Title: Spamming by sent PM (Probably paid PM spammer)
Post by: The Cryptovator on March 05, 2019, 04:42:32 AM
Just now I have received a PM from BuySomeBitcoins (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=871198) about Experienced <> Newbie trader ? We are paying you in BTC and USD to test SIFR (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5116868.msg50020266#msg50020266). Sent messages was below.

I have used report to moderators admin button. But I post this thread because I am suspecting that many user received same messages. I mean they are spamming in PM. Most likely they are getting payment for sending PM. Otherwise I am not seeing any other reason to send me this message since I had not bothered to their project or tag someone about it. So in my opinion they are sending this message randomly to multiple users.

Have anyone received same messages?

Edit:

Profile has been Autobanned (https://bpip.org/profile.aspx?p=BuySomeBitcoins)

He also seems to be breaking a forum rule:

Forum rules
29. Sending unsolicited PMs, including but not limited to advertising and flood, is not allowed.

This is definitely a paid ad pm spam, and users is not just pm spamming but also promoting SIFR on thread as seen here http://archive.is/5sYoD. The user that sent you the pm have merited sifr.com (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5113290.0/) previously too.

PM spamming from previous ban appeal thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5113844.0/) will earn user a 7 days ban therefore you did the right thing by reporting them and other users who received such pm should user the report to admin button to provide more proof of pm spam so admin can do the needful.

It is not report to moderator, you need to use report to admin which found on the lower right corner of that message.

I can assure you that he will get 7 day band for PM spamming which happened with one of the trusted member of our member (Hhampuz) earlier a week.

I've heard from several people who have been receiving similar PMs. Just hit the "report to admin" button and he'll get banned.

Looks like the account was directly linked to SIFR. Either it was bought, was part of the team or simply someone who wanted to get a bonus by promoting them. Anyway, never receive such message before, seems like they have a list of targets with some specific criteria.

I have talked with the mod and he had me make corrections to my PayPal thread so that it is clear that the accounts are legal. Can you please remove your negative feedback as the mod said only you can do that.

Please see that in the main body of the text and as the last comment the additions are added. Thank you

Also you have your settings set so I cant PM you so had to do this. I am sorry didnt know how else to reach you

I have seen it and removed your feedback as well. Your current explanation is valid to me and you should add your thread from beginning. However for next time you should explain why accounts are not hacked on your main thread, so no one will tag you. Its necessary for your safety and easy to understand for everyone.

User can report to admin someone who is sending unsolicited PMs and that will result to a ban.
Just like the case of  Hhampuz (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5113844.msg%msg_id%) , you can find his explanation in his thread entitled Hhampuz Ban Appeal.

Though his intention was good and explained been doing it for many times already, but one report maybe resulted it to a temp ban.
Personally, I have received a lot of unsolicited PMs in the past during the times when ICO was still hot but just ignored it, I just think it's normal in this community where a lot of active people.

But in the end, it's still based on the discretion of the receiver, he can report it and let the admin evaluate the report.

He also seems to be breaking a forum rule:

Forum rules
29. Sending unsolicited PMs, including but not limited to advertising and flood, is not allowed.

If Hhampuz's intention is counted as good, there would be no use of the report to moderator option. I highly believe that this PM spam make people feel disturbed. There's a way of promoting your service, projects or whatever, I am referring to signature. Why Hhampuz do need to PM people for promoting his services? This PM spam should be moderated more strictly. Hhampuz being a old and trusted member here should not act like that.

It's actually unbelievable the amount of personal message spam that gets sent around here. Honestly, I wake up to several messages a day, and most are some sort of spam advertising a project or something. Not even from new accounts either, a lot of them are existing accounts.
