Title: looking for people to test my remote mining controller
Post by: maximumpanda on March 15, 2014, 07:46:25 PM
Morning fellow miners,

I have recently been working on a project that allows people to easily setup a control their mining operations using a simple web interface. I am currently still in the barely alpha stage of development, but I was hoping to find individuals interested in testing the platform.

so what can it do right now?

  • control your miner from any computer / phone/ tablet
  • display hash rate and temperature across all active miners
  • remote stop and start
  • remotely change your mining pool
  • support for CGminer and Cudaminer

what will it be able to do

  • support most flavors of miners
  • automatically stop miners if heat raises too high, and automatically restart when cards have cooled down
  • automatically switch mining pool based on profitability.

currently the client side of the software is open source to testers (warning, as it is alpha, the client side is not pretty, but it works)

if you are interested in possibly testing the platform please feel free to leave a message here and I'll private message you login information as I am currently testing database/client interaction performance.

thank you,

panda

Just curious - given that there are several Open Source solutions that do this (and some closed source ones too) - what are you planning to offer that isn't already available? And why start something brand new? There are many web-based monitoring and mining solutions, several active, and I'm sure they'd love contributors. Why the new project?

honestly,
this started as just me messing around wanting to parse out information from a miner. I currently don't know of any options that supports many different mining clients, in fact most of the ones I see around are restricted to CGminer.

the project will be entirely open source when its ready, but I wanted to limit exposure while its still very crudely put together.

I also believe that many of the current options get caught in the fact that they are too over the top complicated for many people to use. mine simply has a login button and a drop down menu, and does everything else autonomously. you don't need to SSH in, or setup firewalls rules, it just works.

I would love to see software that will monitor and allow me switch pools on a schedule. It would also be great if there was a web service that allowed me to give clients a unique URL where they could see the status.

I rent out my miners in hourly increments. Right now I have to set manual alerts to switch pools back to mine or the next client. And I take screenshots, upload them to box.net, and send to users to show status.
