Title: $770.57 Starter Rig; $1650.53 Example Rig
Post by: fullzero on May 09, 2019, 12:19:28 PM
$770.57 example 2x starter rig

Can be expanded to 6x GPUs for an additional $879.96 or $219.99 per each 1660 GPU.

To be 100% clear; I am in no way affiliated with any of the following products or the companies which produce them.

I do not receive any compensation, in any form.  The links to amazon are NOT referral links.

I have recently seen companies trying to sell overpriced nonsense to miners, and would like to offer a better alternative.

Many mining OSes currently have a problem with 1600 series working correctly.

I have tested these components with both versions of oros and they work without issue.

This is the rig I recommend building now with 2-6 GPUs:

EVGA 1660 XC Black
https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Ultra-Gaming-06G-P4-1167-KR/dp/B07PGLLWRY
$219.99 x2 = $439.98

Veddha Minercase T2 6-BAY (don’t bother setting up fans they will just waste power)
https://www.amazon.com/Veddha-Minercase-T2-6-BAY-Standard/dp/B07BH2S7B5
$35.99

USB Riser Set
https://www.amazon.com/Onvian-Mining-Dedicated-Graphics-Supply/dp/B073LZZL9H
$12.99

1000 GQ PSU
https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Modular-Warranty-Supply-210-GQ-1000-V1/dp/B017ICWP82
$139.09

ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ Motherboard (use the black pcie slots only for a 6x rig)
https://www.amazon.com/ASRock-H110-Mining-Motherboard-Cryptocurrency/dp/B073BX57M1
$49.99

Intel BX80677G3930 CPU
https://www.amazon.com/Intel-BX80677G3930-Celeron-Desktop-Processors/dp/B01MYTY55V
$46.99

Corsair Vengeance LPX 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz (PC4-19200)
https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-2400MHz-PC4-19200-Memory/dp/B01ARGXM0Q
$24.99

Samsung MUF-32AB/AM FIT Plus 32GB USB Key
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MUF-128AB-AM-Plus-128GB/dp/B07D7SX9NS
$9.70

AmazonBasics RJ45 Cat-6 Ethernet Patch Cable (50 ft version priced here get shorter cable as needed):
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-RJ45-Cat-6-Ethernet-Patch-Cable-5-Feet-1-5-Meters/dp/B0134QJH4G
$10.85

total:
$770.57

Many of these items can be found for less on ebay used; however you do have the advantage of having warranties if you buy new.

You can use my mining electric cost calculator (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5131831.0) to estimate what the electric cost of this miner would be for you.  I recommend using a 70 watt power limit unless you have less than $0.075 cent power.  Here is the result for $0.10 cent power (the US average) $13.90 a month:

This table shows the 1660 mining performance with popular coins:

You can use this information and whattomine.com (or another profitability site) to estimate mining returns.

Using 70 watts and 17 MH/s on RVN on May 9th I get:

$0.48 per GPU revenue, or $0.96 for a 2x rig.

0.96 x 30 (days in a month) = 28.8 - 13.90 (estimated electric cost for those with $0.10 cent power, substitute your own power cost)

Which results in $14.9 profit a month for a 2x rig at current rates.

While this is not a lot of profit for a $770.57 (its just under 2% a month or 23% a year) investment, it is extremely low risk vs buying altcoins directly.

This is also a starter rig with only 2x GPUs.

If you spend $879.96 more for a full 6x rig; totaling $1650.53:

$0.48 per GPU revenue, or $2.88 for a 6x rig.

2.88 x 30 (days in a month) = 86.4 - 34.06 (estimated electric cost for those with $0.10 cent power, substitute your own power cost)

Which results in $52.34 profit a month for a 6x rig at current rates.

While this is not a lot of profit for a $1650.53 (its just over 3% a month or 38% a year) investment, it should outperform almost all standard investments.

Note:  Mining returns are extremely volatile, this is a PROJECTION of potential profit using the mining difficulties and probabilities as they are on May 9th 2019.

It is possible that mining returns could reduce significantly.  In this event a miner can always sell the parts to recoup a large portion of the investment.

1660s will retain their resale value well.

Just think if the price gets increase even more and more old miners will be interested to mine crypto again and that must be an unpredictable factor to make another adjustment to the difficulty in the network. that's why i was thinking for a twice before i did it. i have a plan to bought mining rig but after seeing how the difficulty adjustment work and i run MN and it's more profitable than mining. I can earn about $50 in a week. It consumes less than $1500 to be MN  ;D

But mining seems not too bad right now.

That drops the price a bit.

You can also find a lot of 1000 GQs around the same price used on eBay. Search for: evga 1000 gq.
