Title: A New Bitcoin Rival Is Coming?
Post by: CryptoBry on May 24, 2019, 07:46:49 AM

There is now a name for the cryptocurrency-based payment system that Facebook is planning to debut in 2020 and it is called as GlobalCoin. Indeed, as the name suggest, it would be available globally (well maybe except China, Russia, Iran, North Korea and nations USA is not doing business with) starting with some hand-picked countries. Right now, the team established by Mark to tackle on this project has been communicating with some people involved with regulatory matters to thresh out things so they can start the trial maybe within this year.

With the Facebook empire at the helm and behind the GlobalCoin, people are getting excited and there are now many big investors lining up to be part of the funding circle hoping to snatch part of the estimated $1 billion the project is looking for. With Mark having the Midas touch, investors are thinking that this can be another opportunity of a lifetime. I am not sure though if Facebook will decide to also open the crowdfunding with small investors like in the trending IEOs we have today.

Wow! And of course, there will always be critics of this move by Facebook to join the cryptocurrency craze. There are objecting that what Facebook is getting into is not decentralized and hence can not even be called as genuine cryptocurrency akin to what we see in Bitcoin, Ethereum and the rest of the gang.

Now, considering all of these things and the very big potential of this Facebook project called as GlobalCoin, do you think that soon we can see Mark Zuckerberg not just the emperor of the social media but also the king of cryptocurrency? Or you think that this should be treated just like a normal (though it is very big) project which might also go wrong if the market will not be responding positively? What is your opinion with the foray of Mark into cryptocurrency and will Globalcoin one day be a rival to that of Bitcoin?

This FB coin will be nothing more than a centralized stablecoin. No matter what Zukerberg says about it.
Facebook have a long history of selling their users private data. Even when they implemented end-to-end encryption in WatsApp they are still keep saving backups of conversation on centralized cloud. FB usually bans everyone who does not support their liberal left ideology.
After that I would say that there is no connection between FB and true crypto market. Or maybe only a name.

you can't call something "bitcoin rival" and then keep contradicting what you said in almost every sentence!

... payment system that Facebook is planning to ...
so it is created by a company and is controlled by a company! similar to PayPal! so it is centralized and so it can not even be compared with bitcoin!

Quote
(well maybe except China, Russia, Iran, North Korea and nations USA is not doing business with)
in other words it is censorable and not global while bitcoin is censorship resistant and global!

Quote
... with regulatory matters ...
another sign of centralization...

Quote
... people are getting excited
who exactly are these "people"?

Quote
There are objecting that what Facebook is getting into is not decentralized and hence can not even be called as genuine cryptocurrency akin to what we see in Bitcoin, Ethereum and the rest of the gang.
cryptocurrency is a currency that is based on cryptography, it doesn't have to be decentralized. but when a cryptocurrency is centralized you can no longer compare it with bitcoin.
by the way Ethereum is also centralized not as much as a company coin like Facebook coin but still centralized.

Quote
Mark Zuckerberg not just the emperor of the social media but also the king of cryptocurrency?
they are entering a very hyped up market and with their advertising team and their company's popularity they will make a ton of money for sure but they are not entering the cryptocurrency world as we know it, they are just using the opportunity to make millions.

Quote
will Globalcoin one day be a rival to that of Bitcoin?
i repeat myself but centralized coins can never compete with bitcoin.

No coin can compete with bitcoin due to the fact that no coin can achieve the same distribution that bitcoin has.
then to even suggest that some stablecoin from Facebook would replace anything..

Thanks to him, he's a big personality that endorses cryptocurrency. So the rumors were wrong for naming it as a 'fbcoin' but it should be addressed as globalcoin. But in reality, many have tried and you just can't say because of the standing of facebook as one of the leading social media to become a rival of bitcoin.

It's no different with the early ICOs and labelled themselves as something big. Bitcoin will remain to be the top coin and people aren't willing to dive in into a newly created coin although it's supported with well known company.

Yes, lets take our decentralized space and centralize it to some guy who's selling our information.

It's too soon for them to say that coin will be the new bitcoin rival because their technology is following with the blockchain technology which is already launched several years ago.
They can claim that they are the best coin in the cryptocurrency but still, they need to give proof to us so we can trust them.
And now cryptocurrency became very popular among people on the internet, and it makes Mark did a project that wants to compete with bitcoin or even the altcoin.
I am not sure because they are new coins which still searching for popularity from the people.

I do not like this dude. I do not like his cooperation with the US intelligence agencies and the fact that Facebook merges personal data of users. Bitcoin is a completely different story. It’s like what people created for people, not for the sake of profit, but so that everyone could live better. With the Zuckerberg project, the story is different. This is a commercial project for making money. I don’t know how he will be successful, but I’m not going to participate in it for sure. If you choose such projects, I would prefer the Durov project. Because telegramm remains the only application that is not possible to crack and Durov is principled in the matter of storing customer data.

I think not totally rival mark zuckerberg grab the opportunity how to increase their funds riding of bitcoin popularity and fb coin can help to the people to encourage mass adoption because mark can he use their company to advertise their project possible the crypto currency can get benefits to hype the in the market.
FB coins is centralized crypto currency lining up altcoins came from the ICO bitcoin is stable coin being decentralized crypto currency.

What is your opinion with the foray of Mark into cryptocurrency and will Globalcoin one day be a rival to that of Bitcoin?

The fact is that people are always excited when it comes to potential profit, and this case is no exception. Facebook like man others sees an opportunity to make more money, and cryptocurrency is a easy way these days to get your own coin. At this point it's hard to say how will the users (FB) react on this coin, but the fact is that FB is have almost 2.4 billion users (data from 2019) and that the number of users is growing steadily. There is no doubt that this is an impressive database of potential users, and that FB will use them to succeed with this project.

I agree with most of points talkbitcoin is wrote, any centralized crypto coin can not be rival to bitcoin. But fact is that Zuckerberg is fairly strong global player, and that in his plans he is knocking on lot of doors including governor of Bank of England, US Treasury and Western Union. They are all interested in this new coin, rather than for bitcoin.

That was discussed on this forum long ago. Bitcoin is known to be the king of Cryptocurrency, and no one uses it as alternative payment currency. No investor is interested in Bitcoin's Blockchain ecosystem. Facebook can create its platform but cannot replace Bitcoin. Will Facebook's platform attract investors and users if they develop stablecoin?

Finally, Facebook is in the mood to accept the existence of crypto and about to launch their own coin and it's going to be a milestone for the crypto industry and for Bitcoin lovers; as Facebook is one of the biggest community networks that connect the world which is going to impact the social platform.

Its a new coin yes, its market would be more tham Bitcoin yes, but FB coin is only for facebook. I bet you"ll be only able to use this coin inside FB that is how facebook will make money on it. It's target will only users of facebook. So it will not become a rival of Bitcoin because Bitcoin is for everything not only a specific platform.

This is nothing to be compared to bitcoin how can it possibly happen that the Facebook coin will be another bitcoin simply because Facebook is the team behind it, and again on the regulatory status it does not happen like that government have laws and to get a regulatory framework for a crypto coin is not that easy so many coins have tried to achieve the full regulations but have not succeeded. Any way we will keep looking out for how the coin will perform in the market.

I know this news is quite big, and makes some crypto lovers happy. With AT & T supporting Bitcoin and BCH before, now the Facebook discourse will be realized.

And in my opinion, this time Facebook won't use crowdfunding through third parties like the IEO. In fact, they can still collect funding targets through ICO, or without ICO, many investors have been interested in funding this project.

On the other hand, I had guessed a few months ago when there was a thread discussing this Facebook coin. They certainly won't use a decentralized system for their coins. Because Facebook itself is a business company.

i dont think it will become the rival of bitcoin
i know its supported by facebook but the thing is bitcoin is supported by mulitple giant website
you can use bitcoin to pay in different website now almost all the exchange support it as main currency
there also a lot of physical store accepting bitcoin now
even the coin is back up by facebook it cannot become a rival if you can only use it in facebook or few website
but i think it will be good support for adoption for bitcoin but also for crypto

I don't know if this Facebook coin can rival the popularity of Bitcoin in terms of cryptocurrency. There are many coins emerged to be rival of Bitcoin but none of them come any closer to what it has accomplished. But maybe if the technology that this fbcoin can lure people the it might give a good fight on bitcoins competition in the market.

From your topic, Globlecoin will be a centralized stable coin controlled by Facebook company for payment purpose. And this will in no way rivalry the bitcoin, bitcoin technology will be superior to that of Facebook coin and of course bitcoin is controlled by no one and this will ensure maximum trust on its network. It's good Facebook will be having a stablecoin, this will enhance their business.

I see Facebook as a big rivals of many coins and yes even bitcoin, because I believe its not just about facebook its about many companies that is under facebook and that's why its called "Globalcoin".

Remember the many acquisitions of facebook? They can use it to make their market huge and available around the world.
Here's the list of many companies under facebook.
Facebook Acquisitions (https://www.techwyse.com/blog/infographics/facebook-acquisitions-the-complete-list-infographic/) - I don't know if this thing is legit but I'm pretty sure a big company like Facebook have a lot of sister company.

Its a new coin yes, its market would be more tham Bitcoin yes, but FB coin is only for facebook. I bet you"ll be only able to use this coin inside FB that is how facebook will make money on it. I doubt it, they have a better plan and Facebook is not the only platform to use Globalcoin.

This kind of challenges is a healthy one in the market I still believe on bitcoin and I know it will remain on top maybe Facebook coin have a better chance to enter into top 5 coins, let's see this.

If this is going to be a stable coin and just for facebook purposes I'm pretty sure it won't click that hard to become a bitcoin's rival in the future in the market. This has been tackled for about a year if this coin will really hit the market and I don't really think it would but somehow many will check it and probably invest to it since it is handled by Mark's team.

It can't be a rival if its a stablecoin, it is however going to make bitcoin a lot valuable in the future because its going to be a vindication the blockchain is indeed being used not just to any cryptocurrency but facebook's globalcoin. why do they have to take it this long, 2020 is so far away to anticipate yet.

with the way Zuckerberg is hyping his coin and also the way the cryptocurrencies (blockchain in general) is hyped, there is a good chance that this project is going to become big in the sense that it can raise a lot of money (maybe billions even) and becomes super pumped and hyped up.
there is also the benefit of bitcoin being on the rise which will always hype everything up even more which can lead to their increased hyped up state.

but at the end of the day even if 1 FBcoin were worth 10 billion dollar, it still is going to be inferior to bitcoin because it is centralized. not to mention that Facebook is known for exploiting all your personal information so expect all your transactions to be reported to multiple government agencies right away.

This currency will become very famous and worthy as long as facebook corporation is running. Some of my friend now begin to leave facebook and prefer like to use instagram. Basicaly facebook has so many competitors which has many advantages. So I am not sure that this currency will become bitcoin rival.

Is this a joke OP?  Facebook may have their user base but I doubt that it is enough for this to rival Bitcoin.  As for me, I am not happy using facebook especially when they introduce messenger.  It is very intrusive if there is other messaging platform to use and contact my friends, but most of them are in FB so there is no other choice for me.

For sure it will be hyped out as Mark's name is already at stake, but since that we all anticipating this coin will be a centralized one then the essence of crypto will no longer be anonymous, let things happened and allow the fate of this what we called Global coin revealed itself and see how things will work for the project.

Correct, whatever coojn coming after bitcoin all those consider as altcoins only. So no need to worry about any world giants. They may make the money from the newbies of this crypto currency market.

Whatever coins comes those coins may get the some place as like that FB or global coin those will be settled in top 100 coins.

I do not think that Facebook coins will compete with Bitcoin, and in my opinion it is not possible and previously there were many new coins that thought they could compete with Bitcoin but in reality it did not happen.
what is because Facebook is the most popular social media and very many users, it's not a guarantee because what I see is that all Facebook users only rely on all kinds of socialization that makes them feel happy to vent their boredom as their friends at any time and besides can search for news and information and much more.
so what I mean is from all Facebook users, not necessarily all their users want or are interested in having Facebook coins and maybe only most of them understand and know about digital currency or crytpocurrency.

It would not be a rival to bitcoin as it serves a completely different purpose.
The Global coin would be used as a payment system within the Facebook ecosystem. For the system to work properly, it should have lower fees and higher supply. If it's nature were to be like bitcoin, it would be of no use. So, let's not compare bitcoin and digital utility tokens.

In crypto market, nothing can be said for sure previously. Although, in reality Facebook business is famous for a technology field, we completely cant make sure whether or not it can beat bitcoin position. As we all know, bitcoin is well-known as the king of crypto market, it's the most dominant coin of the crypto market as a whole, still bitcoin keeps its position almost all people believe in it. Because bitcoin is considered a symbol of cryptocurrency, i don't think facebook's new coin can be a new bitcoin. However, it's just a prediction; thus, every can happen on contrary way.

Firstly, the OP statement have clearly proof that the facebook(Globalcoin) will nothing but a coin just like the XRP, NEO, IOST etc which have a huge support from powerful people in the world. Aside, just because alot of many big investors lining up to raise fund for the GlobalCoin does mean it will be a threat to bitcoin for the government are must powerful I know and they are unable to beat bitcoin. Why would GlobalCoin be a threat?

Why would anyone pick that particular altcoin over a thousand others that together have yet to surpass Bitcoin? We are talking about anti privacy Zuckerberg here, his mind can't possibly deviate much of that from a government: Centralization, control, and therefore, weak. He is too late to the game...

Let me tell you something: I predict this altcoin is going to be neglected hard. Almost all of them are. Facebook? pfff. Its actually a bad association, a minus rather than a plus.

The best you can do when promoting your altcoin, is projecting its technical merits, and leave the backers last. It tells me nothing Zuckerberg and Facebook are behind, but the white paper and source code does. What could they possibly add to the altcoin ecosystem to warrant any attention, beyond Facebook? If anything they are noobs, and have a bad history over the running of Facebook, hostile to Bitcoin, data mining, selling of user data, censorship, hacks, the story of Facebook is more something to be ashamed of.

I wouldn't be surprised Microsoft and Apple come with their little altcoins too.  Don't you notice there are too many altcoins? The best of them (alone) can't be considered a rival, yet.

What if he launched this 5 or 8 years ago? Then your excitement would have some merit, but now? Too late, the space is crowded. Want success? Adopt Bitcoin, or at least one of the best contenders into your platform before thinking of making "yet another one".

Mark Zuckerberg was a guy everyone like his invention in terms of social media which I believe that reputation will give him chance to get many support from varities of invest but we're talking about crypto currencies here not social media.
I once said it in some of my previous post that crypto market have changed and how a certain coin will survive in the market are not measure through thr hype, concept, TPS and previous record for it measure through the attribute I mentioned bitcoin wont have be the top coin till date.

Therefore, i dont see the coin in subject as a rival to bitcoin.

Mark Zuckerberg not just the emperor of the social media but also the king of cryptocurrency?

I wanted to correct some wrong presumption made by the OP about the words "Mark Zuckerberg not just the emperor of the social media but also the king of cryptocurrency?" Mark will never be king of crypto currency and he's like Gary, Ver etc which are crypto enthuaist because we crypto communities are the king of crypto currencies.

you think that this should be treated just like a normal (though it is very big) project which might also go wrong if the market will not be responding positively?

The project will be big just the rest of other centralized coin which were supported by the institutions and government but it doesnt mean that it will surpass the potential of bitcoin.

What is your opinion with the foray of Mark into cryptocurrency and will Globalcoin one day be a rival to that of Bitcoin?

I respect the fact that Mark step into crypto currency because I believe his intention was one of the reason why we have some group of banks coming together raise a fund in other to create their own crypto because they want to be left behind. But, that doesnt make Globalcoin a rival to bitcoin because it will always be on the list of altcoin.

enslavement coin coming right up.

Probably so. They do have the data of everyone on it. There will be no escape soon once you are on their radar. We've all seen the issues they were into years ago. Privacy isn't as important to some people though as long as they get money, they could input everything including thee names of their kids, photos and even bloodtype.

They may distribute the coins to facebook users and by that all users will have their own wallet on thie facebook account but before receiving they may have to enter more information and bank account probably.

Facebook is involving in the crypto, it is very big news for the crypto community and this thing will bring more people on the board and crypto may be accepted widely. But is FB coin a rival of Bitcoin? Never! The Facebook coin will be used to buy the FB ads and features, it is like the JPM coin! We can get another centralized coin called Facebook or Global coin, but that will not be the rival of Bitcoin. Actually, Bitcoin has no rival, It is the base of crypto, whatever coin or tech comes, they will not be a rival for bitcoin!

I believe that mark is not a stupid man and he will do everything at the highest level. Of course there is a chance that something may go wrong, that the project for some reason will not gain due popularity, but I think that Mark will succeed. People trust him and investors who will want to invest in this project will be really very much.

I not say is bad that new coins coming, but i don't think Facebook coin will be more used than Bitcoin and i also think Bitcoin will be for long time number 1 on capitalization and always more money will be put on bitcoin than on altcoins. But indeed we also need some new coins because maybe only on this way new people will come and after see how works a crypto coin will buy also bitcoin.

Mark Zuckerberg and facebook are not known for the best of user privacy and i am not sure what they are planning to do with the coin, until there is a working model or a prototype or a white paper regarding the details, i will not trust them in any way possible, what ever coin anyone can come up with, no one can rival bitcoin, all these coins are just replica of bitcoin and just claiming to better, time and market will dictate their fate.

I think FB coin will not be able to compete with BTC in prices like today, although we know Zuckerberg has business skills in social media but entering the crypto world is still counted as a beginner. Indeed the price of FB coin is expected to rival BTC but I think the community has a special part in increasing or decreasing prices.

Fundamentally this will create a positive trend for all cryptocurrency, especially Bitcoin. At least there are already several large companies that are starting to want to adapt the cryptocurrency.

For rivals I don't think it is very influential, because actually bitcoin has never been displaced by other altcoins as long as the first bitcoin is in the world. Even the ethereum which is being held has all the advantages of innovation cannot outperform the capital of Bitcoin.

It's too early to say whether Facebook's coin will be a bitcoin rival. We still don't know the economic model and governance model of their coin. We have to wait for a detailed information about the coin before we come to a conclusion.

We have to ask ourselves after we get detailed information and roadmap about the coin whether it is truly decentralized like bitcoin, what will be the total coin supply, what will be the initial coin allocation and how many coins will be held by Facebook team etc. in order to decide whether it can be a bitcoin rival.

Therefore, let's wait and see what will Zuckerburg bring to the table with his coin to become a bitcoin rival.

As other's have pointed out, it could be a stable coin so there's no rivalry here. But it could potentially disrupt the remittances industry and I'm sure that's what Mark is targeting with this coin. It could be altcoin, but the thing is, this might be very centralised and the ledger only privy to their company. So no correlation whatsoever to bitcoin or even considered it a rival.

Globalistcoin? It will be just more one altcoin among hundreds of them. Only bitcoin is the king of crypto currency. Zuckerberg can use all his influence, money and his gift of the gab to promote his currency, but it will still be an altcoin.
Although I don't doubt it will be a strong centralized altcoin, it's going to have potential to reach the crypto currency top 10.

(I think this thread fits altcoin discussion section).

News outlets certainly like to spice up their headlines. I'm not sure what the point is of referring to this as a rival for Bitcoin when it concerns a stablecoin. It will rival Bitcoin in the way that it offers more stability?  :D

In all seriousness, if this stablecoin is free to transfer from exchange to exchange without KYC bullshit, it will prop up the price of Bitcoin instead of harming it, because that's what every single stablecoin has done so far.

Maybe that this stablecoin will be able to usurp a significant enough chunk of Tether's market share. We'll see how it goes, but it will do more good than harm for Bitcoin and the rest of the cryptos.

But remember facebook has got two failed when he tried to make a payment system. One is facebook credit and two facebook massenger payment the both system has gone away from time to time. Now, he comes back again with a news system that called as global coin but I don't think he will be success again. Moreover, to beat out bitcoin as payment system because the system are really different. Remember with decentralized system and centralized system becuase the both things are very predispose now. We can talk to all people here who likes cryptocurrency, what will you choose between bitcoin and global coin? It seems like what will you choose between decentralized system and centralized system. It is not good to say a new rival especially you are the old user of bitcoin.

Facebook has plans to make coins with a stable coin concept and centralized.  it will be difficult to compete with BTC.  Facebook will compete with other stable coins such as USDT.  Facebook utilities cannot catch the crypto king.

An FB coin, if it becomes another stable coin, even theoretically cannot be compared not only with Bitcoin, nor with other popular types of cryptocurrencies. Especially, if this coin will be used mainly on Facebook. This will be another centralized coin and I do not think it will be in great demand. We still know little about its functionality. In general, I believe that a large amount and diversity in cryptocurrency will only benefit its development. Let the FB coin prove its usefulness, and we will see what happens.

i don't think global coin is competing with bitcoin and will be a rival of btc. but maybe, the usage of globalcoin might be huge as facebook followers alone has huge number. it is interesting how this coin will perform in the market. i guess Zuckerberg will not let this coin be a flop in the crypto market...

Well, that coin may be promising and can be rival for some certain altcoins.

I think it needs more times to be able to do that. A new coin will not be as easy to compete with the BTC. However, we cannot say what will happen to the future. Just follow the situation of this crypto world.

It is true that the Facebook coin that will come out will have some value and many investors will go for it, since it is already a well established company with a large number of users it won't be a surprise if it had a partial success, i mean look at binance and how its coin took off just because it is a well know exchange in the crypto market, that being said i don't think that it will come even closer to competing with bitcoin and none is or will be, because there are a really large number of people using bitcoin that the people that are interested in using the Facebook coin to buy and sell thing on the Facebook marketplaces.

The plunge of Mark Zuckerberg as the richest businessman in the world will make crypto progress. But that does not mean it does not cause negative effects. Moreover, Mark Zuckerberg with all the financial resources and high internet technology capabilities can bring a big influence to GlobalCoin. What is very unfortunate is that Mark Zuckerberg does not use the existing blockchain system, so the blockchain that has a low influence on crypto will be difficult to rise. My opinion is that GlobalCoin will compete with the top 10 coins at the moment.

This can put a lot of pressure on the top 10 coins but not bitcoin because we still know who started this market and the price of altcoins still depend on bitcoin. Why is this even a concern? There are around 4000 altcoins tokens in existence (actually I guess maybe much more but most are not listed or dead anyway). Each of them are a rival to Bitcoin if you think about it, and yet each of them will always fail to make Bitcoin come unstuck.

Check our Flippening of Ethereum on Google and see the ridiculous notions they have had about being top.

Anyway, Market Cap Number 1 or not doesn't matter to Bitcoin.

I don't see this as a rival to Bitcoin. One thing we should know is that, Bitcoin didn't just grow, it passed through stages, passed through badmouthing and took years to get where it is now. So there is no project which can pass through the same phases as Bitcoin as the crypto space and the world is now kinda fair unlike when Bitcoin started.
Bitcoin has no rival as it is and will remain the top cryptocurrency.

I agree with you so well on this because I know that they are just creating this because they have made name for themselves and know that once people here that it is crypto related, they will definitely want to participate in it, though it would be of great help to the crypto world because it would help in creating more awareness to crypto market, and making more people than usual begin to trust in the market, so it's good we welcome it.

To begin with, this is a good new quite alright, as one after the other they are changing their mindset about blockchain and the cryptocurrency, reason being that they don't want to miss out.
On the other hand, saying this coin will be Bitcoin rival is kind of an insult to Bitcoin owing to the fact it ( Bitcoin) didn't grow due to hype, but it grew due to what it offers, it underlying technologies, potentials etc which didn't happen in a day but took years. Then all of a sudden Facebook coin which is yet to start it's journey in the crypto world is now a rival.
Let's take a while and study Bitcoin then we will know who truly will remain the number 1 coin.

We may hear too much about the existence of certain coins that will become heavy rivals and maybe even replace the position of Bitcoin. But until now has this been proven?
The answer, "absolutely not".
This is due to several factors. Aside from BTC being the first crypto coin, BTC is also crypto that is most loved and trusted by investors, token holders and traders. This coin can also be used at several merchants. Value BTC is increasing every day. So, I feel doubtful if crypto initiated by Facebook can be a substitute or a tough rival for BTC for now.

As some recent rumors pointed out, Facebook's Globalcoin is deemed a stable coin, running on its own blockchain. Obviously a private own coin can't be something like bitcoin. It's more like XRP and totally against cryptocurrency's legacy. Even if facebook coin will be warmly welcomed, there's no way it could replace bitcoin.
Yes, facebook coins will be very difficult to replace bitcoin even though in public the response is very good, but to replace bitcoin will be very difficult to do, especially they are new coins even though born from a large company.

There's should not be an ICO for this soon to be launch coin from Facebook, it's going to be a big joke if they are going to launch one, I don't see this shooting to the top 10 as soon it's launch, not because Facebook is the biggest social networking sites, they have to offer something not just their payment processor to be able to beat the top coin in the market.

Am actually also seeing a possibility of a strict competition for bitcoin if this eventually becomes a realistic project. Yet, i know bitcoin will do all it can in full capacity to remain up there..

Nice write up but I don't agree with the topic. Facebook coin sounds great since it will pull in more crowd into the crypto ecosystem, and also drive towards adoption of crypto. But referring to it or probably asking a question if it's a bitcoin rival is far fetched. Definitely a great one but never going to be a Bitcoin rival. Moreover, rumours have it that it will be a stable coin.

Honestly I just heard this news and it looks like the name is bigger because it uses the global word "world", I haven't read the concept even the system at all but in my opinion this will indeed be a strong rival for Bitcoin. People have known Bitcoin for a long time and have collaborated with many large companies even though they have not yet been approved, we are just waiting for who is better.

this good news certainly brings fresh air to crypto, the existence of fb coin shows the development of crypto which began to be looked at by many companies, but I am not sure that fb coin will be a rival of bitcoin, in my opinion fb coins will only be potential and strong coins in the market but still can't compete with bitcoin

Same here , i dont also read the info about this upcoming coin from fb but i can sense that this is the next big thing and it maybe a big threat to btc  .

Considering the vast coverage of facebook and its influence in the social media, most likely the coin that facebook will introduce will surely make an impact on the cryptocurrency world. But, challenging bitcoin and other top altcoins is hard to tell especially that it hasn't been launched. Let's see when that time comes.

I do not know if it would be centralized but it would be an extra addition to the crypto space and I believe it will spread the word faster than the existing process. Facebook coin would gain big value in future if it is introduced in the market because like BNB-backed by Binance, Facebook coin will be backed by Facebook and might have good demand.

all still depend on what Facebook coins will be used for. there is a possibility that there will be some additional features for people who work on Facebook like game players who broadcast live on Facebook. because they might get money from Facebook coins and advertisements.

Yes, the Facebook stablecoin is everything the industry has worked to fight against: it is centralized, requires the loss of privacy to use, and is reportedly going to be made up of a basket of fiat currencies with the blessing of central bankers. Nonetheless, it may help to bring more interest to virtual currencies.

I doubt if this will be a rival worth the attention, this is just another altcoin joining many others in line. Think about it , we have over a thousand of altcoins that have tried and failed to kick btc off it's throne or keep bitcoin in the shadows, what makes this any different despite riding on the success of  "facebook"?

Honestly there are so many unanswered questions surrounding this,
  • how many facebook members are ready to use cryptos?
  • does facebook understand crypto because they are new to this ecosystem
  • how is the coin going to benefit them or it's users
As a matter of fact the coming of "globalcoin" will give bitcoin a platform to be come more popular and powerful coin!

If this is going to happened it will be really hard for the FB coin to enter cryptocurrency because this is a very fast rising market and FB coin is just a centralized stable coin which we don’t know if they can handle crypto market. I think that this advertisement is just used to make money like to make their company popular. I’m sure that they will not enter cryptocurrency but right now they are earning ton of billions. But if they do they will be just like those altcoins who tried but failed miserably but I don’t know that really I guess we just have to wait and watch.

That's obviously, people are using bitcoin for one exact reason, DECENTRALIZED and the fact that no company or government owns it. there's no way coin that's created by facebook, a big company will pick bitcoin users' interest, well maybe there's some people but using coin issued by facebook is as bad as using paypal, that's only my guess though.

It's not just because it was added after ETH on the site, not just because it has a good rank in coinmarketcap. The reason why people use it, especially me in yolo, is because it is cheap and with a low amount of money, you will get more coins if you turn it into a doge and you will have more chances to bet. Hello, I am new to the platform, I have many Doge, I would like to know if the chances of playing with only Doge is better or increases the chances of winning ?? Or is it better to pass it to bitcoin? And if you can go inside the direct platform from DOGE to Bitcoin.

The current bitcoin position is very strong because being the first, investors will always make the bitcoin a measure of whether the market is red or green, and it is difficult for rivals to be able to replace bitcoin for the next 5 years.

Facebook Coin is made to be a rival to Bitcoin, assuming that many Facebook members become investors so that the price of coins is expected to be high soon. Of course the wish of a coin maker like that, and in my opinion there is nothing wrong.
But in reality it is not necessarily as expected, because the highest altcoin price is Ethereum which has not reached a quarter of the price of bitcoin. For example, Alibabacoin, which is predicted to have high prices because it is affiliated with a large company, even only costs US $ 0.2558. So dreams aren't necessarily a reality.

Bitcoin symbolizes cryptocurrency, we have so many coins around that was built with huge funding and some with a huge market cap that are over a billion, but still, Bitcoin always made the headlines, I don't think Facebook's Globalcoin is going to be a threat it can zoom to the top but never surpass Bitcoin.

No way that it can rival Bitcoin at all. It will be popular, no question. Because of the brand behind it together with Mark Zuckerberg itself, huge potential because of a big personality behind it. Same way with Ecomi that has one of the founders of Pokemon (http://ecomi.com?utm_source=ecomilx) that may possibly disrupt the collectibles space. Will Globalcoin have a potential to be a top 20 coin? No doubt, I can see a lot of investors and supporters behind this globalcoin but I think it's not gonna get nowhere near eth and btc.

It's not setting out as a bitcoin rival. It's a stablecoin to be used within Facebook. But I suppose given how Facebook is, we can't rule out the possibility that it will start to extend beyond that, with companies outside Facebook accepting the coin as payment. Facebook certainly have the financial muscle to make this into a huge thing.

If facebook will going to be the one to manage their so-called coin, then there is a higher chance that it will going to be regulated. They will just going to make sure they have their own blockchain to manage their coin well. And what I can see in there, is a great market adoption that will going to happen. We just need to wait and see what it is capable of.

Right perception about the Bitcoin is that if the Bitcoin’s demand goes down and those of any other coin outperforms the Bitcoin then consider the crypto will never exist. The crypto market is all about the Bitcoin and if it is going to die only the Bitcoin can do it because crypto appeared when Bitcoin born. Facebook will no doubt achieve high rating after they are done with coin announcement but not more than Bitcoin.

Yes, that will be too hard to compete with bitcoin, which already lead the cryptocurrency unless Facebook has something different than bitcoin, and they can offer better technology.
But if they don't have one, then I don't think they will be able to compete with the other coins because Facebook still needs to see their chances to survive in the market.
That will be a difficult job for Facebook to survive in the market especially we know that in the crypto market, there will be a bear trend and bull trend which we don't know when it's arrived.

I don't think there will be competition between them. Bitcoin and Facebook coins might be cryptocurrency that has their own function. different technologies by adopting blockchain for social media I think there are already a number of ICO projects that we can make reference to. but maybe the consideration is that Facebook already has a community and maybe their own market. it will be very strong support for facebook coins on the market.

Yes, people acceptance will be the key if ever this GlobalCoin from Facebook will really compete or overpower bitcoin, there's no limitations around'this industry, if this new coin arise that strong there's no chance for bitcoin to stop it but accept that the new system are much appreciated.

From the moment of its appearance, Bitcoin remains the leader of all cryptocurrencies for many years. There are already a lot of projects launched, but they all cannot compete with Bitcoin in price. Facebook is the world's leading social network. The digital currency from Mark Zuckerberg will surely achieve some kind of success. But it’s too early to talk about competition with Bitcoin, while the expected project has not yet been implemented.

every coin has its own advantages and disadvantages, but here I still haven't fully learned about Facebook coins, but if you say if the Facebook coin is a competitor of bitcoin then it is very unlikely because Facebook can compete with bitcoin or maybe never will can compete

I see no reason where this will beat btc in crypto market as it will definitely be paired with btc and the btc rules the crypto community.

It might have a very fast growing and gain much investors but definitely will start from somewhere like other great coin in market today , even if that makes it surge with sharp move doesn't mean it will beat btc and if goes up , it will surely come down too. But I think it will be a very good project and fast growing one.

No one can beat bitcoin even from big company or someone already have big name. If we talking about cryptocurrency especialy bitcoin its like we talking about KING of cryptocurrency and Mother of crypto, whitout bitcoin we will never know about altcoin or anything what we know now. Globalcoin just stablecoin backup and monitoring by company. Still earlier talking about competition with bitcoin even facebook leading social media platform.

I heard that facebook creating their own coin and some people say that this is the rival of bitcoin and that is i did not believe because bitcoin is more on popularity and high demand for many people, compared to facebook they are facing first many trials here in cryptocurrency.
How would they compare an established project to that which is yet to be established? And moreover, if Facebook does that, it will confirm that he has nothing but to be stealing people’s ideas. For the fact he was able to buy whatsapp, instagram and some social media over to stay on top of the social media, doesn’t mean he will succeed in doing such in cryptocurrency industry.

Facebook will even not do that because it will make government clamp down on him, except he is creating a centralized coin that will enable government to still be able to monitor its revenue activities.

It’s amazing how people carry rumors without official link to it, what guarantee do we have that all these things we are hearing about fbcoin is not just coined by one drunkard because all these while we have been speaking of fbcoin, I have never seen mark Zuckerberg come out openly to confirm the news of the coin.

I am sure there will be a project called global coins, but I doubt if it will associated to Facebook, someone might just be using it as strategy to get people’s attention either to dupe them or creating hype for the coin using Facebook name as marketing strategy because I remember we once said the Facebook coin will, be called fbcoin, now its global coin again.

If facebook will going to be the one to manage their so-called coin, then there is a higher chance that it will going to be regulated. They will just going to make sure they have their own blockchain to manage their coin well. And what I can see in there, is a great market adoption that will going to happen. We just need to wait and see what it is capable of.
Who else do you think will be managing the coin other than Facebook, you can see that bitcoin has tried everything possible to enjoy the monopoly they have for social media platforms which they already succeed in achieving, because as of now, they have most social media users and most of the social media platforms.

This blockchain industry they have entered, I am sure they will also try to use their influence to monopolies it by creating a regulated coin and then presenting the solution to the government which government will really support because this has been what government wanted all along.

To me, once the decentralized nature is taking out, that particular coin ceases to be a cryptocurrency. Mark's Facebook platform might have numerous users but his coin might be useless if its users are not crypto oriented. All the same, we can't just  condemn him. For now, let's give him the benefit of the doubt.

Any coin hitting the market maybe a rival to other established coins. And we all know that Facebook is most popular and is being used by majority of the populations. And there is high chance for the coin issued by Facebook to get widespread attention. But I cannot say that the facebook issued coin will replace bitcoin, a legacy coin in the future.

That's true, they created their own blockchain system and it will be hard for a new system to attract investors but consider on the wealth of Mark Zuckerberg, I think he can encourage more investors to come and try their system. This can put a lot of pressure on the top 10 coins but not bitcoin because we still know who started this market and the price of altcoins still depend on bitcoin. Let's read more about the Globalcoin and wait for the Whitepaper from there, we can see a big potential of that coin or its just another utility token who will dump later on.
But I am sure if GlobalCoin is present, they will be able to boost higher prices. They will impose rules to pay for Facebook ads with GlobalCoin. We can see today how many companies use Facebook services to promote their companies. I think GlobalCoin is not in vain. Not to mention the many investors who will join GlobalCoin.

Before the arrival of global coin by Facebook, it's got a lot of hype, but saying that it is bitcoin rival, is too much of a hype for it.
Imagine a coin that is yet to lunch, yet you are saying it can favourably compete with bitcoin.
Well, i think I am one of those waiting for this coin to much and I think I will take part in it.

The realization that this kind of project is centralized will get different approaches from  different types of investors, those who did not value the essence of decentralization will favor this project but those who still loves it will not favor dealing with this.

Another question, can it survive what Bitcoin passed through over the years? The badmouthing etc.

I don't think coin from Facebook  is intended to rival Bitcoin. Facebook coin would be a totally utlity coin probably restricted within the Facebook platform of Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp, Instragram and other services provided by Facebook. It could be used as a payment gateway and even if it had speculative value, it would not be in low supply.

This is only a discourse that does not necessarily happen and in my opinion it will not be possible and no one can compete with Bitcoin, and bitcoin to achieve the highest price requires a long process and a very long time.
Facebook coins have not yet been launched but guessing will rival Bitcoin without going through a long process, I think that is not possible.

I think you mentioned bitcoin rival to get a lot of attention to your write up, everyone knows that it will be difficult to rival bitcoin in the scheme of things, Bitcoin has already taken the center stage in the scheme of things and every other one will be coming behind. Coming from Facebook, I wouldn't be expecting much as this is not the niche, crypto is entirely a discrete and decentralized payment system, I doubt if Facebook would be able to provide that without option of reveal the user's data or personal details.

A centralized currency can not mean real competition for bitcoin, since taking into account that it will be available to Facebook users, it is a fact that privacy will never be a factor in our favor. In addition, Facebook is facing many challenges in terms of its decline in popularity and its tendency to technological monopoly.

Maybe some speculators will be able to invest in that coin looking for some economic benefit, but those same investors will always have bitcoin as a safe haven and as a preferred cryptocurrency.

It is just common to have a rivalry in the market as the competition rises. We know bitcoin already as a potential investment but we can't disclose any instances that there is another coin that could break it. We can just take a look at how this new coin would sustain the market especially when a crisis arises. Just like it happens to BCH, it has a good start but in the later part, it gives up. It could possibly to happen also in the next coin.

how many altcoins or projects have already tried their very best to beat bitcoin? how many of them claimed to be more powerful than btc. where are they now? how many of them sustained to be alive and struggling?
fb coin might be different because of the known founders and their name is already established in social media but how it would affect its users is another thing? would the adoption be as easy as 1 2 3? would they gladly use it for whatever tx it is aimed for?
many things to be uncovered. Too early to deduce anything

Facebook's new cryptocurrency is reported to be a stablecoin for members to use for payments and its full specifications haven't been released yet, however, it is not likely to be a direct rival to Bitcoin which is decentralized, is widely considered to be a digital version of gold and a future store of value and it should only benefit from the increased exposure this venture can provide for the cryptocurrency industry
For the fact that it is Facebook, and giant of all social media doesn’t mean it can stand some giants of cryptocurrency, it will be impossible for Facebook to be in the struggle with Bitcoin, because there usefulness will not even be the same and even if they have something similar, the community will not accept a coin that is going to be more like a centralized coin.

We all know how Facebook has done all its best to dominate anything he feels he can dominate and also making money of selling people’s data, so I think this time around, he can only create a coin that will be useful within its system and not a global coin.

I think price would tell if the facebook coin would be as great as bitcoin. If its productivity is going to be good as bitcoin, then it may compete to the greatness of bitcoin. But if not, its just an ordinary altcoin that has a value in the market. Bitcoin can never be having a revival unless the price and volume of that coin gets close to it.

Will need to see how much effective and useful FB coin would be because with the last data leak of the customers data people refrain using the FB and if it gets more intense than people would be least interested din their coin as well. BTC should be the king for next few years in coming time .

People will buy Facebook ad through this coin! Actually, We should wait for the whitepaper first, we will see then what plan Facebook has! But I am sure, it is not a rival for the Bitcoin!

Facebook are stable coin like USDT and 1=1 and isn't like Bitcoin. No, They can't be affected to Bitcoin, Facebook only FOMO blockchain technology and they only want famous and to be glamour have own blockchain technology to compare same bitcoin.

It is always a welcome move by Facebook, the social  media giant, to involve in cryptocurrency. This move will encourage the market to grow and become stable over time. I don't think it is a bitcoin rival. Facebook coin will be more like a USDT rival as it should be a stable coin and if people can trade it. But this coin can help for the growth of the cryptos market.

If this global coin or facebook coin to be like USDT, i dont think we should worry because its still called centralized cryptocurrency and people prefer choosing decentralized cryptocurrency. But its good idea for facebook to launch their own cryptocurrency, they already have big members all around the world and this potential for facebook to monetize their members

Many coins already stated that they will be the new rival of BTC, but all of them failed. We can say the same too for the token that Facebook will be releasing in 2020, specially that their token will cater at a certain market as opposed on what BTC is catering right now. As we see it BTC is catering to the whole cryptocurrency market as a whole, because it is the main trading pair for many altcoins and it consists of more than 50% of the market.

then to even suggest that some stablecoin from Facebook would replace anything..

I agree, but as far as i know, Globalcoin is a stable asset just like the others, which has no possibility of price movements, and still i bet bitcoin would still be the best without any rivals.

Libra is one of the stable coins, and none of the stable coins can compete not only with Bitcoin, but generally with any decentralized cryptocurrency. It is vseravno what to compare decentralized cryptocurrency with non-cash forms of payments of conventional currencies. Yes, they have a large volume of transactions, but this is a completely different form of payment.
Coin Libra is not a full-fledged cryptocurrency, because it can not be profitable. Therefore, do not worry about Bitcoin, it will be all right.

Which is mean are you think that libra coin will be a very good rival for bitcoin? You make a same point between ETH and Tron and also you will feel it with bitcoin and libra. I don't think like that, Libra has a different function with bitcoin, has different system with bitcoin and its stable coin. It is not a rival to be honest. I guess the most challenging rival of Libracoin is the people themselves, or perhaps the governments that have long been holding trust issues with Facebook. It does not really hurt Bitcoin. It will, on the contrary, boost the reputation of Bitcoin. Facebook's step is simply a huge, loud and clear, affirmation that Bitcoin indeed is the future, that crypto is the way we have in the years to come.

if its really a stable coin i dont think many people will buy it because stable coins cant be profitable since their value is stable at 1usd .

alot of investors will go for more volatile type coins like bitcoin because this is the only way that they can profit  . while some will still buy a stable coin for security purpose ( e.g securing the value of thier cryptos when they are about to cash out )  .

its not about being stable or not but its about facebook  . many users dont trust facebok because they are exploiting our data's  therfor not all are going to support the coin that facebook develops  .

We have been hearing about these rivals for almost 10 years. Back in 2011-12, it was Litecoin and Namecoin. Then in 2015, it was Ethereum. Two years later, it was the turn of third generation cryptocurrencies such as Cardano and NEO. But one thing is clear. Irrespective of the technology, none of these coins will ever be able to overtake BTC. I don't even want to mention Libra. It is a centralized shitcoin.

It's not easy to be able to compete with Bitcoin, let alone replace the position of Bitcoin as the king of cryptocurrency, Libra coins have not been launched and will be released in 2020 and in my opinion is too excessive if it is said to compete with bitcoin because libra coins have not been launched.
Bitcoin is the most popular coin among other coins, and even though Libra coins will be launched later it seems too early to compete with bitcoin and must go through a long process.

No doubt Facebook coin will be a great one in the crypto space and it will also bring about more adoption of cryptocurrency in the world. Having said that, Facebook coin will be a centralized coin because of its economic model and with its centralization features, I don't see it as a rival to bitcoin. Facebook coin will be great but I don't think it can come close to be a bitcoin rival.

Now such huge projects can not exist without the introduction of new tools. Therefore, popular projects will soon get more successful products.have good control over their cryptocurrency portfolio.

I agree with you that Libra coin does not compete with Bitcoin, because in my opinion it will maximize Facebook as a social media that has very many members, for payment or trade transactions using crypto coins of its own.
In addition, the Facebook platform will be augmented with financial business features that reach the entire world, where transactions can take place in minutes. Very prospective in my opinion, so there is no need to compare or align with bitcoin, because the segments are different.

Global Coin is only one of the new competitors of Bitcoin. Many bitcoin competitor coins are still competing to gain public trust. Indeed we must be open with the presence of new and more sophisticated technologies. The many competitors of bitcoin actually make us even more proud because the presence of this new technology is certainly an improvement from the previous technology. We will become easier in financial transactions if new technologies emerge. I think that we must always think positively.

Definitely there will be a huge interest to the coin that Mark is going to release. For investors it will be a great chance to earn. But personally, I very much doubt Mark himself.  I think that this is the person who will easily carry out the installations of the American government, and this makes me tense up. I think that this project will give us many surprises, so always remain attentive.

Facebook is here more than 10 years and in this long time period nothing replaced Bitcoin. And Libra coin haven´t any chance to beat Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency with the most safest decentralized network. What can Libra offer?  :D

I am even thinking of those who will invest in thus so called Libra coin, that is called a stable coin. The question I keep asking myself is, do we even need it? What is the essence of it, if jot to enrich themselves.
Comparing it with bitcoin, sometimes make me doubt the potency and proposed use of it.

Facebook has an owner, BTC doesn`t, it speaks a lot for people who understand crypto revolution and what is decentralization. Stable libra coin to compete with bitcoin? Not a chance, the only advantage Facebook has is in the user base, it`s big, but that advantage will melt down in a couple of years, many people who introduce crypto trough libra coin will transfer their assets to bitcoin and other good coins. It will be a massive boost for crypto community.

This is very well explained. Even though Libra has a diverse set of owners, it still has owners and can be subject to attacks as the hearing on 17th July shows.

I don’t think it will get to that point. Even though Facebook has a very big influence on almost every person in this world, getting such a big company to join the crypto world is going to be a game changer. But it is a stable coin first of all so comparing it with Bitcoin is not correct. But Mark joining the crypto is going to pull a lot of funds; many investors are already very keen on investing in it and have plans to do so. It is a stable coin and meant to be one.
Let’s see in which direction this coin takes the crypto world to, and hopes it is beneficial for the crypto world.

No coin can compete with bitcoin due to the fact that no coin can achieve the same distribution that bitcoin has.
then to even suggest that some stablecoin from Facebook would replace anything..
I do not think bitcoin can be replaced by the facebook coin. Bitcoin already has ten years head start and many developers all over the world, whereas facebook only has its own teams of developers without the experience of bitcoin.

Facebook's GlobalCoin is not a direct rival to Bitcoin which is considered to be "digital gold" and can be used as a store of value with long term investment potential, whereas the former is a stablecoin specifically designed for payment purposes for users of the social media platform

bitcoin yes bitcoin and facebok coins also remained facebook coins. they are clearly different so I don't think that it is a rival to bitcoin. While Bitcoin is the king of cryptoqurrency from the past until now, while Facebook coins are still new, they haven't even appeared in the public.

Mark Zuckerberg is a genius, but the guy can be mistaken as usual people. New coin with its stability and aim can help people escape problems of inflations and make online purchases easy, but it is not a BTC rival.

We all know that this is not going to be rival any time soon and how much will it last to the top value is also a questionable. As it could be just a short time phenomenon and after that people will sell it and many might not even take this coin considering it is coming from the FB who has sold the data.

A stable Libra coin cannot compete with Bitcoin. Stable coins and decentralized cryptocurrency have completely different functions and tasks. This coin, of course, will have a significant impact on the cryptocurrency and, possibly, will divert some funds to itself. However, at the same time, given that Libra will have a digital shell, its use will necessarily draw attention to the decentralized cryptocurrency and contribute to its implementation in our life.

I don't think Facebook Coin (LIBRA) is "the New Bitcoin Rival".

Yes, they've become "the king of Social Media" but not for cryptocurrencies, I don't even think they can "defeat" Ripple on crypto world.
Learn how LIBRA will become and developed makes me think "Isn't this a setback in the crypto world?"
In the name of Cryptocurrencies they launched LIBRA, but in reality they just broke "Decentralize" vision

I don't think Libra would be the rival of bitcoin at all because there are so many people out there including experts and also including me saying and believing that Libra will take a positive effect on bitcoin and into cryptocurrency because of the recognition of it in cryptocurrency to public and social media.
Libra can be also the way for many people to know not just bitcoin but also the whole system of cryptocurrency so we don't need to worry about it at all.

There is still chance t have another coin compete directly with Bitcoin, but not Libra coin. The reason Bitcoin succeed is as a result of many factors, Satoshi deciding to leave the project for others to develop to me create the path for the success of the Network, No one will tell you your fund has been flagged because this will happen remember EOS. To outrun Bitcoin, a rival or competitor must gain global recognition. And Bitcoin itself should be under sanctions.

Nevertheless, America is speaking about freezing this project. They think (I mean people in power) that it can become a real threat to Bitcoin. I am more than sure that many guys from the USA government are BTC holders, and they worry very much about the new crypto coming soon. Although Libra will be a stable coin, it can be a revolutionary release.

I am not sure that there will be coins that are able to compete with bitcoin, including even the Libra. we all know that nowadays everyone is too dependent on bitcoin, besides that the blockchain is made from bitcoin and the others are mostly just imitating. if the competitor exists they must exceed bitcoin in all respects, including the tendency of investors.

And given that the coin will be managed by a corporation that, upon request, will provide user data to the state, its price will be low in the region of a few dollars at best.

It has been obvious for some time now that it is with mass adoption that cryptocurrencies will truly achieve the heights they are supposed to, and along with bitcoin and all the other cryptocurrencies, Facebook Libra coin may be cryptocurrencies that lead us into this era due to their very own capacity.
With Blockchain advancements moving at a very fast rate, the introduction of facebook which is one of the largest tech firms into this space should be accepted.
By the by perhaps the thought is that Facebook as of now has a network and possibly their very own use cases.

Many people have tried it but they failed. If you want to join the crypto industry and be a successful project, it far better to let people know of your protocol rather than trying to tell the community that your project is better than bitcoin. The moment this community sees that you are in war with over 2 million bitcoin lover and imagine if they decide not to follow your project. I know some invest because they are looking for a little profit in the future but they don't take those new projects as better than bitcoin.

Being the first to come up with huge support from the community gives the advantage for Bitcoin. Even if there's already a lot of competition that's been introduced from time to time, but the big success is still enjoyed by Bitcoin. Rivals are there, and eventually, it will create noises around crypto currency. Only time will tell if there's enough reason and finished products to offers.

I agree, this centralized stablecoin cannot compete with decentralized and fair distribution of bitcoin. I wouldn't call this a rival for Bitcoin, facebook stablecoin will be no match for Bitcoin. I can called this a rival of USDT as they are all centralized stablecoin that prints coin if they want to add their holdings and dump it on the market. It surely helps to fasten the adoption of cryptocurrency but it damages it as well in the inside.

With more than 2 billion customers using Facebook and an increasing demand for advertising, it will create a great demand for Libra coin and it will overwhelm Bitcoin in the future.

I ve seen a post somewhere wherein the government is opposing
Libra coin, this coin is what is said to be the next global coin or will be a universal coin why because as we know libra is connected to facebook, this brings issue with the government since face has almost the information of all facebook users, if this coin push through libra will be the dominance coin, but it also brings fear to the market and the people why facebook will have the power to control everything and manipulate it because of the information they have, so I think there will be no rival coming because libra will be stop by lots of country and goverment
