Title: It’s dying for the 378th time, so when’s the 379th?
Post by: cheezcarls on November 24, 2019, 06:23:01 AM
Bitcoin and leading cryptocurrency prices have taken a major hit over the last couple of days. As you might expect, there are no shortage of volunteers to deliver its last rites given the recent volatility.

Over the last 24 hours, Bitcoin has shed around $14 billion from its total market capitalization. This has brought the price down to around $7,180 at the time of writing.

For the 378th time, Bitcoin is dying.

I’ve seen a lot of news over and over that “Bitcoin is dying for the XXX time”. I wish somebody from the press would actually have a different kind of headline such as “Bitcoin was resurrected for the 378th time”.

At the end of the day, you can’t kill Bitcoin. It may have died 378 times, but was resurrected 378 times as well.

It’s like we’re playing a Playstation “Bitcoin” game with Gameshark cheat codes enabling “Unlimited lives for Bitcoin”.

I can’t wait for Bitcoin to die (and resurrected) for the 379th time. ;D

A lot of us here are not even making a big deal out of that anymore. You're right, it's died too many times that we've gotten used to the process of it dying and waking back up. The only time you lose is when you start to believe that it's really the end for bitcoin. The process continues and it probably will until the whole thing stabilizes or fluctuates much less like fiat.

it actually is more like a mountain climber that people cheer on as long as it is climbing the mountain but as soon as he stops to catch his breath everyone starts posting obituaries about how he died under an avalanche...

Well if you have been in the market for so long, this sort of bitcoin obituaries is just like normal. But for newbies they might be affected negatively. You can declare a altcoin dead and not resurrection, but bitcoin? Nah, it has survived many attacks in the past and I don't see it dying in the next 10 years or so.

Well, media sites need to attract clicks and FB shares somehow. Death makes for a nice sensational title that attracts lots of clicks from the average Joe 😂 At this point I doubt there is even a single news source that really believe btc is dead!

Imo, Market manipulation  also plays a role. I strongly believe many of those bitcoin are dead (or BTC  sets new paradigm ;) ) are just paid to publish.

For 7000 $ a piece I think you can hardly call anything dead. Just pay no attention and keep accumulating. 😂

That's too high of a number to be even worried of. It just proves that Bitcoin has surpassed, and is most likely to surpass, future blows to its market. And times like these aren't even surprising. Considering the market's nature, being decentralized, governed by no one, it should come as a no surprise that significant dumps like these are possible. Then there are those people that spread FUD, telling that Bitcoin would "totally die soon", which makes no sense given the fact that all of these should be seen as "normal".

I think that they hope to be right eventually. Perma bears like Peter Schiff keep calling for a crash, and while he does know that he will be wrong many many times, he also knows that he will be right eventually because the price will start correcting and crashing at some point. Bitcoin is known to have brutal crashes, and that's exactly what he is waiting for to happen.

Any person covering Bitcoin for years calling Bitcoin dead at current prices is just retarded or purposely trying to scare off noobs. The latter applies to Peter Schiff.

Bitcoin just can't die. It stays alive and kicking even when the price is just a couple of dollars a pop. There will always be an ecosystem around it. Not many people back in 2010 could have imagined to see $7000 per coin. They just used it because it was useful to them. Speculation was mostly irrelevant.

The way how the market is moving and the way how people react, it could even reach 1000 times, I like that we have something like the Bitcoin obituary https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoin-obituaries/, that recorded the many times Bitcoin was reported dead and get up to make a huge comeback, it's a big testimony that Bitcoin is here to stay no matter what happen.

Bitcoin is dying every day if you take the speculators word or those who are just panic at every dropping in price because they joined Bitcoin to get rich over night remember ? This kind if people are fuel Bitcoin price with their money as they only chase quick profits from nothing ...so they never learn they go public and shout Bitcoin is dead , they sell and when Bitcoin is rising they call it scam...I'm tired of this people.

This is the very reason why Bitcoin's death is no biggie anymore. It has died countless of times already. I guess even the detractors, haters, morticians, undertakers, and eulogists of Bitcoin are dead tired of seeing Bitcoin dead over and over again.

When I was a newbie in this huge Bitcoin community, I used to react with anger at those Bitcoin detractors feeling happy and successful every time they proclaim the death of Bitcoin. But now, there is nothing interesting to it anymore.

Every time Bitcoin falls, fudsters, shills and nocoiners come to this forum and other platforms and start making long posts how this is the end for Bitcoin. They always post under new accounts, so it's clear that they are just sockpuppets and trolls, and people should just ignore these type of posts. This is especially true for newbies, who never experienced holding Bitcoin when it falls - reading some FUD will make them even more stressed, so it's important to learn to spot it and ignore it.

According to https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoin-obituaries/ bitcoin died 40 times up to this date.

This became a meme now and we're no longer taking it seriously when there are 'analysts' who's describing bitcoin's move into death. We became immune and used to those bashers of bitcoin who never stops telling that. So, if there will be another 'analyst' that will say it again, it's not a big thing anymore and we're no longer affected.

It become a slogan that already associated with Bitcoin everytime dumping happens. More many times it became dead and amazes us everytime it pumps. Many became too impatient now that they always declaring btc dead with no valid reasons just because it decrease in price which is normal in a volatile market. I'm thinking for how many time I replied of topic about bitcoin is dead in these forum before.

Indeed. Their screams about the complains with the bear market are still echoing over the 2 years, I wonder what merit are they getting from it aside from being depress about the market. The only thing that they know is to create stories to make the public go wild about something that is not true, like creating false prediction that the market will dive deeper therefore they could make other people do stupid decisions as well.

I've been here in this forum since 2016 and I could say this kind of scenarios will never make me panic, in fact I am amazed that bitcoin reached $20,000 from nothing since 2009, and that is only what I see, positivity :)

This is a common strategy where emotions plays a big role in determining the price. We have seen such acts in stock markets. People and newspaper making absurd analysis to move the price in the direction they prefer. If anyone buys bitcoin, they know the price is going to moon but if they sells it, the bitcoin bubble is destined to burst.

Newbies are taking it seriously. You can see it by the amount of BTC that was sold in the last week. It's already becoming a rule of this market that you have to survive a bear market to learn to not give a fuck and hold. I survived 2014/15 and 2018/19 and while the first one made me want to quit, the second one didn't come as a surprise.
When the third one comes I'll be sitting comfortably, sipping a drink while idiots are dumping and sweating, which is more or less what I'm doing now.

you've been in at least 200 times until now, so there's anything you did not farmiliar with?

no pain no gain! I think it's not the problem that you hold on for how long, problem is how much money you made or lost. if lost too much, just leave, made money? so there's no reason to complain

Bitcoin dying has been like a chance to buy bitcoin cheap. For those who have been to crypto for a long time, this kind of event is not of a big deal, instead an opportunity to accumulate for the future. Bitcoin had come really far ever since it was created. Bitcoin market is a roller coaster ride, if you can't ride with it you will lose money or even an opportunity.

As always people are too impatient.
When they try to start their investments and crypto and have no knowledge and information about what's going on around them. ::)

Being naive is what makes these small investors to lose their minds when they see a price drop.

People we have been there, done that in the past and here we are "again".
It's always going to happen and it's going to rise sooner or later.

Just be informative and attentive.

LOL  :D , Every time Bitcoin price drops down people are saying that it is dying,
I wonder how many more times we would hear it and when would people accept that the price of crypto also drops down.
This people only focus on the price increase of Bitcoin and easily panic when the price decline.

In 2017, it was just a high level and 2018 till now, it has been down but people have been thinking otherwise. Surely,  price is going up after will leave the bear and approach halving.

You know the saying: "it works until it doesn't". So far Bitcoin ressurection worked 378 times so obviously the chances that won't happen again are very very low. It's crazy that whenever we have a brutal dump people and some of the media are instantly coming with headlines like "Bitcoin is dying". It's crazy that most people actually believe those articles and statements on CT.. We must learn to make decisions based on our own thoughts & not based on some fake crypto wiz on Twitter or so..

Well, I like the sound of this analogy, but to be honest, in case of Bitcoin the climber does not stop to take a breath but actually does down a bit (and sometimes not really a bit). However, I agree that it does not mean that it's dying, it's just moving naturally. I realize the limitation of the analogy that comes to my mind, but it's more like a person a swing. To go forward more, this person also has to go backward. Or, rather like a wave hitting the bank, but than going backward a bit to hit it again.
I am also curious about how that number was calculated, what kind of "deaths" were taken into account. But they are not deaths, anyway, just fluctuations of the free market.

As long as we still make money with bitcoin, it wont die and this dump is just a part of challenges for the past 10 years and I’m sure we will survive on this. He must be referring for the trend which says that we have to keep buying because the next trend for bitcoin will be up and that is the best way for us to make money in short term. Bitcoin will never die, this is the new beginning for all of us and more years to come.

BTCtc has more life than anything i know in this life :) imagine dying for the 378th time and still breathing fine at least not in a coma yet, honestly, this is enough to tell panic sellers to rest and stop panicking anytime there is a little drop in price, if BTCtc can die this much and still survive then i think we only need to give credit, people should already be use to this by now and if possible prepare for this anytime it occurs. Long live BTCTC.

It's hilarious, many of us don't believe that Bitcoin will not die in the future because it will be the future monetary system, I don't believe that Bitcoin will not die anymore because already Bitcoin has gained huge popularity around the world and it will get accepted at the whole world, we know that a lot of limitation in there but day by day it's getting improved and it will be the best platform for trading and investing in the coming days, so we have to keep trust on this platform so that this platform will bring to us a lot of opportunities in the future.

But it really is dying this time. Last high of $14k was less than the previous $20k.

That has never happened before.

Clearly the world has woken up to the fact that bitcoin will never be a currency outside of drug-trafficking, and its not particularly great for that.

The only people claiming its got value are the delusional bag-holders.

My opinion is that the rise of price from 3K all the way up to 14K between April and June 2019 was not organic 100%. It was mostly the same people that bought in again and sold the top at 12-14K.
Although I had hopes we could stabilize at around 10k and then begin a huge move to 100K, all my indicators pointed out that it was too early.
Don't get discouraged though. We might need to wait some time but it will get there in the end. Treat is as a mini bull market that was incomplete because people didn't follow.
Right now we need a few more months of consolidation. Perhaps only a few. At some point you will understand when new money starts entering and the real bull market begins.
Bitcoin can fall to 6k, it can fall lower. Treat it as an opportunity.

This happens because the market cycle continues, and don't forget Bitcoin is Volatility. The price can change dramatically at any time according to market conditions.

Yes, we heard bitcoin died like 300-400 times already but what is dying is the bank account of some late investors who entered the market this year with all the sheeps, but not Bitcoin. Don't confuse Bitcoin dying with people losing it's money. they're very different things and people confuse them all the time, especially when they're deep in red. the current phase is called price discovery. the market seeks to find the real value of one BTC. price jumps and downs a couple thousand each week, so what. All people are doing is speculating.

Lmao, that's funny. You're not the only one that has been seeing these news that are saying Bitcoin is dead, I have seen it a lot of times lately. There are even some so called experts that claims that it is over that this is the last time and Bitcoin will never resurrect again. Some of them have said that very soon before the end of this year that Bitcoin is going to drop to zero.

Plus, I have also seen news of ex Bitcoin enthusiasts that became millionaires saying that people should stop investing in Bitcoin. Lol, like seriously, these people are stupid and selfish, they became millionaires and are now trying to discourage others from investing? Well, I wouldn't blame them. They will all be surprised when the next bull run kicks in. Funny thing is that some of them will invest secretly in Bitcoin.

Everytime bitcoin looks dying that's the time that it offers good opportunity to buy it at a cheaper price.
The game here based on my observation for years of being a crypto enthusiast is that, when there is a pump, that's the time to sell and buy when there is a pump.

Actually its very simple, anyone can do that as long as they are confident that bitcoin will succeed.

its not only dying, it has been declared dead many times also.

From the concept of people who don't believe in bitcoin may be bitcoin died already, but the term dying isn't appropriate for me to classify bitcoin as a whole. It is working and still beneficial even in a declining market price. People are just not happy waiting when their investment will increase in bitcoin thus, saying "bitcoin is dead" so many times which just aims to degrade and to lessen the trust of people to bitcoin.

about twenty posts all with a signature.  all earning btc.

so how on earth 🌍 is btc dying ;D
I think the problem is people believing crypto is always to be in surge trend. However, the article website is among one of the new crypto news site and the only thing they can do is spread some FUD in the market while they again traffic cause the article writer wrote the news base on what someone who's inexperienced about bitcoin said on Twitter without doing his own proper research.

the next death is a few more days.  Please read the information below and check.  Maybe black Friday is this Friday.
#fud upbit was hacked so there was a lot of money going out.  Including 342000 #eth transferred to the unknown wallet, #trx, #btt, #xlm are similar.  A total of about 60 billion won was transferred from the floor.

I can’t wait for Bitcoin to die (and resurrected) for the 379th time. ;D

Great comparison, with PlayStation cheat codes, we have to pray that it will stay that way, but  I'm pretty sure that it will stay that way, so many great things are happening in the industry and the ecosystem is very strong, many people are educated on the importance of blockchain and of course big players are now coming, all the missing pieces are now coming in together.

If bitcoin really dies, then the entire crypto market will die.I don't think that's possible.Lowering the price does not mean death. 8)

This happens time to time, but treat 1BTC = 1BTC, i know for many people this would sound naive because they tend to purchase BTC firstly to make profits out of it doing things such as trading etc pegging it to its current $ value, even i do. But the world population as of now is 7.7 Billion  https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/  (https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/) and the amount of bitcoins that would entirely circulate are 21 millionhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin) and the awareness of it among the people is roughly 13-30 million users that use bitcoin or its services  https://www.bitcoinmarketjournal.com/how-many-people-use-bitcoin/  (https://www.bitcoinmarketjournal.com/how-many-people-use-bitcoin/), when only 30 million know or use it, and the current value of it is ~7k USD https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/  (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/), imagine what will happen when more people adapt to it. They will want to buy it or acquire it to use it. Obviously, the number of bitcoins that will exist is fixed, as the users increase, its importance and value will gradually increase because its need will increase. Sooner or later it is going to go to the moon and even the tiny bits of satoshis will start costing a lot of $$. Don't worry about the price droping or increasing, its the part of the game, just believe in it. This technology has helped us make anonymous payments, can do cross border transactions in no time, can send it anywhere and everywhere.

The statistics i have are obtained from different online sources, i just wanted to tell that even if it dies, it will respawn  ;) so keep calm and believe in it.

Every time bitcoin has decreased significantly, the news will appear that says that bitcoin is dead. I just smiled seeing this. For those who understand the cryptocurrency ecosystem, this is natural, the market is very dynamic, rumours can affect its movements. Yes, and I like the OP above, as often as bitcoin is considered dead, and as often as it is bitcoin will rise from the dead again

This is strength of BTC that it always go up after a decline. Those who show faith in btc when it's down n out are given due reward by BTC. Its 378 time BTC is taking a dip, I would say btc will take dip for 500 and 5000 times before hitting back.

Lol, never pay attention to these naysayers mate, most of them base their decisions and comments on the current prices of bitcoin. For those who have been in this industry for quite sometime now would notice that this is a normal trend where bitcoin price usually dips pending an upcoming bitcoin halving. These are time of purchasing bitcoins, hodl them and wait for the rise after halving ;D
