet and asked for a status return.

We recommend that you generate a completely new wallet with MEWconnect, and then transfer your funds from your old wallet to the new one. There are a few reasons why this is the best option for the security of your funds.

MEWconnect has a hardware wallet-like functionality. Your private key is protected. This is a significantly safer way to access documents than JSON / Keystore.

By creating a new wallet.

Restoring an existing wallet. Therefore, we do not want to be able to use our platforms.

That's it what came from the MEW team.

I guess that's why we won't be able to use old wallets at least for the time being with MEW Connect or MEW CX.

It looks complicated for me personally, I was moving to the mycrypto and just download the desktop wallet and it has fixed all of these phishing problems because i should not visit the online site again. I can even use the old version of the wallet to create even an offline transaction but the tx will be broadcasted to the network after we go online. MEWconnect looks so complicated for me personally.

The important thing " we can't use our old address to the new platforms of MEW, right? thanks a lot for this dude.

I think MEW has made a good upgrade, but to be honest I still like the old MEW, because for the new one I haven't been able to find the tokenethplorer to check the balance token.

Unfortunately, yes we can't... They recommend us that send our all assets in our wallets.

Just for now, you can use old MEW still.
(You should control this wallet always for phishing!)

I have used MEW recently, I think it's easier to use it and new interface looks good.

Well I wanna ask if I use the old link for 6 months it will be good or not? Also is there any chance that the old link will be retired and cannot be visited again? Well the newer version is good but it's kinda confuse when I transfer some funds from there to other wallet... Like I need to fill some parts that I don't really understand what it's, but the older version I just need a simple click to do a transaction

I think you should look at new one in detail. New one is very good I think. It is simple and is not complex.

If I were you, I use it new one starting from now on. We need seed keys anymore.

There is no explanation about what it is timing. I think we can use it over a years.

Same for me. New user interface is more difficult to navigate around addresses and tokens. Old MEW was super easy than new one but it looks like there are no more options for going back.

I don't get it. Why it is not safe to use your own private key to their website anymore. I tried to log in now and it says that it is not recommended.
I really like the old UI of mew. It looks good now but not liike the old one.

When I also tried to import my old wallet, I experienced the same difficulty. Although, in had already created a new wallet before the time, to which I have the seed. So I was able to import it easily without any hitch.
The only thing o have to do now is transfer the essays in the old to the wallet that has been imported, but it looks tedious for mW, because I have so many assets in there, both the useful ones and many shit coins.

Why do you feel like you should transfer your assets to new wallet,if it is not personal? Is it because of new interface of MEW?

This is probably because you guys got so used to the old interface. Perhaps you should give it more time to adapt.

This is not that easy. I have about 150 different tokens in my ETH wallet. It is not so easy, really! I can't send all of it. Maybe only worthy ones.

I think no one needs to panic about myetherwallet new interface update
There is an option to use the old menu

So panic not or install a imtoken app or trust wallet
Just ensure to keep your private key safe

The real question is not interface. About using old wallets in new concept with MyEtherWallet Connect. We can't do that.
But I really understand why we can't. It is safer way than old ones.

Don't you have the private key of your wallet? Do you have only the seed? Maybe if you can install the older version of the mobile app again or if you can find a way to access your wallet you can export the private key. Maybe the MEW team can help to get the older version of the mobile app just for you to be able to recover your wallet.

exactly, he was too familiar with the old interface. And so are we, it takes a little time to get used to the new interface and I believe this update is great and many times better than the old interface.

I the new user interface is totally wrong. Many bugs appeared when I tried to login with my Ledger nano, also I canīt see the end numbers of each wallet in a list of my all generated ledger ethereum addresses. They should fix it asap.

You still have an option to use the old one, by reading the page they still provide old links where you can still used it and enjoy, regarding to the new one they are saying that using private key or the other stuff is not safe but it's still functioning I also got confused before but after using it I'll able to process the transactions.

Updates can be learned while still using the old ones, time also to update ourselves.

Only recommended but not required. I like the new interface of MEW and I just made a transaction there. Everything is as easy as the old MEW.

One thing I see that is rampant in this crypto space is that most of the project being launched is so complicated that you actually need guides in order to make use of them which is not supposed to see. One thing dev should be worried about is how user friendly their platform is. I prefer the old MEW to this new one because it's more user friendly.

I like THE new MEW wallet update. I think it become more comfortable now. It takes a little time to get used to it and everything will be fine.

I was not comfortable with the new interface at first, but my constant use of it is masking me to get used to it.
It now looks better than the former and ore professional if I may say. It invariably is an improvement.
