Title: Troll abuses self-moderated topics in Russian local
Post by: Veleor on June 16, 2019, 05:42:15 PM
In Russian section there is a troll korner (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1096223) that constantly creates self-moderated threads, in which he systematically deletes all posts after a while. Such behavior is totally destroying the discussion.

On this week user 'korner' erased all comments in his several self-moderated topics and now they're not available:

This issue has been reported before:

Suggestion: Forbid to delete comments of staff in self-moderated topics.

Moderators messages are often contain important information and their removal can have negative effects.

For instance, member 'korner' deleted posts of two Russian moderators in his self-moderated topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2613277.msg50629148#msg50629148

I also want to note that korner (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1096223) is evading the ban now. Moderators, please take some measures.

Please, ban account "korner", since he violates the rules by ban evasion and trolling.

I see an easy solution here; if he is a troll and self-moderates topics, just let his topics die and ignore him.

Please, ban account "korner", since he violates the rules by ban evasion and trolling.

If this is true yeah, he should get perma-banned for the ban evasion. BUT and a big BUT, trolling is no reason for a ban

Best you can do is "Report to moderator" Provide them with the proof of Ban evasion. These should be escalated to someone who can deal with it as such.

Next to deal with the self moderated topics - Create your own topic for real discussion to happen in without fear of the entire thread being wiped. That's exactly what the warning at the top says to do. Ideally the troll will starve with no attention.

This is a self-moderated topic. If you do not want to be moderated by the person who started this topic, create a new topic.

Very frustrating when there is the demolition of entire topics or conversations.

This idiot for several minutes destroyed four topic:

This is an abuse of rights in its purest form!

P.S. It would be great if moderators or administrators could restore topics after such abuses and disable the self-moderated option in them. Option of self-moderated was created on forum clearly not for mass destruction posts.

It' more a misuse of privilege, on their part. I suggest you and some of the locals try to create a movement where no one posts in their Self-mod topics. Get as many people on board so that when they create one a duplicate is created that isn't self-moderated - It can be done by quoting their OP even. Then there is still the ability to have the discussion they can choose to join in or not.

This is the only way to avoid such instances. If these options aren't removed to prevent shady sales tactics I don't see it being removed for someone throwing a tantrum and wiping threads. We just have to be creative in how we deal with these unique situations.

Edit: to at least preserve the conversation you can also start archiving their threads.

This troll has been reported three weeks ago with this reference (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5094661.msg50361052#msg50361052), and report was marked as Good, however korner continues to comment on the forum.

Many people in the Russian section don't guess that one of the members usually erases his threads, so they're trying to make a constructive conversation. But unfortunately all their comments sooner or later end up in the trashcan.

I think that Self-moderated option should be disabled for new threads at the main page of the Russian locale, just as it was done in Meta.

Yes, it can also be one of the solutions to this problem. The main thing - that there was a desire to solve this problem.

Why was wex.nz banned? Is the official reason trolling? I'm trying to do an investigation of one of korner's alts, Bitcoin SV, who does everything that korner did, and should also be banned.

You don't have to join the discussions he created.

I personally try to not post in any self-moderated threads because of this. Let him do whatever he wants. This is not a ban offense.

You can always ignore him or if the topic he created is worth a discussion, create another with the similar or same title without moderation.

Ban evasion is a ban-able offense. He's also been flooding other threads with trolling nonsense.

I missed that part. I thought he was only creating topics...

Here's the Reputation topic I created about it. If you have anything constructive to add, or something that I might have missed, please let me know over there, thanks:
