Title: How to get Merits?
Post by: AL1CE M on May 11, 2019, 04:17:05 AM
Guys I know how this works - You post a valuable post and if people like it, they send you 1 merit.

But i've tried a lot of that stuff and as you can see, I still got 0 Merits.. Is there something i'm doing wrong?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!  :)

You just registered in April, only have 40 posts, and the ones I could view weren't that great--certainly not worthy of merits.

You're going to have to seriously increase the quality of your writing if you expect to earn any merits, and I'd also advise you not to make the majority of your posts in the spam sections (Altcoin Discussion, Bitcoin Discussion, Speculation are among the big ones).  Even if you write a masterpiece, nobody will read it because it'll get buried under an avalanche of shit within seconds.

Be patient.  There are some members here who've made hundreds of posts and still have yet to earn any merits.  And it's supposed to be hard.  The whole reason the merit system was devised was to keep shitposters from ranking up.

Ooh, I miss this kind of post. It's been a long time since the last time I know.

What stuff? Did you post something valuable?

Is there something i'm doing wrong?
Yes, your writing, your content, your topic selection.

See, what kind of post gets merit: https://bpip.org/report.aspx?r=mostmerited

The one thing you're doing wrong is you always care that once you post you'll get a merit, at least take out that notion when you post on different boards here in the forum.

Just so you know valuable posts isn't only worth 1 merit, it makes a lot of merit if it's useful or helpful to someone else.

You are a bad researcher and not able to use the search function properly. (Otherwise you do not need to post this topic.)
Reading more and writing logical is a key to merits and a good grasp of language is a added advantage.

So far, this is the best and most detailed answer i've found. Thanks, I think now I know what I was doing wrong.  :)

Firstly, you can't always expect "good" posts to attract Merits. With the exception of known contributors, treat them as a bonuses and work your way up. Be natural and they'll come naturally.

Alternatively, there are threads which provide Merit giveaways if your post(s) qualifies, such as this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5124596.0

Now this is another thing you doing wrong.  Selecting a reply because it did not come out as hard as the rest. I would advice you take note of all reply find out the message in them no matter how hard it came at you, recycle it into a fuel and put it into use.
As a newbie to get ahead you need patience, always ready for correction, tough skin, and hard work.
Bottom line improve your posting and stop thinking about merit. It would come when you do what's right

Yep for me merit is kinda hard to get. As I start here, I think of so much topics that I think that are good. Knowing that I'm not a good writer, I still do my best to write and to post a catchy and purposeful topic. Luckily I got one and for me, it's a one lucky shot.

Merit is really hard to get. You gotta think of so many valuable and purposeful things as your topic. And I think we should have the right delivery and writing style. But most importantly, your topic has a big factor.
