Title: STOP FOLLOWING BITCOIN WITH SENTIMENTS!
Post by: kooboat on March 28, 2019, 01:39:01 PM
It has become increasingly unpredictable to know what would happen on the crypto market at any point in time. It is good to hodl some bitcoins though but it is equally important to note that the price of bitcoin is largely depended on few individuals who have the power to manipulate the market. Most analysis that are made on bitcoin are just made with mere sentiments and nothing else. Cryptocurrencies has always been a suitable venture for smart people but if care is not taken you may end up being misled by so called experts on the crypto market. It is good to invest your funds in bitcoin but don't fully trust crypto analysts without doing your own background research by reading wide.

That's why we need to research before we invest. Most people don't research what it needs and they only follow what other people suggest. But suddenly, they are losing money because of their mistake. That can be prevented if we can analyze from the other people suggestion so we can decide what we need to do. Don't accept 100% from other people prediction and always research the current situations, so you don't make a mistake.

This method applies for any investment asset and not just to bitcoin. Own research and listening to your own thought is very very important when it comes to any type of investment.

However,  I don't agree to that part of the statement where you have said "the price of bitcoin is largely depended on few individuals who have the power to manipulate the market." Definitely there are whales in the market who owns large amounts of bitcoins using which they can create fake demand or supply to manipulate the price. But are they really doing so??

I remember reading a chainanalysis blog post few months back where they have analyzed the bitcoin usage trend of the most wealthiest whales and proved that they are accumulating bitcoins in small quantities and not really manipulating the market. Read it from the below link,

I hope this research paper will clear some of your misconceptions about whales!

* It is good to hodl some bitcoins
* the price of bitcoin is largely depended on few individuals who have the power to manipulate the market.

you do realize that these two statements that you made here are in exact contradiction to each other, right?
if you truly believe that bitcoin price largely depends on manipulators who according to you control the market then you should NOT buy bitcoin at all. you should always stay away from anything that is manipulated in that level.

of course what you are saying is pure nonsense because you are exaggerating the level of manipulation that bitcoin has, possibly because you have heard something somewhere which is now repeating it here.

Assuming you were referring to prices and the markets in general, then it's debatable. There's nothing wrong with following bitcoin itself, both the technical aspects and the markets, and watching the price movements. The problem arises when you start listening to these so called "market experts" or "market analysts" that make bold price predictions.

With the growing number of 'experts' on the playing field giving predictions and analysis to unknowing people and newbies (with some asking for subscription fees, lol), it really is alarming and worrying that some people are still diving head-first on waters they can't fathom how deep. Many are still just following the herd without prior research on what they are going to run into, resulting in disappointments and lost of funds that could have been used into something even more important. Bitcoin is an excellent investing, and with that comes excellent con-artists and deceivers who will loot unknowing beginners and newbies off of their money by selling predictions that won't really work.

Smart people will not rely on anyone to do the analysis of the current market for them.

So is with wise investors. If you are one who relies on others to do it for you, then you are in big trouble. Most of them who claimed experts on bitcoin and cryptocurrency and the market do these to bait others in doing what they want to happen. Then they could easily control the price and benefit from it.

I will say smart people might converted their bitcoin to USDT in the time of peak and now they are enjoying with the funds. I knew few people was hodling bitcoin for long term since 2014 and made the good idea at the time of peak value.
Now they are enjoying and doing the world tour without any upset or problems.

May be next bull run i will do that and enjoy coming days.

True but the problem with some people is they know what to do, they know the truth and they are wise but, the moment they hear rumors they are easily carried away and they forget the right thing to do. Either they rejoice and are excited too quickly with an unverified news they heard or wail quickly as they hear unverified bad news. Funny but I think it is an instinct in every individual.

I think 2018 was a reason for us to not have full trust in predictions who made by an expert. How many expert who says bitcoin will have a high price more than 2017? But the fact was not, the price bitcoin fall deeply and made a huge lost who felt by investor. And now, if there is someone who still believe to an expert says I don't think he will has a quietness in his life. Different with someone who made a research by his own self, I'm sure he will knows what should he do in this current situation and he will knows when he should hold or sell.

As an investor, you wont really able to avoid these kind of analysis came from other sources or even to popular people on the net specially into this crypto field.
If you are smart enough you can able to utilize those news or fundamentals to be part of your investment strategy. You can either apply or just simply ignore
depending on your own discretion.

Holding is good for long term investment and at that you just buy and hold for a certain period of time and decides to sell in future when the price have appreciated, bit if you are a passive trader in this current market which is full of manipulation you need to follow the trend of the market as it frequently being manipulated by the big players in the bitcoin market.

I agree. The market that we are watching on the charts is manipulated but most whales trade OTC. If the news are true only a very little coins is traded on the exchanges and it's always the same coins bought and sold over and over. One thing that influences the charts is the miners selling because most of them do it on exchanges. The other is people who bought years ago and got tired of waiting or have things to buy. Rich people are buying.

Most of these so called experts follow the improved fundamentals, link it to what happened in 2017 and based on that assume that the price should be higher, or at least just as high as the 2017 peak. Tom Lee is the perfect example of how someone who totally rekt himself by making stupid predictions and market analysis.

Following the trend is super important. I get it that people preferred to wait in 2018 before selling, just to see whether or not it bounces back up, but there were so many signals that pointed at a bear market, that you should have sold somewhere above the $10,000 level. I personally didn't take any profits between $6000-$7000 but that's because I had too much faith in the strong support around $6000, which is my fault.

People seem to dislike TA, but it has been a solid guide so far. I should have taken it more serious sooner.

Bitcoin shouldn't be followed by sentiment. Some people here in this community trust bitcoin and they know that this is just the beginning of this technology, so they still believe in bitcoin and invest in it, like I do, and there are other people who afraid when they see this huge volatility of price in the market, so mostly they quite the crypto world because they find it so risky. Everyone is free to quite or to be a strong believe in the crypto, more especially bitcoin. Personally, I get a huge profit from bitcoin and I know how the market goes and I'm still in profit even when bitcoin decrease to 2k$.

this is where most people failed to do - the basic things that will aid them in understanding the market. people are lazy to do their own research, so they just rely from someone else's predictions. this should not be the case. since it is your money at risk, you should be the only one responsible on how you decide on things. those speculations and predictions are your guide but you should not be reliant on those things.

I believe there are some groups out there who do make these misleading news that most newbies would probably believe them. But once we do our own research and understand the fundamentals. We will make our own statements based on the fundamental analysis that we've been researching. But never follow a sentiments.

There is no market that doesn't have manipulation, whether it's apparent (as 'experts' claim cryptocurrencies' is) or sneakily running in the background. However, I do agree with this. How many 'Big Flash Bad News' pieces and articles from cryptocurrencies media that state some whale has moved a big amount of coins to an exchange which warrants fear of a dump? Then it turns out that the exchange itself is just changing wallets/addresses (happened with Binance not so long ago).

Everyone has a target/threshold that when Btc will reach it, the sell will come. And that's because everyone is here for money, not for sentiments:)

I do not think it is sentiment, but rather optimism and hope that the price will recover to the ATH where it was before. The previous ATH has placed a benchmark for people to achieve that price again and with the price being more than 80% lower, people might be over optimistic about the recover potential of this investment.

Take every small increase in the price as a big bonus and not as something that must happen in the future and you will be fine.  ;)

Yes, the previous price increase taking it close to $20000 has got turned to be the benchmark and people live on the same sentiment without understanding the true market. Even now there is regular growth after small swings between time which can be considered good for a long term gradual growth.

Cryptocurrency has no physical intrinsic value so sentiments is the main bitcoin price driver. Bitcoin price will rise if people expect that bitcoin has good future and increasing demand. Although whales also has power to manipulate it but those whales also see the sentiments, we only interested in safe investment, honestly I will not invest in something which is uncertain. If there is good sentiments for bitcoin then I will buy but if not then I will sell, I think it is logic decision.

Most people misjudge bitcoin. They only see a moment's profit, without learning more risk in it. When playing investment in the wrong way, it will hurt yourself and make the value of bitcoin worse in the eyes of many people.

And that is one fatal mistaken on their end, specially if they think that the price of Bitcoin could go on parabolic rise. How many noobs investors who got burned when they FOMO and irrationally buying bitcoin at the top price in 2017?

I don't trust these experts 100% percent logic tell us to be realistic, if you follow these so-called experts like John Mcafee you will end up losing imagine that he predicted that Bitcoin will worth $1 million at the end of this year, now is this realistic, if you believe that you will end up selling everything you have.

It's because there are no so called experts here. They are just like you and me in this market, a speculator and just go and make predictions based on news and the market sentiments. John McAfee is more of a influencer, and other who is perma-bull is obviously either have companies who worked with clientele of investors or just have a huge investments on bitcoin that's why they keep preaching the same thing over and over again.

I agree, these analyst just guess what will happen next.  Their statement is too universal that it will bound to happen on the long run but when is unsure.  They provide us with charts, take some part and analyze it according to their understanding and yet, it may go either way.  It has been proven, and most of us witnessed that many so called famous analyst failed to predict the next event in that certain period of time.  We can use their prediction as reference and decide things ourselves.  Besides, there is always more than one point of view regarding the market and it is best if we consider these things.

It's wisdom to invest into bitcoin especially now that the price is very low but it's common sense to hold pending when market recovers instead of following the trend and selling at a miserable price.
Know when to enter ,when to hold and when to sell...this is what makes all the difference in Cryptocurrency.

It isn't about the scams or the exchange that you use but it's about the person that you follow when it regards to the market trends. There are 'analysts' who have been making predictions that everyone follows before.

A piece of advice. Do not relay on other's opinion or point of view. You can do your own reseach of experinent to know the answer of your questions. Because no one can predict or guess what will happened next here in bitcoin industry espicially in predicting or guessing the bitcoin's price. And I think no one is expert i  bitcoin industry.
Exact as what I'm saying, don't rely with others opinion. It's good if you will take those important notes but don't fully rely on them that includes your decision making with whatever the status of the market.

They are rich which means they can buy more coins therfor following what they say is a good idea because if they say that the price will going to pump , they also do something to make it happen  . while other regular individuals that loves to speculate and make predictions are likely going to fail because they cannot back their claims   .  bitcoin is about sentiments so why stop follwing sentiments when sentiments is the main reason about the price change ?

Being rich is meaningless unless you're a market mover on one or more Bitcoin exchanges.

Mike Novogratz is the perfect example of how being rich doesn't yield you anything when you have no clue about how irrational this space really is. He is a perma bull who got rekt hard, personally and professionally. Imagine how many institutions invested just because this fly-by guru told them that this market would explode in 2018.

Tom Lee is also a multi millionaire, yet his predictions were all shit. I'm not sure if he actually invests in Bitcoin, but if he did, he is rekt too.

One thing these so called experts and gurus have in common is that they only speculate and not build to make this space a better and more useful place. Parasites they are. Fuck them. Enjoy your expensive bags.

I believe following market sentiments without reasoning or asking questions is the recipe for getting rekt in cryptocurrency market.
In as much as I believe that there are good analyst who are well versed in cryptocurrency price prediction.
One should also be cautious in following .
This is because of the volatile nature of cryptocurrency that seems to make a mess of  prediction.

In most cases  those experts are not that rich and they are just analyzing the markets. This is how it works in traditional markets: on some business TV channel you see an analyst that is talking different shit about the stock market, backing his words with tech analysis and sentiment analysis. You don't have to be a billionaire or a genius to do those things and generaly would be right. But market is unpredictable and you can never be sure that you are right. Actually, every decent investor would tell you to listen to such overviews but always do your own research.
The same thing is happening in crypto but crypto market is less mature and unpredictable investor behaviour can easily screw all your analysis.

100% investment in any asset is not treated as a wise decision, its hard to predict any financial market as almost all the financial markets have manipulators to manipulate it. Its  always recommended to take any investment decision after a proper research of the market/product and only the amount should be invested which one can afford to lose. Rest market sentiments also play a vital role in movement of any financial market so do not find it wrong to invest in Bitcoin as per market sentiments, one can miss a good profit by not investing in any asset at the right time.

Just enough if someone want to invest or do trading for theirs daily activity they should know about the theory. I meant theory of investing in bitcoin such as some factors which will make bitcoin has a function in the future and make the price high than he bought before. And if he will do trading he should knows some analyst such as fundamental and technical, those factors are enough to be theirs self without show an interest to what other people says. However, if there is someone who has an interest and even lean on his investment or his trade to other people then we will see how miserable he is cause he doesn't has identity to make him survive.

The cryptocurrency market is a market which usually deviates from the way we expect it to and as such it should be considered as a game of chance.  Today its like this, tomorrow its the other way round. It is no place for people with emotions. Patience together with perseverance will help better than sentiments.

Fully agree with you and i have been one the dark side as well trusting others to backup some unacknowledged informations.

Sometimes you wil also need to feel how high your stakes are in terms of some investment you wish / want to make in some specific time / moment / occasion.

Take for example the last night's price surge. You should know if you do invested in time you would win such big profits. And eventually you can end up being sad as you have lost a good profit.
But then you sit and think what can you do to improve your investments.

Other times when investing there are some people who rather prefer to manipulate newbies thinkings by telling them to BUY immediatly some so the price goes up for their own profits (the manipulators ofc).

Newcomes need to stay active but alert and get informed of everything thats going on around them.

I completely agree even i created one thread about exiting from market . Investing on market required lots of Analysis , Research as well as background verification . Same applies for Exiting from Market . Crypto Market is highly volatile . We cant predict the profit margin It may 100 times or 1000 times profit or loss . But better we should start to put profit margin and Stop loss while trading.

This goes for any asset, manipulation via marketing and game theory is present in any market. People should always research the fundamentals and try to understand the thing they are investing in.
As an additional, we should look also for the technical analysis of each coin we are holding.. Its better if we learn all the basic knowedge and informations in regards of trading cryptocurrency.. This will help us to protect and gain more profits with our investments.. Aside from that, if we have enough knowledge with this matter we have a control with our emotions.. We can go with the flow... Just dont let your emotions overcome your intelligence..

I'd say that's half true, considering a single order on Tuesday refreshed traders and ushers in a new buying spree. But if I may ask, if we don't follow bitcoin with sentiments what are we to do? We aren't '0's and '1's you know.

The only sentimental we should have is making money. Even the most excited holders will sooner or later liquidate their Btc agains the correct price.

So, we should focus more on our target and do our best to reach it.

Sentiments are always part of our human behavior as individuals who fear the uncertainties. I would suggest not to avoid these but try to educate oneself so that sentiments might be used positively. Ignorance of what is going on makes you bad at decisions making process. Educating oneself will help it.

You can just read an article and believe in that right away. This is why there is so called "researching" which you can gather facts about it. Bitcoin is really unpredictable and we dont know when the manipulators start running it again. One thing is just for sure. Buy coins and take it with you together with a lot of patience.

I think that's pretty obvious, market sentiments can change in a couple of minutes anyway, you should be the one that is careful about what your money goes into and you should have stop-loss on every single trade you make to make sure you won't take much of a loss if the price doesn't go where you thought it would, in other words you should have a plan B for your trades all the time when/if market goes against you.

I think it should be basic knowledge to keep yourself detached while you're in an active trade. Just stick to your plan because you're more in control when you made that. I agree that you should have a plan b or contingencies as well but bottomline is, have a clear target.

woooowww, you almost read my mind  ;D  just made a post exactly about this... the chart gurus are just doing the market makers bidding (some might know it, but I believe that a part of them doesn't even realise it), and the market makers keep on filling their pockets...
People just had a great example about it... every expert was saying that BTC was going down, people shorted and boom... everyone lost their money... for the market makers pockets...
Not saying that it is not important to look at the charts, but do your own analysis... if you are not an expert, the same can be told of the majority of so called "experts"... better a rude analysis made by yourself...

Crypto analysts do give a lot of divergent views of the market that can cause confusion to the trader as you rightly said  a lot of sentimental decisions on bitcoin are mere statements which doesn't hold water, a hodler or trader should just do his research diligently so as to know when to buy and when to sell thus making profits consistently of course it is not an easy task all these requires acquiring adequate knowledge on cryptos so as to have an edge over the market.

Sentiment is just a emotional regard or opinion. When one make an investment surely he has the belief that bitcoin will grow high. This can either considered hope on bitcoin's growth, emotional opinion or the positive attitude. With this someway people have some attachment to bitcoin with sentiment which is common and that can't be excluded.

They are always trying to predict when the price of bitcoin will pump high so they can cash out big and then to read all kinds of stuffs online to match what they expect about bitcoin. we should just buy and hold our bitcoins instead of always trying to predict bitcoin price every now and then.

People in general are emotional, they follow the sentiment, when it's bullish they are also bullish, that's why the smart investors
can easily manipulate the market to create more FOMO and bitcoin will be sometimes overbought, when that happened there will be some correction that will happen, and instead of relaxing, they do panic because they thought the market will die, then smart people buy the cheap coin again.

What you just put down here is the bitter truth, so many of us investors are just restless trying to predict the price of bitcoin everynow and then as we are so eager to get the profit we so much expect for the money we have invested. But then, we forget right from time, bitcoin price is unpredictable. Its something one should invest in and keep his or her mind relaxed and wait for the market to move in whatever direction it wants to move. Attaching sentiments to bitcoin will only cause us disappointment when price doesnt move the way we expect it to go.

In my experience, i think so many bitcoin investors are guilty of this, always watching out for bitcoin price and trying to predict in what direction the price will go every now and then. Some even go as far as studying charts trying to make analysis but then we all know bitcoin price is unpredictable. No one can tell which direction it will take at any given time. So its best you just invest and relax your mind and let events unfold on its own.

It's like a nature for us to consider what other says but we still need to study and research on our own and not only based our actions on what other says. And don't give your full trust even on the experts because just like us, we're all just speculating what will happen in the crypto market.

Stay with whatever that works well for you.

Leveraging sentiment data for investment signals is not a new practice, especially among professional traders, but little evidence is currently available as to its efficacy within the crypto market.

One investor recently set out to prove that a sentiment-driven approach can be profitable when trading Bitcoin (BTC). In a recent post on Hacker Noon, Marc Howard showed that using daily exchange price data and Google Trends keyword sentiment yielded a 29% over 90 days for a $28,839 profit.

With his approach, Howard researched the Google trend data for “BTC USD” and “Buy Bitcoin” over a 90-day period and found a notable pattern.

Our full support is a big help for crypto to stay longer and build a strong market platform.  Yes,  it can be influential to future and it could only be happening if we all are with crypto.

Yes. The crypto community could be very helpful to us investors but we should also do our part to make a wide research on the coins we want to invest and not just simply relying on others all the time. Of course we will not grow in this community and will not be profitable just like other investors if we cannot stand on our own feet.

In my opinion, the only left who can manipulate the price of bitcoin are the banks and the biased paid media that drops a lot of FUD to bring down the price. But in the growth of btc, it comes natural because whenever there is good news, it does not come with a pump. So people are only following negative sentiments because when btc reach $5k, they still don't believe that the bear period is over.

True enough that we shouldn't buy and sell based on what the self-proclaimed crypto experts say. The truth of the matter is, there is no such thing as expert in crypto. Crypto thing is highly unpredictable, and all these people do is manipulate others to feed their self-vested interests. It's not bad to listen to their opinions, positions and estimations, but at the end of the day, we should be the one to decide what to do, whether to buy or to sell off and what to buy and to sell, so that we'll have little or no regrets. It's much regretful to fail because you listen to others than to fail because you trust your own judgement.

But a good advise to newbie is to really do your own research (DYOR). You can't just rely on someone else opinion and just make a decision on that.

When I was just a beginner, I just read all the news I can find in crypto related websites, but I soon realized that they are just garbage and almost articles are released without any validation from the source.

Following Bitcoins with ones sentiments can be hurtful especially when there are periods of bear market conditions. Bitcoin and entire crypto investment is not a get rich quick scheme hence it requires patience from all investors to wait and hold till the prices go up again. This is the more reason why especially newbie investors are urged to invest amount they can afford to lose in order not to follow their investment with their sentiments.

Stop trusting experts it will make you analyze the market yourself with the method your used, some techniques you have to learn and market manipulation is very much but don't focus on that. Sometimes experts think very hard about the method he uses so don't corner it too, market is formed for those of us who want to exchange assets and not be formed just to manipulate them.
Good point, you can look at that as basis but never to center all your options from their own interpretations, market is for everyone, trust your own observations and assessments, things is much wider than what you think it is, there's always positive results when you are optimistic and believers
of you own instinct, don't be move by emotions but by the patterned that you've created on your own.
