Title: The user has any hidden agenda?
Post by: AB de Royse777 on April 15, 2019, 01:07:11 PM
I was browsing the Development & Technical Discussion section then I saw a topic response.
What's your point of view on crypto wallet?
My point of view is storing wallet.dat on the Internet.
My wallet is here: http://www.ic.unicamp.br/~stolfi/realwork/EXPORT/projects/bitcoin/amaclin/
You may use it, if something is wrong with your wallet.
Warning: Please do not click the link. It may have malware.

The user registered here from 2013 but saying something so stupid that it's not acceptable. Also he has given a link upfront (kind of psychologically establish a hidden trust that have mine first it's not a big deal) saying that it's his wallet and finally suggesting people to use it (by use it, I think he is meaning to upload your wallet.dat file). Everything looks very suspicious to me (targeting innocent new coiners). I do not think the user is ignorant rather he is trying to achieve something else.

I left a response for him here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5132066.msg50613870#msg50613870) however I am wondering about community feedback.

Cheers :-)

Edit: The mods deleted the post so if you are looking for the post then you will not see it. Anyway, here is the user's profile link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=189449

He is a scammer. If I am correct I think this is the user: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=197593 .

IIRC I think he was involved in stealing funds from brainwallet addresses. He has a good technical knowledge but chooses it to use it for his own to steal funds.

That's absolutely a scam attempt, and I've tagged him accordingly.

He's also got some negative feedback from a few years ago, so I think this member is a pure scammer.  Hopefully no one would be stupid (or ignorant) enough to actually upload their wallet data to some website.  Good catch, OP.

Reported post for posting suspicious link, hope moderators will handle it.

Nice catch OP. But noticed trust rating isn't visible on Development & Technical Discussion board. I think there shouldn't hide trust rating since people's posting suspicious/phishing links.

Added one more tag by the way.

Yup, it's him. He has at least one more alt account amaclin1 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1072601), from which the exact same link (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4455312.msg40219005#msg40219005) was posted last year.

Gonna report that message right away.

Well I just noticed the mod deleted his post with my response too. This removed the evidence so I had to edit my OP here to add the users profile link.

If I am correct I think this is the user: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=197593

I have no idea about this user. Where did he come from?

Good catch, OP.
Happy to serve the community. Pleasure is mine.

Cheers :-)

That's true lol He should have been banned from bitcointalk a long time ago but anyway, someone as smart as him would get famous again with a different user-name. As much I hate his intentions on bitcointalk, I like how he mentions this

With Great power comes great responsibility my child...... ;)
Not in bitcoin world. Responsibility for whom? I do not know you. You do not know me.
There is no third party who can punish me, because I am wrong and you are right.

Meaning you gotta take care of your own shit because the world out there is ruthless.

Interesting trick.

This user amaclin seems knowledgeable and creative thinker. Only if he could use it for good cause. People waste too much time in short-cuts.

Not a very good manner.

Thanks eddie13 for the link.

It's him. Here he himself wrote that this is his alternative account.

This seems to be true, and unfortunately this member continues to post in the local board because trust does not appear in that section.
Can anyone translate what is written in that board?

Edit: The mods deleted the post so if you are looking for the post then you will not see it. Anyway, here is the user's profile link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=189449

Why mods did not ban "permabanned" that account? ---->  If it was a "phishing/malware" links, he must be banned, or was it due to spam? ???

I see the last post he made on the same day I posted this topic. His post history archived http://archive.is/xIFd3 (last post on the 15th)
So not sure if he is banned or not.

I think according to the rules it's not ban worthy, I mean I can not find anything that can ban him.

6. The warning must be obvious. For example: "MalwareSite.com <------ CAUTION. This is site contains malware - do NOT click". A valid reason would be if your Bitcoin wallet was hacked and you feel a file you downloaded is to blame.

I am far away from my PC, where 'amaclin1' account is set.
So, I am writing posts from another account nowadays from my tablet.
'amaclin' account was stolen long time ago.

This is not a malware. :))))))))))))
This is just a wallet.dat file :)))))))
Why are you so afraid and so stupid?

[...] and so stupid?

Oh yeah.. storing wallet.dat file on internet seems like an idea coming from a person with brilliant brain right?

Doesn't matters unless you have proof that account was stolen.
