So I just finished my last year of pharmacy school classes and have more free time now. As a result, I decided to start this project "Crypto for the homeless" mainly because I always wanted to get involved with something involving crypto (other than hodling). I also feel strongly compassionate for the homeless because of personal ties to loved ones who experienced it. Anyways, I went out twice so far and handed out some meals. Planning on going out again tomorrow - I was thinking of using a flyer this time with some QR codes and the url for the site to maybe help gain exposure. Raising funds for the benefits of others who really needs a help is very interesting. I've been wondering also on how I can do this kind of action.
I really love helping others especially those people that really needs our help so they can at least start to believe that world is not that one sided.

Really good job mate but I prefer giving them free education more than donating money or anything. education is necessary for survival in life. if they are educated enough they can make better decisions and so they can develop themselves.

Indeed, if we will have more and more people doing charitable actions using cryptocurrencies then maybe we can counteract the bad image some people may have on this industry due to many scams and failures the market experienced so far. Nice concept you have here helping the homeless but on what aspect are you using the found to Carter for the homeless children school fees or general donations for the welfare of the homeless entirely. I know CZ the CEO of binance have similar foundation which is term the binance charity found this found go to children's and orphans in the poor region of Africa and other poor part of the world.

Most of them didn't succeed because their main motive is really for their own gain. They are just using the name of charity or any of that sort to acquire money. Projects that created their own coin and saying they will dedicate for charity works, are not really doing their promises. So better stay low profile just like this and a lil bit of help is more than enough.

This is for real - just for a second look at all of the homeless people that have been helped. I believe by spreading this idea through my project, I am not only helping the homeless but also the people who decide to help out as well. This for sure was a reminder to appreciate and cherish life - and also to help out those in need just for no reason at all.

Your idea is really great. It's a really good job, we're just running behind the money but never thought of helpless people. As people, we all have some social responsibilities and we should follow them. Your initiative is definitely a good job for the helpless people.

I was also thinking about that kind of idea, wherein you teach them basics and help them find a job. I saw one blogger did this, he overhauled the homeless guys looks and find him a job, it was a waiting job and he is very happy. I think they could make it by themselves only if we give them a chance. All in all kudos, this was touch in anyways, even though for just one day they could fill their bellies and skip hunger for the meantime.

It is very rare to see individuals helping others in their basic needs. It is such a wonderful sight seeing the good deeds. I somehow inspired to do the same thing as to promote humanity especially in our locals.

It is not easy life for the unfortunate people so even just one day letting them feel good then is something extraordinary for them.

However, there are some group of people doing this also to get more support by asking donations and then taking advantage by keeping the money donated from the people. So, if ever one may going to donate oemne should know if the charity for example.is legit and registered.

A lot of people use their money for their own personal gains, but if you use yours to help provide shelter for the homeless, then your blessings are countless. Let us all learn from this person and also use our funds to help those who are not well endowed too.

As a recommendation to get more support for this project you could create a YouTube channel and film yourself while buying this food or something else then give it to the homeless people. Besides the fact that more people will see what you are doing and donate more money you could also earn money from monetization of your videos.

I think it is better to have a place and spread it out for the homeless,
In that way the homeless would just come to the place to eat just like a shelter .
It is much more easier since the homeless would be the one to go and for sure they would spread the word and you could help more.

This seems like a nice personal project, but it seems to me that it has very little effect on the real life of the individuals. When I read the title of this thread I imagined a project whose purpose was to support an association aimed at mitigating the problem through education, temporary homes or shelters, and although giving a sandwich to a homeless person seems a charitable gesture, this same person will be hungry tomorrow.

But thanks for giving us an example of how much we can do with some will and resources, I think this world would be much better if we stop thinking only about ourselves.  :)

An ICO doesn't have to be about making money it can be about charity. Personally, I don't see why you can't do both. It's good to have ambition. It doesn't have to be this massive huge grand project it can be like a mini ICO or something. I really think it's something worthwhile. It might be nice to one day see things like crypto for rubbish. So clean the environment and get paid in crypto, this is at least some income and honestly I like seeing a clean city and someone has to do it those streets don't clean themselves. With crypto a whole world of possibility. We not just there yet though. If you truly want to help the homeless, just give them cash so they actually have options to use the money the best way that they need.  Just giving them some shitty fast food will barely help them you self righteous nut.

actually the cash would not help them out especially if they are suffering from addiction. They may even be bad at managing money, there are a lot of reasons homelessness happens. But the food is immediate help for an immediate need.

Homeless need, food, water and shelter(a home/clothes), not money or bitcoin. They will spend that money on drugs or booze more than likely, that is what they do with there welfare and it is why they are homeless in the first place, here in Canada we give homeless enough to get a shitty apartment and food water and shelter for the month if they are not buying drugs or smokes.

OW = 300$ a month for food, that is 10$ a day, and they cover your rent up to like 800 or something.
ODSP = even more by a lot. 1000-2000$ a month and 1500 for apartment.
The people on ODSP live better than most of the working class and 90% of them are milking the shit, most not even born in Canada and most have nothing wrong with them, doctors make money by proscribing shit to people that do not even need it, they are like fucking cops who have to make quota. I know it is the same in Sweden, fuck off don`t give these people btc or cash.

All those homeless you see out there are on either OW or ODSP, there is a few nuts that are just nuts and don`t know they can get free help. I understand not every country is like Canada or Sweden, but I am pretty sure USA has a similar system.

Some of these Immigrants get more than people like me who have fed millions upon million in there nation, or war vets who protect us, or teachers. I GET NOTHING.

INFACT, I PAY FOR THESE FUCKING PEOPLE, I walk around a lot at night here in Toronto, I know 3 out of 100 homeless people are actually homeless and if they managed their money better, they wouldn't be.
I been homeless and I never took any government $cam, I lived in the woods for a year.

I have gotten $2000 from my government tops, and have gave them $200,000 and will be giving them over $500,000 and my entire life span working for that fiat bullshit. So I can feed fucktards who do not deserve another breath on this planet.

It's good yo know that there are people like you that is helping homeless people in your country and not just aiming to profit on crypto. It's better to give than to received and we must share our blessings to others especially the poor ones, you will be blessed by GOD because of what you're doing and hope you continue your noble cause.

Raising funds for the people who really need help is amazing. I hope you will get a lot amount as a fund for the project to help the needy. Not only the homeless peoples can be helped but also the one who is in need in any way either any medical or food or more. Hope to join hands to help those.

I wonder how homeless people can reach Cryptocurrency when they cannot access the internet? You don't have the money to own a smartphone that prevents you from accessing the internet and Crypto. Using Crypto to donate to good homeless people is a bad idea.

I agree, its is a very nice sight to see knowing that someone is lending their hand to the homeless and very rare too. This is a good way as well to let other people know that crypto isn’t full of crap, this is just one good way that crypto can provide to us using it and to other people as well. On the other note, I also agree that some group may not be legit and they just using the homeless to get money from people and it’s just sad to know that while others are really doing their best to help the needy yet others are using this excuse to get money and not really help.

You are a good samaritan brother! Well, in my opinion cryptocurrency can help easily and fastly to the homeless people. Because of digital currency that circulates worldwide, the help that they need can come as fast as a light. Imagine from USA to Russia, your helping hand will pass probably in a just minute. What do I tell? I want to say that crypto is really useful.

I updated the first post with the recent outing - bought a whole box of cereal and gallon of water - cheap and practical!

Went out again today, got 4 people this time and I remembered to include bottle water. Philly pretzel factory.

I found a homeless couple living under a bridge - the first time I've seen this. They had their own tent but the conditions seemed pretty harsh. Hopefully this made their day a little better.

You're a very kind man. Not everyone can do that. Helping others is very good. I will also try to spread this around so that as many people as possible know about it.

I learned about cryptocurrency at the beginning of 2016, but until then I was skeptical about the cryptocurrency market in general.  But since then I have used the chance given to me to improve the financial condition of my family.  In any case, I can not say that I became richer, but nevertheless I managed to buy property for a solo family.  I believe that the cryptocurrency market gives many chances for people who need help.  Based on this, I believe that not only in our interests, but also in our duties, precisely in human terms, to disseminate positive information about cryptocurrency in society.

This is nice but if I was homeless I would much rather just receive money then I could spend the money on things I most needed.  Despite what you might think not every homeless person is addicted to drugs and alcohol.

This is a very nice movement from you to the entire crypto community, regardless of we spreading the awareness of cryptocurrency we should also consider doing a give back program to our various communities. Because it's only those that gives that will surely receive back, not to mention there are several rich dudes beyond the crypto sector which name are known for globally that also gives alms to charity organisations and I must say you're doing a good thing mate.

I see the valuable purpose of cryptocurrency with this. Generosity is a universal language. Regardless of what medium you will use as long as the objective is to help people. That is an overwhelming example. Just hope that this is inspire us.

I've seen a similar post recently and I never thought that his project had reached so far. This is a great way to help, it only shows that cryptocurrency can be used in many ways, it's great that other people are sharing their blessings and helping other people by giving them food thru cryptocurrency. I hope to see more projects similar to this one in the future as cryptocurrency emerges.

But sometimes, you cannot avoid thinking that some of the community that will see your topic here will give negative feedback, because there are lot of people who made this like yours. What an amazing project you have mate, I have been doing the same for a couple months now but instead of homeless I have been helping the Nature (specially the endangered species).. I know how amazed you may feel while you are able to be out doing it and how much you have been learning from these people, that's an experience we can't describe at all.
Please keep up this amazing job. If at least 1% of our world population would be doing the same as we do the world would be a better place for everyone.

in what country you are residing ? btw ,  you dont need to wait for your country to accept cryptos  because you can still help the poor by sending your coins to the online charities  .

 there are also a thread on the service section were they are asking for any amount and that collected amount will soon be donated on their chosen charity  .

this is a good way to use our cryptos but we must not only do it on cryptos because we can also donate using a regular currency and other payment methods that is more acceptable on our place  .

Consider it one of the best spheres to spend crypto.

I also admire these people who are always ready to help the poor or homeless. It is great job and work in our world, and he is doing with bitcoin that's why it is unique for us, but mostly people do it in reality like you could help the poor, see them around yourself.

This is indeed a great idea and more grease to your elbow I believed if everyone of us takes such a bold step by reaching out to the homeless in our respective abode with the little God had provided for us via cryptocurrency by selling some proportion to fiat and invariably using the money to buy stuffs for these homeless people will go a long way in ameliorating their living conditions.

Yes, it's good that you made a good deed but remember when you decide to give homeless, there will be another "homeless" that try to take the advantage.
So it will be better if you give to them that really needed most like old people or disable people etc

Food is the one thing that is pretty tough to just take advantage of here. They aren't getting drugs or anything - I think this is ok. I went out again and completed day 21 - pretzels for 4 people. I am really looking to see if the Philly pretzel factory can sponsor me!

To help the homeless and the poor is certainly noble,but I think that it does not bring as they say a long effect. Need not to feed the fish and give a fishing rod,and it is much more difficult and longer.The only people who really need our help are seriously ill children and they really need help.They're angels to God.

This is a good way of giving back the blessing that you receive. Those who are homeless and hungry is something that our government alone cannot handle. I hope more Crypto enthusiast will follow this move in different parts of the world because aside from helping those who are in need, this also helps promote Crytocurrencies. I think that the idea that you say is a good idea. Besides getting benefits in crypto currency then you can take social action. You can invite homeless people to join crypto currencies, explore crypto currencies, and work with crypto currencies. If homeless people can get income from crypto currency then they can improve their lives and of course they can have a house as they dream.

This is indeed a good step to help homeless people,you are doing a good job. To get more donation please upload all the pictures of activities you are doing everyday. It will help donators to have faith on you project because crypto world is full of scammers and people donating money may need some concrete updates to donate.
I have one question, how are you reaching homeless people in other countries, are you finding like mind people there and getting their help or connecting some NGO, please share every possible idea so this charity can reach every needy people across the world.

I must have missed this thread because I had Bitcoin Discussion on ignore for quite some time, but congrats on getting through pharmacy school--it's a great career, especially if you like to help people, which you obviously do.  I didn't go through all the pics, but you seem to have a heart of gold.  Best of luck to you in your career.

Now my cynical side: I don't think crypto will ever be able to help the homeless unless they have an easy way to spend it on the streets--or if they have internet access and can order stuff to be delivered at an address.  The address part is probably not an insurmountable problem, as I think a lot of homeless can receive mail at shelters or friends' or relatives' houses.  But regardless of all the problems with this kind of aid, it's good you spread the word about crypto to a population that otherwise may not have known about it.

not really .  bitcoin was not indtroduced that way by its founders but people only use btc mainly on the dark market which makes bitcoin popular that time but i think its also becuase not all people have heard it and not all merchants are willing to use it as a payment for thier business or stores  .

Especially, the trust the people give to cryptocurrency when they are helping out homeless isn't going to waste but serves as the best idea to start these charities with. Why? Because you aren't just donating, your donation is multiplying in the market, even if we donate a bit, it could help allot when the market price increases, so I do really appreciate this kind of efforts for us to build a better unifying world where each nations is caring about one another.

In country like India where poor people percentage is higher, it will be a very useful idea to do this. I have a small group of people who does this in regular way and i will convey them about this. Hopefully, they will use this to do more good for poor people.

Homeless people often do not need to help with money. This only makes them parasites. We need to help them find a job, give them a boost to a new life.

If you really want to help the homeless, stop pumping them full of destructive and poisonous drugs, and try to get the government to stop funding the big pharmaceutical companies, and use the money to expand the economy and create jobs .

it's a great way to take advantage of cryptocurrency. I have always tried to do that, but I just need to exchange my cryptocurrency to fiat, so there is no documentation for that.
however, I also want those people to learn to use and utilize crypto. it's just that the economic limitations they have cannot achieve that. I really appreciate what you did. as a crypto user, I am inspired by this story.

This is a great way to go, we need to care for the downtrodden since this current financial system is more of imprisonment than a freedom to the weak and the poor. Well done for your care of humanity. 

Homelessness and jobless is close to each other, once you are jobless it won't be long and you are going to be homeless. The recession as they said is coming and it could take a worse turn for the homeless. I wonder how they are eating, it would be good if they live the shore where they can go fishing. They could cheer up with the thought that when hitting rock bottom, there is no where else to go but up.

I had high hopes for this thread, but it seems to have turned into another charity collection project. I decided to become a digital nomad, and this is where Bitcoin can really help. It enables people to break free of the globalist bankers. Moving out of a permanent address can be a lifestyle choice, and it gives one a great deal more freedom.

I applaud you for doing amazing stuff for the community plus helping people at the same time. Not all people are willing to go to such depths.

That’s a really good thing that you have been up to, but my main concern is – these homeless people that you’re talking about that you want to be giving these cards with a Bitcoin QR Codes, do they even have the phone to scan and save these coins? As much as I support Bitcoin, but as for the homeless?

I would say that it’s best to give them cash, because that’s what they really need and nothing more. These are homeless and they will be looking for food and shelter, so giving them cryptocurrency as of now is of no use, better give them real money that they scan spend on whatever they need right now. But, only for the people who are able to cope up with technical things of bitcoins, it will be meaningful to help them with bitcoins directly.

These are very noble deeds. Many people need help and people like you like a breath of fresh air for them. ;)

So everyone now feeling the recession with the pandemic ? Coz I feel it coming sooner or later. With jobless and homeless people, I don't think they will be at least see by the government to take any action to provide them what they need and helping through crypto ( althought most of us wants to) is a kinda weird idea at some point. If we look at homeless people, we can see that most of them are drug addicted, I'm not saying everyone, I said most of them. obviously, there are some good people too. if we cannot move them away from drag addiction then they will never be able to return to the middle-class life. if we want them to improve, we must first relieve them of drug addiction and we should provide employment for them.

Amazing, I never thought I could help some homeless person. I’ve only used cryptocoins to place sports bets or just round them up until I really need it and this doesn’t seem like a bad idea.

It is such a good deed and a great idea to help out those people who are reallg having a hard time dwelling outside due to the reason that they have no home to go with. Wow! You're really doing a great job man and God will reward you someday. I know some people are saying that you should not give them cryptocurrency because that wouldn't be what they need, they should given real money or food instead. Well, as for me, I don't really see anything wrong what you're doing/giving to them.

Imagine that you give out those cryptocurrencies to them and all of a sudden the price of cryptocurrencies goes up, then these people might luckily be able to get out from their poverty situation. And when giving them the paper with the QR code, please make sure to explain to them what it's all about so that they will understand it and not make a mistake.

Keep providing updates. That may help for you as well by making some people to think about contributing in your initiative or they may copy your's within their locality for their people.

I salute you for being selfless to those who are homeless. I wish I could do the same here in the Philippines because more and more people are suffering from poverty (especially those jobs are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic). It's just that because of the ridiculous lockdown rules here in the country, we can't do anything to help those people who are homeless because of the stay-home rules.

There was a time that every Sunday, I go to church and there are homeless people begging for money or blessings. It's just that most of them have ignored their wishes, while others only gave them a few pennies. I gave them something to eat like cheese bread, it's like more than 10 of them.

There was also a Sunday where I bought a couple of Dunkin Donuts boxes with munchkins, and treating these homeless people after attending the mass. You know how it felt great for me to give than receiving. The feeling of giving is much more greater!

It feels so good to be able to help others, especially to those who really have nothing. If we are capable of helping others then we should do it because if we look at the situation we realize how lucky we are that we are not in their situation. This is a very noble and exemplary act, and is proof that crypto or those who use it can do good by donating part of their crypto to those in need and it will set an example for other users.

I support your project using cryptocurrency to help homeless people and at the same time helping to adopt the cryptocurrency in a lot of places. Maybe a direct transaction to a homeless is a bit sketchy to make a donation in a high tech way like cryptocurrency but I think something like a organization or charity that is accepting a crypto donation would make it easier to make a donation or transact with the organization. At the same time it is easier to get donation in every part of the world since the transactions is digital.

Cost effectiveness/time effectiveness. So far, I've been trying to stick to cheap calorie dense foods, but it would be nice to stretch the money further by maybe having something that can last longer than a single meal/day. I know in general preserved foods like this cost more, so I would have to find something that can maybe just be good for 2 days instead of just one.

You could feed a village of homeless if you can cook porridge. One sack of rice can feed everyone, you just have to make it nutritious by adding some ginger and some vegetables. You will need the biggest cauldron available, probably two of them.

I have been in a feeding program in my country where this is what they did for the children who are in the public school. All they do is adding ground meat like chicken, ginger, onion leaves, and seasoning is all it takes. Organizing kids to fall in line is the hardest part which could be the case you'd encounter as well.

only issue is the region that we are serving. the people are all in the streets of philadelphia, so the meals preferably should be easily separated. (Driving by and handing them out ideally)

You might want to do a soup kitchen type of van so you can move it more efficiently and they will go to you instead of the other way, not to mention that if you get a bigger vehicle, you might be able to serve more or you can have more people giveaway meals on different places.

Vehicle idea is pretty good, maybe a rental at this point would be an ok idea. The most difficult part is actually locating the homeless population consistently. Believe it or not, they are quite hard to deliver meals to while driving, especially with Philly traffic.

You should probably add more projects to help the homeless like giving them homes or probably jobs or you already have that in mind because for me, free food is noble but it can't be a permanent solution to homelessness if you know what I'm saying. Or you could probably use more man power by recruiting the homeless themselves so they at the least don't feel that bad getting free food because they are helping others. Hopefully I can donate to you this year but the money's tight for me too.

I regretted a little bit. I went out with my friend a few days ago and met an old man asking us to buy him something to eat, but our first reaction was to walk away. I still regret it in retrospect. If I can meet someone in need again , I will definitely help them the first time.

This is a coincidence. I helped an old man yesterday. I saw this post today. I hope there will be such volunteers in my place to help the homeless. I usually do volunteer work on weekends.  I really like the sense of accomplishment that helps others get, and hope that there are more and more caring people in the world. Helping homeless people is a really nice, the joy on their face when you give them the food or package is priceless, especially during this pandemic period where the prices of commodities are going through the roof and so many people have been laid off work due to covid 19 restrictions, running such a charity for homeless people in this trying time is commendable, MASSIVE RESPECT!

Yes it is hard but possible. In this work there is organization needed which takes funds from investors and traders and help homeless people. Without organization is difficult to take funds and help homeless because there will nothing happen in one man fund organization will take funds from people and make sum and then they can help homeless.

The most interesting thing about Bitcoin is that it is being used almost everywhere now.  Bitcoin has taken a huge place in cryptocurrencies and is more likely to grow in the future because these uses are the most common.

I admit that you have a very generous attitude where you share the profits from crypto with people who really need it. it can be an example for us so that we can be more sensitive to our surroundings and share our happiness with others because if we share happiness with others it will be much more fun. on the other hand we will also be more enthusiastic and try to rack our brains so that we can get results from this crypto. all of that will work out well if our intentions are good. so it all depends on us, how we take advantage of the results of the crypto itself.

Cryptocurrency is not legalized in my country now so I. I can't distribute money among the helpless poor if I want to. But I helped a distressed person online.

Helping the homeless using crypto is a good move by doing this they will be able to solve their problems very easily. If we have high earnings in crypto then everyone should help homeless usually stay at home and have no knowledge of their activities he lived an inhuman life after being captured by various poor people. Crypto or digital money really stepping up the process of donating money; most of us are now transacting online and using portable devices. Doing this for couple of years isn't something for an individual for them to do so which do proves out that you are really serious on this one. I might make out some donations
later on even though its small but surely it would at least give some or adding up on the help.  ;)

I always salute people who do good in any form, because we as humans must help each other. Because I believe if we do good to others, our life
will be much more meaningful. I agree with you do not see how much donation we give, but just donating even though the amount is small is

Crypto definitely has more than one use-case of speculation. I created this charity to prove to people that even without huge funding from large corporations, small independent organizations are capable of doing huge amounts of good.

Today, I went out for a haircut and was also able to hand out 10 pizzas and some extra snacks. Mostly productive, I think that if we had some more people helping us out we could definitely help more homeless people.

This is a very big problem in society today even the 1st world countries have homelessness problems, house prices are just not offered cheap that a working-class family will have a hard time paying the mortgage. The Streets of Philadelphia is the worse that I have seen which YouTubers are saddened by looking at those people they now considered zombies.

There are group of people also helping those people providing their needs, maybe you could collaborate with those groups in Phillies.

Every money counts no matter how small or big it is as long it do came from the heart because not all people would really be having this kind of consideration on where making out charitable works like this one.

It is just good to see that there are people who do really making out some good deeds which its impressive and not all would really be having that consideration or having thing in mind.

Donations is something not being forced on someone but rather do give out willingly.

Definitely. Helping others is always good, not only have a more meaningful life but it basically is our obligation to fellow human beings. The most valuable humans are those who always try to help others at all times. How much to donate, is not the point, people will appreciate whatever is donated. Brollikk shows us that it is not about the amount of donated money, but how to donate consistently.

Using what you've earned in crypto to help homeless people to survive for a day without worrying about the food is not really a bad idea. The intention of the author was not to focus on promoting and teaching homeless people anything related to crypto but rather to help them with the money he earned in crypto. Indeed, it's not possible for them to learn crypto at their current state but that's not what they need right now.

This is a noble act, god bless you always sir you put a new meaning on how crypto can save and change lives to those who are need of help. This is already a mass adoption in the making with a reasonable act of kindness using crypto currencies as tool of help towards homeless people.
