Altcoins are falling behind bitcoin as bitcoin has come out of the bear market so when will altcoins follow?

Is there like a pattern to this? If there is a bitcoin bull run then obviously altcoins don't go up at the same time however when bitcoin has a pullback in price then do altcoins shine then or when bitcoin pullsback to a stabilised price for a how long certain period of time before altcoins shine usually?

Can someone compare the patterns from 2017-2018 to 2019 now when it comes to altcoins?

it already got the opportunity to develop so we can not worry about the past and we need to be clear with the investment and taking chances again once for getting the good value in this feature so this time I will try to invest and best currencies for the Bull market.

Many questions like this existed before and has been asked by our fellow crypto folks and with the answer, nobody can tell you when will altcoins will follow or when it will go out of the bear.

The very pattern that it has, if bitcoin pumps, altcoins will have the same move and will be pumped afterwards. But if it haven't followed that certain pattern, you need to be patient and wait until most of it goes like where bitcoin is going.

Sometimes they are like that but as I have said, nobody can say and measure such period of times.

They're all unpredictable, just look at Binance coin, it has skyrocketed and went high more than its 2017's all time high.

is the altcoins her always want to be a profitable way then it need to be more valuable and demanded by the people so the good products always go with the right direction and it reaches the people that's why I think it definitely create some changes in this 2019.

I'm not a crypto analyst, but I've been watching the market for a few years now, and to my eyes there does seem to be the kind of pattern you described.  I've always assumed that since there is a finite amount of money being invested in the entire crypto market, sometimes it gets a bit lopsided--like right now it looks like most of the money is going toward bitcoin, which is boosting its price.

And yeah, I think altcoins will catch fire again, and for some reason I think it'll probably be soon.  I also hate to admit this since I'm a huge supporter of bitcoin, but lately I've been trading my bitcoin for some altcoins that I can stake for interest/dividends.  The prices seem very low, and bitcoin's price is sky high, so I figure it might be a good buying opportunity right now.

Apart from binace coin is there any other altcoins that kept its top100 rank in coinmarketcap since 2017 or reached new ATH's in 2019 and shall I assume that reaching new ATH's in 2019 will automatically keep their high rank within the top 100 anyway?

It will always depend upon Bitcoin market movement as i have observed for so many times before that every time there is a huge movement of the Bitcoin price it will create a domino effect to all Altcoins like when the price of Bitcoin start falling from $20,000 in which Altcoins and ICOs are really affected and now we see Bitcoin is rising so the whole crypto market is average increasing too.

The altcoin is not yet out of the bear market. I guess now the market focuses on pumping Bitcoin. Altcoins are experiencing very slow developments. But we must patiently wait because Altcoin will definitely experience a great pumping. I do not think that this will be the same as in the year 2017. Since the year 2019 is the market year crypto focus on price recovery.

What do you mean, altcoin is also increasing when the bullish market run. If you look at the bitcoin price a few days ago, altcoins price also increasing.

I think the pattern on 2017-2018 to 2019 is different, it's always different every year.

if you remember ethereum price bottom is about $80 and its happend in few months ago
and now ethereum price is about $240 and thats mean from the bottom now eth price already grow about x3 right ?

I don't think it's a good way. I believe that the Chinese have anticipated the Chinese government's monetary devaluation plan and have started to buy more Bitcoin in the past.
The United States has always been more advantageous and therefore Chinese people want to find a new market to escape the economic recession.
We are about to see a market with many unexpected events !! ;D

Because those speculators in bitcoin are jumping back to the altcoin, this is how the cycle works when bitcoin was reaching its stable point and there will not be so much volatility and those bitcoin speculators are taking their chance and move to the altcoin as soon as possible. When you can get in early and more profit you can get.
But the good news will also at least bring a little effect to the bitcoin trend.

they are not falling behind, they are already behind. and their trend is the expected trend that has always happened.
when btcoin rises, altcoins fall.
when bitcoin falls, altcoins fall.
when bitcoin is stable, altcoins get pumped.
it has always been like this.

the same trend as above has been happening in 2017, 17, 19 and any other year. the only thing different in 2017 is that whenever there is a big surge of newbies in the market who have no understanding of what is going on in this pump and dump show, they invest their money in anything that exists. so altcoins get pumped during bitcoin rise in those times and that is the only exception.

Careful with looking at patterns. The same chart, you will be surprised, will give 10 different traders, a few similar patterns but different random ones. The more you pull the timeline or zoom in, the more different these patterns will be. And every trader is tempted to SEE patterns they hope to find.

Alts I was just saying in another thread, they are still almost chiefly reliant on Bitcoin. Until the day they are independent, they come out of the bear market when Bitcoin does.

Still, the Altcoins are in intense pressure. Bitcoin has taken a move enough upward but the altcoins are still waiting for the positive news and the acceptance of the global business to make a demand. So, it is evident that the altcoins are waiting for the Bitcoin when it will cross the previous high of $20,000.

Altcoins will pump when btc goes sideways for a considerable amount of time, desirable a month or so. But btc price also matters. Sideways somewhere around $8000 will give alts good opportunities to pump, but if btc goes down to $4000 or $5000 and goes sideways at these low levels, altc are not likely to pump. Then there will be small growth, but not something amazing.

Other altcoins are difficult to follow the bitcoin price trend except ethereum.  This is because other altcoins demand is very low due to the loss of people's trust in the altcoin.  Now all that is needed is public confidence in the new altcoins that have emerged.

Soon it will get out of the bear. Crypto users will try to find a way to find cheaper way to move their BTC and using the altcoins is an option.
We are also getting closer to adoption, those utility tokens like ETH and all other coins that has a usecase will also be used that may make its price moon.


While its true, altcoins were not to blame for the loss of trust. The bubble popped and price correction happens.

I think if not now maybe next year we can have altcoins out of bear market, or if something happen we can have this year but i think only if whales coming and buy altcoins, without money is not possible. I think bitcoin halving will help altcoins to grow.

The main problem is public trust.  If the price correction is the cause of the price of the altcoin destroyed, it should be at a time like this that the price will follow the pattern of the price of bitcoin.  But the fact is only ethereum which in my opinion follows that pattern. IMO

Back to OP,  altcoins will return to where it was in 2017 when Bitcoin price skyrocket in its market value, it is only then that altcoins will start bullish trend and remember that one cannot be optimistic about when exactly that will happen to altcoins.

Most altcoins don't go with the flow or don't follow the trend but I believe that it will only take time. Some altcoins have risen the last bull run so there's a possibility that the same thing might happen anytime. Some potential altcoins follow the price of Bitcoin so I guess good prices will come when the bull run starts.

Will be needing more events to occur the growth and passed thru this bear market for all potential and developed altcoins like new countries adoption or implementation, halving and big activities that can affect the whales to invest in alts again . Since they were affected by bitcoin price too continues inclined in BTC may affect them but not too much or too fast as it pump before the last year's dump.

We all know that everything takes time to goes up so be more patience about altcoins because it will goes up too. Maybe not now but if the bitcoin continues to rise we will the altcoin to be follow. So grab the opportunity now to buy what altcoins you want so when the time the altcoins goes up you will earn a profit.

Because when bitcoin goes up traders switching to bitcoin and sell their altcoins that have a bitcoin pairs that's why altcoins left behind on bitcoin price and when bitcoin going to down they bought altcoin because it has a good profit when you buy altcoins dip while bitcoin is on the top. However, this is not an accurate measure sometimes they are both raising up and down.

It is hard to have accurate comparison data at these times. However, maybe this year there will be no pump and pour from new altcoins like before. Observe and acknowledge the fact that dev team must try to develop and improve their projects to create efficiency and benefits. Before wanting to get out of bear market, it is highly dependent on bitcoin.

Normally altcoins will follow the trend of bitcoin,sometimes it will take a while even after the trend of bitcoin turns out into bullish so no need to worry just hold it with patience if your coin is worthy to hold or just move to the better coin and wait for its bullish movement.

We need a relatively more stable BTC moves and more confidence in the altcoins market.

Today. altcoin growth is very slow.  the graph dropped drastically and was very different with 2107.  maybe BTC creates bullish but the development of altcoin is still unclear.  and difficult to bullish.  the altcoin scheme in 2017 is better than today.

When the price has come up you have to remember that the correction will come. The price cryptocurrency always up and down, you don't need to worry about it. Spectrecoin has been increasing its trading volume, it hasn't reached above $1. The peak price it has attained in recent days seems to be around $0.85, altcoins weren't falling behind bitcoin. Probably, some altcoins really do not show the growth, however, if we speak about the top-100 cryptocurrencies, I do not see that bears are pressing them making lower and lower. Bulls are not simply active now.

It's already came out from the situation of not developing right now the altcoins are also developing equal to the development of Bitcoin but when it was slow and steady onely the investment people is more comfortable with their investment and their selling also

there is still a chance to increase the altcoin value this year, although lately there has been no increase in altcoin market price movements but this cannot make altcoin unable to increase its value anymore because the current market situation is still in the recovery phase

that's what makes many people now release their altcoins and switch to bitcoin. altcoin has not experienced market growth, because the effects of increasing bitcoin are only followed by a few altcoins. the most important market still looks good, and now maybe the altcoin is starting to move from a dump.

For all altcoin it is indeed the price still stuck in the current price I mean when its price up then its price will come back to original price. But I saw some altcoin that rose drastically such as BNB who has increased around $10 so far in this year and also I just weird when I saw the price of BSV who met drastically increased, in two days its price had increased almost 90% different with the other altcoins price. There is no the best strategy to put money on altcoin for the lonh term investment but for short term investment maybe it will be good.

It's more on speculative whether Alts will overcome this bear as Bitcoin is also trying to soar high, if price movements will also be the same patterned as 2017 was, then chances for Alts to make over and get way from bear season will be much possible.

There is no pattern in the open market everything is moving according to the supplies and demands. Only whales can make changes in the market if they want to and that is a fact. If the Bitcoin price rise and altcoins will follow then consider yourself as a lucky one to make a profit in your doing short. But if i were you i would still wait for the right time to sell some since the bull market is slowly coming to us.

The best choice here is to stop paying attention to these ups and downs. The market is rather stable - even when altcoins fall now, it will not last more than 2-4 days. The market benchmark is growth, definitely.

I think it is still depends on what altcoin it is. If old altcoins, usually it have pattern to bitcoin price. Actually can up or down. But for new tokens, i don't think it can easily to move because of price bitcoin. Because it is all depends on their devs how to manage their coin/token in market so it not get dumped a lot.

I don't really think about price growth, I look more at the trading volume on the market. even though prices fell, but trade continued to increase which meant that the decline would not last long, because market adoption was still ongoing and growing and would increase market power.

In time, people will be much aware that crypto exist and that will lead to a good trade value. Being able to adopt early this time is a chance for us to earn as time passes by, soon when people got aware that the crypto potential earnings as well as investment gives better outcome,trading potential altcoins will be much profitable.

Altcoins often depend on bitcoin, it will just follow afterwards. It was the pattern I always follow by far. But there some times that bitcoin pumps and altcoins dont follow. Another thing is that, a lot are trading in the market, which they keep on buy and sell. Look on those things as well.

Im feeling that this year is an exciting year for bitcoin and for some altcoins. Just hodl and be ready for the surprise that you least expected   Bitcoin has been stable  at $8K  and  i dont see any reason  for a price price dump.

The pattern is that a bull market tends to start with bitcoin first. And then when bitcoin starts to stabilise or at least increase more slowly, then it is time to switch to alts, which will then take over the bull market for a while. It has happened like this many times before - look at the 2017 bull for example.
Of course crypto isn't 100% predictable, but it is often a good idea to be aware of historic patterns.

Are you sure there is no reason that Bitcoin can go down? You can speculate, but everyone has their own views about the market. because in this market all possible disabilities can come and surprise you when you don't pay attention to it. still be careful.

I don't think that will happen. altcoin growth doesn't always follow the movement of bitcoin. some altcoins can grow in difficult market conditions where they have the ability to pump themselves from platform updates or other news. developers should pay more attention to this, and not fixate on the price movements of bitcoin.

No one knows when some of the altcoins will follow. Ethereum did went up but it's not like what happened 2 years ago. I think the altcoins right now are still trying to recover. Because bitcoin already went up and only the top altcoins were able to adjust but the adjustments that were made in the price was just little. Probably when the increase in bitcoin becomes more constant, the altcoins will follow as well.

I think if we talk only about ethereum, then the results of the platform were affected primarily by the bad ico market of companies.  And not only a large number of fraudulent projects, which in a certain sense provoked negative comments about ethereum, but also the unprincipled activities of many developers of new projects who sold the ethereum en masse after the completion of the company’s ico.  The withdrawal of funds from the cryptocurrency market and the sale of Ethereum also had a negative impact on the development and pricing of Ethereum.

Most altcoins are trash, it is difficult to accept for some but it is the reality and I can assure you that most of those coins will never come out of the bear market because there is nothing behind them, the coins that have something going on for them recovered somewhat and are showing some positive signs, but this growth was caused almost exclusively by bitcoin investors so it is understandable that altcoins did not performed as well.

The market keeps changing its pattern especially the popular altcoins that were following bitcoin price movement in 2017, 2018. Traders are moving their altcoins holding into bitcoin in 2019 and when bitcoin gained they are not ready to buy back but selling it for fiat. Most of the altcoins that make significant upward movement in 2017 are not even moving at all and some of them are still in the bearish trend that started in March 2018! I am not expecting much from some of these coins as many of them may not survive in the long term.

It will be going out from the market when bitcoin will be doing the same thing too. As far as i know about the fact anything is under control by bitcoin and even some big updates give nothing to the altcoin or at least to create a little comeback for altcoin.
The future of altcoin can be determined through analyze the bitcoin chart because it's 100% following bitcoin today.

I am afraid that no one will know when the bear market will over because it is out from any people predictions. We could only follow the journey of the cryptocurrency, and you can get involved without thinking about when it's over. If you could make a profit in the bear market, then it is good for you because you could survive and you can even make a profit which other people hard to do.

Btc should bottom out by end of aug and a selection of alts should make decent gains as btc approaches bottom and during consolidation. Window is likely to be small, maybe 3 weeks at most ending close to when binance blocks US customers

The very fast movement of bitcoin makes altcoins nothing. I think we have to wait for Bitcoin to rise and then stabilize. I think it will happen at the end of the year.

It will happen once we believe the pump will not happen anymore. It has been proven in many assets before, they kept pressuring the price creating a rumor and making us to believe that we are doomed. Nobody know about it and even if they know it, they won't tell you.
just make sure you are able to survive until it happens.

It will be so hard for Altcoins to be shining again at this time, because Bitcoin price and movement are strongly unstable. Better to put our investment on a coins/tokens that doesn't really pegged by bitcoin movement, or even joining IEO on big exchange for quick profit.

All predictions go against our thinking and this market is always very volatile so it is impossible to be sure what will happen next. I believe there will be more adjustments in the next few years and we need to be more patient this time because surely all altcoin will increase in price but only good altcoin can survive. Anyway, I'm only investing in Bitcoin and waiting for Bitcoin to increase so there won't be much investment risk

I like what you said here man, we just came out of bear market of bitcoin barely some months back and majority of people are already expecting bitcoin value to reach another alt time high by now, for bitcoin to have even reached this level is a miracle and I believe there is still going to be further increase before the year runs out, and as bitcoin increases, many altcoins that are within the top 100 will also increase too.

For other altcoins, I think the moment bitcoin start going sideways after some increases, they will also come out of their own bear market too, even though this time around, I am not so sure that the altcoins season will have effect on all the coins in the market, I think there is going to be so many altcoins that will never follow altcoins season because they have no use case.

Even the stable of bitcoin price doesn't give any impact to the majority of altcoins and it looks like the altcoin itself come out from the bearish market use the FOMO that will be made caused by a big update or partnership.
the direction can't be predicted and this is why just taking the development of altcoin as the main thing as a consideration to determine the direction of such coin.

Maybe near the end of this year i think. Bitcoin dominance is at his highest, and a lot higher than at its peak price in 2017. But its price didn't succeed to increase. When people are going to realize that the price they are dreaming is not going to be reach, they are going to switch to stable coins or altcoins.

It could be true because the altcoin price is already a long time wait for the bull run comes. I cannot imagine when the bull run comes to the altcoin, maybe all of the altcoins will start to rise together and make us confuse which altcoin first that we need to sell. Many people are still waiting for the bull run in altcoin, but now, I think we should wait for on where the bitcoin price will go so then the altcoin price can follow behind on bitcoin.

I think this is just waiting for the right time where the altcoin bull run returns, I see altcoin movement is very slow but every day the value of altcoin slowly rises when there is good news following the value of bitcoin which is rising stably, I still hope the value of altcoin rises stably for the future, this situation is not the same as in 2017 where the value of altcoin rises rapidly but the price is fast falling.

I was going to say altcoins will go out of the bear market when bitcoin goes in the green but from what I see in the op, it seems like you have disconnected the relationship these coins share of altcoins riding the wave of either the bull or the bear. If this is not what's happening any more then idk.

    It`s just a current trend. We can`t explain every situation in crypto-market, sometimes the price movement can be very confused even for
experienced crypto-traders.
   I think we need to believe even situation is heartbreaking for alt-coins holders as I am. What else we can do than to hope and wait situation to get
better. Trend will change and alt-coins will rise again, I will believe until that happen or I will sink together with my alt-coins.

Of course, the trend in the cryptocurrency market will change and the dominance of Altcoins will grow. But, up to this point, many Altcoins will be removed from trading on the cryptocurrency market and will leave the market.

I think altcoins will be out of the bear season for a while. I've been telling this opinion over and over again for almost a week and dominance of bitcoin on the market has been on the decline for 1 week. I think bitcoin dominance in the market will drop to at least 61% of course this will also relieve altcoins. We can even see astronomical ascents. According to the experts and crypto analysists, Bitcoin will reach $ 20,000 only after the halving, which will be held in 2020. Therefore, altcoins, which are trotting behind BTC all the time, even the moset "independent" ones can start going up sufficiently only close to this time. Suppose that now, the market volatility like +/- 10% can become the so-called crypto trend for the end of 2019.

I am not sure that it is really a wise decision to invest in new coins as you may not really know what the future holds for them, or maybe you don't care about the future except what you can get from them right now, which I think is actually the best for some of these new coins, it is better that investment in them are based in short term investment. 

In investing in those coins too, we still have to be very careful and be fast enough to cash out profits before it gets dumped, because any new coins that gets dumped, I don't think that It will ever rise again.  The most reliable coins to invest in are the coins that have real use case in the market, and most of them are still the older coins, they are the ones that we can reserve our investment in them for future purpose and for the sake of our future generations.

The Bitcoin dominance chart is showing signs of "topping out" which means more people are buying altcoins rather than Bitcoin. However, you must always take note the growth of all coins Bitcoin included. So, you also check the chart of total coin marketcap and it still looks bearish so no reversal for probably the next two weeks.

Basically, there is no pin point time frame for this, Alts like LEDU, Vechain, XLM, whatever project would have to have a huge influx of funds before they're independent on it's own.

I'm not familiar with LEDU and Vechain and I hope these coins will have a better future cause think about XLM, feel doubt about it.
Actually, I save some XLM last year after the bull run but I don't see anything that it makes a pump instead of seeing it down. It may be because of the market situation but only I just hope that I can manage to hold it long.

Yes, If this trend continues definitely there are many altcoins couldn't manage to generate enough volumes in the market and will be removed from the exchanges. Now Bitcoin dominance is more than 65%, which is a very tough job to increase the price of altcoin. In the coming days, we might see an upward trend for the altcoins.

Decentralized thing like bitcoin is almost impossible to stabilized because some whales that holds thousand of them can make the market move.

Nobody can predict crypto movement, but I believe that the biggest problem of altcoins is the dominance of Bitcoin. As soon as, the dominance would fall below 50-60 percent, altcoins would become a necessary space for growth.

I predict it will happen every 4 years because from 2103 there was no high increase for 4 years until the end of 2017, but this is just my prediction it could be wrong.

Yes bitcoin is escape into the bear market price scenario but not meaning bitcoin is strong enough wait for the price of bitcoin stay at 15k usd it's possible altcoins are get out into the bear situation and 15kmusd value of bitcoin is possible sign for the ATH if that happen altcoins follow to the king especially ETH.

People would not because of bitcoin at $15000 start investing in altcoins, even if bitcoin reaches $20000, if altcoins remain the way they are unserious, I mean bringing up bad projects that are not attractive to people, they will still not put their money. The survival of altcoin is about putting money into the market, and every individual and every investor has a feeling, if they don’t feel too comfortable with altcoin investment, they will rather continue to buy bitcoin, even if they cannot buy the whole of it.

Whatever triggered altcoin boom in their last season will really need to work very hard and I think it is Ethereum, of which Ethereum is even disappointing so many people now because of their platform, and it feels like they don’t have new ideas to bring to the public again.

This bear market is helping bounty hunters actually to collect more BTC for the bullrun. I'm be more happy to at least gather some more BTC if it will take another year, I can continue to join campaigns. There are speculations that mini pumps will happen since halving is coming. BTC Halving usually can trigger the bullrun just like the last, chances is that it will happen next year as most of those who speculate said. Bag yourself of some altcoins.

It's hard to come out with true results since we are in the adoption period expect the unexpected to happen, every year is a different scenario because of many new players and companies are coming in, some sectors want to create FUDS some hype because there is no one group that control the market but we do have whales and sometimes their action contradict each others.

Which bounty is helping you to collect more BTC in this altcoin bear market, BTCitcoin is on a recovery phase for a some time and that cannot be said about the altcoin market but what i did not understand is the relevance between market price and bounty hunting.

Halving is happening in BTCitcoin and which speculators said about bagging altcoins and if that is the case you are in for a hard reality and majority of the altcoins will not have any significant rally like we used to see in the past. If you are investing in BTCitcoin because of halving then it makes sense.

Bitcoin will certainly increase but we should not rely on this growth to invest because the bear market is continuing and if not careful, you will be the first to suffer big losses. In my opinion this year should not invest altcoin and should invest only when that project has a clear development plan because currently there are more than 93% of scam projects are available in this market. I think you should have a long-term investment plan to benefit the future.

As a general rule, past performance is no indicator for the future. It stays in the pattern until it doesn't. we never had a regulation framework setup yet, we never had this much adoption in a single year yet. Things do change if parameters change. The parameters are a lot different in 2018-2019 than in any year before. BTC and Altcoins could reach an ATH in 2020 or in 10 years.

In my opinion, it's more likely the next bull run will come between 2020 and 2021 because Crypto has never had so many developers working on solutions all at once. what drove the last bull run was the ERC-20 standard for raising money and it's likely a combination of a few projects will drive dApp adoption and fuel another bull run by enabling new use cases we haven't seen before. the bearish market is making its last efforts.

I love my coins and we all do, and we all are in this for the money at the end of the day, but will we live long enough to see the end of that day? We can't ever know, only way is to wait and see.

You are accurate about us never being able to predict the exact time when altcoin will come out of bear market.

There are many people in the market with different goals and opinion, some whales believe that this is the accumulation period and they start accumulating, while some believe this is the selling period, and they start selling depending on the time that they all entered the market, so their action will surely contradict themselves, but amidst all these contradicting actions, we just need to take advantage of the bear market also to invest in coins that are qualified for long term investment, so that anytime they eventually come out of the bear market, they will be able to generate a reward that will pay for the time we have spent supporting the project.

I am still inclined to think that by the end of this year we will be able to see the overall growth of the cryptocurrency market, including the long-awaited growth of our altcoins, which have been in a price decline for about two years. This year, we saw a not-so-typical situation, when in the second quarter Bitcoin went up in price almost four times, while altcoins almost did not budge. This behavior of altcoins was not typical and this indicates that in the world of cryptocurrencies such deviations from the norm will occur very often.

We have 2 months left and this year will end. Nothing wrong to be positive but if ever nothing happens, don't feel that our expectation isn't met. I'm inclined by early 2020 up to the year ending of it. And if the market didn't do good by that time and bear is still on us, it won't make me feel upset. I see some newly invested people became upset if the coin they have invested didn't go up so quick. But I think the mindset has been changed now and the belief that crypto is a rich quick scheme has been changed already and removed.
