Title: [Suggestion]Number of deleted posts in a thread.
Post by: TheBeardedBaby on April 14, 2019, 05:57:15 PM
It will be really useful if we get a some extra information like number of deleted posts in a thread.
I thought also to add the number of banned users but I guess it won't be implemented,
It can be placed next to the view count info  - (Read 2625 times) (xxx deleted posts)

Same can  be applied for the self-moderated threads as well.
What you guys think??

This can very easily be manipulated, so the number doesn't mean anything.

It's a good idea, i think it could be useful in identifying threads where bumping services have been used before and later on the posts of the bumpers are deleted  especially in the altcoin boards though I don't know how this would work with members who keep deleting their bumps.

It could quite cause some confusion and defeat the purpose of the implementation.

For self-moderated threads we already have that, unless what you are proposing is a bit different?

Would all deleted posts be counted in the overall statistics?
- When OP deletes his own post.
- When mods delete a post.
- When any user deletes his own post.

Then what? After identifying those post what will be the used, report them to be locked or what.

Sorry OP I don't get the usefulness of the suggestion clear me please, what'll be the usefulness of the stats although it can be easily manipulated just like others have said.

instead of the number of deleted posts, how about the number of unique posters?
it would be quite informative to see how many users involved in that discussion thread

Of course, it could help members know shady ANNs esp in the Altcoin section. That's what i was implying with my first point.

Are there any non-shady ANN topics posted in the past year? :D  Anyway, you don't need stats to see projects which employ bumping services, if that's what you are looking for.

As Pmalek already said, stats are present for self-mod topics:

I don't see how some additional data could hurt anyone.

This can very easily be manipulated, so the number doesn't mean anything.
Which type of manipulation you mentioned?
I thought that the new figure on total deleted posts make sense, because, at somewhat extents, it help us to know the level of spamming in each thread.
However, I think that we should move further than that. If such figure implemented, I suggest to separate it into two parts:
- One part is the figure of total delete posts in each thread, including posts deleted by OP, mods, users themselves.
- Second part is the figure of total delete posts in each thread by OP.
Almost the same ideas there:
For self-moderated threads we already have that, unless what you are proposing is a bit different?

Would all deleted posts be counted in the overall statistics?
- When OP deletes his own post.
- When mods delete a post.
- When any user deletes his own post.
But if it is implemented, it should be a additional statistics, that can be viewed if users want to get them, via drop-down list.

Manipulated in terms of what? Count should only show number of posts deleted by mods and not by posters.

Ok, Even the number is not manipulated but what information you will get from it.

Post can be deleted if somebody spamming/posting off topic in thread.(overall thread is good discussion.)
Post can be deleted if some posting rule broken (referral link, multi posting by some one. (overall thread is good discussion.)
No post is deleted because everybody repeating same generic words (without breaking any rule.) (No value added in discussion.)

Now, I do not know what I will do with these numbers? (Anyway any stats is good but still what I can infer?)

Of course it will mostly be used in the alts ANN section. Can be implemented in other section too if needed.

True, but again this will be only informational, like now you can sort threads by view count, it will be nice to arrange them based on deleted posts by mods. I don't think that anyone will try to manipulate the counts.

I want to see for example this thread >

Actually, this can be easily implemented in BPIP.
