Title: Imagine that you're new to crypto now
Post by: smajler on July 16, 2019, 08:36:47 PM
Imagine that you are a new player in the crypto world and have no idea about this topic.
What are you doing now? Read the book? You invest your savings in bitcoin, maybe you look at other coins (alts) or maybe you see that the price is falling and you're waiting to buy even lower. If so, do you know when to buy? What's your plan for this moment? :)

Whenever we keep legs into something new it is good to get suggestions from the people who have been into the same for a much longer time period. Whether I'm gonna experience loss or profit doesn't matter, I'll invest on the cryptocurrency that's been suggested by him. Further I'll start exploring to know more about cryptocurrencies and I begin to move on my own plans.

So you mean a new player just put money on crypto without understanding what on earth they are doing? Since they don't know the topic in the first place.

A plan will come up later on after understanding the risks. Can't put myself in the scenario you have given because back when I'm new to the crypto world, I never put a single cents on that without understanding the basics even how good and bright the future of crypto to the look of the others. I want to see how good it is by doing my self-homework first before engaging and putting the actual money. Even how positive people back then, it's difficult to just follow someone saying that you will become rich in bitcoin someday. Some of them can't even explain what's this stuff all about.

And since I did my homework, then I see that it's making sense to test the waters in crypto and worth to put a shot compare to others risky "investments" that can be found around. No such thing as latecomers even for let's say I just realized it now as we speak.

Probably searching how to earn bitcoin and probably wanted to have instant bitcoin so I'll end up maybe to scams or to faucet shts and maybe reading different sections here in the forum and make experimental acts like mining using my not so new computer, etc.

I will read, hear & find out very much if I am new to the crypto. Blockchain technology and cryptocurrency are very new things and currently, only some people really understand what this is.. even based on the news I read, surveys prove that around 70% of companies in the Asia Pacific don't understand what blockchain and cryptocurrencies are.  :D

If I will base that before I started my journey on crypto, maybe I'm into some HYIP schemes or trading some altcoins because  I really admitted that I really did that before, like jumping into some new things without even doing some research or asking some people, even not in crypto.

I really admire those people especially those newbies in crypto that are carefully asking about crypto things and doing some of their research before putting their hard-earned money in Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrencies.

I wouldn't read books but I will scouring the internet with everything I can find specially bitcoin. I don't think that as a newbie, you will get yourself with altcoins, it may come a bit later when you understand how crypto market works specially bitcoin. So obviously, bitcoin is the go to crypto and that is where most newbies are going to invest I reckon.

I will search for information about bitcoin from watch video on Youtube. I will learn about how to know the time to buy coins. The important thing here is how I can understand how to buy and sell at a low price. I don't want to use my savings money to buy bitcoin because I know that it will be too expensive for me, but I will buy altcoin, and I will try to buy in local exchange.

I will read everything about cryptocurrency and about this forum, I will also ask for some help every time I feel doubt about the information that I get. In terms of investing, I will study it also so my money will be safe and know how to deal with cryptocurrency. Honestly at first, its hard to deal with the market because of high volatile but if you know it already it will be more easy for you to buy and sell.

I will look for information about the risks of the crypto world.  what is crypto trading? what is crypto investment?  how is the risk of each volatility?  what are the advantages and disadvantages of trade and investment?  What strategies can be used to avoid losses and get high profits?  I will ask a lot of the crypto community and read some articles about the crypto world before investing and trading.

As usual if you're newbie you need to know everything, you need to know if the market is suitable for you or not. I will read the books usually and attend many seminars because I know on that way, I can learn more about cryptocurrency. Investing is a hard job for me, because you need to study everything and you need to know where to put your money. Crypto now is so cheap, start buying again and continue to hold.

Never put your money in something you don't know. A cryptocurrency (Bitcoin / Altcoin) can be studied easily if you want to spend a little effort to find valid data related to the cryptocurrency that we will buy. Google provides all the data that you might need. You can start from there. The point is always to do in-depth research first before investing so you don't regret it later.

Investment is not gambling that you could spend your money and never know what happened after that, just rely on lucky and you will be happy if you win and you will regret it when you lose. But in an investment you have to realize your money will grow depend on your knowledge and your money will go down even will run out if you didn't know the investment place, what is the risk that will be face after that and choosing time when you have to buy and when to sell.

Those things must be know by newcomers in investment field. They are free to choose both choices guessed investment is gambling or investment is a place to make your money grow with a knowledge first. Those are depend on them, but I'll believe that all newcomers will read first before they spend their money to start with. But most of them only find out the profit which will get later only have a lack knowledge the ins and out about bitcoin.

We usually see an incoming influx of new players in the market whenever the price goes higher, but not at the time when it goes lower! Same thing happened during late 2017 as well and I am sure there were newcomers who had joined the market during recent gold rush and already accounting their losses!

If greed de8ves their decision then you are bound to make mistakes! But if the newcomer is tracking the market from some time, he/she will be able to identify the trend and make money out of it! That's true for every market!

Money attracts, If I were new in Bitcoin I would probably search for earning opportunities, many people in the community suggest new members in taking some research before investing in anything, seeing new members losing interests affects this growing community.

But still, how can you know if you didn't try? If we want to trade as a newbie, just use the amount we can afford to lose or just invest in Bitcoin for a healthier option.

i don't have to imagine, i just have to remember!
when i got in bitcoin it was 2014 and the price was around $500 and was falling down. it went as low as $150, and although this current trend we have these days has nothing to do with that and has no similarity but as someone who got in during one of the biggest drops in bitcoin history i have to say i never minded it and i still don't. i continue to buy bitcoin whenever i have the extra money to accumulate more.
as for altcoins they have always been the tool to increase the amount of bitcoin i have so i will continue trying to trade the pumping coins.

Well, I would do my own research, of course because it's kinda hard to enter something without even the slightest knowledge about it. And then, I would ask my friends if they are familiar about such and then ask for their advice as well. Just the basic things a new comer would do. :)

Putting myself in the shoe of the beginners, I'll study more about it and probably won't gamble all of my life savings into it. After getting a job and became a victim of scam, I became wiser now with my money.

And that's why if ever I'm new to crypto I won't be confident of investing all of my money and there's no way for me to know when to buy and when to sell. Unlike the rough road of successful people, I'll learn it the easy way through reading the experience of others.

Research is key in any investment or technology, so I would advise you to do some research first and then to decide how much you are going to risk on an investment in Bitcoin. Just remember that it is not an investment opportunity but a great payment method with a lot more advantages than simply being an investment tool.  ;)

People know where the last ATH price of this technology was, so they know more or less where it could go again, so they can make a calculated guess of what their potential return on their investment can be.  ;)

If I was new to bitcoin I would read this forum for about 4 weeks.I would watch Youtube videos about bitcoin everyday and maybe I would buy some Andreas Antonopolus books about blockchain, cryptography, etc.
If I was new,I'm 100% sure that I wouldn't buy any bitcoins right now. ;D

If I am new to crypto today, I would try to get to know Bitcoin thoroughly. I would like to know what it is, why is it made in the first place, who are the people behind it, why does it have a value so huge nowadays, and how probably will it fare in the future. I would not think of buying very early. When I first heard of Bitcoin, I was doubtful as to its legitimacy, I was not eager to buy. But when I came to familiarize it and the possibility that it will further rise, it was then that I decided I have to buy.

Id treat crypto as a normal new topic in real life.
It happens many times in my job that a customer ask me for something i'm not really into or have small knowledge, i start to study to get my feet into it, research around the internet, friends, ex colleagues which might have more experience than me on the topic.
BTC has a value and when we're talking about money, i would do what i just write x3 before doing anything.

everyone will learn and understand something before joining in that matter. whatever, whether crypto or other.
and I will be like that too. certainly will learn more before joining,
after understanding more about whether to invest in bitcoin or altcoin it will be a separate consideration later. I personally will of course choose bitcoin to invest.
and I'm currently doing it even though it's still a little, investing in bitcoin.

I would educate myself first and foremost. I will not get involved in something I have totally no idea at all. I would do the necessary diligence to know every cons and pros there is on bitcoin.

The market is in a pickle right now. The price is dropping and US President making negative comments on bitcoin greatly impacted its bull run. Newbies should be wary making investments right now.

We have been came from a newbie before. And before doing a thing like buying and selling, i did not read any books but I spent most of my time in three websites;

  • Bitcointalk forum
  • GOOGLE
  • Youtube

After that, when there is still vague terms that i hardly understand like blokchain, miner fees, cryptocurrency, then   INFOGRAPHIC helps me to understand it.

Next step is on how to do a buy and sell stuffs or crypto tradings. There is adifferent reviews and feedbacks with a certain exchanges. I DYOR before choosing one.

But as a newbie before, the most important thing is the trial and error. You won't learn all about crypto if you wouldn't try to buy and sell. And if you wouldn't win or lose in crypto tradings. That's how I have been through as a newbie before.

As a new comer in the crypto space, first thing you thought of is how to earn free without putting money, try to make sense out of it by visiting forums like this or other crypto related sites where you can read and understand a bit what it is all about and how you can earn from it, i remember knowing btc and other alts through faucet, at the time i thought if i could earn free why putting money in it but i later realize there is a big difference :)
there are lots of info about crypto, how to use wallet and exchange of your crypto that would be beneficial to newbie, this are the basic part necessary for every new comer.

for a beginner in bitcoin the most important thing to do is to avoid random recourses on the internet that are mostly opinion based and are being spread by other newbies who have little understanding of bitcoin. Youtube for example has turned into the worst place to start from because it is filled with bad videos and lots of "price guessers" that are misleading others.
I would always suggest starting from bitcoin.org and reading some of the pages on coindesk.com since their educational articles are simplified and easy to understand for a beginner.
also I would advise staying away from price speculation and only stick to studying bitcoin as it is, which is a decentralized currency.

What are you doing now?

I read the news related to bitcoin, and you should see what certain guys do when the price drops:

Bitcoin Price Below $9.5K Could Spark 80% Parabolic Advance Correction, Trader Warns (https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-price-below-95k-could-spark-80-parabolic-advance-correction)

are analyzes that do not bring good news. we are walking towards the precipice

You invest your savings in bitcoin

No, and no one should do this

maybe you look at other coins (alts) or maybe you see that the price is falling and you're waiting to buy even lower. If so, do you know when to buy? What's your plan for this moment? :)

investing now in altcoins can be risky, waiting for the price of bitcoin to fall to buy may be the best option

I am not sure about any specific books that explains everything about bitcoin and you cannot find a legit financial adviser for the market and hence it is very difficult for a newbie to understand the market and the different coins in the beginning, it takes time and effort to learn about the basic infrastructure, the main pitfall for newbies is that they tend to search for new projects to get profit quicker and end up being a bag holder, if they understand that only bitcoin can be trusted in the long run and then their job to learn is easy and stick to legit top alt coins rather than investing in shit coins with lot of advertisement and fake promises.

In my newbie time, what I did is only read and familiarize first what is crypto and what is happening in the forum. There are plenty of terms and words that I didn't understand first but as the time passes by, I started to familiarize them and use them in my advantage.

The best option that we can do if we are still new especially in crypto industry is to familiarize it first before doing anything. It will be better that you will stock first all the resources that you need in order to earn some decent profit in crypto industry.

When I was very new to the bitcoin, to avoid my coin dumping overnight, I simply just invested in genesis mining, but today it's as profitable as it uses to be back then. If I were new today, I would have just still simply buy bitcoin and watch as it grows, no perfect time to enter and I sell when I hit some profit.

if  you are new to crypto, the best thing to first do is to read books and make a list of questions which you can find answers to on forum like this. BTT can also give you informations on crypto and trading because it is the largest crypto community in the world. As a newbie, you have to have it at the back of your mind that you should not invest more than what you can bear to lose. Some have suggested that there is no significant difference between gambling and investing in crypto asset so do your own research before making any decision.

Each and everyone of us have had their experience as a beginner in crypto space, in my own case, it was very confusing to understand and digest it fully what blockchain was all about but thanks to close relative who already had little experience to explain it to me,
So as a beginner, things will be a bit confusing even though you read from the internet you still need easy explanation from someone who already has the knowledge for easy understanding because crypto can be very confusing.

you need the right people which know to explain very easy everything ...and from there the noob know what to search and read , basically to show him the big picture.

peer to peer money come from peer to peer file sharing with twist.

lets dive deep to see the big picture...
====================================================================
centralized tech info share - which mean computers around the world was downloading files,mp3,music,software,movies and other stuff from few main servers and not depend on each other very simple.

example computer z,a,v,b,f,t,e,s all of them connect to the main servers and download and this private computers dont depend on each other.

there is weakness in centralized tech which mean the right worm inside the main servers and you have access to all this private computers around the world which mean you need top notch security in centralized tech.

another point governments pretty fast locate this servers and shut the down.
another point do you know how much powerful this servers need to hold all this computers that download compare to FACEBOOK*" which most of the time only come to view.

easy to ddos attack main servers.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
then burn decentralized tech(peer to peer) which mean there are no main servers and our private computers are the servers which mean my computers upload movie to your computer while yours computer maybe download software from private computer on the other side of the globe very simple.

defenition: Since there's no single, central computer controlling the Internet and (in theory) every computer that's online is connected indirectly to every other one, it should be possible for any two computers to share information by communicating directly—and it is! This is called peer-to-peer (P2P) communication and it's used by some of the more popular instant messaging (IM) chat programs (as well as controversial file-sharing programs, which earned themselves a bad name when people started using them to share copyright music tracks illegally).

the nature of peer to peer(decentralized tech) is some peers hold more then others yet its still decentralized.

if some one said to you , that you can ddos attack decentralized tech its mean he is lack of knowledge in tech because your answer will be , lets see you ddos attack more then 500 million computers around the world.

- its much more secure then centralized tech relative.
- hackers feels inside maze with decentralized tech and lost sometime.
- and you dont need huge main servers to hold all this power.
=====================================================================
distributed tech its like decentralized just much more equel to each other .
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

peer to peer(decentralized) tech is the oldest tech in the space and monster that only grow and some call it PACMAN.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

peer to peer money(decentralized)- its like peer to peer file sharing but with twist called blockchain(cryptography).

blockchain(cryptography)

at this point the ones that read have the big picture now he need to dive deep and understand what is

block - chain and how it work and types and what is tsp and nodes and other stuff.

the future is decentralized tech mixed with distributed...

when I was new to crypto, I used to buy just any decent token from forkdelta/etherdelta, and it used to give me profit lol

Didn't really care about 'when to buy'

I would rather avoid getting to know cryptocurrency by reading a book. That would be best only to those who really want to know the most fundamental and nitty-gritty details of cryptocurrency. Masters and PhD students doing crypto or blockchain in their thesis or dissertation must do that. And for me, a layman interested about only the general idea of crypto will only consult the internet, which is already full of much shorter and easier to understand guides for Bitcoin. That would be the first thing that I do, doing some research.

Just like what I did before when I was still a newbie in crypto, I will take time to understand how things work here and will conduct a research before making a decision to enter in any opportunity open for newbies.

Since I became aware of the existence of crypto through my friend and he is the one who explain the basic things that I need to know when I was just a beginner then I might need his help again to enlighten and guide me because he is an experienced trader.

Probably if I'm a newbie in cryptocurrency first thing to do is research and learn about it before putting my money on it because people nowadays just fall for the hype and getting rekt. Patience is key in cryptocurrency and those who have enough experienced and knowledge will surely reap their rewards in the future.

First I will read here bitcointalk and watch in youtube.click the link to know what crypto is. If you ask if I invest my answer is no at first because I dont know yet about crypto.then since I am learning at that time I will just ask first my friend how to invest and how will you earn from this.I will ask him to teach me actual how will you do crypto.since my friend introduce to me crypto I will learned it first widely before I invest.my plan will be still research and learning to know more about bitcoin.

So you mean a new player just put money on crypto without understanding what on earth they are doing? Since they don't know the topic in the first place.

Well TBH that's a common error for all the start-ups. The hype is triggering the emotion the tendency is they gamble there money, that's why some or most of the new players who exercise the go with the flow scheme exits the market as early as they could to avoid further losses and some literally lost it all.

For Op:

1. I'd probably study and understand this industry first. Simple as that, I wouldn't be risking a hard/smart earned savings of mine without knowing what type of industry am I investing to. Little understanding of a something could cost me a lot, I rather be cautious as we talk about money here.

I'd search for videos on youtube and read articles on medium about btc.

Good luck with that. Google videos and medium about Bitcoin and you get Bitcoin parodies, Bitcoin price speculation and all the nonsense about Bitcoin. I'd stick to the wiki, read a few of the old posts on this forum, and maybe one of those books by one of the Bitcoin greats. So much noisy people making noise on youtube I wouldn't know as a newbie who to listen to.

I often have funny discussions with family members about Bitcoin. Last night I spoke to my brother about - in his words "Bitcoin crashing".
So I showed him the 3 month time frame chart and pointed out that the price is UP 83%.
He got a confused look on his face.
I also told him that now would be a great time to invest as the price will almost certainly go to new all time highs in the next few months and it probably won't drop any lower than 7000 approx. He looked worried.
Well they say you can lead a horse to water.....

When people ask me about my opinion of bitcoin since they are starting to see more about it in the press (and Trump) I tell them I am not in a very bullish position that I was in 2 years ago.
Having seen my portfolio rise to rather large numbers to watching it dwindle to less then I had invested, this does not make me very confident in telling others to get on board of this roller coaster ride.

There is a lot of information on the bitcointalk forum about what trading is and how to learn to trade.  If you understand the first basics of this activity, then thanks to the small start-up capital you can get the first experience in practice, which will guide the newcomer on the right path.

I am really a curious person and probably i would tend to read , research and explore more the forum to gather initial information about bitcoin but as per what i observed, almost all topics tells that bitcoin is a good investment but requires risk. I probably buy within weeks of reading i guess.

same bro, I'm also someone who is curious when I have something I just found out. Usually I will listen more from forums, blogs, and books. If I understand then I will try real things I just learned. And it is also very risky to go directly to buy bitcoin without learning it first.

It's true bro, things that are interesting sometimes make us curious, but if I read or from a blog or just read, that's enough for me to find out about Cryptocurrency ...

My experience with bitcoin is very difficult, where in 2014 it was very difficult to find or study it, it also needed someone who was right to give us knowledge, because if we do not find people who are not certain in the future we will be blind to knowledge system that is in bitcoin ...

I don't consider YouTube videos to be a good source of content for newbies, especially with how most of them go with the flow of the market and adjust their stance even on an hourly basis when they have to. Too biased and greedy for clicks.

The market is obviously the most important factor for people to join, so from there it makes sense to get comfortable with markets in general. I like the suggestion for people to read books because that definitely helps.

If you have a basic level of market understanding, it's much easier for you to make a decision on when to buy and when to sell. Currently most people just buy in at any price level not knowing that it's likely the top that they bought.

i would be much smarter and buy btc at low price. But if I was very smart then I would have started to look at btc in 2010. i think its good move to invest money in crypto if you are beginner to see how things is going on.

I don't agree with that.

I mean, it is a good move to invest your money into cryptocurrencies while you are a beginner? No. When I am a newbie in investing in cryptos, I am so tensed. Not because I know it is volatile but the thing is that there are a lot of people getting scammed. Time taught me how the price moves, I learned a lot of and that starts with being scared, overthinking and panicking.

To be honest, I'm so long involved with Bitcoin that it would be hard to imagine to become a newbie again.
On the other hand I think it was easier to start years ago when the price was lower, there were not so much fraud and fake news, false Bitcoin predictions and experts. On the other hand today it's easier because Bitcoin has not bad reputation anymore and it's better accepted, community is bigger and much more information are available, although not those on social networks.

Upon hearing what crypto is, i would delve deeper and try to do some research before tackling and investing some of my money on bitcoin or on altcoins. By reading the basics i would further understand what is its pros and cons. If i have arrived to the conclusion that bitcoin would benefit me then i would definitely try to invest on bitcoins. I would wait for the price to decrease before buying one, and then like most of the members here in this forum, I would hold onto it until the day comes when it exceeds its previous peak.

I think I will still invest right now if I were a newbie. Why should I do that? The reason why I will still invest is that Bitcoin proves that it can rise up like it used to be in 2017 then it is still possible that it will happen again. I don't want to miss the chance to be profitable.  The time we have started, no one believes in Bitcoin and no one was aware that it can do wonderful things until 2017 Boom! Then what are the things I should be afraid of when I almost experienced all the hardships and battles on Cryptocurrency? To all the newbies, never lose hope. Get all the knowledge that you can get by research and talking to all reliable people that will really unselfishly share all that you need as a newbie.

It is not a good investment idea to start investing into an asset that you are not well inform in and that is the mistake many of us do and at the end when the whales and professionals play their game we would start calling them manipulators.

Hmm... that's a good question.
I can say that if I didn’t know anything about the crypto sphere, first I would start studying the crypto market, start exploring and analyze the history of Bitcoin creation, I would try to understand why some currencies had such a rapid increase in their price.
But in fact, this is not the most important thing. The most important thing is the analytical thinking and understanding of the foundations of any markets and basic processes in society. Of course, the crypto market and the blockchain are different from all that was before. But there are laws that work absolutely in all walks of life.
The most trivial example: no matter how you treat this, from time immemorial to nowadays there is such a way of life that 80% of people don't understand and don't want to understand anything, 19% of people understand much more and use it, and only 1% of people fully understand what is happening around and can control it themselves. Based on the understanding of this structure in society, it is possible to draw many conclusions and more accurately predict the further development of the crypto sphere and not only that.
And we must strive for precisely this analytical thinking and understanding of what is happening around. And some separate details of the crypto will not give you much. Therefore, first of all, I would try to understand what is happening around and how you can use it.

If I am new and have found this forum then I will read all the things needed as a beginner through the appropriate board to begin my journey in this crypto world. In addition, I will explore the internet to find things related to cryptos.

Very wise words smajler.  I would add to that learn all you can about trading in stocks and forex so you can buy Bitcoin at the right times.  Forex is a good one because it is also manipulated by governments so you can learn how to deal with that.

I would recommend you read Trading in the Zone: Master the Market with Confidence, Discipline and a Winning Attitude by Mark Douglas.  I thought it was a book about trading techniques but it was not.  It was a book of psychologically why we make decisions we do when buying, selling and trading stocks or anything else like Bitcoin.  It was tremendous in setting me free from a lot not just in trading but in life.

I would like to instantly learn about the technology that involves Cryptocurrency. I would gladly learn about Blockchain Technology and its applications. I would join different campaigns and watch the values of Alternate Cryptos fluctuate. I would also correct my past mistakes by trusting on what my instincts tell me. The Cryptocurrency Industry opened a lot of opportunities that I can take to earn and learn more. It taught me how to invest properly and spread those investments to lessen the risk of losing everything.

I never put money in something I can't understand
In this moment I'll probably be waiting for a rally

I don't have to imagine. i was once new to crypto. However, i am still learning.  What i did first, when i started with crypto,  was to gain good knowledge from an experienced crypto enthusuast. While i was learning from this crypto enthusiast, i was reading some other books that relates to blockchian and trading, and also acquainting myself with online contents. Right now, i am more into buying low and selling high, and get tips on how to do all this through my analysis and the person who introduced into crypto. It is all working out well, and i keep learning.

If I were such a newcomer.  I would just spend all the time here on the forum and read some interesting and informative articles on cryptocurrency.  It has everything you need to start and even more.
As a newcomer, of course, you must be diligent in finding information about crypto, which is what crypto is, how to have it and how to trade profitably so that you don't get the wrong perception, because many think that crypto trading is gambling or fraud.
After knowing the ins and outs of crypto just starting with small capital to learn while trading directly, there is no need to buy bitcoin but can buy altcoins that have lower prices. Must be diligent in looking for information in order to gain profits in trading.

Well we might not really know what happen.

In this scenario, I won't rush to invest in some random coins rather I read all of the necessary resources to improve my knowledge about cryptocurrency, mostly I go for Do's and Don'ts. in this why I will minimize my risk to fall on ponzi scam and I will have a higher percentage to land on a good project to invest my money with.

Well of course I'll start looking on how to earn from cryptocurrency...
If you ask me, I do not think a newcomer should go all out to start earning right from the start, that will only leave such person vulnerable to scam and losses.

If I'm new here, I'll take my time to learn the ropes properly, read ceaselessly and little by little invest in coins that I fancy, cryptocurrency investment is very dicey and it takes a whole lot of commitment and determination.

If I could give advice to a myself in the past, then I would say "buy bitcoin and continue to study cryptocurrency". At the beginning of the road, everyone faces fear and uncertainty, because they do not really understand what a cryptocurrency is. Therefore, it takes some time.. It would also be good to have a mentor who would help the novice to understand everything faster.

If I find something new to me, I would doubt it at first. Research what is it about and learn how can I benefit from it in the future. So far, cryptocurrency is very beneficial to me for the reason is that there's no limitation on what Bitcoin could offer. I could buy something using gift cards bought using Bitcoin. I could buy steam games using Bitcoin or pay bills without going on a long line. Maybe invest some of my savings for the future.

Just what like we did when we first came here ofcourse, luck that I have a mentor in crypto that has been here long time so it’s not hard for me to learn and adopt the community because he’s always there to answer all my inquiries and willingness to lend me a hand everytime I need one

But what I did wayback is do some extra job, reading books watching videos over internet and read some blogs and articles

But buying!it took me atleast more than 6 months before I purchase my first bitcoin and the next is I add altcoins, also bought some ico tokens since that time there are still good project going on

Getting started with Cryptocurrencies?
Well before investing in any of them I will do my homework. Read about the ones I'm interested in , study the graphs for prices and predictions and would absorb all sorts of information by taking to someone who already is in this field.
Patience has always been the key. Im gonna take help of price prediction tools and see when is the best time to buy and then wait for the bullish run.

verry well said  . that only sound easy but in reality almost no one can do that   . lets start with patience  . not all have the patience to hold thier crypto because once you see that the value is skyrocketting , you will be esily tempted to dispose what you got  . next is doing a reasearch   , most people are just lazy to do it . what they do is to pick up a coin that they think good without knowing its source or history  . lastly , theres no such thing as price predicting tools because if there is then all of us are already wealthy .

Internet is has been a major source of cryptos information via google a new player should devote some little time to read, uderstand and if possible practilise every aspect or areas that had been covered by doing so such a person will grasp the whole scope of cryptos, personally I started with creation of a blockchain wallet and moved to capthers and fausets in getting some satoshis stored in my wallet furthered with reading more books on blockchain technolonogy and finally learning how to trade which of course is a long journey however slow and steady wins a race according to an adage.

If I were new to crypto now, I will surely make sure to study and learn what environment am I putting myself into first. I will not make any drastic actions like investing or buying something I don't even know. I will do my own research and I will make sure to know and understand everything I need to know for me to avoid doing regrets in the near future.
This should be done first before making such investments. Crypto investment brings a lot of risks so i should be ready for it by doing a lot of researches through reading articles and learning from youtube videos too. But i still think the best way to learn more is to engage in it to gain real experience in life. In this way, i could totally feel what it looks like to have a crypto investment.

Agreed, and the main point is there "for free". There re a lot of fraudsters "crypto experts" which will consult you for btc or usd. Never believe in that. I guess a you can just create a post there or on reddit asking for help. There will be a lot of traders which are happy to talk with yout about the market just because they re interested in this.

I will be starting from the very first step. I will be gathering as much reliable information as possible. It is better to know something thoroughly before even starting to invest on it. Probably, informational videos will be the most helpful for me as well as raising questions to some individuals who have already acquired much knowledge about cryptocurrency. And then finally, I will take a look at the price and consult the experts whether it is the perfect time to buy or wait for another time.

Most of the people today tend to try something new without studying it first and most of the result they've got is disappointment or loss of something valuable to them. Trying their luck in cryptocurrencies for the first time is no difference because I experience the same during my initial days in trading cryptocurrencies. The newbies today seem to be more aggressive and adventurous than before so they should be reminded to study first the basics of cryptocurrencies before investing or trading on it.

Bitcoin is discussing the biggest investment since launching dot com, crypto, and blockchain projects achieving high valuations simultaneously.
Bitcoin is indeed excellent. At present, there is no investment instrument that can provide benefits as big as this crypto currency.
in this case as a beginner must learn a lot.
for example Learn Expensive Buy Cheap Selling Strategies
The low-cost buying strategy is an alternative strategy that works for highly volatile investments. This is a very simple strategy, by selling crypto when the market will return to a bearish position and buying lots of compilation coins will rise. It just doesn't sound like a strategy - just a practical rule of crypto. However, there are certain recommendations that you must read to make a profit here.
Here, you must know when the price of Bitcoin or Ethereum rises so as not to lose money. Get you not exceeding your monthly limit to buy crypto with this strategy.
the compilation is all understood, and it understands well ... then it can generate profits. There will certainly be a lot of lists that are made to buy things or things that have been desired like car, house, clothes, jewelry, bags, shoes, and can travel to many country

For me, it's important to know everything because knowledge is my foundation to continue to move better and not be wrong in making decisions. I can't be lazy to find out everything about crypto currencies. I have to understand about investing, trading, bounty, mining, and everything that involves crypto currencies. If I were new to cryptocurrency now, I would have  researched very well about the different types of cryptocurrencies on the market before investing than to follow the hyped crypto coin. That would have saved me from making investment in shitcoins.
DYOR (Do Your Own Research) & Learning from other people's experiences is the best and most effective way to learn and understand something. so we don't go into the wrong place like shitcoins  :D

Good, I can say that I also made some research, I discover this forum because I was interested to learn and honestly I was not wrong, I'm very thankful I find the forum as I learn a lot of techniques here on how to make money and it broaden my knowledge in crypto, it introduces me also to altcoins market which I made a decent money in the past.
I am also very grateful to this forum. This forum is very educational and very good for us to be able to increase knowledge about crypto currencies and which cryptocurrencies are best for investment  ;D

In a way it's easier now for Bitcoin users and in a way it's harder.
It's easier because Bitcoin is now lot more popular and accepted than 5 or 6 years ago, there are lot more available informations, different tools, a lot of exchanges and everything. But before it was easier because there were not so much scams and frauds, not so much fake news about Bitcoin, transaction were almost anonimous.
Anyway, I wouldn't like to be a beginner now.

Don't really need to imagine, I can quite clearly remember the first time (that I remember well anyway, if there were an earlier time, forgotten with sands of time) I heard about it. This was in early 2013.

I was actually interested, but I'd always been interested in digital money and my circumstance was that of having been burnt truly badly in the past by e-gold (you can look it up) -- and I was not ready to throw in more years and wasted effort only to have big brother take it all away from me.

That blinded me from really looking into it. I heard about its cryptography, I heard about its scarcity etc... those were what the media pointed out -- I also heard about rapists/silk road/guns/drugs but those also affected e-gold or any other predecessor so that was normal -- but I did not understand what truly distinguished Bitcoin: that it was trustless and that it was not controlled by any entity.

The second proper time I was introduced to it was in 2015, after ending a long professional career and recovering from a serious illness. When you suddenly don't have employment for this first time in your adult life, laying in hospital bed, you look online:)

I discovered Bitcoin again, found out it had become way more popular than it had ever been... there were even altcoins now and merchants and exchanges.

Oh and there were all kinds of schemes too. Easy money with Bitcoin. Mine and earn and whatever. So I was new to that. But I took my time, learnt and got familiar. Used a wallet, signed a tx, etc. I'm a regular guy. Took me a while. I think any regular person should be able to do this =)

I think new players need a lot of experience to be able to draw a lot of valuable lessons. Besides, we should practice more than study theory. You should stay in this forum longer, read many other people's topics and have a better overview of the market. Opportunities always appear if you know how to capture it. Stay calm when you lose something and find a way to get it back

There are some good rules for this.
If you want to invest in this, then invest in Bitcoin. Never invest in more than 2 alt coins.

Do not invest more than 0.5% of your earnings. Better, if you are new, do not invest your hard earned money in something that you do not know. It is risky, it is like gambling lottery or roulette.

If you have decided to do this, read some books (stock market, forex, etc).  Then try to trade for 15 years on virtual money not on real money. Read everything you can on this, read everything you find on the internet, etc.

After 15 years doing this (on virtual money) you will learn that you can earn good money.

It always starts with doing some good research about the topic. So It would be wise to read the Bitcoin whitepaper (https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-paper) first. Also I would recommend to get to know what a distributed Blockchain network is all about.

If you are about to invest into crypto but also a little bit overwhelmed by all the possible exchanges don't worry too much about that. Just pick the biggest ones in trading volume. This could be Coinbase , Binance or Bitfinex.

I wrote an interesting article about starting investing in cryptocurrency (https://releaseyourdigitaltalent.com/investing-in-cryptocurrency-how-to-start/).Hope this could be helpful!

I’d start with getting a basic knowledge of the crypto world by reading blogs, following crypto news channels and more. Along with this, I’d seek advice from someone who has been investing in cryptocurrencies for a while. Also, the bitcoin forums might be of good help where we clear our queries.
Before investing, I’ll make sure to do in-depth research about the coin. One thing I’ll keep in mind is not to invest all of my saving as cryptocurrencies are just a gamble.

Having no idea on any investment is both risky and will put you in big trouble, not because people are shouting they made millions on Bitcoin it will always apply and you can also do this, you need to first educate yourself, start with the question what and why.

You can proceed with these two questions on Youtube and Google, find out what is Bitcoin and why we need to use it, you need to spend ample time to get to know everything about Cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, and blockchain, from then you can proceed from learning how to secure your investment or coins, this is important, because there will be a time that you are going to invest in a lot of coins.

Do not invest even if you think there is a coin worth buying, you need to first learn how to check if the project is legit and differentiate the good and the bad coins in the market.

It's very tempting to invest when the market is moving up, but there is always a trap along the way and by educating yourself, you avoid those traps.

What are you doing now? Read the book? You invest your savings in bitcoin, maybe you look at other coins (alts) or maybe you see that the price is falling and you're waiting to buy even lower. If so, do you know when to buy? What's your plan for this moment? :)

If ever I am now a newbie, for what am I gonna do is I will invest some of my savings in bitcoin and make some research too
to some other potential coins in the market that are on top listed at the coinmarketcap, then while doing it I feed myself to learn thru
reading books that talking about trading.

Everyone at some point are new to cryptocurrency, no matter how late you a learn or hear about it, there is always time to become an active member of this great space. Because sooner or later a crypto newbie will become a Legend.
If you are referring to your rank here, that does not signifies on your contribution or knowledge about crypto.
The level of comprehension for everyone is very different, some already in crypto for so long but they are still newbie when it comes to making judgement, experience is important but the most important thing is on how to develop yourself and become smart in making good decision.

Here in crypto it's not only about reading or learning in theory, the most crucial part which is needed is to implement what we read and understand in real action, and every decision is very important as it could cost money to us since we are here to earn by risking our own money.

everyone will definitely learn it first before starting, as well as I did when I first learned about bitcoin, because of my interest in learning the world of cyrpto either by reading or asking friends who understand. when you already know something then you can only decide including when to buy coins and when to sell them, because the risk you will receive must be there. all things that will benefit, of course there will be risks.
And, fortunately those who have known and learned about crypto for a long time.

No time is too late to be in crypto just that you coming early gives you hedge over those that came late on profit side and it could be other way round too cos I have seen some that are in for long but still loss in the trading aspect while those coming late still have more home taken than those in for long so the theory of it all is to understand the market.

Exactly this is the step that we must do learning before starting in crypto. We should know the risks and the fluctuation of price in crypto. Before starting let us understand how crypto works and it is good that we continue gaining knowledge like in bitcoin.

There's a local you can stand with so I think I'll on it to learn the basics. So assuming that you'll understand the language because it's your local and you will learn those basics to them. There's also a beginner and help section that will help you to learn what must do and remember in posting here.

If you lack something then search or watch some youtube videos that discuss bitcoin. Everyone has internet now so assuming they can manage to learn it by themselves.

To be honest, I was not enter on bitcoin due to volatility. I was use other digital currency like perfect money if needed. Because that time I wasn't aware about value of crypto-currency. So without basic knowledge I were not invested on bitcoin. And I think most of newbies will do same due to lack of proper knowledge. So it's most important to share our knowledge with newbies.

As the crypto market is a risky business, I'd probably start by getting an in-depth insight into this advancing technology and cryptocurrencies. Besides following some blogs and telegram groups, I'd seek to advise from an experienced person. Further, I'd start by investing a little and increase the amount I move further into this world.

This research does not help in most cases. If you were a new guy again, I bet, you would act spontaneously. In case you would have money, it could be invested in "trends" and mainstreams. Suppose, the first step of each newbie is learning. Self-education will help to avoid mistakes in the future, and trading further, you will be more successful with this business.
Most newbies, the aspect that mostly entice them is the part where the person that introduce them to crypto only explain how they can make moment without telling them the risk in it and how to be cautious with their investment, so like many of us did to when we first started, we just look at the coin, imagine that it would be good because the name sounds nice, and then invest in them randomly lol.

This is why many of us are still holding loads of shitcoins in our portfolio right now, but it is a good thing that the scammers has forced majority of us into knowing that we have to fully know the project we pick before investing in them which is by researching on them, although like you said, it does not work easily like that, but at least it still help a whole lot.

If I were a new comer in vryto, I will invest in what a lot of people know, Bitcoin, before moving on to invest in any other coin. I Will read books and do research online regarding the performance of coins before investing.

I would do everything in order. As everyone already knows, everything begins with the study of the material part. Here is with reading books I would perhaps and began. Then I learned the basics of trading. And only then invested in bitcoin and many altcoins. Here, probably, I would have personally started such a strategy if I were a beginner.

Everything starts in studying and gaining knowlegde in crypto. I would do my best to study all about crypto. I will start investing as long I understand the process in crypto. If a person have the interests and eagerness to learn he will do the necessary guides for him to comprehend the crypto market.

In the first place all of us we are beginners before and Im sure most of us invest in bitcoin and also the altcoins because we are here to earn money and to learn. Many people who are new in crypto did not do what next step they follow the better we gonna do if they ask something help them and give them some information, advice,  and also give them video so they understand well.

You shouldn't say the reason why you're here is because of earning money. First of all, the number one purpose of us being in here is to learn more important information regarding Bitcoin. We shouldn't prioritize earning money, your post will just show to newbies that earning money is a feature of this forum. As a beginner, we should always focus on the knowledge, money isn't the big deal here.

If I was to be a new investor in the crypto space now, I will first spend good amount of time studying and monitoring the patterns in which the price of Bitcoin changes and try to understand the basic factors that usually influence the change in the prices of most cryptocurrencies. I will not be in a rush to invest in any crypto coin. Knowledge is the key instrument needed to have good earning profit margin whenever you invest.

Helping by guiding through the right pattern on investing with crypto is a great way to make it work for them, newbies are very aggressive and easily being manipulated so assisting them with the right impression will make them more competitive, we came from the same place so it's good to see that they also succeed same thing with what we already achieved from this market.

Exactly, let's all get real in here. We are seeking for an alternative income and we all likely gonna be thinking that crypto is a good way of doing it. You can likely make money while prioritizing your privacy. New people aren't actually very aggressive it's just that they lack the certain knowledge and the best way for them to earn can somehow through experience.

Most newbies got scammed easily and most of them as well get discouraged so instead of improving their knowledge in order for them to grow they jump out quickly. While the rest remains and becomes more smarter.

@OP, I where a newbie I will never hesitate to try all of those possible Blockchain features and other alternatives such as alt coins with cautions as well ( I am the type of person who usually put cautions in getting into something I completely do not understand while learning the process)

I think that it's even easier to start investing in crypto this times, than it was when I started. You can find dozens of great affiliate programs connected with cryptocurrency services and this is really nice opportunity to have your savings which you can use later. Moreover, cryptocurrencies are more and more popular so you can find many helpful tools like Galaxy Score (available on CoinDeal (https://coindeal.com/)). This one gives you a prompt you when it's good time to buy, sell or hold each coins. I didn't have such a useful tools when I was the beginner...

Not only in crypto but in everything we do, it is important to learn and understand the fundamentals/basis and be able to convince ourselves beyond any doubt about what we want to venture in. The crypto market has been very volatile and doesn't seem to change anytime soon, so new players are advice to do their underground work very well.

Before joining something new, someone might have lectured you about it before joining. Joining cryptocurrency requires much knowledge and patience for you to excel in it. Crypto is not all about investment rather its about gaining experience of how to store up your asset for future purposes cos we're on digital era now. Everything it's been digitalize

First of all, I think I would start from hearing from my friends and contacts that crypto is a good way to make profit.
Then I would start to Google it for myself, Youtube it and read some forums.
Little by little I would buy some BTC in an exchange and wait for its price to soar. Till then, google more :)

First thing you need to have is knowledge about crypto and with proper knowledge, you won't be able to make lots of big mistakes and at the same time, you will also see the potential of crypto and that will lead you to think of investing.

As we stay longer, that will help us mature and earn more experience and we will also understand the nature of crypto as an investor since it's different compared to other form of digital investment, just imagine that you are in the early stage and the space is not yet regulated, so your venture here is high risk but you would also think of the reward more.
