Title: Why do we thank paid murders and paid power trippers for their service? and not
Post by: TimeBits on July 30, 2019, 02:12:10 AM
Why do we thank paid murders and paid power trippers for their service? and not farmers or people serving the public? like you don`t tip a farmer ever or the guy flipping your hamburgers at a fast food joint, or even say thank you for your service.

I am a farmer, I grew cherries most of my childhood and peaches. I went to the market around 50 times a year for 20+ years. I never got thanked once for my service, I fed millions with my own hands, Never once got thanked from anyone who bought my cherries, not anyone who I helped load their truck. I never got thanks once and been to over 20 different farmers markets, mostly the food terminal in Toronto. You know a real market.

I see we always thanks police officers and military for their service (we pay them to, their wage) we also give them free Timmies here in Canada.

Don`t you think we should be thanking the people that create life rather than destroy it and don`t even get paid tax dollars to do it? or the people that provide a service that is not paid by tax dollars?
Instead we pay people to ticket us, to harass us, or if your unlucky like me to get our face smashed in by 8 of them while in cuffs when were a teen, we also pay murders to kill people and thank them.

Next time some one does your roof, thank them and give them a bonus, for they have a riskier job than the military and don`t get paid your tax dollars to do it. Next time you get groceries thank the teller. Next time you get a hamburger thank the sandwich maker and the grill guy, next time you see a stock boy in a grocery store, thank him for his service.

Thank you.

That fuzzy feeling you get when you think about thanking hard working farmers. And that true patriot sprit you feel when you thank the first responders. These are all the result of propaganda. Essentially brain washing. I am not saying having such feelings is bad, but rather without the propaganda you probably would not have those feelings. So you are right to be cynical because you might actually get the same feelings about sandwich makers if there was a credible propaganda campaign for them too.

Yabut, standard military pay is only a fraction of free market pay. Why should anyone thank you? You charged too much. At least when the military charges, they take out some enemies.

I gave you a couple of merits, but I think the real thanks should go to farmers who avoid the excessive use of poisons from the Big Pharma.

Yah you are welcome, no round up on my fields, just every single other farmer around me in a 10,000,000m radius. Other than this one guy that lives up on the mountain, but the rest of them are cunts for profit, but guess what you see it in every sector, greed at the expense of life, especially the medical.

Your customers are jerks.

Brother, I fed millions with my farm, Made 50 houses+, Cut 5000+ lawns, Flipped 500,000 burgers.

Everyone is a jerk, never once a thank you.

So pretty much what you're saying is: Why should be thank those that put their lives on the line everyday to ensure that you're safe in your home, you're safe in your community, and you're safe from outside invasion (or terror)

While yes, there are some pretty bad people in every profession and when you're in the professions where people are given firearms and have the opportunity to abuse them that's inexcusable. But that's no reason to bash every single one of these people: You don't hate all farmers, teachers, engineers, etc just because there are some people in their profession that are bad people.

Some people are bad, rag on them. Don't put together a whole group of people and call them murders just because they're protecting YOU.

I have to seriously question anyone that joins the police force.  Most of them love the little bit of power they get.  We are all people and should not be bowing down to others playing dress up.   You can't compare this group to farmers and engineers because police is a vastly different animal.

My earlier statement now FURTHER stands.

You're saying that because there is a minority of people in the police force that love to abuse the power that they get, that everyone who is involved in the police force should be questioned on why they're joining. You're lumping the majority of people into this 'I HATE YOU' category just because a MINORITY of the police force abuse their power.

Unfair.

I think a small minority of the police do not abuse their power, at least in my experience I had 1 cool cop encounter, 20+ assholes harassing me or beating me.

Does not seem like a minority to me.

So you're anecdote is somehow supposed to reflect the entire population of police officers in the US just because you think it does? That's just not true, and that's not how any of this works in the least.

A small minority of people in every profession abuse their power. When it's in law enforcement and such obviously it's going to be more destructive, but it's WITHOUT A DOUBT unfair to label the entire group as such.
