Well!! Popular cryptocurrency expert john McAfee says that bitcoin is waking up again.

What's your point of view on this?

McAfee has the reputation to speak up crazy things. Don't take his words that seriously. I see why people again started to talk about bitcoin. Today the price is $11,710 meaning bitcoin is setting up a bullish trend.

These are the same people who will tell you about a million dollar bitcoin price and when the bear will start hitting the market then they will say bitcoin is a bubble. Do your own due diligence. Bitcoin is here to stay. 1 Btc = 1 Btc always.

It is not good to rely on somebody else's call. Whether it is McAfee or any predictor. Listen to all but follow your strategy. Blindly do not fall for anybodies tweet or signal.

John is such a Captain Obvious. When Bitcoin price goes up significantly - he says that the coin is waking up. If in last 24h price would drop down, what would he say? Its a bear market and we should wait for bulls ?

He has no clue whatsoever.

We have crossed 11000 in last 24 hours and there are many bullish scenario for bitcoin. A bullish run for bitcoin is inevitable and on a long term basis, bitcoin is still the best performing currency.

Well, that's true Bitcoin is showing its fluorescent colors again as it has crossed the $10k barricades after almost three weeks.

First of all he is not an expert of crypto.he is just trying to be a popular. Second, what he is talking about is empty, there is nothing to agree or disagree.empty words. Third the world is still waiting him to such his own d.ck.

I agree with McAfee that Bitcoin is will be going up in the long run.  It is also discussed in many streams of technical analysis in youtube, here is one example (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l73Esut6ESo).  Another example of which is discussed by Chico Crypto that Bitcoin will possibly  reach 20k by the end of this year.  According to him (Chico) there are several reason why Bitcoin will reach this price. I surely trust what McAfee has to say and there is some point in time that his not talking nonsense but all facts about bitcoin, You can truly judge his deduction over what he thinks about Bitcoin but McAfee is a brilliant man he will not say anything stupid without ever thinking about it first or having any knowledge with it,

And my thoughts about what he will contribute to saying such positive things about bitcoin now will sure make a lot of players wants to invest and enter it again and now that we are in a bull run state lets just say that many people will truly believe him.

It's not because someone is smart that he cannot say stupid things.

McAfee, known for shilling any projects, can say anything that he wants, either positive or negative.

Now, what I'm more concern of, why others are taking all his statement as a big deal? Can we just trust our own judgement and analyzation? Does believing on him or let's say all popular names speculations will really help us achieved our goals?

We all know where bitcoin is heading to. No need to rely on any big names speculations and views.

You should expect that words coming from a known influencer since the movement is already moving. I don't know why he is still hyping it though as if we are not yet seeing how strong BTC's movement is now. As if its like he is doing this just because all the attention in the media now is not coming from him but from Craig Wright and libra coin that is why he is trying to make relatable in the crypto world again.

We ourselves see that the last three days, Bitcoin has been steadily growing in price and now it has already reached a price of more than $ 11,700. Therefore, John McAfee confirmed only the obvious. I would more like to hear from him about his earlier given forecast regarding the bitcoin price of a million dollars at the end of the year. He confirms his forecast or not. Otherwise, he will have to fulfill the promise. In my opinion, it is already obvious that we will not see such a price of bitcoin by the end of the year and he lost the bet. So what now are his current forecasts.

It's been awake for quite some time IMO, but I would definitely agree that this is going up in the long run. I don't always agree with what McAfee says (and I don't follow or track his Tweeting and activity much either, nor many people trading at al), but this does echo my long-term thinking in BTC and is a big reason why I'm continuing to DCA weekly and buy dips whenever I have funds available.

I would suggest to not follow the analysis of others too much though. Always best to make your own trading decisions and learn how to if you don't already know how, because it's your own money in play. You should be the one managing it, not somebody else.

I am just stating my own opinion about McAfee I am saying that he is smart because of the fact that he is not against Bitcoin not like Dimon, And my own opinion on trusting his words in bitcoin progressing another height, but sure we are free in stating our own opinion even though I am trusting the guy with every word he said doesn't mean I don't have my own thoughts and my own judgment about the topic, If there are wrong things to say about Bitcoin then I guess I will just ignore it, Because that is his own opinion he can sure still say stupid things once in a while.

All his bold predictions are based on his unknown and private so-called "mathematical models". So he's just a attention whore, and nobody should care about his expectations on the Bitcoin price.

Enough of these bitcoin could go to zero a a million bullshit proclamations. It's not going to die, obviously. It's going up and up in the future because it's represents freedom and independence of the human race. It's impossible to overemphasize the importance of this invention.
Everyone capable of owning a whole bitcoin should acquire it while they still can to be part of the future elite rather than part of the ashes of collapsed fiat.

Um...my point of view is that he's stating the obvious here, except that the long-term growth part remains to be seen.

I just wrote this about Max Keiser and Peter Schiff, that these people state these things in order to generate publicity for themselves--and it's obviously working, because we all have to hear about their crazy predictions or, in this case, a non-statement.  There's nothing significant about saying that bitcoin goes up and down and is now going up again.  I could have said the same thing without going to the media.

Seriously, and that's why I don't pay any attention to crypto news.  The only reason I'm posting about it is because OP brought it to everyone's attention, which was kind of a waste of time.

Well, he is right but he was late in telling us that it's waking up because it has already work up in reality.
Bitcoin growth this year more than 100% is already a proof that it's waking up already.

The funny aspect of his predictions and tweets is that he might be eating his own genitals next year if the price will not reach his desired value :D Now he understood that long term steady growth is apparent while a few years back he thought it would bubble up and reach a million dollars in no time, how quickly some perceptions change  :P ;D. One more thing, i will never mention him as a popular cryptocurrency expert rather i would like to call him a popular troll  :D.

We need to look beyond bitcoin just waking up, but we have to look at how the price can be sustained, because one of the reason why we have always hard a bitcoin fail to break further barrier is because of bears that keeps selling immediately bitcoin experience a little high, if as at when bitcoin was $13800, there was no bears to pull out of the market, I am sure by now, we might have even seen $20,000 already, but the bulls could not continue to sustain the market till it was forced back to down trend.

I hope that this new momentum will bring us to another high peak, and even if it does not, there is still enough time for advancement, I am sure that by the end of the year, it is possible that we set a record of $18000 because more money will flow into the market this last quarter of the year.

Too bad that people still look up to this unstable drug addict. This guy is on the run because the authorities want to confront him with the frauds he has been participating in, and this with a high degree of certainty doesn't even relate to the countless of scam ICO's he promoted. He has been very lucky that there was less oversight back in 2017 and early 2018, but that's no longer the case today.

I start to develop a dislike towards the people calling themselves Bitcoin maximalists, but only wake up when the price is going up. It's very obvious what their motives are. Too bad the bear market wasn't aggressive enough to shake them out. This space is a better place without these imbeciles.

Well John McAfee is really no expert, I mean he suddenly burst into the scene, making outlandish predictions. And later we found out that he is just a shill, and even had a huge asking price to promote coins in his twitter. No one will forget about that deal, all eyes on him when bitcoin price didn't hit as he predicted and there's gonna be a lot of meme and he will be ridiculed for putting his own d**k on the line.

People are often attracted by big names and therefor beleive everything they say, including predictions about Bitcoin. They have influence although they don't actually deserve it.

If you have enough following you create a self-fulfilling-prophecy .... you say it will go up .... people listen to you and buy .... less available .... price goes up ..... (the same for selling)
This sometimes results in a god complex and the idea that they really can predict the price. It all comes crashing down once you lose following.

But, once made the deal which his betting failed, now he is betting his dick over unrealistic amount, how is it possible for bitcoin to turn to that 1 million in a very short term when he cannot buy up all the coins in the market within that time.

They are just trying to take advantage that the market is a speculative one to just talk any figure that they like without making much analysis, and it would have been better if he had used proven analysis to back it up, but one, that is why I don’t follow them that much, I only follow predictions that I know are reasonable and very sure can also be analysis directly to confirm if it’s really going to be that way as speculated or not. I am also waiting for that time also, and he will really be mocked if his prediction does not come to pass.

What I wanna know is how did he got so much attention from all around the world? I mean newspapers and to or just simply all media gives him way too much credit, I know he is a attention liking guy but nobody in their right mind should give this guy a mic to talk, how does he get all that attention?

I get that he once built one of the best anti-virus companies and if I am not wrong he sold it for a lot of money but right now he is literally nobody, he has absolutely no say in bitcoin and he doesn't even seem like a bitcoin expert in the crypto world, we only see him as an idiot. So if these media people just want to get clicks and what not then why are they spending time with him? We don't care and people who are not in crypto don't care neither, so it makes no sense.

I have stopped following McAfee.
This guy has made a lot of wrong assumptions about the price in the past and he seems not to be credible to my eyes. Also, this statement that he made is a bit general and doesn't tell anything.

why do people pay so much attention to what this guy says? I do respect him for his style and ability to stay unperturbed, while he does what he used to, but why should i care about his predictions? John simply expresses his opinion, nothing else.. just an opinion based on his vision on how the whole industry will be developing in the near future. I think he knows better than his followers that he's just having fun and taking a dig at everyone else. All other things equal, and his annoying nature aside, credit to anyone who enjoys life like that, and you can't, no matter what, deny his contribution to the space (however bad or good it may be). Wish I had a bit more of that kind of sass.

A crazy person saying something sane is actually news worthy if you ask me. I mean this is the same guy that said he would eat his own dick if bitcoin didn't reach a million, he is obviously wrong in the head and there is no way he should be actually out in the open, he should have been confined to a mental hospital already.

I guess it's more so that he's banking on the assumption of the mainstream media that he is a billionaire tycoon. In reality, this dude might still have a couple of million, but he's also an addicted lunatic. If it was just that he wouldn't be as heavily disliked, but this dude is also a fraudster that made millions of dollars with his ICO scam promotions.

People trusted that this 'security expert' "billionaire" wouldn't pull off a scam on them, but he ended doing exactly that. Just think about it, why would a self-proclaimed billionaire tarnish his reputation to make a few million left and right? This dude is toasted. No one takes him serious anymore. He suddenly burst into the scene, I read somewhere that he became interested in crypto or bitcoin in general when he left MGT Technologies. Shift his attention to bitcoin and then make an unusual and out of this world predictions. And suddenly people started to follow him and buying his craft, then became this so called crypto influencer which doesn't make any sense at all.


He is no bitcoin or even blockchain expert, he just ride the popularity and people started to think that just because he build one of the successful anti-virus in the world and is a (borderline) genius he could probably do good with his predictions in crypto sphere as well. But we all know it won't happen.

I think the reason why many people pay attentioned to him and its also the same reason why I read his tweets and posts from time to time is because of the name "McAfee". Basically for most people who were involved with computers in the last 20 years, know exactly what "McAfee Virus scanner" is.

Its a very popular software and people have used it in the past or they have heard about it in the past. So when the owner of the company is telling people to invest in Cryptos people seems to want to listen to him because they assume that if he was smart enough to start McAfee virus scanner software then they assume he is a very smart and wise man.

He will say like that over and over, especially if bitcoin grow again after it's down. I am not too surprised about that because if bitcoin is down, there will be a time for bitcoin to go up back. But this time, we see bitcoin is down again so we can hope that in the next days, the price will be going up back.

That is what happens in the market, and it always like that. We should prepare for the worst thing that might happen in anytime so we can prevent the big losses. If the bitcoin price is down, we will have a good time to buy more bitcoin so we can get more profit later.

When it comes to John McAfee and his predictions, first thing on my mind is that old saying, even a broken clock is right twice per day. So same goes for me, he is calling these kind of things all the time, and of course sometime he will be right.

John McAfee isn't a "popular cryptocurrency expert".
He was a programmer(creating the infamous McAfee anti-virus program,which was more like a virus,instead of an anti-virus,and actually,it was created by his employees,not by him).
He is a really bullish crypto enthusiast and people always keep an eye on his opinions just because he's famous and not because he's an "expert"(he isn't). ;D

How exactly did he contribute to this space? Is scamming people a contribution? If that's a yes in your book, then his contribution as con made a lot of people consider crypto a scam and therefore not touch it again.

What bothers me more is that even the more prominent Bitcoiners seem to be cool with this retard. Probably a sign that these Bitcoiners aren't entirely sober or trustworthy either. Cons like to hang out with other cons after all.

One thing that I have learnt from my mentors is t always hold on to a positive aspect of an issue rather than the negative side of it. Mcaffee involvement in cryptocurrency has a negative side and it also has a positive side.

Yes, I agree with you that the thing you said is the bad side of him, which I totally don’t support the way he has been acting, but at the same time, we have to see him as a great influencing factor, who has really influence the crypto industry through his positive predictions about bitcoin, because of his speculation, so many of his believer have all taken step also to at least make effort to have an investment in cryptocurrency, even if I know that some of his predictions are just a way to manipulate the market to his favor, but there is no favor that will come out of his manipulation that we will not also enjoy if we are smart enough.

He is one among the popular personality who often comes up with more price predictions. We don't know what method is being used to predict the market changes. From my view people like John McAfee is required for the market. Whether his predictions come to reality or not, but his statements possibly give a positive thinking about the growth of bitcoin.

Although I have never believed in him, I think he is a person who is impulsive in his tweets, personally I do not believe anything, but in this case, he is saying something very true, it is clear that the volatility is enormous but that the trend is bullish, That is very true, in fact with Wyckoff's theory you can check.In this case I support what he says, because I prefer that he instills confidence and security in the movements that come from bitcoin and not be like some bitcoin enemies, which infuse FUD everywhere, in this case I do agree with him.

I think i've seen that prediction somewhere here. :-\ Who was it that predicted 1M in X year that will gonna eat his own dick in public television. I don't know if this was their plan for making such funny prediction just to gain popularity of their name that will be the headlines in any newspaper. McAfee said it to be heard all over the news first so that he could find followers which then he used to advertise shitcoins and scam ICOs that paid him a lot of money. so ultimately that statement was made to make him money!
he mainly abused the desperation in some people for wanting to see a ton of profit in unreasonably short time.

Mcafee has been positive on bitcoin and that means he is holding large units of it. Bitcoin bullish means increase in his assets and whenever is dumping he might be afraid of losing. Most of all this predictions from popular personalities do came from personal interests and the aim is to infect change in bitcoin price through those comments and not allowed healthy corrections or rally to take place.

His real prediction is $3M to $7M.

He is more then half year to late. Bitcoin starting waking up in February. But better late then never.

What if McAfee miss his prediction by one year, and bitcoin reaches 1 million at the end of this cycle?

What would you do? Would you sell all your stash? Would you sell in the way to one million, or only when it reaches that price?

And McAfee? Would he castrate himself? Or would he delay it one year so that, when bitcoin reaches one million, he finds a relief from his own bet? Or would he cook british food in the television and say it was all a joke?

It's tough to answer right now. There are so many variables that might come into play that we don't think about right now, but will affect our long term game plan.

If Bitcoin ends up reaching prices near the $1 million level, it has probably shown enough strength and demand that I can't see it go back down much lower. I expect similar market behavior as what we see Gold go through. Just for diversification purposes, I will probably cash out 15% to fiat, and convert 25% to Gold. This leaves me with 60% Bitcoin which is perfectly fine with me.  :)

I will never sell my entire stash. That's pretty pointless at a stage where it has become a serious enough asset being worth $1 million.

I'm not waiting for any particular price and I'm certainly not basing my plans on John McAfee's predictions. As a trader, I'm trying to increase my BTC to mitigate any capital I'm pulling out of the market, to keep a healthy stash for the long term. It's been working out well for the past several years, though I took a walloping in late 2015 by staying bearish for too long.

I think BTC will eventually be worth millions a piece......and that's in the back of my mind any time I sell or spend some. I recommend keeping some BTC in a separate cold storage stash that you literally don't ever plan to spend. That could be your children's future right there! You never know.

He is right that it is waking up, in fact, bitcoin's has increase 200% already this year, but I don't agree with the figures he gives on his price prediction.

Good question, I mean just by holding few satoshi, you could be reach if bitcoin reaches 1 million so it's going to be an easy decision for some to really sell their last few satoshi cashing it out and go to the bank laughing. So personally, I would sell some, just enough to make my life easy in the next couple of years and then hold and be optimistic that the price could even reach higher in the future.

AS if BTC is actually sleeping, the volume of BTC everyday says something else when people says its just awaken. Only that day it almost break 11k, market seem to have the sell wall that whales are preventing it from going that high until they decides to go that level.

He was a bad guy and is still a bad guy but there are a lot of people online who still think of him in a good light. I guess you'll always have the fans, no matter who the person is. Bad or good, we're all giving him the attention he craves, so you know, maybe we should just stop talking about him all the time so he can go away.

Awareness. At the very least, we got to give him that. And what you said actually... he burnt a lot of people but hopefully they learnt their lessons. IF you want to go so far as to say he even helped bring on the purge of altcoins by shilling them so much they collapsed under the weight of dumping, that's not wrong too.

Make no mistake, I'm not a fan of anything remotely related to him -- not even his alleged support for libertarianism -- but I've always said that it takes all kinds to make the world go round. And certainly, for something like Bitcoin, it takes ALL kinds and then some. I'm just being objective. We can denounce all the McAfees and Silk Roads as much as we want, but they played their role and we're here today where we are as much because of guys I do like (such as Antonoupoulos) as the guys I don't.

I've also heard people say he's the father of Crypto, I'm a little laughing to hear it. In fact he was only a maker commotion in the Crypto world, many people who did not like him because of his statement, often made FUD and FOMO. 

The only people who see some light in him are the ones who are so "against the system" that they are literally thinking someone is out to get them. There are that type of conspiracy type of people who are always suspicious of everything and they are literally just working to find ways to stay off grid and so forth, those crazy people may have some correct points about how we are all tracked and can be traced but at the same time if you are not an important person you literally have nothing to worry about.

Like let's say government can hack your phone listen to your talks, see your browser history (my god the horror!) and many other privacy related stuff, even if that is true (which is half true) why would they hack YOU, who the hell are you. Hence, the ones that support him are a bit crazy.

i somewhat agree with things you said here but not this part. it is not about disliking him and it is not an extreme stance because what he has done was not a small thing, he has misled a lot of people specially newcomers and caused a lot of loss for them. you might argue that it is their own fault for falling for his scams but that still doesn't justify the things he has done.
what i am referring to is the endorsement of multiple scam ICO projects which later we found out that he got paid to do. if this was real world and any other market and he was for example endorsing an scam IPO then he would have been behind bars right now.

On another note, bitcoin seems to be asleep right now, that is how wrong john can be.
We have moved about 300% from April to June, then ever since the price has been around 10-13 without moving outside of it.

He could literally make up a coin toss result and I would gladly bet against him and more often than not I would win, he is that much wrong about everything that he would lose a 50% chance bet most of the time. Not that I believe anything John says but I like his regular appearance in the news and social media. He doesnt fear any one but focuses on his course on crypto and he doesnt care whichever way his predictions go, though in most case his predictions are highly exaggerated.

Yea going to fly to the 1.000.000 USD as he said before. I don't understand why people believe this guy. What is his specialty to predict this price? He is just a big programmer which is not enough to predict the BTC future price for me.

I can believe only the part where he said that "Bitcoin is waking up again and the long term gain is ascertain".
Other things coming out of his mouth about BTC price is the going the other way round.
I use to have so much respect for this guy but not so much since he started making price prediction based on fantasy.

This man doesn't deserve respect imho on my part but well we do have different inputs and views towards people but this man do say BS thing neither
positive or negative towards bitcoin but Mccafee is a permabull so its expected that this man will most likely speculate high prices towards bitcoin.
I cant deny that I do believe that anytime bitcoin would wake up but not this time but at least we are seeing some recovery of prices came from 3k price dump.
For now lots of so-called experts and famous personalities popping up like mushrooms telling their price predictions neither these guys do already invest on the bottom and
trying to pump the price by spreading FOMO news.
