Cryptocurrency markets continue to stagger but there has been much talk in recent weeks and months of an alt season. But is this really going to happen?

you just saw these "talks" recently, they have been going on for as long as i can remember! meaning from 2014 until today they are always saying the "altcoin season" is coming soon. sometimes they get lucky and are correct like 2017 but the rest of the times (that is 95% of the times) they are not and it is altcoin dumping season ;)

yes it will come, but not for now maybe next year. we can only hope that the altcoin season can come sooner. From all the talk about the alt season, I see all say the season will come when bitcoin starts pumping. and the pump will start before halving. so hopefully that happens.

Nobody know alt season will happen or not, but everyone in crypto waiting for alt season after a long bear market. I hope the year of 2020 crypto will be better than this year.

Careful, you might wait for eternity and still altcoins season won't appear, why bother? find other means to get good income everyday so if altcoin season do come its fine and if it doesn't too its still not bad since you have other things that is fetching you money

Altcoin season is the most talked in crypto space now since the big bullrun of 2017 and many people are still keeping their coins in wallet hoping that altcoin season will return, its not impossible though but i doubt it will happen any soon.. Its just really a shame how any new projects are failing, if not it would have been a different thing for altcoin

I just waited for his arrival this year. the market has entered the end of the year and if the movement has started it is not impossible that the beginning of the year altcoin season really will run for all the assets of altcoin.

It is very difficult to predict when the altcoin season will come. I have no doubt that this will happen, we can only believe and wait. Many people have lost faith in the altcoin season, but I continue to believe.

The altcoin season will come soon after this bloody drama end. But unfortunately, we don't know when the drama will end. We could only watch the price change every day and still hope that tomorrow the bull run will come. And now, we have been forced by looking the altcoin has got down deeper following bitcoin price which still going down again. But I am sure that we will see the cryptocurrency will rise again in the future and this is just a test for the cryptocurrency.

There are 2 possible scenarios.
Bitcoin will dump and altcoins will folow Bitcoin, this happens regularly.
Bitcoin will dump and altcoins break away and start grow, I would like to see this scenario because it is time to sell altcoins and get more Bitcoins.  :)

This is not new, if you will go over the forum this talks been too long, even before 2017.
I am sure alt season will come again, but i am not seeing it soon or this year.
Maybe if IEO will become better and then we can see it on 2020.

Nobody knows when Altseason is going to happen. By the current looks of the market it's likely not going to happen anytime soon. BTC is sucking life out of altcoins.

Not only altcoins but Bitcoin is also bleeding these days. It reached $13k in last few days from $3500 so we had some hope but now again it slipped to below $8K. Bitcoin may touch more lows in coming days. Strong altcoins like BNB, BCH are also bleeding, there is no inflow of money in the market, projects are getting delayed. Overall current situation does not seem favorable but we still have hope, crypto market will recover if not soon then later but it will recover.

all will certainly receive the impact of the decline that occurred. but when bitcoin adoption and demand increases we must be prepared to see market movements begin. gradually I think this market will start to improve again.

I don't know much altcoin. How the market is going on right now? What are the chances of getting profits? I have some BTC. As far as I know the market is up for BTC now. What's your thought?

Seem like bitcoin is trampling hard on altcoins which still is disappointing to me, i thought the last bitcoin dominance is the beginning of altcoin ride since ethereum sees a bit growth from it but i was wrong all along, lets be all patience for now and hope things change for the better

Hope and patience are both needed since we are suffering from the downfall. And you are correct, it's not only alts but also bitcoin itself is bleeding. Better not to focus with short term or prepare yourself to hold when your target is not being met. Keep your assets inside your wallet instead of trying to
shorting the market. Alts are not performing, might be not its season yet but the day will come that it will show a good run and bounce back to bring exciting benefits.

Not now. Maybe it will take more time for Altcoin to bullish. Because if we look at the previous day, we can see that altcoin was bullish at the end of 2017 and when the bitcoin's dominance was below 40%. And Altcoin's dominance was above 60%. But now we are seeing the picture is completely opposite of 2017.

The alt season will surely happen but no one can predict when, we just have to wait and find out.

I do not know when it will come. But I'm here and waiting for over 2 years but the altcoin season hasn't come yet. It may take the next 2-3 years

Have you seen the last big dumps especially on btc and ethereum tokens? It was a huge dump, really huge. This might be a manipulation, i don't know whether these are true or just fake investors manipulating the whole crypto ecosystem to gather more profits and more coins/tokens in general. At this moment, Altcoins are dying.

It seems to me that the next 2 months will be indicative of a pump or dump! But for myself, I decided, while we are at the bottom of the adjustment, there is an opportunity to buy some altos, as I did, hoping that soon we will have a good profit!

I don't know bro, but if we look at altcoin price movements in the last few months, altcoin has lost its value. there is no significant price movement at all but we all expect the best for the market,only time can answer this.

Altcoins season will be happen anytime soon, but for me honestly, today is altcoins season because most of the potentials coins that are potential  in the market were most of them are dumped all their price such as Eth, Xem, Xbx, Kcs, Bnb, trx, Neo, Waves and Eos all of it are now in very low price value in the market, believe me once bull run comes these all will kick their price in the market for sure.

According to analysts, the so-called altcoin season will come in early spring 2020. But in my (incompetent) opinion, one should not expect the same heights as in January 2018.

Yep, some experts stated about the upcoming altcoin season probably happens at the beginning of 2020. This has a correlation with the halving of Bitcoin in May 2020. However, there is no guarantee it will happen as the expectation. It is still a prediction, so we are also hard to know about the maximum rising on altcoins.

Crypto markets are in the depression mode and traders can't trade the positions which they don't see as an opportunity in the recession mood from my experience. The alt season can start with two different stages, the first one is obvious for all crypto traders: Low BTC dominance means further price increasement windows for the altcoins. For achieving the lower Bitcoin dominance, the investors should be convinced with the appropriate ways which lead to the investment in the altcoins. The second way is to bring additional money from the other financial markets but this option is not going to happen unless the next economic crisis in the global financial markets.

Me too, 2018 and 2019 are a bad time for altcoin holders. Hopefully by 2020 the market will grow and altcoins will increase in price.

The stable coins have one purpose they exist in the crypto ecosystem: Hedging the crpyo trading positions. The reason why altcoin decline to raise is not stable coins, there are tons of reasons why altcoins are in the bloodbath nowadays. Alt season will take months for preparation and this preparation period solely depends on the Bitcoin dominance. For understanding the question, let's assume that there are no stable cryptocurrencies tomorrow. Will this assumption change the downtrend on the altcoin markets? The answer is NO, no shortage is required in the long term visions.

After the halving of btc, altcoins market will definetely show some few percent jumps on so many tokens. But i honestly don't think that we will live an era like on 2017,

I don't think this will happen soon. Investors and developers are losing faith in Altcoin, they move their money and hold BTC, BTC Dominance: 67.7% has said that altcoin has a very small value. I am not expecting high From Altcoin Market. I only consider ETH to progress, rest of the altcoins are valueless for me. I think one of the reason why Altcoin Isn't progressing because of bitcoin. We can't really say due to the market's volatility but I feel like once BTC goes bullish, other alts will still follow. I'm not seeing ETH or any other alts separating from BTC in years to come, though ETH did a crazy jump like a month ago while BTC did nothing.

Some speculation groups that I followed said that it began to appear, bitcoin dominance began to decline, altcoin trends are also slowly rising though not significant and only applies to potential strong altcoins, the rest is very difficult to move.

I think we don't have to wait for bitcoin dominance to decrease to see the altcoin season comes. As long as altcoin has the power to increase, it will grow no matter bitcoin still dominance. I think we are going to see an increase in the altcoin if the situations can be like now and I hope that if altcoin price can increase higher, bitcoin will stay at a price now. So we can make a profit in bitcoin first then we could wait for bitcoin price to grow so we can make another profit in fiat.

We will see altcoins moon at some point, however it's gonna be like 2017 where every body was making money. The only few atlcoins will mange to increase in value like Ethereum, the others will stay in dead zone if not going to zero. Last two year always become for altcoin season to growing up, its my opinion only and you can recheck by your information self, how ever last two year on October altcoin keep for higher price.

Yes, the alt season will come when the bitcoin dominance will decrease but at the same time we do not want the overall market cap to decrease too. If the marketcap of crypto remain stable only then the money will flow from bitcoins to the altcoins. However if the marketcap also decrease with the bitcoin price decrease, then the alts will dump too.

alts season will definitely happen but it takes time.  I think the alts will come when many speculators no longer believe in bitcoin's growth.  then the majority will sell bitcoins to buy back altcoins and from there the alts will be born.  But to benefit from this, you should be patient for a few more months.  Perhaps as Q2 of 2020 will be the alts boom.

Couple of days ago we have seen significant move in a day but again with the correction of BTC price, each the coin has lost a huge value. I think we are very far from a altcoin bull run, may be later this year we can see that.

There is no guarantee that by the end of 2019 it will bring altcoin back to the moon.  But at least I'd rather wait for 2020 where many people expect more.  At present the price of bitcoin is $ 8000 and continues to fluctuate.  Fundamental factors will be able to make bitcoin rise again above $ 10K - $ 20K.

This question have been asked for a couple of times since then. The question that I am referring to , is in general. Many people are making assumptions and predictions of what could tomorrow bring for either of any cryptos (alts and btc) but the thing here is that, assurance is still a problem. The market itself is very volatile making any calculations, invalid. Altcoins sre really giving a hind. The scenario is here: cryptos uncluding btc and any alts are showing positive signs at this moment which encourage many people to invest and give it a try. If I have learnt anything in cryptosphere, it is the fact that impossible is nothing. I believe that there is definitely a season for altcoins, and that time is soon. There is no guarantee for improvements that occur due to halving. the reduction of half the inventory that has occurred on Litecoin also does not work well especially in market conditions like now. Altcoins is there ever since even people holds bitcoin, some use altcoins for trading. I don't think it can outraged Bitcoin but more now might use alts for trading since their holding there BTC for next pump. However, it will sure depends on what alt will have it season, not all alts can make it if ever there will have a big adoption for alt to make it their season.

I think it will happen someday, if the cryptocurrency hype is crowded like in 2017. Best catalyst would be blocks getting full and fees rising on BTC network again. last time altcoins had any sort of season, bitcoin went from $20,000 to $8,000, we are at $8,200 right now with no sign of dominance dropping. you also need to consider the catalyst of dominance dropping, not the price or movement of bitcoin. dominance dropped and people moved into altcoins as BTC was massively over valued and whales knew it. bitcoin isn't massively over valued at $8.200 yet, not even close. dominance has no reason to reduce yet, so the real question is, will Altcoins survive?

Altcoins are still stuck in the bear market, for nearly 2 years, all of them are far from their ATH, and many altcoin holders left this game because of their losses. Altseason will come, but for me it'll for new altcoins, not for the old.

I agree with you . Old altcoins are now no longer worth investing in because the market is purifying all altcoins and underdeveloped coins will soon disappear in the near future. Those trash coins their season will definitely don't come because maybe they are really abandoned by their developers or they just make to scam people.

We cannot tell that would happen, if the old altcoins will struggle for sure it will affect the entire market as old altcoins in overall holds the big trading volume. Yes, there's a big difference now compared to its ATH.

We can look at the top 3 major coins and compare.

ETH, XRP, and BCH, all are very cheap now compared to their ATH.

Personally, I don't believe that alt season can happen this year, I'm waiting for it next year, about spring.

Nothing is impossible so I think it will happen, if not now then probably in the next few years or so who knows. Please remember that when bitcoin started a lot have doubts of it will really become successful or what not, some even think it'll be gone sooner or later but look at bitcoin now, it has been known as the king of crypto now. Therefore, alt can also be like bitcoin, maybe in the future altcoins will also boom like bitcoin let's just wait and have faith that the alt season will truly come.

The talk about upcoming altseason is the reason there's gonna be an alt season, it's like a self-fulfilling prophecy, all it needs is someone to jump in and the rest will follow, with the state of the market everyone is thirsty for some profit, the demand is there, it's just that everyone is afraid to lose.

Some altcoins have already gone up in valuin the last couple of few weeks. LINK, MATIC, ONE, PHB,  NKN have all rallied. LINK alome has done over from 16-17k to a high of 36k sats. Even NKN did 100%+ on their binance listing upon winning the community vote. Just about a week ago, Majority of alts, Majors and Minors had a minor run. I think all these are signs of altcoin season approaching. That's why I'm looking to get back to trading again. These are beginning to feel like 2017 Christmas season :)

I think it is still too early to talk about this because the current market is still in a downtrend and the coins you have listed only temporarily increase prices for a short time. In my opinion, altcoins cannot recover well this year because the current investment demand is too little and Bitcoin is still overwhelming altcoin. No, I haven't seen that. altcoin is still down and hasn't given a signal for the pump. but some old altcoins have broken the falling patterns. and form new patterns, like making small jumps. for example EXP, DGB, XZC. ETH. they already did it. and just need to wait for another altcoin to do that so that the altcoin session is visible.

Of course, altcoins will return to the uptrend someday but first of all we will have to wait for the bear market to end because during the past 2 years there have been many investors losing a huge amount of money in the market . I don't care about the value of altcoin, but if you've made a good profit then consider selling as soon as possible because altcoin is now very risky. I personally advise a lot of traders to stay away from trading during this period as the market can easily collapse anytime if the whales tend to sell.

Alt would definitely not capped new ATH again this year, even for this year, chart saw us it will rise at the beginning of april next year.

It’s too much difficult to predict in exactly when crypto market will be moon. But this year alts condition aren’t bad likes if you will compare with since 2018. But that's true in the last previous years crypto-currency market suffering long volatility. But a lot of crypto enthusiasts predict the market will be next bull run in the middle of 2020 when BTC will reach 10k$-12k$. So, you will hope that alts coin season coming in the next a couple of months. Most of alts holder suffering the big losses from a lot of months this is very disappointed thing.                  

I don't know but the btc dominance is obviously falling, it means the market cap of btc is decreasing while the market cap of the altcoins is increasing. So it could be the beginning of an alt season soon...

Nothing is so significant with that drop, dominance rate is still high at 66% now, I would only agree that a bull run might come soon if it will drop below 50% as that would help the altcoins market to grow. At this rate, I don't think it's already a good sign because altcoins has not shown its independent move that they can beat BTC.

and we certainly know that altcoin is following the BTC, if BTC has entered a bullish trend of course altcoin will follow it, it's just a matter of time when the dominant BTC drops to 50% and the altcoin season will come.

   Most of us in crypto-community believes that Bitcoin is the force that will push entire crypto-market to the roof. We can`t expect
anything to happen with alt-coins before Bitcoins start`s it. And that will happen in a few years, as you say Genemind it will take some
time, but it will happen.
   I will add something that is repeated many times here on forum, not all the alt-coins will rise with Bitcoin, some of them will stay where
they are forever or even drop more. From all alt-coins we will be lucky to see 10% of them to make new ATH together with Bitcoin.

yes I agree with you, the altcoin season will start when bitcoin has moved. without bitcoin, there is no altcoin season. bitcoin is one of the biggest reasons why many people invest in crypto. so wait until bitcoin starts to run, then we will see a new ATH for altcoin.
