Post something worth of interest for others, and you will get merit points.
As simple as this.

First, learn where to post properly. This doesn't belong in Altcoin discussion board.

Second, read the following topics:

Merit & new rank requirements: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0

I'll request your topic to be moved to the Beginners section.

First, you should KNOW where to post a topic. This topic should be at Beginners and Help section --> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0.

Second, know that there are a lot of topic that has been created with the same essence. It's a wise decision to look for some of that topic you wanted to post to avoid redundancy. Look at beginners and help for more info on how to get merit. :)

Try to be helpful and if possible make some constructive posts and look to follow the rules for the Forum !
If you feel one of your post is worth an Merit you can look at the Beginners board there are some threads from Users that offer to look at your posts and give some Merits if they worth it.
My advice is to dont look for Merits in the First line , post with a good behavior and i guess some merit will come to you .
Sometimes you get them and sometimes you dont .
Try to be a good person and User to the Forum.

I have checked all your 50 posts. Things for improvement for you

1- Try to involve in a discussion. I see you just post in discussion threads without any hint of discussing anything interesting. No body like to read the generic replies

2- Almost 40% of your posts are "Reserved for translation". If you are very good in translation, you may start your service for translation in services section. This way you may earn merit when you do good translation and help people and at the same time will earn some money too.

Please not a 1000th more thread with this same question  :o

But indeed, respect other members, post with somewhat of content ... and try to not be an annoying person, everyone thats a normal behaving person will be noticed by other members...

It’s not that difficult to infer, simply by reading around and noticing what kind of posts get merited, and specifically interpreting what content they provided in order for someone to merit their post. Even so, you’ve been provided here with some reading material (links) which may provide some light, but it’s not really that tough, providing you put some effort into it. Looking over your recent posting history, that seems not to be the case alas.

Sometimes it is easier to start (or alternate) with posting on your local board. I’ve seen that the pilipina local board is doing better than ever these past six months, so there must be some pretty good examples there, with the bonus of being able to express yourself in what may be a more natural manner in terms of expressivity contentwise (see https://public.tableau.com/shared/JDR5RNF6T?:display_count=yes&:origin=viz_share_link).

<snip>
OP, this nice member has done the searching for you in the part that I snipped out of his post.  Do yourself a favor and read those threads.  Better yet, take a look at some members who've earned tons of merit and see how they post.  Some of them have already posted in this thread so you don't have to look far.

You won't get any merit by charity, and some merit sources might even put you on their ignore list just for starting a thread like this one, which is so redundant it hurts.  On a lighter note, at least we haven't seen as many of these in a while.  Meta was pretty bad with the merit threadz for way too long.

In addition to quality posts which will be rewarded with Merit you can also have a look at 10th anniversary art contest  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193860.0). A large number of users is giving out Merits for good contributions.

And if your submission is outstanding you can also win some BTC:

Prizes:
 - I will distribute at total of at least 1 BTC to the art submissions which I personally like the best, completely subjectively. I might give out more if there are a lot of good submissions.
 - I will give out a ton of merit, probably at least 500 in total, based mainly on effort.
...

Although its a common question but i respect your thirst for merit. You have already got lots of valuable suggestions from other forum members. I don't wanna give you anything new but i wanna tell you that just don't read these suggestions only, try to follow for better results. Before thinking about getting merits its important to learn from here which will lead you to get your goal soon.

I have seen so many newbies here who are very much interested to earn merits at the very beginning of their forum journey where they don't care much about learning from forum. As a result they don't be able to get the exact meaning of good or bad post which leads them to be a shit poster. I hope from the thirst of getting merit you will not going to do the same mistake. Just keep learning.

Your account is nearly two years old, but you've not earned any merits, could be that your texts are poorly written.

It's almost the forums birthday, so you can create an art, go over to10th anniversary art contest (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193860.0)and submit it, Theymos as well as other members would be giving out tons of merits for good art.

Goodluck as you try out some other option. 8)

If you are here for 2 years and got 0 merit, my advise is that first of all you need to learn.
Yes, to learn both cryptocurrency area and just how to write interesting posts.

For example I give merit to this post of Coyster because he provided you really good advise.

In that post I posted cryptoart and got several merits, even though that particular art is not so focused on Bitcointalk. But people liked it.

Let me ask you: if you were a merit source or just have many sMerits, to whom are you going to send them? Who do you think deserve them?
There you go... If you know the answer then you know what to do to get merits from others.

It makes me wonder, does OP really wants to get merit at all. 'They' always do something like this, make a topic, and run away from it.

Not once, but many-many times.

For sure you already know how to earn merits in this forum from the comments above by our fellow members. If you are interested and quite talented to produce your own ART work you can try your luck here theymos and other members are giving merits to those entries they liked: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193860.0

Also, you can help your fellow members in your local board create some useful topics, you can earn some merits by doing that.

By now in the last few days you have already earned 11 merits. Did you know how you get them ? You are good at painting and therefore you got Merits for your drawing in 10th anniversary art contest.

This is a perfect example of getting merits. Just be helpful to the community and post only where you have interest. If you post at places where you have no knowledge or interest, you will end up posting which no one wants to read and hence no one will give you merit for useless posting.

Maybe you can increase your writing skill and make it a little bit lengthy. You can also try and ready other posts too to gein knowledge on how to earn merits as a newbie which is going to help your curiosity. So many things you can do to earn merit, it all about your interest in doing research that would be appreciated by the community.

it is also important to try and learn from from the forum and also outside so you can share your knowledge with others and this can attract merit source giving you some merits you deserve. Most time earning merits is based on your impact as a member of the forum. This will make people find knowledge in your work and appreciate you.

Of course, the ability to write (writing skill  is important, but as I noticed, the community appreciates the content of the posts more. You can often see posts being credited even if the writing skill is not that good or questions are asked (if the question is about an important topic). Often, the length of the post also doesn't play a role. The main thing is to cover the topic well enough, which is difficult to do in a couple of short sentences.

An easier route (if you already have some skills) might be to participate in contests on the forum, like a drawing contest, carving pumpkins, making pizza or something similar.

You need to take part in the life of this forum, and not wait for merit to be awarded just like that. Even in the word itself, a simple meaning is hidden - you need to merit it, and how exactly this will be achieved, you need to proceed from the skills of beginners.

Honestly, I have a doubt why this topic has been bumped as we can see above that this topic is almost 4 years old here in the forum and when looking at the OP's profile it's been a while since he/she is active here in our community after July  21, 2020, he/she abandoned his/her account so this topic must be not bumped. And also this topic is not just very important because it's asking about how to get merit and if we look at OP's profile he /she already been 2 years here in forum then making this post which is obvious that he/she are not here to learn.

Beside the general good suggestions you can read in this thread (and in the several others asking the same thing already existing) just consider also there are some boards where merits are awarded more often than in others , so if you watch closely the forum you will notice this pattern quite easily.

hint : meta, scam accusations, services, wall observer and others too.

This is just to Document that this guy was the reason why this Post was now Hovering again on this board even the Post was Like 4 years ago - I am thinking that maybe He is Affiliated with the OP or it is His Other Account (just saying). Too Obvious In my Opinion. I will Report this Post to Moderator so this can be Removed or be Locked.

I did not reply just to be with the conversation but to document the reincarnation of this Post.
