Title: What Bitcoin company to invest in?
Post by: lostering on March 11, 2014, 05:42:06 PM
As far as I know, there are 3 ways of investing in bitcoin: mining, hoarding coins, and investing in bitcoin companies.

I am doing some research in what bitcoin companies to invest in.
Top of my head, I can think of bitpay and coinbase. I have no idea how to invest in them though.

Any input/thoughts?

To my knowledge you cannot purchase shares of coinbase, I have never used bitpay so I can't speak to that.   So unless you are just talking about buying btc through coinbase, you will be unable to invest directly in the Coinbase company, as they are not publicly traded.

I'd love to invest in either of these companies, but I know Coinbase hasn't gone IPO, and I doubt bitpay has either.

Coinbase and Bitpay are private companies, so unless you are a VC or a prominent angel, wait for the IPO

You can watch havelock investments too, and document yourself on companies in this site, if you think that some of them are good/legit you can subscribe to that found and buy shares.

I hold some companies share on that site, but i don't want to give you advices on them, You have to read by yourself, search for infos on all the companies and create your own opinion, and based upon that you can decide to invest or not on it.

Always with the "gold" rule to "not invest more than you can loose".

Many of the well known companies are already well funded. The security board (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=78.0) is a good place to start researching. But please note that as the inflation rate of Bitcoin decreases, it will become more and more difficult to earn Bitcoins.
