Bitcoin Forum

I'm a member of a metal detectors' forum. and I have just received this email from an admin.

Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to help, but it did remind me that a forum is a community. Bitcoin Talk does have a lot of help threads in the technical section, but we could probably do more to help each other. We are entering a world where mutual help will be essential to preserve some of our lifestyle advantages, and we should remember that this is a vibrant community with a lot of talented and knowledgeable members. Lets help each other to grow into the future.

I also think that any forum should contribute to the development of friendly relations and help each other. I would be happy to help someone with my ability to work in graphics, but only if it really brings benefit to people.

Depends realy on what help is needed !

If i can help a User on the Forum with my Knowledge i will do it or try to get him some help !

Sound sentiment, JC.  Unfortunately I highly doubt I'll be in much of a position to help on this forum outside of anything I can do as a merit source or DT member, and those two things are not set in stone anyway.  More likely is that I'll be coming to the community for help related to either basic computer issues or with bitcoin problems.  

It would help if people here actually knew each other as people and not just as an avatar writing posts, but given the anonymous nature of bitcoin and bitcoiners' need for the same, I can't imagine that happening on a large scale.  Plus we're all over the globe, and that makes real-life meetups difficult.  I do like the idea of discord chatting, which I've never done, but that's still not the same thing as meeting someone for drinks or coffee or whatever.

JC, did you find that lady's keys or what?  Lots of great metsl detecting sites around where I live if you feel like taking a little plane trip.  Lol

It doesn't matter whether some of us are anonymous or have random aliases, at the end of day we are all humans and sometimes end up facing different challenges like depression. A helping and or even a sign of goodwill can change someone's life or attitude.

Sometimes I see the way certain individuals respond to other people who arr asking to be helped with some solutions to certain challenges. It really makes me wonder what kind of people they are.

Similar requests often appear at our local forum. Constantly observe how people gladly respond to them without even demanding money.

Not totally correct we got some bots in their numbers on the forum,  ;D

When it comes to help, I believe the forum is doing alright, there isn't a thread started based on help that doesn't get a respond and again if there's such thread then the TS { Thread  starters} didn't post on the right boards. Helping others is beneficial to both parties and should be encourage more as it unity us more and helps strengthen the forum.

Helping other members is not a difficult task as long as you can do something to help them, but sometimes the problem is "how they cooperate". Because in a big world like this, we won't achieve anything without helping each other or teamwork, just look what this forum achieved right now, teamwork is behind all of it. Maintaining of peace is teamwork, organising the forum? also teamwork and even reporting bunch of spammers is called teamwork. In the future, even though some people hates other people, they will just end up helping each other. But we can't disregard that some people are too abusive to those who wanted to help so we should still be so careful. Just my thoughts.

But still, I bet that those owners of those bot accounts are still feeling depressed  ;D

Stop just narrowing your mindset towards her lost key, my response was about so many other different scenarios. She of course hasn't lost meaning in life since it's just keys and i wasn't actually focusing on her loss.
I am talking about situations like when someone has lost a huge sum of hard earned money(probably life savings or something in those lines) to hackers because one did not follow obvious instructions to secure his wallet/funds and comes in here with the expereience and probably asks for help on how he can recover the money.

Much as others would try to advice appropriately, you will also observe some individauls who just go ahead to bash and blame the victim for being careless and stupid. That can only worsen one's level of depression.

Some of the forum member help us by simply forgetting this forum or leaving this forum.
May be 1 less forum member but will save us with shitposts from hundred accounts.

Hopefully, I'll finish my van conversion in a couple of months, and I can start to travel the county ( England ). I'd be up for some themed meetings. These should be primarily social, but could involve some basic concept such as -

Turning an old PC into a miner
Testing the new forum software
Discussing EMA ribbons
or some other idea.

Wetherspoons are all over the country, and they provide free WiFi and power. They also support a free and independent Britain. They could be a good location, or one could go off grid, and that could be another topic for discussion.

I browse the B&H very often and offer my help where I can. My knowledge and expertise is nowhere near some of the users I see posting regularly both in B&H but also in the bitcoin related threads, but I do my best. If I don't know the answer I try to find some older threads from this forum or google in search for similar topics. As an online community I think we are doing fine. 

The "problem" is that this forum is more technical and also I expect many members be pretty strict about their privacy.

So the help is more related to information on how to resolve various problems, and this subject is imho greatly under-used.
I mean there were questions now and then about computers and routers and then of course about anything you can imagine on mining. There were questions about installing wallets or recovering data. And .. not much more. On another hand, I'd feel odd to ask on a Bitcoin forum about gardening or plumbing.

We all understand that it is almost impossible to return the money that was stored in the cryptocurrency and was stolen by the hackers. I do not think that forum users should fulfill the duties of the service of psychological assistance, but they can well teach security when working with cryptocurrencies.

With a missing question mark (?).

I guess we can help each other if we respect each other and help disseminate knowledge within the forum. As simple as that it makes more synonymous of the word "help" throughout the forum.

Helping each other out is the definite goal. A productive forum can not be toxic, if we are all geared towards sharing useful information and knowledge.
There would always be detractors but if majority of the members are result oriented, the forum would be that much better.

I think many people got rekt at the market and need consolation. Maybe arrange a small community meeting to talk about "depression" is a good idea, more like a support group meeting. Also promoting responsible investing similar to responsible gambling would be beneficial.

I think we do have that here too. There's been several instances over the last few years where users have ran into problems, and maybe lost access to their wallets or whatever, and users have helped them out for free. There's still ways to help each other here, and it might not sound as endearing as going out, and looking for someone elses keys, but honestly the principle is the same. There's some real good guys in this community that value decency over monetary gain, despite the general consensus here that everyone is here for money. There's been users who have cracked brain wallets, and then contacted the person who owned it too (at least I think I recall something like this)

I tell you what in a few years time when we're all millionaires from our crypto investment we shall set a date, and we will attend those coffee, and drinks! Some digestives would go down quite well too. I'm not paying for drinks no matter how rich I am though :P

I "lost" a bit when I first started trading, and I just moved the Bitcoin into my long term holding. I believe that it will eventually show a profit. I'm lucky in that I don't need the money now, but I think some people have fallen into the trap of trying to trade using their daily living expenses. Those are the ones we can help with advice, and expressions of caution. To a certain extent, that is why I started my "mind of a HODLer" thread.

Sharing your knowledge is also a way of helping each forum member. Communication is the best way to learn but  we are here in the FORUM so communication is common. Posting a good and informative topic can help each other especially to newbie here and to those feeling newbie. We can also help our co-forum members by respecting them even they are only on a low rank.

Sharing everyones own knowledge based on their experience is a great way to help each others. Some can get his/her knowledge from our threads and some can gather it from our discussion too. A quality post can also help users to get the exact answer. A good discussion always discover creative ideas IMO.
