Title: BCH loss by BSV transaction to Bitfinex
Post by: uek390 on May 20, 2019, 06:15:19 PM
Actually I wanted to transfer my BSV from my wallet to Bitfinex. Unfortunately also my BCH got transferred to the same adress. Now I cannot see my BCH anymore.

You can see the transaction ID here: https://blockchair.com/search?q=01442e399bd22e870391324bd11b7fd3d8e20c025582bf860cfdd26a610dcbd1

Bitfinex answered me that requests are only possible with amounts more than $ 2500. But my amount is less than that.

Does anyone has an idea how I get my BCH back? Is it possible to withdraw my BSV back to a wallet and get my BCH because they are still sticked together with BSV?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do. Only Bitfinex can help you (as they control the address you sent the coins), and since they only provide support for amounts bigger than $2500, your money is lost.

Sorry for your lost... :(

This is the case of BCH/BSV not having replay protection, right? If so, you're unfortunately screwed. Hope it wasn't that much.

Send more Bitcoin Cash to your BSV deposit address to fill that $2500 minimum for their cross-chain recovery.... No that's a joke :D

Here's a slightly serious version: Deposit a $2,500 amount to the same wallet and now it will be qualified for the recovery and you can ask to recover the 1st transaction with it since it's the same address and private key.
That's if you can "gamble" that $2,500 'cause they said: "but a successful outcome is not and cannot be guaranteed".

Seriously, There's nothing you can do about it, the terms (https://support.bitfinex.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006262533-Deposit-of-wrong-tokens-or-wrong-addresses) clearly said that they will only attempt to recover your coins if it is higher than $2500 in value. Perhaps in the future when BCH miraculously pumped to turn your $174 (ATM) into +$2,500. (in reality, it's the opposite)

This is not good advice.

The article you cited very clearly says that a recovery will only be considered when the amounts involved are above $2,500. It also says that not all deposits sent to a deposit address for the wrong coin can be recovered, but if the private key would be calculated to the same address for both coins, this is not an issue. They will charge a fee to successfully recover a deposit, and without first confirming the fee amount, the fee could be more than the original deposit amount

-snip-
:-\ Uhh... Yes, that's what I said.
You just rephrased it except from the "fee" part.

Are you seriously considering the joke part and slightly considering the slightly serious part? :)
