Take qrk.coinmine.pl offline by DDOSing it and the network hashrate is 37.5Mh, very easy to 51% attack.


If you were in the cohort that came to Quark thanks to Bill Still and invested $20k (based on posts in /r/quarkcoin several people did this), your investment is now worth $3,000-$4,000. I'm sure many of those people are delighted that Quark is still in the top 10 mineable currencies.


These are great developments. Now convince people to actually use them! The sum of all transaction fees in a 24hr period is about 0.5 QRK. You aren't going to convince miners to stick around if between txn fees and block rewards they stand to make at best a few cents a day. Increase the number of transaction or increase the fee. Ideally, do both. Suppose I have a bunch of QRK in my Android wallet. What can I spend them on?


Every altcoin has fast transactions. what Quark coin has is fast transaction confirmations. Unfortunately it also have a very high orphan rate which means confirmations are a lot less trustworthy than say, for example in Dogecoin, Litecoin or Bitcoin.


Pump, pump, pump and pretend nothing is wrong. It's a great short term solution.

Well just have patience, it's not a 1 night magic thing alright? These are the current list of Merchant http://www.qrk.cc/merchants/, i'm sure more will follow. I bought clothing and jewellery with my Quarks already and increasing the fee isn't something that can't be done.

An advantage of Quark might be, in this case it was compared with darkcoin, Darkcoin's block generation time is 2.5minutes (150seconds), while Quark is 30 seconds. Which means that Quarks algorithm with an element of randomness (unpredictability) will have to be cracked in 30 seconds to create a double-spend fork, while for Darkcoin this window of opportunity for the attacker is 5 timeslonger: 150 seconds with no element of randomness**.

** Quark is using 9 rounds of hashing: while using 6 rounds from Blake, Blue Midnight Wish, Grøstl, JH, Keccak and Skein it adds 3 more rounds of hashing randomly: so the computer doesn't know whether it will be Keccak or Grøstl or Blake. Potential Cryptos can be pumped why not, promotion is as much as important as it's features and can't be ignored.

Megacoin is nothing to qrk end of story. When qrk implements pos expect huge gains... from then onward and upward. Megacoin is okay. I would recommend at least 7 coins above that.

QRK with POS will be even stronger. I will rate it number 1 after this happens.

Is QRK with PoS ongoing project? I think it will be great.

POS?  I'm not sure that's a good thing for value, put if it strengthens the network it must be good from a security standpoint at least.

POS is one way of changing the miner's incentives in favor of higher network security. Things can be changed, but i'm not a developer.

Can someone elaborate more on POS? So it gives more mining incentive, is there a downside to it?
