Title: Free lightning tests
Post by: jackg on September 23, 2019, 01:32:18 AM
I noticed a couple of threads on here offering tests for the lightning network in a form of a loan and they seem to have a lot of restrictions so I'm going to make one a bit nicer...

Terms:
• Amount: 10 000 satoshi
• No interest will be charged on this
• Anyone can apply but I can pick who I lend to
• If you use the eclair mobile wallet you should be able to open up a channel with an ability to receive coins via the lightning network but you'll have to turn this on before opening a channel (it's in settings).
• I need invoices to be between 11AM and 11PM GMT+1:00, expiry time should be set to 6 hours (this can be found in settings)
• Full repayment should be made within 7 days, I won't personally tag you but I can't control what others do and it may harm any future trades if you don't repay. No merit will be awarded directly for repayment either.
• You have to send 125% of what you can receive on eclair. If you want me to send you 0.0001, you must have previously sent 0.000125 for it to be accepted by your app (you can swipe across from putting your pin in after loading up the wallet to see how much your channel can receive).

last edit to fix bbcode: terms are the same

from what I remember there is a higher fee to end a channel anyway
My last channel took around 2400 satoshi to close. It depends on the Bitcoin fees at the moment of closing (Sunday mornings are usually cheapest).

Apart from the typo: be very careful with QR Code generators and Bitcoin: many are scams (https://cointelegraph.com/news/four-out-of-five-top-bitcoin-qr-code-generators-are-scams-report)!

Good luck :) Promoting LN is good :)

That's interesting, I've been using that generator for a while to transfer partially signed txs and addresses but it's probably best they just copy the request in code tags.

And thanks!

Sorry to ask but what is the minimum/maximum amount you are offering usd-wise? I need $300 (in bitcoin) to purchase a antminer d3. from a local store

99 cents on current price...

This is merely something to test the lightning network. You won't get a loan for the antminer here  as it isn't backed by any collateral.

Hello, I read in your OP that other LN lenders have restrictive qualifications, can you give some examples please?

I have a question about your loan, what's your position on giving out merits, or trust/feed back?  As @suchmoon said in this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5149962.msg51324747#msg51324747):

@LoyceV - may I suggest explicitly stating your trust feedback policy because... you know... trust farmers.

Edit to avoid offending touchy newbies.

Also, what is your position in regards to late loans? What action will you take?

I'll be the first to take out a loan:

Code:

I'm pretty sure @LoyceV only charged a token interest fee to cover the TX.

Just one final question, can you give examples of your LN loans to "help out newbies (http://archive.fo/I28KZ#selection-503.231-503.347)"?

No its based on personal opinion

I have a question about your loan, what's your position on giving out merits, or trust/feed back?  As @suchmoon said in this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5149962.msg51324747#msg51324747):

I don't normally touch trust unless it's worth more than $200.

Also, what is your position in regards to late loans? What action will you take?

I don't intend to bring trust into this but this will also be down to my own opinion...

I'll be the first to take out a loan:

Code:
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

Alright I'll send to thi slater today.

I'm pretty sure @LoyceV only charged a token interest fee to cover the TX.

Which is why I didn't open a service while he was actively running his lending system...

Just one final question, can you give examples of your LN loans to "help out newbies (http://archive.fo/I28KZ#selection-503.231-503.347)"?

No in a short answer... I don't want to go digging through my entire transaction history here and it's a few pages down in pm. I can't seem to find it in bitcoin lightning wallet either (a transaction history for a closed channel).

I think I may have left it too long as it wasn't recognising invoices.

Ohhh I don't recognise that site.
I only know the site from Lightning Network Stores (https://lightningnetworkstores.com/), but until recently I didn't know how to deposit through LN (it's just called "SATS" on the site (I won't post the name here because I've barely tested it)).

Quote
Funds sent, let's see how you do!
Received!

Okay, a small review of BC.Game: I won a bit, then lost it all on CRASH. Luckily, it wasn't my own money :P

Then, I deposited 20000 sat again, went half-in, and won back your money, only to lose it again.
So I deposited 20000 sat again, and won it back again :P Time to quit, this stuff is addictive.

Yesterday, my first withdrawal (of 2500 sat only) needed manual review and expired before it was processed. I tried again later, and after a while it was processed. According to the chatbox this was because it's the first withdrawal.
Today, my withdrawals were instant, just like my deposits. I really like LN for small amounts of play money, and I wouldn't want to wait for on-chain confirmations.

If you post a request for 11000 sat, I'll pay you back :)

10%'s not bad for 24 hours work.  I'm in the process of adding another node/channel to each of my three LN wallet as the send & receive to jackg took quite a number of tries.  I think there needs to be a rethink how to keep the channels open (or, the programs such as Eclair) on mobile devices when the phone wants to cut them off.

It's just $0.085, but I mainly like to encourage initiatives that use LN. I really hope this can lead to mass adoption by enabling cheap small transactions.

I think (but haven't tested it) you can use (custodial) wallet BlueWallet to connect to your own node. If that works, you don't have to connect to any third party, and as long as your node is online, you can receive transactions (controlled through your mobile wallet).

Yep - that'll do - I didn't see you're online.

There's also a one year option:

https://talkimg.com/images/2023/05/16/blobd0b7eda8d3931a66.jpeg

ZAP https://github.com/LN-Zap/zap-desktop

(not sure how you're supposed to get a one minute option sent and filled)??

Shame there's no decade option, I could send you 0.0001 on the next anniversary of the forum!

A week and a month options make a lot of sense though (and a day option).. Is that on desktop (i remember it was zap from your other thread)?

(I have notify on - was scrolling through other social media lol).

I thought there was a "never" option, but I guess they had to draw the line somewhere.

Zap is on PC while Eclair is on two mobile devices.  I've hit on the idea to have the repayment go to Zap (one week repay request) with the six channels more or less inbound only and the mobile phone which has just one inbound ( AQ.. ) is loaded up with the funds from the Zap wallet.  If I find somewhere I could send my LN funds and they some them back as on-chain funds, then I could load up dozens of inbound channels on the PC to enable repayments to occur first time, every time.  I've also worked out the two mobile devices do the funding to others which creates inbound on those devices too.

Lender --> My Zap Wallet ->> (either Mobile device Eclair Wallet) --> next lender

https://lightning-roulette.com/ let you withdraw for free over 0.007 but you might actually have to gamble for them to do that (not just placing 0.0035 on odd and 0.0035 on even)...

I've got about 0.001 inbound space if you want to use it (and I can send 0.001 on chain) but that's not much.

The decade figure could probably be encoded but I haven't looked into payment request format (I'll do it now).

I've used CoinPlaza.it for this (referral link in LoyceMobile's signature (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1903546)). 101010.10 LN-sat gets you 0.001 BTC on-chain. It is by far the cheapest option I've found.

The decade figure could probably be encoded but I haven't looked into payment request format (I'll do it now).
From what I understand, you'll need to keep the exact same LN-channel open for that long. I don't think that's very useful, chances are even the computer that's running it now won't be used in 10 years.

I got a tip off from @LoyceV about a lightning network to block chain exchange https://www.coinplaza.it/ (https://www.coinplaza.it/?ref=7a5b7z6ff6d942b66c) - basically I'm emptying my already in place channels into one inbound channel then sent through CoinPlaza back to myself as block-chain and then I'm adding new channels in new locations thus doubling my channel count and giving me ample inbound and outbound capacity.

My always on PC Zap wallet will have most of the inbound capacity and my mobile phone most of the outbound (so I can send on the go & make repayment requests if it's going to be hours before I get home to create a 24 hour repayment request) and my tablet has a small amount of capacity in reserve which I'm trying to half empty to give it a mix of inbound/outbound capacity.

I wouldn't mind messing about some more with Lightning... I'm using BlueWallet... and I *think* I did this correctly...

Code:
lightning:lnbc100u1pw7rk3epp5qgpza3f7shka50ndguqxmt9kx64nt25ccdtq9eqd2kjgts9zaersdq9fpp4qxqyz5vqcqzysrzjq2ldrqfd8qj00nzve5ud5htx520ulmq5dl54ufkd9cxnlycdv5ag6zyusgqq44sqqqqqqq05qqqqqqgqpc9q0tcs9rddfsdqd8cxj7skgck4srp4dyjhlajccky6wvxta5k23q33vz9mwmq8z70084tzja6mpevz2rknj6zee6uz2y0rmfkkzkcscqwt2g25

I assume I just need to send 10000 sats back at some point?

Let me know when/if you want a repayment request, or you could try a few other things on the ln.

BlueWallet seems to have some strange issues... it was showing TWO lots of 10,000 sats with the "HCP" request details for a while... one "confirmed" (Green dot) and one "pending" (blue dot). :-\ Decided to take a screenshot... and just as it takes the screenshot, the blue one disappeared and it is now only showing one! ::) ::)

Anyway, send me a repayment request and I'll see if I can not screw that up as well ;)

Yeah I'm using éclair and it seems a bit strange as the balance subtracts the amount and then it's added back recursively until the funds go through. We're still probabky in alpha stage with this though so I assume things will look more normal later on.

I think the app on my side doesn't stay online for long.
When I made a fresh install of Eclair, it showed a popup which mentioned problems with the app running in the background. It's probably an Android feature, but I haven't really found it yet. There are too many apps competing for background-memory.

I think one of my Eclair apps updated itself as I've started getting that message.  I've noticed the other Eclair App (on the tablet) seems to keep running with the screen off while the tablet is plugged into the power supply.

I changed it from automatic to always on before sending the payment request. There's probably a lot of apps running in the background. I've got to do some work anyway in about an hour so if you're available, I can leave my phone on and see if it can accept anything (should be around for 12 hours).

Sounds good, create a request and I'll see if I can send it now...

Also, I'd be keen to see if you can send a request back if my app isn't actually on and running. That would be something I should test too! Be good to know if the app needs to be open in the foreground to work properly.

Yeah... I just opened my wallet up now and saw this:
https://talkimg.com/images/2023/11/15/zojLv.png?1

I think it might actually be because I just realised that my "BlueWallet" lightning wallet is actually just linked to a Telegram Bot Lightning Wallet... @lntxbot https://t.me/lntxbot (you use the /bluewallet command in Telegram and it provides an LND hub URL which you can enter into BlueWallet)

So, this bot is probably running 24/7 and will be able to receive regardless of what I'm doing on my end! :P ;) Which is great... but then fails on the "not your keys, not your coins" test! ::)  I've actually no idea how to get coins out of this wallet into a standard bitcoin wallet!!?! I should probably investigate how to do that at some point... :D :o :-X

I posted my solution (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5186778.msg53154779#msg53154779) for LN > on-chain last week. The minimum is 1 mBTC, if you buy Dogecoin you can go as low as 1000 Doge.
I don't mind keeping a small amount in a LN-wallet without owning the keys, and all this can be solved when exchanges start acceping LN deposits (people keep billions of dollars in exchanges anyway).

Update: zigzag.io (which I haven't tried yet) has a lower minimum amount, but charges higher fees.

I've never tried to connect to that node.

There wasn't any options to cancel the connection either, so I just had to wait until it came good.

I've lost a 0.004 transaction that left one Éclair wallet but never arrived at the other Éclair wallet, so it's also a waiting game....

I saw you mention it in one post and thought I might have better long term connection plus node activities with nodes that would usually have higher foot traffic.

LN or on-chain? I never tried such high amounts off-chain.
What would happen if you close the channel?

That would make sense, but I gave up on creating my own channels for a while. I have some active on Testnet, and stick to a custodial wallet for the real Bitcoin.

On chain - I closed all channels on the tablet and saw they were showing as back in the chain value, got a BTC wallet address from my Éclair on my phone and sent them. The wallet address and qr code after a short while changed to a new wallet address, but no confirmation they'd arrived.

On chain
Have you tried: menu (3 dots) > Network Info > RESET NETWORK DATABASE (on the receiving wallet)?
I've had it too that Eclair didn't show confirmations for an on-chain transaction long after it was confirmed, and resetting the database solved it.

If that doesn't work, you can use your seed phrase to restore the wallet (or private key) through other means.

I wasn't game to as I thought it was some sort of factory default reset/scrub everything from the app.

Oh man... I think I've really done it now... I finally got LND working (apparently, you need to have "datadir" specified in bitcoin.conf so LND can find the bitcoin datadir!?!?)... and I got ZAP wallet setup with it as well... Meant to fund it with 100,000 sats... accidentally sent 1,000,000 ::) ::)

Then realised, it wasn't actually in the LND node wallet... but in some random wallet I created in ZAP ::) ::) I should really learn to do these things on testnet first! :P

Anyway, now waiting for the channel funding transactions to confirm (yay for 20 minute block times ::)) and then I can try playing with some of this money and see how it works with my own wallet instead of the custodial BlueWallet.

EDIT: Finally got it up and running... anyway, I'm having some "inbound capacity" issues... so is there any chance we can do a "reverse" loan? Where I send you money first... and then I get it back later? If so, please post up a payment request for anything under 100,000 sats (preferably valid for 24 hours) and I'll see if I can pay it ;)

Title: Re: Free lightning tests

I have an invoice here but with a warning your inbound amounts don't increase like your outbound ones do as the increase at something like 80% of what you send... I think that's how it works anyway, not looked into everything fully yet...

I like testing with actual crypto it makes me concentrate more but that could just be me...

Anyway here's the request if you want to go ahead:

Code:
 lightning:lnbc200u1p0q4y4spp55z6frtxjt3kqqw6stzzvkp0wng2xyk7w2mryl5e8s8l663xrxg6qdp2dfnjqen9wd6xjan9ypkxjemgw3hxjmn8ypex2um5yqxqr4rqrzjqwryaup9lh50kkranzgcdnn2fgvx390wgj5jd07rwr3vxeje0glc7zf4hyqqgucqqqqqqqlgqqqqqeqqjqqhx37lek0uyt42w4tx6g795m4a8mzks26yf3n2j4s8t4e4mmyv8y4r50kh4w38kl3yzh9h3ru08k62mjyudslzy27a3cgydfdfnqe0spjss4gy

My node may drop off in half an hour though but I'll send another one tomorrow if so...

You can refund yourself the 900000 sats via CoinPlaza.IT (https://www.coinplaza.it/?ref=7a5b7z6ff6d942b66c) by sending them funds via LN and receiving them back via the chain.  You will have 900,000 inbound and 100,000 outbound capacity without having to buy it from any third party nodes.

I've found 0.0025 transfers works ok (I have a channel open to them) but higher amounts (on just about any channel) don't always go through)

I must admit... my lightning knowledge is not quite as good as I thought it was... :-\

Is the idea just to goto their exchange and send them whatever sats I have and request it back to the wallet on-chain address? I don't understand how that will create inbound/outbound capacity if I do that? ???

Am I supposed to create a channel first? As I can't seem to create a channel to coinplaza.it at this time... I'm just getting "funding errors" when trying to create the channel (tried 250k, 200k, 150k and 100k). So I'm guessing they're not accepting new channels or they're out of capacity or something? :-\

Each LN channel is like a pile of coins, "shared" between (only) 2 parties. At the moment, all coins are on your side, so the other party can't send you anything.
If you send some coins first, you can receive some back later (except for 1.2% channel reserve). The other party (the node) will do the same to the next node, creating a chain of channels that all move some of their coins to the other party.

Am I supposed to create a channel first?
No, it should work if the nodes are connected already.

If you go to coinplaza you set up that you send them bitcoins on the lightning network and inreturn they send you bitcoins on the main chain.

Connecting to the coinplaza node is a different thing.

I'm slowly working some of this out... while playing with fractions of pennies!  ;D ;D :D

You can repay the 20000 sats here... (it's valid for 24 hrs and the node should have something like 99% uptime ;))

Does that 1ml site work like freenode? Maybe you have to input your ip or your link before you can see yourself on it.

Received...

I have no idea how 1ml works... I even have a channel open with them! But when I search for my node's public key, it doesn't find anything at all ::) I tried creating an account, but that only lets you "claim" nodes that are returned on the search...

It isn't a huge deal really as far as I can tell... it's probably an issue with the underlying "lnd" not being publicly accessible... I've probably missed a setting somewhere (like with Bitcoin Core allowing incoming connections etc) :P

Neither of my two active and one inactive nodes show up on 1ml.com (https://1ml.com/) or um ?Casa? (https://explore.casa/)

Nore do they show up as connecting to any nodes. (Plus I keep getting rejected when I try to open a channel to 1ml)

I have put up a raspiblitz node for testing. Feel free to connect to it and open channels.
It is something I am testing so it might burp and go offline but I backup all channels on a regular basis.

And thanks for posting here, do you have quite a few channels open already (just to check routing can be done fine)? I couldn't seem to find it on the acinq explorer yet either (but that might just be a delay or me being sloppy with the search engine).

Yeah, I have been doing some testing with the raspiblitz (pi3 vs 4 and with the 4 1GB ram vs 4GB ram) so I was opening and closing and playing with channels.
Will probably add more BTC and more channels this week.

What is really nice with the way it's setup you can power it down, pull the USB SSD and plug it into another RPi with raspiblitz on the SD card and all you have to do is put in a new root (admin) password and you are back up and running. All the info is on the USB drive. (Yeah, you don't need an SSD but it's just sooooo much faster)

I did a bunch of testing on testnet but there is nothing like the real thing.

Ordinarily I intend to use Blue LN for outgoing test-payments (and Zap for incoming), so that shouldn't be an issue.  I'd prefer 24 hour requests, or be able to set time-frames - will update when I can.

I thought it was the TX. Blue wallet isn't very clear about a few things.

Yeah I know what it is then... Its a signed preimage from my node to say it's received the funds (essentially a proof to the blockchain that if something goes wrong then the compliment party can take the funds, for example if I went offline after transferring that - and we'd be talking milliseconds for until the HTLC ran out - then the funds can be credited to the person I have a channel open with for my non compliance but you'd then get a refund from them.

Blue Wallet certainly has some mood swings concerning the transaction fees.
It's 0.3-1%. In Eclair, it was up to 3% (but sometimes lower).
Wallet of Satoshi is the only one I've seen that tells me the fee before paying, and it's usually 1 or 2 sats.

Title: Re: Free lightning tests
Post by: jackg on February 01, 2020, 06:41:16 PM
I managed to get a free transaction on eclair so boom!

I'm not entirely sure why either it wss just a 1000 sat payment to tl.

Title: Re: Free lightning tests
Post by: Timelord2o67 on February 01, 2020, 11:25:10 PM
I wanted to try a sort of simultaneous transactions via Blue so I could watch something.

The transactions were for 10,000 days and a 100 TX fee was added however the balance didn't update for a while then the fee changed to 30 and 34 says for the two TX's.

I recently did a 150,000 sat LN transaction via Blue and after a while the transaction fee updated to 430 says.

Would this mean the wallet could become overdrawn if you had just 100 says to cover the fee and said fee went up, not down?

Title: Re: Free lightning tests
Post by: jackg on February 01, 2020, 11:30:31 PM
I think it either wouldn't go through or would find a different route. Negative balances can't be enforced or stored on the LN on a CT since the bitcoin network doesn't support signed integers. (balance is in Satoshi as an unsigned 64bit amount).

It usually takes a while to update the balance in BlueWallet (which is one of the things I don't like about the wallet), but I haven't seen it change the fee after a while. You can report it by email or Telegram (https://bluewallet.io/).
There's also the mystery where my 100000 sat balance turned into 99999 sats, so this might be related.

that should have read 10,000 sats, but my phone just refuses to accept what I wrote is what I meant.  Also as you point out the balance doesn't update and it seems to think the pre transaction balance is still available (IE a double spend situation *might* be able to occur in the minutes/hour until the balance updates).

No I don't deal with testnet. I'd rather risk my funds and learn from my mistakes...

LoyceV or potentially timelord may be able to help there (or daveF). Although it seems loyce might have closed his thread like timelord did - they may still have some testnet funds available though.

Feel free to PM LoyceMobile (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=1903546) a Testnet payment request.

My Eclair testnet wallets seem to be still working ok - head over to my lending thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5184177.0) and send me a request.

(Haven't figured out if Blue wallet takes testnet coins as yet.)

There's also the Lightning Network Lenders' (and borrowers) discussion thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5206115.0) if you run into any trouble.

Thanks! Welcome to my old sig camp too (I was there until sr when I left due to changes and joined bitmixer)....

We have a lot of gambling sites already in the ln. It'd probably be one of the first places where the adoption occurs and its nice because there are less traces on the ln - if you want to be a bit more anonymous with your gambling then it's nice (although 777 and others probably do something similar already to anonymise their addresses).

Gambling sites also seemed faster than exchanges to switch over to native segwit acceptance.

Yeah I'm not great at checking others' quality, although I guess a lot of shit posters just use similar patterns anyway...
Sigs are pretty good if you're going to be here anyway, I've seen a lot of people saying they're a problem, and they did used to be a massive one, but they're also good if taken up by genuine members that can help to bring on more interesting discussions - its also how this forum will actually do better in things like Web rankings since it also stops bct becoming a wasteland of randoms (icq didn't look to be very busy in comparison but I wasn't there for long)...

It wouldn't surprise me if they're waiting for a bit more on the developmental side before offering the lightning network. We're still in the in development phase round here imo... Software will always have bugs but the lightning network hasn't had some more supporting forms to it yet and is still fairly primitive while still functioning with enough security as is needed for now...

Yeah transactions are instant so it came in as you sent it.

Have you got a return invoice or do you not think it'll work?

As soon as the screen goes dark the Eclair goes offline.

This one will/should work it's on the Zap network:

I've tried eclair, electrum and lightning roulette and none of them can find a route (I'm not sure why).

If your node's staying open, I'll open about 20 ;D (I think that's my limit) channels and see if I can get any through.

Edit: I'm resorting to acinq

Have you got a watchtower open or have you managed to leave the phone on if its éclair of any wallet that could still be the priblem.

The solution i found is to open an app like YouTube in dual screen so that your screen stays active (you need a video open and playing/on pause though).

There has been a critical update of lnd afaik too so you light want to update before doing a transaction if using that client.
Do you have a reference for this? I only see 0.11.1beta which was released 9 days ago...

This marks the first minor release in the v0.11.x series! This release contains no breaking changes, and no database migrations. Instead this release bundles a number of reliability improvements, some macaroon upgrades, and a change to make our version our anchor commitments spec compliant amongst several other changes.

Also, can you provide me an invoice... I don't have any spare capacity to receive at the moment... :P

Yeah it came through on my eclair as being received, I then closed the app so it's probably why the second dint come through.

Can you see the funds leaving your wallet? I assume the CT has updated so the balance should be different?.

I'm seeing a payment hash on the transaction of: d1e2656d8663ba131d2bb4a77224cdba215ba436dc2837fef7c58660899f3137 but Id imagine that's the hash of the CT.

Eclair normally recommend: 03864ef025fde8fb587d989186ce6a4a186895ee44a926bfc370e2c366597a3f8f:node.acinq.co:9735 but I don't think the funds came down that route just then...

Apparently it did indeed go through... via OpenNode -> ACINQ -> some random node
https://talkimg.com/images/2023/11/15/zYQL8.png

I had to close Zap and then re-open and I was able to drill down into the transaction details... Zap wallet has some issues... I may need to investigate migrating to a different "front-end" for lnd if there is one, or maybe a different implementation altogether :P

Have you got an invoice for me or do you not have the inbound capacity?
It's quite impressive how few hops it takes though (although that could be due to centralisation). With a lot of nodes I still don't think we can expect many hops (probably a log2(n) or less - with n being the number of nodes on the network). I think the ln is designed to encourage lots of small channels rather than one or two big ones...

The channel to ACINQ finally got opened and I was able to move some sats around... so, hopefully, I should be able to receive some ;)

What are people using for building up channel capacity? Do you just send yourself sats from one wallet to another... or do you use "Loop In/Out" etc? ???

A couple of lightning gambling sites let you cash out to main chain amounts over 0.001-0.01, sometimes betting 2k sats on those or higher fulfills your moral conscience in asking for a withdrawal - especially if you have my luck 🤣.

I used to use CoinPlaza.it to transfer from LN to on-chain, but (on-chain) fees aren't really worth it anymore for small amounts. An alternative is to convert it to Dogecoin, the minimum is 0.24 mBTC for 1000 Doge.
Another alternative is Phoenix Wallet (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5250677.0): it opens a channel on it's own, and gives you incoming capacity.

Tricky question.

Like Loyce I *was* using coinplaza, but their TX fees shot up, so I haven't done much lately.  That being said, the Blue wallet you can have (seemingly) unlimited inbound and outbound capacity for LN transactions, so I could possibly empty my funds from my Eclair Wallet, send the lot to Blue and then send it back as an on-chain TX to Eclair and open one super large channel in much the same way I did with the channels I currently have on Eclair.

I haven't tried Phoenix, so I might try that one as well.

I'm going to bump this now but I'll open a few channels with electrum and test how that works as well as my standard éclair.

Should be available for 10 hours...

Please note, this request is for 0.0025, not $25.

If you prefer I send first, that's ok too.

I'll be on for the next hour to ensure I repay.

Thanks.[/s]

Withdrawn.  Thanks all the same.

Ywah I think you were right about not being able to root as much, are the nodes you're connected to quite well connected on the node explorer or have you been trying to connect to random nodes? In the other thread there was a graph of the best connected "top layer" nodes.

I'll have to check who/where I'm connected to on my Eclair wallet (am pretty sure ACINQ is the one with the 0.025 channel) none of my wallets have ever shown up on 1ml.com which I put down to an ever changing I.P. through my ISP.

I'm opening a channel with acinq, I'll be back in (exactly) half an hour to do the transfer in case you're having to leave éclair open or something.

Hey thanks, am still here.  (and yes, my mobile phone just doesn't like keeping anything running once the screen goes blank).  :-\

I got a confirmation, it's paid!

Return invoice:
Code:
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

I'm using electrum on my computer so I assume it has normal power managment - so there's not too much of a rush...

I might potentially have a capaicty issue though.

Payment received - I've been attempting to send back to you - both Blue and Eclair don't seem to work, but that I mean blue comes up with the error message:

Quote
Alert:

API error: Payment failed. Does the receiver have enough inbound capacity? ( code 10 )

That's pretty much the same error I get when I try to shift the funds.

I dialed the payment down in steps from 250,000 to 90,000 but keep getting that same error.

On Eclair, if I change the payment amount, I get an error the hash is incorrect while the actual payment request gives "ten attempts" and no channels open to the recipient.

I'll keep trying.  Worst comes to the worst will you accept an on-chain repayment?

DONE! sent via Eclair (am back to where I started from)  :-\

I think i've received them? Electrum has an inbuilt function to add capacity and that seemed to work...

I might have to look into that wallet (if it has a PC or Android wallet)  -  I'm still unsure how to recover the funds lost in the Zap wallet. (but that's a horror story for another night)

Not sure what the bback-end for Blue Wallet is - no open channels, but it accepted all that I sent its way (getting them back is proving problematic)

Back for 4 hours if anyone wanted to give the lightning network a try. I'll be here again in a few days too...
