Is anyone using a modded server PSU to run with your btc or scrypt miners? I looked at the Delta DPS-1600 and 2000w version, those look perfect but only good for 240v. Is there something similar efficiency (90%+) and wattage but for 120v? Here are the two units in question:

Anyone using a server PSU, and what's your experience? I have the tools and perfectly capable of modding one myself, but just can't find a suitable one.

If you have the know-how and the time to put them together, they can be amazing. 160+A on the 12v line, 92% efficient all the way up to 125% over spec, and really cheap on ebay. The problem is that they can be a PITA to set up. Buying all the wires, PCIe plugs, heatshrink tubing, solder, and then power plugs does add up, and it takes hours to build even just one PSU. And yes, you WILL need some high quality fans to cool those suckers. We used some cheap 80mm case fans strapped up to one side, blowing through it, but it wasn't enough. We ended up buying 3x 60mm Delta fans, and now they're rock solid.

We have several of them powering the majority of our GPU farm, and then even more powering all of our Ants. In the end, it saved us several hundred USD to power our entire farm, both GPU and ASIC.

The 220v wasn't an issue for us: We brought in a new electrical sub-panel, and we loaded it up with 220v breakers, each of which run to 220v managed/switched PDUs, which then go to these DPS-2000bb, some Corsair CX430, and Rosewill Capstone 750 (modular) PSUs. The ATX PSUs are just for powering 1 or 2 cards here and there, and also for controlling the MB/CPU/RAM + risers.

Nice setup. How did you wire up the 8 pin PCI-E connecter?

hose are 3x 60mm delta fans，What is the current in amperes?

What PDU do you recommend? I want to install 3 30amp 220v circuits.

We were talking about that over at the official antminer support thread, page 169-170. Gekkoscience makes an interface for some dell server psu, and its $70 for a kit. One psu can run 2 antminers non OC.

That's the 750W model that can run 2 Ants w/o and OC. Our 2000W model runs 4 ants with as much of an OC as we can manage. We could probably run 5 Ants w/o an OC if we wanted, but we don't. ;)

Are those leads with yellow cap soldered to the blades a part that you bought?

Nope. We used a 1/4" solderless female tab crimp. Just slides right on, and holds up good.

I use the IBM x3650 to feed TWO overclocked S1s'. Now I have 24 antminers with 12 of those psus'.
No issues at all.

I buy each for less than 10$ , and made connections for each of them in less than half an hour.

I will post pictures with details later if you want.

Dont waste your money.

If i could find a good step by step guide, that would be great XD. Also, i plan on running ONLY 3 antminers, not overclocked, if that is relevant.

Mine looks a bit neater than that. I brought the power pins out to a 6 way connector block. Instead of soldering the resistors use some jumper cables ( ripped out of an old desk top). took me about 20 mins to get it up and running.  ;D

I'm finalizing the PCB design for a DPS-2000BB interface board this week, and hopefully next week we'll be stress-testing some quick-turn boards to make sure they're good for 200A. Should have a DPS-800GBA board as well, for folks that might be retiring their Blade backplanes and want to run 3 Ants off that power instead.
