More news on this post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5195845.msg53157346#msg53157346).

Hello everyone !

For the upcoming 10th anniversary of Bitcointalk, we imagined something special to commemorate this event.

Artists are solicited a lot lately with the ongoing art contest (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193860.0).
Coldkey is a new brand, we do not have much BTC or Merits to offer, but still, let's make a cool physical item that will be widely accessible;
so everybody can hold onto a memorabilia of when Bitcointalk entered it's 10th year of existence. :)

It will be a fully functional, not loaded, secure physical cold storage wallet, with the design of the winner.
We will be offering it at a competitive price to make it possible for everyone here to hold their own 10th years of Bitcointalk collectible item.
(Unfortunately, to lower our retail prices we need to pass on the UV for this release)
Made on Bitcointalk.org, by Bitcointalk.org users, for Bitcointalk.org. :)

This special Coldkey will be available for purchase during one month (from 22nd of November until 22nd of December) without limits in quantities.
Of course, they will be serialized and embossed; we will keep the first & lowest 10 serials for a further auction.
100% of this auction proceedings will go to Charities. *

What is it all about ?

If you don't know about it, let me quickly present Coldkey to you : it is a secure physical cold storage wallet in the form of a card.
We have announced the project (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5130905.0) in the Collectibles section back in April, since then we have released three different series.

(Our latest collaborative (with 1Dq (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2000200)) release, the History Coldkey)

You can find more informations about our cold storage wallets on our website : https://www.coldkey.eu ;
or on the different ANN threads we made for each serie :
(Genesis Edition (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5132621.0), Bitcoin Coldkeys (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5178951.0) and History Coldkeys (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193561.0))

https://i.imgur.com/AmR7IP8.png?1

What about the contest then ?

Right !

We think it would be awesome to create a Bitcointalk.org anniversary commemorative item with a design that comes directly from our community.
This is the reason for this contest. Let's make a Bitcointalk.org item together !

At the end of the contest, a poll will be organized to pick the winning design. (16th to 21th of November)
The winner gets the main prize and contestants making it to 2nd and 3rd place will be rewarded as well.

Contest rules :
- Make a design for a Coldkey that reminds you of Bitcointalk.org.
- It must be your original artwork.
- An entry is a front and a back. Please submit both.
- Dimensions are 54x86mm.
- Any design with some NSFW element will be automatically disregarded.
- You can submit multiple artworks, but please keep them all within ONE single post.
- Due to various reasons, we reserve the right to pick the submissions that will make it to the poll.
- We reserve the right to disqualify any user from the contest, at our sole discretion.

You can project the space for some elements on the design (like the QR codes), but if you don't we will always find a way to fit everything on the Coldkey.
(Do not focus too much on positioning the elements; however a 22x22mm space will be used on the back by our hologram.)

Please submit your designs on this thread.

Deadline : 15th November 2019 11:59pm Paris time.
(Countdown timer : https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20191115T235959&p0=195&font=cursive)

Prize list :

1st Prize : 4x 0.005BTC Bitcoin Loaded Coldkey + 4x 0.001BTC Bitcoin Loaded Coldkey +
 4x Bitcointalk.org 10th anniversary Coldkey + 1x Genesis Edition Coldkey

2nd Prize : 2x 0.005BTC Bitcoin Loaded Coldkey + 2x 0.001BTC Bitcoin Loaded Coldkey + 2x Bitcointalk.org 10th anniversary Coldkey

3rd Prize : 1x 0.005BTC Bitcoin Loaded Coldkey +  1x 0.001BTC Bitcoin Loaded Coldkey + 1x Bitcointalk.org 10th anniversary Coldkey

(Funding for prizes is provided and is part of the prize)

Thank you very much for reading and considering to take part in our contest.
We are equally impatient and curious to see your art pieces, and very excited at the idea of making a Bitcointalk.org item. :)

(Please keep this thread clean, it is only for the purpose of the contest. If you want to, comment the project on our ANN thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5130905.0))

* : maybe split between several ones. Thinking of the Bitcointalk Charity Program (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5124375.0), Free Ross, Save the Bees, Sean's Outpost.

So you're looking for art pieces which can be used as possible designs? Would a canvas painting that you could then translate into a design be an acceptable entry? Just asking as I've got a spare canvas and a lot of acrylic paint and might give this a shot very soon :)

May I also suggest that you restrict people to a single post. I don't know if you are going to permit multiple entries or not, but regardless of whether people submit 1 or 5, to reduce spam IMO it should be kept to 1 post - that's a problem the 10th anniversary contest thread has right now.

———

I would also suggest you make the poll part of your judgement but reserve your right to be subjective. Polls are easily gamed by alts.

Perhaps a ‘poll’ in Ivory Tower where votes are done by posting, as you need to be a Member to post there, might be a better idea, but I still suggest the above as that is still easily gameable.

Thanks a lot DiamondCardz for bringing all these points.

So you're looking for art pieces which can be used as possible designs? Would a canvas painting that you could then translate into a design be an acceptable entry? Just asking as I've got a spare canvas and a lot of acrylic paint and might give this a shot very soon :)

Absolutely. :)
As long as it is your original artwork, it's all good. (We'll verify that before starting the poll)
For example, the History Coldkey pictured in OP is a canvas made by 1Dq; it's a picture of the canvases, adjusted to fit our needs.

The tech in our hardware allows us to create beautiful cards, so let's make use of it. :)

Good idea. Thanks for your suggestion.
We do not want to limit creativity, however I agree that this thread shouldn't become a spam thread.
Please keep all your submissions within one single post. Abuse will lead to the disqualification of the participant.

That being said, this thread is fine to discuss the contest.
However, do not spam it with artworks. Please keep them all in one post, I will regularly update the 2nd post of this thread with the most notable entries.

Nice one.
I like this contests, and I think theymos started this contest avalanche with his 10th anniversary bitcointalk post ;)

Question for @yogg:
Should we post our designs preview only here in this Topic?

Just a question in regards to the prize lists, those coldkeys are cards right, meaning they are tangible and not to be rude if the winners are on the abroad residing meaning they'll pay for the rewards need to be shipped or is it included to be free as well?

Thanks!

Thanks dkbit98 :)
What's to expect from Bitcointalk for it's 10th anniversary other than some frenzy. ;D

Yes, please post your designs for this contest in this thread, in a single post.
You can submit several designs, but please keep all submissions to one post.

Most notable designs will be chosen for the poll. (Subjectively but I will take the community appreciation and the overall users opinions into account)
That poll will be probably conducted in the Ivory Tower section.

Thanks for your question. :)

Yes, it is a physical prize and of course, winners won't have to pay for anything.
I didn't specify it but absolutely, tracked shipping is on us.
However you need to be able to receive a parcel.

I can't believe I'm the first one posting here :)
Please find attached my proposals.
This is how I see the future cards. Very colorful... in the front I thought that something with great impact such as family and life itself would join very well with Bitcoin, since I truly believe in its power and value.
On the back, I thought about two big events from Bitcoin history. So people can never forget them!

Edit: I came back with a second proposal! I hope this one is more suitable :)

Thanks a lot GazetaBitcoin and terizla for your submissions ! :)

There is still a lot of time left to participate ! The contest ends in ~2 weeks.
To participate, please make an artwork that reminds you of Bitcointalk, to celebrate the 10 years of Bitcointalk, with dimensions of 86x54mm.

We're are looking for more participants, as there is more prizes to win than the number of submissions so far. ;D

If you have a question, do not hesitate to ask. :)

PS : Prizes can be in a digital form (BTC) instead of a physical prize being sent to you, at the convenience of the winners.

I have one question regarding this, you of course want designs to be original, but would you mind someone reposting a particular design created by them i.e I use the same entry for theymos 10th anniversary contest and for this one, or the design much be a hundred percent unique?

I wonder the same, but for the authenticity of the entry and to be original for Coldkey I will make a new one today/tomorrow.
P.S. I found out about this contest only today, so I think you should bump the thread daily for more visibility @yogg

Hey Upgrade00 and Laskoo,

Thanks a lot for your questions.

Yes, it is okay to do so.
Since the artwork has been made especially for this particular event (10th anniversary of Bitcointalk) and IF it is your original submission to theymos' 10th anniversary contest (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193860.0) then it is allright to use.

Simply adapt it/modify it to fit the requirements. :)

Allright, I will bump it more often so it has more visibility. Thanks for your feedback.

I will make a few trial prints with some content that was presented on this thread and on theymos' 10th anniversary contest (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193860.0).
Participants will be able to vizualize what to come up with and what we can do.

For example, please do not place a denomination on the card, neither the address or the QR code.
We will not be able to use your material if you merge these elements into your submission, since we will put a different pair of keys for each Coldkey.

Thank you to all participants for your submissions ! :)
There is a little bit than 10 days left to submit your design.

Bump for more visibility. :)
A little more than a week remaining to submit your designs.

I have created cards with two designs that were submitted in this contest so you can see what to expect. :)

And .. just for fun .. ;D
After checking with Basorexia, I have made cards with designs with his submissions in theymos' 10 years art contest (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193860.msg52977879#msg52977879)

I think they render in a cool manner :D The dimensions were not fitting but this can always be fixed. :)
(higher def so we can appreciate all the details in the original artworks)

https://i.imgur.com/eObVCN8.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/2f57Bun.png

If your submission is appealing, I will most likely print it to see how it renders so users can make a better opinion for themselves during the poll.

Great job, dude.

And I don't want to be a critic here since I'm not contributing any designs of my own, but most of the ones I've seen don't really have any visible symbols or words on the design that would make it obvious that these are to commemorate bitcointalk.  Shouldn't that be a key element of the design?

By the way, something like this would be absolutely perfect in place of a set of trading cards with the top members on them.  I really like Debonaire217's designs with Mitchell and the rest on them.  Those really have the bitcointalk flavor to them.

I've made a simple yet on point card design for the event.
I was thinking of a silver-gradient card. As you can see I've used this in combination with the bitcoin/bitcointalk colors which in my opinion looks great.
In addition, this will give you plenty of room to place the unique elements like your logo and name, QR code, hologram, etc.

Thank you @yogg for making this contest. It's great way to celebrate 10th birthday of Bitcointalk.
I see that there is already some nice designs made by participants. But I won't participate in it because I don't have any good ideas how it should look and no knowledge how to make it.
So, I just wish good look to all participants and let the best one win!

Sounds terrific, but I am not yet sure what to do. He created designs for much more top members.

Your card is looking awesome, the colors fits perfect and the details are amazing. The only thing you must add is something related to bitcointalk.org and/or 10th anniversary, because as it is reminds of bitcoin.

See the first rule:
Contest rules :
- Make a design for a Coldkey that reminds you of Bitcointalk.org.

Putting elements of design that reminds of the forum isn't simple, since the visual identity of the forum is... quite... basic.

Making a few coldkeys with Basorexia's desins might be very funny :D At least we can't say that they don't remind us of Bitcointalk!
Do you know where you would put the address / amount of BTC / etc. and what would be the back of the card like?

IMO Debonaire217's design could be a good starting point, even though I could maybe be improved (something a little bit more punchy?).

hope you like it!

-snip-

Your card is looking awesome, the colors fits perfect and the details are amazing. The only thing you must add is something related to bitcointalk.org and/or 10th anniversary, because as it is reminds of bitcoin.

See the first rule:
Contest rules :
- Make a design for a Coldkey that reminds you of Bitcointalk.org.
I just updated it! Thankyou btw.  :)

Hello everyone,

Thanks a lot to participants for your submissions ! :)
Keep them coming, this is getting better and better.
Still a few days left to participate !

I'll make a few cards today with some of the designs that have been uploaded here, like I did a few days ago.
We'll see better how it renders.

Please, avoid to put a BTC address, and no BTC amount as well. It's difficult to make a functional wallet out of these.
We can always put our QR code on top of the one on the card, however it is not that easy to mask the address/denomination.

Thanks :)

Note: I am just using my android phone whenever I use the forum,
that's why I really like using the android logo on my design although it doesn't put much sense on the forum itself.

Images and Text Can Be Still Edited also with it's face colors.

My Entry for this contest.

I put a customized address to commemorate this 10 years mark of this forum and bitcoin.
I just made a simple design at front, and a futuristic theme at the back.

You can put anything at the back since there's still a big space.
I'm not sure with the size of this but when I edit the picture on my applications, its 86x54mm.
Well, thank you for this contest and its good to have a physical card for this 10th Anniversary. :D

Not sure what the problem is but the images shows as invalid and hence have added the imgur link as well.
No issue when adding image in the Bitcointalk art contest thread.
I had same issue, but I solved it this way: the "normal" imgur link looks like this - "https://imgur.com/a/somecharacters"; but, if you right click on the image and select "Copy image location", then if you paste it in a new tab, you'll receive a link in this form: "i.imgur.com/somecharacters".
If you write this link here, in this form (with the "i.imgur" part), it will work. It worked for me :)
Maybe you did this on the other contest and you didn't realize.

Also, thank you DdmrDdmr for the merit. As far as I saw, merits are rarely awarded to replies, thus it was a big surprise for receiving it!

You deserve a merit there. It was of real help with real solution. It will not only help me but many as well. I have see few threads in Bitcointalk with the issue but none of them provided a solution for me, but yours did. I'm out of merits otherwise would have given you instantly.

Thanks :)
Hello  :) I can provide my options without an address, a QR code and a amount of BTC, if it will be necessary.

It seems that people/participants don't read the thread posts or simply they don't like to comply when someone is asking them to do something, since I don't find an explanation why to work extra to put a bitcoin address and a QR code when @yogg asked you not to do so.
P.S. Sorry for the off-topic.

I posted a new proposal, by updating my first post (Initial post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5195845.msg52903707#msg52903707)).
Is it ok like this, or should I make a new entry?

I feel more rules need to be added mainly on voting in the poll, how many designs from a single user may be shortlisted, etc. As of now there are very less designs and just 2 days left for the entry deadline. What if the number of quality entries remain less? Will the deadline date be extended in such a case or designs will still be shortlisted from the current entries even if there are no more entries from now? To make this question a bit more clear, minimum how many entries will be shortlisted for the poll? Will contest participants be allowed to vote in the poll?

Thanks a lot to everyone who submitted an entry !! :)
We love all the creativity that comes out of this contest. This is amazing !!

Given the number of entries I prefer not to make too many card.
However for the designs that will make it to the poll, there is going to be a picture of a functional wallet with that design.

Users will vote for their favourite one.

A little more than 2 days left !

Hey GazetaBitcoin !
Yes, thanks ;D

This is great and that's the right way to go. :)

Thanks for your questions. Let me reply to you :
1) We will conduct the contest as planed.
2) The deadline will most likely not be extended.
3) I don't know, applicants can still submit entries so I cannot reply; as described in the OP which design makes it to the poll is subjective to our appreciation.
There are 3 prizes to win, so there will be many more than 3 different contestant in the poll, that's for sure.

4) Of course, if their rank allows them to. The poll will be held in "Ivory Tower" to prevent any form of abuse.

If I understand correctly, all entries that are shortlisted for the poll will be printed and will be for sale even if those entries do not end up in the top three. If that is so, that itself is a win for designers and finishing in the top three is the jackpot.

Edit: Would you be doing test prints on entries that you've merited like the earlier 2 designs before the deadline? Just eager to see how my design would look on the cards.

Hey there yogg, thank you for this awesome contest. Below is my entry for this contest.

Name: Bitcoin Network Forum
The story behind it: Centralized by the topic bitcoin, different mediums, networks, and people are connected and open to sharing about their knowledge on a platform forum.

There could be possible tier levels that's why I prepared it in different colors.

Colors could indicate different things:
  • Amount in the Coldkey
  • The purpose of it (a gift, HODL it, etc)
  • Introduce perks
  • Beginners to Veterans
  • and many more possibilities

Check it out.

Hey Basorexia,

Thanks for your question.
Well, this was implied in the OP so I guess this is on me. (I made that more explicit later on)
Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, this is a problem as we will create cold storage wallets commemorating the anniversary.
Each Coldkey wallet comes with it's own and unique pair of cryptographic keys.

In the eventuality such a design won, I will need to ask the winner for an appropriate version for our use.

Hello yogg, I have a question: how will be selected the posts for the shortlist? I understood that the winners of the shortlist will be elected through a poll.
But what is the criterion for a post to reach the shortlist?

Hello GazetaBitcoin, thanks for your question.

Well, one of the criteria is that the entry has to match the rules of the contest.

Tomorrow, the Coldkey team will review every entry in the contest and we will select the ones that appeal the most to us.
We will start the poll shortly afterwards. :)

Oh I see. I thought there would be another poll, where the posts respecting the rules would receive votes for being elected to the shortlist.
Thx for the answer!

The time gap between the contest deadline and start of the poll will look like a real long wait for all the participants with greater anticipation. I can't wait to see the short listed entries.

So far are about 45 posts (not sure if all fit the rules). How short will be the shorlist?

This is our entry for the contest.  ;D

The detail is quite extreme, see if you can find the various hidden elements and security features we added.

The obverse features an early post from Satoshi (2009) explaining the bitcoin maturation process. The design is meant to convey a fast developing technological world that is well connected. The forum in its current sate is shown on the right.

The reverse, on the other hand, attempts to convey the message of a truly global user base all connected over time.

The best option, in my humble opinion.
You at least deserve a prize for making the most amount of options.
And the theme with the bee madly loved me. #savethebees
Thank. I am very pleased that you appreciate my work. But I objectively understand that there are works more interesting and worthy than mine.
I will be very happy if I win a one of prizes, but I will not be upset if this does not happen, as the creation of all kinds of designs brings me pleasure, and in any case, I will continue to do this.

The submission period is now over.

Thanks a lot to every participant for all your entries !
There has been a lot of creativity and energy put into making those designs ! :)

Tomorrow, we will select the entries that will be in the poll.
Voting will probably start somewhere during Sunday.

This leaves enough time to get a grasp of what design the active community of Bitcointalk likes most. :)

Stay tuned, I will regularly update this thread with news so participants are informed of how the contest unfolds.

Forgot to mention this to you earlier ..but I would love to see a replica (& stated as such) BitBill, as to pay homage to the very first wallet. Obviously too late for the contest though it would make for a cool 10yr card imo, but would also make for a sweet limited release wink  ;)

Congrats to all the contestants!

I voted, but I must say that the choice is really hard ha ha !

Little question, how much will each model be sold ?

Because suddenly, if it is possible I would take the version of "plvbob0070" ( According to its price ), in addition to the model that I reserved ^^

Thank you in advance !

Hey lulucrypto !

This release will be sold below 15€ per piece to make it widely available for everyone. :)
I don't think we will produce every model that is listed in the poll.

Also, will the packaging be the same as the loaded Coldkeys (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5178951.msg52623231#msg52623231)?

Edit : And what about UVs (https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FHWuEYSD.png%3F1&t=607&c=_TQNkhUGkqpnCQ)?

Hey F2b,

"Local pickup" is an option available for people ordering from France.
If you chose this option, we are open to schedule a meeting in the Paris area to hand your order to you. :)
Why not go grab a coffee somewhere ?

Yes, the packaging will be the same.
It is difficult for now to vary the packaging accordingly to releases. (except when planned a long time ahead like the Genesis Edition)

No, there is no UV on these Coldkeys.
This is one of the reasons as to why we can offer such a low price here.
We chose to make this release easily accessible to everyone, at the cost of some extra security that is provided by UV.
However, the AuthKey are implemented on this release and function as intended. :)

Okay, it's more or less what I was expecting.
I'm quite far from Paris, but for people living there it's a great option.
Regarding UV and price, I think you made the right choice :) (I'll certainly end up buying one :P)
