Title: [July 2020 Update] Kalemder Merit Source Application for the Turkish Board
Post by: Kalemder on September 11, 2019, 12:23:41 PM
Hello, I'm Kalemder. This is my Merit source application. Let me talk a little bit about myself...
I have been actively following this forum since 2015 (passively since 2012). I am an active trader (My trade logs: 1 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5146097.0)-2 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1904236.0)). I am also a content writer and designer. I am Self-made Legendary and one of the winners of the art contest (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193860.msg53002575#msg53002575). I read and write articles in this forum for hours every day. I am a resident member in the Turkish section. In short, I love this forum very much. This place is like a home for me. I love giving people the value they deserve. I want to serve for this forum I like. I am ready to bear this responsibility.

Turkish section is a very valuable section for bitcoin and other crypto coins. Turkish section is the third most active local section of the Bitcointalk forum. Turkey is a paradise for crypto. Look at the following data:

https://cdn.statcdn.com/Infographic/images/normal/18345.jpeg https://cdn.statcdn.com/Infographic/images/normal/15137.jpeg

Turkish section is the 3rd most active local section of this forum.

Based on the criteria, the top 5 active local boards are:
  • Russian: 1505 posts/day
  • Indonesian: 545 posts/day
  • Turkish: 376 posts/day
  • Chinese: 213 posts/day
  • Pilipinas: 174 posts/day

Unfortunately, the activity in Turkish section is gradually decreasing. The reason of this; members write quality articles. But they can't get the merit he deserves. We have very valuable Merit Sources but they are not enough. More resources need to be allocated. It should be allocated to more people. In this way, it becomes both fairer and more decentralized.

There are big supply problems in local section. There are many members who write valuable articles. But they can't get the value they deserve. Writers in other languages take too much merit, even for a simple message. There is an unfair supply distribution. We only have 2 merit sources that actively distribute. The remaining sources are either no longer active or have very few merits.
Example:

Sent in the last 30 days: 5 Merit (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=158960)
bu merit dağıtma işi biraz baydı beni, çok girip dağıtamıyorum zaten başka kaynaklarda var onlarla işini görüyordur insanlar diye umut ediyorum  : P
Translate: I'm tired of this merit distributing job, I can't log in to the forum too much, I can't distribute it anyway. There are other sources, I hope people are doing business with them : P

Sent in the last 30 days: 11 Merit (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=434984)
merit kaynağıyım ama kendime hayrım yok. bu aralar pek merit almadım. ~
Tranlate: I'm a merit source, but I don't have much. I haven't received much merit these days. ~

Under this topic, I will quote the merit-worthy messages. And I'll write a short, English description at the beginning of each message. You, dear members, can review these posts. And you can value Turkish section. There are a lot of quality articles that merit deserve. So I will add it here regularly.

Thanks to everyone. May the force be with you...

Turkish section is a very valuable section for bitcoin and other crypto coins.
Unfortunately, the activity in Turkish section is gradually decreasing.
The reason of this; members write quality articles. But they can't get the merit he deserves.

What you wrote seems like you are apply to become merit source, only you did not explicitly state it in your post.

Turkish local board is only for the Turks, and how much it's worth is only known to those who understand Turkish. Except in some exceptional cases people will not use translators to read post in local boards. I would not say that only Turkish local board is affected with lower activity, what attracts people to being active is the price of Bitcoin and the opportunity to make money with posting.

You need merit source/s for your board, and I see at least one member applaying for that recenty, maybe you can also go in that direction.

Thank you for your answer, sir.
I don't intend to be the source.
When there is distribution from a source;
some members may misunderstand it.

What I want; everyone should see these hidden precious posts. These are understandable texts when translated. This makes distribution fair and efficient. That's what I think. In this way, local section can gain the mobility it deserves, again...

Why not make it a try on @LoyceV's thread [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5093271.0)? If there are few merit source on your local board why not make as well a try that way you don't need to ask always for others to merit you think needs some merit or that really deserves it.

I don't intend to be the source.
Why not? I think you should. You have already presented posts that you think deserves more merits and all that is needed is a formal application. It's you who understand the language better.

I tried translating a portion of the topic on tax and can't help but smile. This is probably why some merit sources don't bother using online translators.

Mutlaka vergiyi ödemeniz gerekecek. Normalde herkes dolar aldım vergisi yok zanneder. %40lara varabilir. Devlet açmış gözleri bekliyor. Oturacağız yakında kucağına.

You'll have to pay the tax. Normally everyone thinks there's no tax on dollars. But he also has a tax. If you earn more than an annual amount, they'll crash. Maybe that's why one crypto currency fund can be set up and people may only have to pay corporate tax and income tax on that fund (through the company). And that's not a small amount. It can reach 40%. The state is waiting for the eyes to open. We're going to sit on your lap soon.

But a merit source would be much better for your local board rather than asking for other members to send merit to that board. Of course the biggest benefit here is a local merit source would understand what they are saying and they are more qualified to send merits to that local board. You seem like a good member as well as a generous merit sender so you will be a good addition as a merits source for the forum, your local community will be happy as well if you are one.

Spent a few merits.

I don't care about being a source or not. This is a decision the manager can make.
But you have to formally apply first before admin can decide whether or not to make you a merit source.

In some cases, users did not express any desire to become merit source, it was decision of admin who estimated that they are suitable for the task. When merit system is introduced no one is apply for merit source, today is something different, but I still see some members who become merit source without apply for that (at least not publicly).

Best way to distribute more merits to local boards is to have more merit sources there, imagine if only one member from each local board come in Meta and start topic like this.

Being a source is a big responsibility.
Applying to be a source would be crazy.
But I also want; Turkish Section needs to gain the activity it deserves.
I'm not willing to be a source. There are many more valuable members can do this.
Anyway, I think that's the manager should think about.

All I can do is continue :)

sMerit distribution is rather irregular overtime, ranging over the last year from a minimum of 185 (April 2019) to a maximum of 1.220 (June 2019). Last month's distribution was of 343 sMerits, aligned to some of the early months this year (see https://public.tableau.com/shared/JP9ZF4DN5?:display_count=yes&:origin=viz_share_link). Top sMerit senders displays as follows: https://public.tableau.com/shared/G7K8D5DSB?:display_count=yes&:origin=viz_share_link

The number of net posts created is sliding since April 2019, and not just because of the Alt coin section, but also in sections such as Bitcoin news, (see https://public.tableau.com/shared/4GK3JSSJS?:display_count=yes&:origin=viz_share_link).

From a numerical stand point, and without crossing the information further, it’s difficult to show a clear cut case (on other occasions its results easier). The way the OP is going about it is how I would do it: bring up bags of good unmerited post to proof a point (although, in my opinion, the more recent the posts the better - i.e. over the last couple of months).

Excellent list,

and thanks also to @DdmrDdmr for the informative graphs.

It's true that a lot of the earlier posts went unmerited in the Turkish section for about a year, and some users got demotivated during that time and left the forum and haven't been back since...

Now there are 3 active Merit distribution threads in the local section encouraging people to link their valuable posts, and I would argue that the recent merit distribution has been well balanced and inclusive, maybe with the only proviso that one of the former merit sources seems to have gone quiet for the last 1-2 months, so an additional merit source and / or increase in the quotas of the existing active sources can be beneficial.

So I think that the best approach would be, if you don't want to apply, to convince somebody else apply; of course, it'll have to be somebody suitable...

I don't care about being a source or not.
But obviously you care whether good posts get merited, so wouldn't it be ideal if you had enough sMerits to do it yourself?  Wouldn't it be much less work for you?  Lol.

More merit sources in the local boards is a great thing.  This allows members to earn merits by posting in a language they know best and keeps them from trying to post in English if they don't really know that language.  The more merit sources in the local boards, the better IMO.

Thank you for the good wishes and for your positive approach.
<snip>
What else can I do?
Did you ever apply to be a merit source?  I don't remember it if you'd made a thread and I don't think you did.  Maybe change the title of this thread to reflect your application to be one?  Or start a new thread.

Anyway, I think it's a good idea if you applied.  I don't know anything about the Turkish section except that it's pretty active and another merit source in that section would probably help a lot.  Good luck if you do apply.

I don't think being a source of merit is simple. It's an endless job and it is not just sending merit to what you like. A responsibility. A justice...

I don't think Merit's aim is to just evaluate what he likes. Merit should be distributed fairly for all those who contribute to the community.

When I think about all this, I think @Kalemder is very suitable for this. To support this, I added him to my trust list. I think he is a forum member who has made a valuable contribution to the Turkish section. I hope he gets the credit he deserves.

Generally, I really think that local sections of this forum needs more merit source members.
As we know, local members don't write posts only in English part of the forum but also in their local languages.
If there is no merit source who can understand language, some good quality posts will never receive merit what is not good.
IT seems to me that Kalemder is very good and respected member in his community so I support his application to become merit source.
It seems to me that lately members have to wait longer to become merit source after their applications, and I don't know why.
Maybe admins are to busy.

Thank you for your support.

Lately many local members are complaining. Although they send really valuable articles, they don't get what they deserve. On the other hand, too much merit is given in other sections. They think it's unfair. It is almost impossible for a member to jump to the top rank by writing in Turkish. This reduces their motivation. I'm sure you'il understand.

I understand ''that feeling'' very well.
That was one of the main reasons why I personally wanted to become merit source and to help and support members in my local community.
I even started topic where they can report their good quality posts, in local section or in English part of the forum, so that I can reward really good posts with merit.
I hope that soon you will be able to support your local community in the same way.
Don't give up and be persistent.

Of course, it is so important how many merit sources in a community but it is not enough. Especially have a justice feeling. I support Kalemder because he has justice for me.
I think Kalemder should get that merit source thing but it won't solve problems, just there will be a little help someone who deserves it.
I am not mentioning just my topic. We are seeing a lot of topic and posts in here forum. Because I am online at least 10 hours here. Some post (needles one) gets 20-30 merits, but some posts (great ones) gets only a few merits. I am sorry for that, but we can not do anything. I am trying to reach 250 merit for being SR. Member. But community is not helping for creavity, good job or something.

Wasn't the purpose of the merit event the reward of creativity and contribution to the community at first?

The members of Turkish local forum have clearly not received merits they deserve since the merit system.

I don't know if Theymos wants to choose a new merit source, but Kalemder is the best option to add a new source.

Dear manager and chief Mr. Theymos,

15 days is not over yet. All sources finished smerite. Even though they send very little Smerit to each message...
This indicates that the Turkish section has exceeded its capacity.
Users can't find what they deserve. They don't think it's a fair order.
In this case, managers need to create more supply.
Also, it is more objective if more people are authorized.

I think, active local sections deserve more sources. More sources are needed to make more objective judgments. We think that the number of smerit allocated to the Turkish section is very small. Thanks @Kalemder

I've been in the rank of Sr for about 2 years. My rank hasn't changed since the Merit system arrived. There is an abundance of merits globally. In the local area, there is famine.

My English is not enough. Thank you for your interest and sensitivity recently.

We can objectively state that the recent increase in sMerits has boosted activity in the Turkish section and there is a visible effort amongst even some former dormant members to contribute higher quality and more well thought out messages, knowing that there is a greater chance now for them to be merited.

Therefore it's a net positive to have more sources in the local section, Kalemder's observations of continuing scarcity are also correct, there is ample room in the Turkish section for an increase in overall sMerit allocated to Turkish sources & 1-2 additional new sources (as a few former sources are mostly quiet now)...

Kalemder, based on this facts, it seems you really need more merit sources for your local section.
In this forum, it seems to me, we really have a problem with local sections and languages.
We have people who don't speak good English and therefore write good posts in their local languages, but the problem is that very few people can read and understand these posts.
If local section don't have enough merit sources to reward such good quality posts, this puts local members in an unequal position compared to forum members who can write in English and many more merit sources members can see and reward their quality posts with merit.
I hope theymos will choose more merit source members in your local section and solve this issue.

Thank you for your support.

Dear manager and chief Mr. @Theymos, look at these. These messages contain great information and hard labor.
But about 15 days ago Merit was over. Merit Sources have no merit left.
That's why they can't win merit they deserve.

Title: Re: [March 2020 Update] Kalemder Merit Source Application for the Turkish Board
Post by: Kalemder on March 14, 2020, 05:30:25 PM

Thank you for your interest @Theymos.

In the local areas it is really important to have motivated sources and generous other users.
If there are already sources that officially ask for a replacement, this should already be heard.
It does not concern me but I hope you will soon get the desired solution :)

Thank you very much for your support @Mole0815. Your support is very meaningful to me.
I love this forum. And I want the local department to be much more active. I want the quality writers to get the value they deserve.

May the quality be with you.

Because of all the skullduggery associated with that handful of merit abuse and fake trust circle members from the Turkish language board I would prefer that until an appropriate time passes (maybe 12 months from today) there would and should be no need to consider anybody from that board for merit source.

Several highly unsuitable members from the Turkish language board have managed to get to DT by lots of manipulation and fooling the system, thankfully they have been in and out and remained fixed for long periods. Sure, if they were not part of a merit abuse and fake trust circle then there is no problem but several of them have been.

I am not saying you are or you are not part of their group, I am simply stating for now no members from the Turkish language board should be allowed to become merit source purely for the sake of remaining neutral so it stops others from that board claiming discrimination.

I think 12 months from today (so 15th April 2021) should be the earliest before your application should be put forward before being considered by members whether to support or not.

Sounds like pointless collective punishment and plays right into the hands of the whiny "racism" gang. If someone deserves to be a merit source they should be considered for that position regardless of what other shitheads might be posting on the same board.

Yes suchmoon I concede you have a point, any and all applications should be based and considered fairly. I should have worded that reply in a better and more understandable manner.

I am not saying you are or you are not part of their group, I am simply stating for now no members from the Turkish language board should be allowed to become merit source purely for the sake of remaining neutral so it stops others from that board claiming discrimination.

Sounds like pointless collective punishment and plays right into the hands of the whiny "racism" gang. If someone deserves to be a merit source they should be considered for that position regardless of what other shitheads might be posting on the same board.

You and your racist hatred. There is freedom of thought in this forum. You are trying to punish me for my thought. Actually only because of your racist hatred. Those who support you, are unsuccessful in the justice exam.

You wrote a negative for no reason. That's why I put you on my disttrust list. This is what I recommend to everyone.

I wish you healthy days.

Here we go again.... one of the members of the merit abuse and fake trust circle has decided to throw the racist card again.

Anybody posting the following for a known merit abuser and fake trust participant such as Vispilio should not be taken seriously: "I wish you success. 👍 A reliable member we've known for years. I believe he will organize Campaign Management well."

Should this particular user called Kalemder be considered for Merit Source? No

Then who will send merit for useful members in turkish local? Or they shouldn't grow, eh? I doubt that all turkish board (which one of the biggest) is consists only from Vispillio and his friends. Maybe you shouldn't be so categorical, eh?

Having said that there is conclusive evidence this particular users called Kalemder is not suitable to be considered for Merit Source:

That's much better to hear  :) I mean really weird to create collective punishments and accuse innocent people. For example, mindrust from turkish board, and he is not from such gang

There are big supply problems in local section.
Stop lying and GTFO already. You are the definition of evil like many other people you associate with. Stop trust farming, stop gaming the system, stop shitposting only when you are in a signature campaign, and then forward 5 years into the future and you can be considered for anything.

Then who will send merit for useful members in turkish local?

You have answered your own question. The only reason mr. Kalemdar wants this is that he can distribute more merit to his friends for further attempting the DT system. Guess what: DT or not, OP you can forget good signature campaigns.

You are spot on Lauda, you have listed the issues from account farming to playing the system and everything else in between but there is denial on his part and on part of those he is regularly colluding with.

If memory serves correct I think Kalemder managed to get on to the Chipmixer signature campaign and lasted just days before he kicked off it, I cannot be sure maybe someone can confirm. Strange that even after he made it on to that campaign he managed to mess it up. Oh well...

This is correct. Many complaints were sent to DarkStar_ informing him of the actual character and nature of this individual and he was swiftly kicked out (he only posts for profit mostly).

@lauda, @jolly, @nullius All your purpose is money.  Isn't it?  Your moral values are based on this.  You don't think of the community.  You somehow manipulated the trust system.  You set up your own hegemony. According to you, the whole Turkish community is filth.  People are walking away from the forum. Forum traffic is falling, because of you and your hatred. I don't care about you.  You don't deserve to be Dt.  I ignore you are.

You should better put a mirror on your own face and see how it relates to you. Merit circling abuse, biased inclusions and exclusions in your own trust lists to from fake trust circles in the urge of power and the biggest crown on your head of abusing the trust system with your filth buddies.

You are nowhere to pass judgements around OP. You can create your own thread to ramble about it, your one comment show's you don't support the application. That's enough rather than spamming with your fake accusations on the application thread.

Kalemder got that award before he was outed as colluding with the fake trust circle and merit abuse gang (which you also were/are a part of) therefore it has no value in the opinion of most people.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5231720.0

Therefore should conduct thorough research before believing anything that he says.

If the reader is too lazy to conduct personal research then safest bet would be to just cast aside anything he says as lies.

I see no evidence of this applicant being greedy at least not anywhere near the greed and dishonesty of lauda or other merit sources.
Members should support more merit sources from outside of the corrupt circle of merit sources we have  now that like to hoard merit among themselves and close political allies. Or fellow scammers.
