Title: [SOLD] Onda B250-D8P mining rig
Post by: JaredKaragen on June 01, 2019, 12:53:46 AM
I just sold off all of my video cards, and only have this last mining rig left. I'm sure someone else will put it to good use. This isn't a cheap chinese mining board, Onda boards are renown for its build quality and the D8P is no exception.

This board has 8 16x slots, and 4 1x slots.

The specs:
Onda B250-D8P V1.0
I3-6100 LGA1151
8Gb 1.2V DDR4 SODIMM
1200W Modular ATX power supply
Spotswood custom made frame for the D8P
64Gb RecData mSATA SSD
Windows 10 Pro Licensed and Activated
Cooling fans

It's ready to go with the recent nvidia and a stable blockchain AMD driver. I personally ran this board with 7 GPUs. 100% ready to have video cards installed and your favorite mining software run. Fans are used and dirty; but they do their job and still work fine.

Comes exactly as seen in the photos, (includes the IEC 110v power cable that is not pictured).

I accept BTC, LTC and cash.

Trying to find a buyer in California so it does not need to be shipped;  I would rather not, but I will for the right person if they cover the cost of shipping and materials (it will be fully disassembled).

Best reasonable offer gets it... but again;  I'm trying to find a local California sale.   Maybe trade for a 1080ti?
I am located in the Bay Area... but willing to meet in the middle anywhere in cali for the right price.

What are you asking for this rig?  I didn't see it posted in your original message.

pretty much best resonable offer....

To put it in perspective:
I paid ~169 for the spotswood frame(looking up BTC price history)
and the board still sells for ~$180, processor ~$90, the memory ~$40, ssd ~$40, PSU ~$60, and then there is the OS license.....

But I kinda left it at the best reasonable offer;  if that offer doesn't feel like a knife in the kidney, ill sell it.

Id consider a straight trade for an EVGA 1080ti hybrid since I would just put it in my game pc.... and everyone right now wants waaaaay more than they are worth still.

Presently the machine is just sitting with an RX560 mining monero till its sold. (at a whopping 320kh/s)

old topic, but I still have the unit.   It has been powered off since XMR changed to Rx.

Offer still stands, would like to trade for a 1080ti, or a 7700k. (I presently have a Prime Z270-A board)

Man;  time has flown by.

Due to the increase in miners once again,  Ill note:   This is still available.

Will ship (will take to a UPS store to package and ship it);  so if this is the case make an offer and you will also pay actually shipping cost.

Local pickup anywhere near the bay area, ca is available.

Accepting cash, BTC, and Venmo

TY for the inquiry.   Im gonna pull it out, dust it off some (been sitting since the note above where I took it offline, so expect some dust ;)
Need to box it up (ill probably stuff with packing to take up empty space, and line the outside with cardboard for shipping) then Ill get a weight and dimensions to give you a shipping figure.
Ill be using USPS with confirmation/insurance.

The rx560 is no longer with the machine; FYI.  It was a bonus for back then, but now its in my friends game pc.

The price of a 7700k right now;  is ~200-250 used based off sold auctions and buy it now from ebay...  MY offer was back when people were still wanting $350+

I was hoping for ~$400 in value from this rig; (the frame and bare board alone are worth more than the 7700K itself right now, and this is ready to go out of the box) so ~$100 on top of the computer itself seems appropriate...
is this ok with you?

Hit me via email: jaredkaragen@gmail.com

Ill be able to respond a little quicker since I will be out and about today getting this boxed up and running a few errands.

I understand; but your concept of a comparison is of just a motherboard;
foregoes the frame, the PSU, the memory, the HDD, the processor, the Win10 license, etc.....

Also this model uses DDR4 (LV);  not DDR3.... and that linked model is missing all of the 1x slots.

So I hope you understand;  that direct trade offer was dated.   I could easily sell it for the $400; and pick up a processor locally with a bunch left in my pocket;  back then the 7700k were selling for $350-380;  now $200-250...  This onda;  hasn't dropped in price; in fact, it has only increased in price since the beginning if memory serves... its because its a thick board, good traces, full 16x slots (spaced properly) and not a soldered CPU but a full desktop one which allows for more coin and algo/coin flexibility in certain regards.

$400 plus cost of shipping to KS plus escrow.
What type of escrow/who?  I have always been weary about 3rd parties.

Phillipma1957 can vouch for my honesty and ability to do clean business if you know [of] him.   I have bought from him and have also received hardware with intent to R&D without any issues.
(I know my being absent from here during the low period may add some caution, but I can easily prove to him I am who I say I am still, we have had some "old man" type talks in the past =)
This keeps less speed bumps and cost out of the mix.
I also did a coin sale some time ago (should have a marketplace vouch on my account), and I followed through promptly after receiving payment.
I just sold and mailed out a 1600w PSU to an internet friend/(someone I admin for) in WI yesterday.

Update:
Please note:  The previous statements in the OP's are dated with the post;   all the drivers were recent as of that date;  so it will be the old blockchain drivers from then, etc.
It is easy to update it.  I believe I had it on teamviewer and/or used RDP to access it.  If TV is installed, it will be uninstalled/purged.
Password will be reset to "passwd" on the login account.
I didn't have time to hit the post office or pack the unit;  I ended up spending the time at my buddies shop doing maintenance to the old Honda, and doing work on my lathe at the airport.
I can wrap it whole (create a sized to fit box for it); or what's best is probably disassemble the frame and pack everything wrapped individually in a box...  That would be the choice of the buyer.

After looking it over and it been sitting:
Its as pictured;  except for no GPU's at all in it.   Can be booted up on the integrated graphics no issue (Ill boot it, run some windows updates and remove any personal miner scripts/etc from the startup folder; before I tear it down to pack in a box... this way I know its all good for the next buyer).
It is dusty;  I will get out the air compressor and blow out a bunch of it.
The fans on it, are old;  but I didn't use them for primary ventilation when populated;  I had room airflow handling that (why I never spent on fans and used ones lying around).
The motherboard extra power connectors are all powered except for one of them;  which serves two 1x slots... which is unneeded in 99% of configurations.    FYI I ran 9&10-series and rx5xx cards in this rig as is no issues.

Ill note any more when I get it booted up;  but I don't expect to have anything of merit to note.

When I disassemble it;  I will use a sharpie marker, and mark the corners with numbers as to ease the re-assembly process. (unless you opt for me to cut out cardboard and build a box around the unit fully assembled).

I honestly forget people pay for things like this these days as I work downstream , I apologize about the apparent lowball.
You have a cool board and I've been looking for P106 tk systems just for the boards.
I have 7700k procs if you'd like to purchase it id do 200 shipped

Im ok with escrow especially if its with phil;  Ill message phil to see what he says about doing escrow for us....
I could just ship it to him without a second thought.

How would you prefer it be packed?
box built around it assembled
Professional shipper packing
or disassembled and packed/wrapped individually?

I could probably put enough airpacks into the bulk of the unit to secure it's dead space inside the frame;  but I would be worried about the corners;  Knowing shipping handlers....  I guess that's the main risk of it being assembled.
I could also take it whole to the 'mailboxes etcetera' USPS local professional packing and shipping store to have it professionally packed whole;  but I believe the box would get a lot larger.   Its been quite some time since I have had to ship something this large. (the PSU is most of the weight of it)  I don't want to inflate costs.

I may take you up on that offer... Lets see how smooth the next few weeks goes for me as far as bills.  I have been trying to not dip into the "safety net", but with the price of BTC;  buying a processor isn't a half baked idea right now.
The damned MXM3.0a video card that is the only GTX series card which physically fits in my Precision M4800;  costs $400..... $400 for a 965m.  unreal.

<3 TY phil =)  Much appreciated.

Yeah the manual was close for getting it assembled;  but I remember there being some differences in mine....  I think there are a couple slight differences with the way I set it up because of that I think.
It will be easy to put most of the hardware back into its locations when disassembling; making reassembly a little bit easier.

I have some more running around to do today, help a friend drop a set of rebuilt heads back on his 460; and go to my other friend's auto shop and give him a hand for a few hours to pay for use of his shop lift yesterday.
If I don't have anything pop up for tonight;  Ill get on the imagery and disassembly tonight.

I'm not sure if I have the bag with the allen screwdriver tool and extra hardware the frame came with for assembly...  If I find it I will include it.
At last look (we will see for certain soon) I believe I had 4 or 5 dual-ended PCIE power cables still attached to that miner frame.   If you need more;  they are the standard pinout/interchangeable so easy to add more from a spare supply.

Sounds great. I just realized that I have a 24 hour waiting period to withdraw from nicehash as I just setup 2FA. So unfortunately I won't be able to fund escrow until tomorrow. Will message you when it's ready to go, sorry for the inconvenience.

Was taking a look at this board just a little while ago and this one seems to be priced right with the frame and extra things included.
So did debitme secure this and the sale has concluded?
As far as I could tell they were waiting on a payment so they can buy this lot from you.
Correct? If not then maybe you can give an update on the progression of this sale.
Thanks.

Yeah;  I had a rough weekend myself, but am back on the upswing.

I just finished taking photos and disassembling it.

I booted it up; and apparently it was last running ubuntu;  so i can wipe the drive and re-install windows 10 on it before I package it up if you want;
I totally forgot I had it gambling on finding an address with $$$ in it =)

I'll tape antistatic over the mainboard to protect it from the padding Ill be putting in the dead spaces; and probably use something to secure the PSU to the main tray back as it was;  it seems that smarter way to ship it being physically attached to the frame.

If you want me to disassemble it more, I can probably fir the frame into a tube mailer;  but this seems the best way;  easiest to re-assemble;  the frame protects the mainboard in transit, etc.

That works for me and yes please on windows.

Thanks

Please message me when ready to do this.

Will do Phil;  I plan to box it up tomorrow after work.

I just finished installing W10;  Just installed the downloaded ISO while it was plugged into the net;  remembered it's old status and activated automatically. https://imgur.com/Flkj9x8

Couldn't install the crimson blockchain driver (no card);  so the installer is in the downloads folder for you.  netplwiz.exe used to set to auto-login.  The user account's password is in a text file on the desktop in case you need it (for RDP and to change it).

I am running it through all the updates right now (thank god I finally got better internet for home out here in the boonies;  my cellular link is ~30Mbit now instead of 3).
I'll run it updating tonight until it doesn't find anymore updates to install; then Ill consider it all ready to box up.

Am I direct shipping it to you @DebitMe?  I have never done a goods escrow personally yet; its always been direct for me in the past.  Knowing Phil has payment;  I have zero worries about sending it direct (unless you prefer anonymity).
I can have the shipping cost to give you once I have a zip code and its final box size.  I tend to use USPS (typically most cost-effective and reliable), but if another service reaches you better or more reliably, its your choice.

It will ship out of 95037.

Getting this thing put together, going pretty well, couple of questions when you have a moment...

How do you connect the bars that the fans are on? It looks like there is a screw into each side of the main bars, but also some brackets on each corner, which works best?
I can plug the motherboard power cable in, no problem. How many of the other motherboard power supply inputs need connected? I see 3 molex and 3 SATA connectors, do they all need plugged in? Did you power the 3 molex from 1 cable and same with the SATA?
It looks like the PSU has the 24 pin, 8 pin MOBO, and an extra 8 pin connector connected to it, is that really an PCI cable (it's a little too worn to read)
I see 3 other 8 pin cables, so a total of 4 cards. Do I need another PSU to get up to 8 cards? Or if I split each one is that enough power per card?

Once I work through some of the above I will get it booted up, so far so smooth!

Thanks!

the screw heads or nuts go through the bar. or slide inside the rails.
gotta adjust them for slack, wiggle the nuts into the channel, and tighten (some bar ends have holes for through-tightening the round headed endcap screws that slide into the channels, you will notice those on the cut ends of some parts).

I left all screws in their respective locations for easy reassembly (hopefully).   Even with Spotswood's directions;  it took me a bit to get that frame assembled; and it was accomplished by skewing from the directions slightly to be honest.
I believe when I photographed it, I took the photos of the parts disassembled but in the places/zones they came from.

When running many cards before, I used a coolmax 1600w PSU alongside that one....   it had more a bunch more PCIE connectors and cables on it.... but for the longest time that thing was doing low power mining and early XMR mining and only ran it with that PSU.

On the 1.0 board, the edge connectors (black PATA/SATA power cable) are the 12V source for each of the PCIE slot zones.   I never needed to populate the final SATA plug at the end from what I remember.  I believe it and the one before it serve power to 3 of (or the 4) 1x connectors.  I kinda forget exactly.

I guess it all depends on how you are running the rig, how much power you are going to feed what kind of cards ultimately.

Also;  a VERY smooth transaction for future note;  Both buyer and escrow.   Thanks again =)

Good news:  I found the bag with all the extra hardware/nuts/bolts and Allen keys it came with.

I’ll drop em in a usps priority packet and send em your way this week.

Thank you for the thoughts, I appreciate your time and I agree, super smooth and easy purchase.

I will take another look at everything here shortly and hopefully have no more questions.

Thanks!
